CRITICAL HEAT FLUX FOR DOWNWARD-FACING BOILING ON A COATED HEMISPHERICAL VESSEL SURROUNDED BY AN INSULATION STRUCTURE

  • An experimental study was performed to evaluate the effects of surface coating and an enhanced insulation structure on the downward facing boiling process and the critical heat flux on the outer surface of a hemispherical vessel. Steady-state boiling tests were conducted in the Subscale Boundary Layer Boiling (SBLB) facility using an enhanced vessel/insulation design for the cases with and without vessel coatings. Based on the boiling data, CHF correlations were obtained for both plain and coated vessels. It was found that the nucleate boiling rates and the local CHF limits for the case with micro-porous layer coating were consistently higher than those values for a plain vessel at the same angular location. The enhancement in the local CHF limits and nucleate boiling rates was mainly due to the micro-porous layer coating that increased the local liquid supply rate toward the vaporization sites on the vessel surface. For the case with thermal insulation, the local CHF limit tended to increase from the bottom center at first, then decrease toward the minimum gap location, and finally increase toward the equator. This non-monotonic behavior, which differed significantly from the case without thermal insulation, was evidently due to the local variation of the two-phase motions in the annular channel between the test vessel and the insulation structure.

  • As the incidence of diet-related diseases increase, much attention has been focused of traditional foods. Traditional foods are ultimately based on local foods. However, there has been little study looking into the recipes and nutritional value of local foods. Therefore, the present study was designed to standardize recipes and analyze the nutrients of some representative local foods of Cheollabuk-do Province. Their foods were Cheonju pibimpap, kongnamulgukpap, minmuljangokui, aejeotchim and aguytichim. Test recipes for each food were prepared, being based on various information obtained from personal interviews, literature surveys of restaurant recipes. Then test recepe was subjected to sensory evaluation. All characteristics of each food were judged as "satisfactory". The analysis of nutrient composition revealed that in general energy content was low whereas protein content was as high as recommended reguirement in all foods except for kongnamulgukpap. Vitamin content was generally high but contents of calcium and iron were relatively low in all foods. Cheonju pibimpap was rich in dietary fiber. Dietary fiber content of Cheonju pibimpap was 16.6g per serving size. All foods contained considerable amounts of essential amino acids. The major fatty acide were oleic acid, linoleic acid and glutamic acid, oleic acid being the highest in terms of composition ratio.ion ratio.

국가 온실가스 감축목표 달성을 위한 지자체 온실가스 배출특성 연구 (A Study on Greenhouse Gas Emissions Characteristics of Local Government for the Achievement of the National Reduction Goal)

  • In this study, GHG inventory on 17 local government between 2005 and 2014 is build up using 'GHG emission estimation guideline (2016. 2) for local government' developed and distributed by KECO. This covers all the sectors should be included in national GHG inventory, which are energy, industrial process, agriculture, AFOLU, and waste. In addition, six GHGs, carbon dioxide, metane, nitrous oxide, hydrofluorocarbons, perfluorocarbons, sulphur hexafluoride declared in Kyoto protocol are estimated to reflect utmost precision. Indirect esissions, such as electricity, heat and waste generation are separately estimated as well as direct emissions to help local government to establish substantial and implementable reduction measures of GHGs.

유.무선 혼합망에서 Cross-Layer기반의 에너지 효율적인 전송 기법 (An Energy Efficient Transmission Scheme based on Cross-Layer for Wired and Wireless Networks)

  • Snoop 프로토콜은 유 무선 혼합망에서 무선 링크에서 발생하는 TCP 패킷 손실을 효과적으로 보상하여 TCP 전송률을 향상시킬 수 있는 효율적인 프로토콜이다. 하지만, 무선 링크에서 연집한 패킷 손실이 발생하는 경우에는 지역 재전송을 효과적으로 수행하지 못하여 전송 효율이 떨어진다는 문제점이 있다. 이러한 Snoop 프로토콜의 문제점을 개선하기위해 무선 구간에서 TCP-SACK의 장점을 활용한 SACK-Aware-Snoop, SNACK 메커니즘 등이 제안되었다. SACK-Aware-Snoop, SNACK 메커니즘은 연집한 패킷손실 환경에서도 Snoop 프로토콜보다 높은 전송률을 보장하지만 전송 계층의 ACK 패킷을 기반으로 재전송을 수행한다는 점은 ACK 패킷의 손실에 심각한 전송 성능 저하를 가져오며, 무선 구간에서 SACK 옵션의 사용은 무선망의 대역폭과 이동 단말의 한정된 에너지 자원을 불필요하게 낭비하는 문제를 초래하게 된다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제점을 개선하기 위해 Cross-layer 기법을 적용한 지역 재전송 기법인 C-Snoop(Cross-layer Snoop) 프로토콜을 제안한다. C-Snoop 프로토콜은 현재 유 무선 혼합망에서 가장 널리 사용되는 IEEE 802.11 MAC 프로토콜 기반의 지역 재전송 메커니즘으로서, MAC 계층의 ACK 패킷과 새로이 제안된 지역 재전송 타이머에 의해 효율적인 지역 재전송을 수행한다. ns-2 시뮬레이터를 이용한 실험을 통해 C-Snoop의 지역 재전송 기법은 무선 구간의 연집적인 패킷 손실에 대해 효율적인 보상을 수행하며, 이동 단말의 에너지 효율성을 향상시키는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

Energy Perspective of Sugar Industries in Pakistan: Determinants and Paradigm Shift

  • The aim of this study is to empirically explore micro and macroeconomic factors affecting the Pakistani sugar industries and searching the energy potential of this industry, through the survey of literature. The empirical part has been explored by employing Vector Autoregression (VAR), Granger Causality tests and simultaneous equation models through quarterly data for the period of 1991q2-2008q4. The study also aims to devise policies for the development of sugar industries and identify its growing importance for the energy sector of Pakistan. Empirical tests applied on the domestic prices of sugar, domestic interest rates, and exchange rate, productive capacities of sugar mills, per capita income, world sugar prices on cultivable area and sugar production reveal very useful results. Results reveal an improvement of productive capacity of the sugar mills of Pakistan on account of increasing crushing capacity of this sector. Negative effect of rising wholesale prices on the harvesting area was also observed. Profit earnings of the sugar mills significantly increase with the rise of sugar prices but the system does not exist for the farming community to share the rising prices of sugar. The models indicate positive and significant effect of local prices of sugar on its volume of import. Another of the findings of this study positively relates the local sugar markets with the international prices of sugar. Additionally, the causality tests results reveal exchange rate, harvesting area and overall output of sugarcane to have significant effects on the local prices of sugar. Similarly, import of sugar, interest rate, per capita consumption of sugar, per capita national income and the international prices of sugar also significantly affect currency exchange rate of Pakistani rupee in terms of US$. The study also finds sugar as an essential and basic necessity of the Pakistani consumers. That is why there are no significant income and price effects on the per capita consumption of sugar in Pakistan. All the empirical methods reiterate the relationship of variables. Economic policy makers are recommended to improve governance and management in the production, stock taking, internal and external trading and distribution of sugar in Pakistan using bumper crop policies. Macroeconomic variables such as interest rate, exchange rate per capita income and consumption are closely connected with the production and distribution of sugar in Pakistan. The cartelized role of the sugar industries should also be examined by further studies. There is need to further explore sugar sector of Pakistan with the perspective of energy generation through this sector; cartelized sugar markets in Pakistan and many more other dimensions of this sector. Exact appraisal of sugar industries for energy generation can be done appropriately by the experts from applied sciences.

국부좌굴된 강구조부재의 비탄성 반복 거동 (Inelastic Cyclic Behavior of Locally Buckled Steel Members)

  • 소성설계에 있어서 국부좌굴 후의 거동은 매우 중요한 고려사항이며, 최종 붕괴상태에 이르는 거동을 설명한다. 지진과 같은 복잡한 하중에 대하여 구조물의 실질적인 신뢰성을 얻기 위해, 국부좌굴 이후의 구조물의 점진적인 소재의 약화와 강성과 강도의 감소, 에너지 소실능력을 평가하여야 한다. 본 연구에서는, two-surface 모델에 근거하여 반복 불비례 하중에서의 국부좌굴 후 거동을 예측하기 위하여 제시된 stress resultant model을 이용하여, 단순화된 국부좌굴해석모델을 제안하였다. 이 모델을 사용한 해석적 모멘트-곡률관계는 일정한 반복 사이클 내에서 실험결과와 적절히 부합하며, 내진설계에 있어 중요한 선형 분포된 에너지 감소를 제안 모델로부터 예측할 수 있다.

수평전도관(水平傳導管)과 원통(圓筒)사이에 격판(隔板)을 가진 환상공간(環狀空間)에서의 자연대류(自然對流) (Natural Convection in the Annulus between a Horizontal Conducting Tube and a Cylinder with Spacers)

  • Natural convection in the annulus between a horizontal conducting tube and a cylinder with spacers has been studied by 2-dimensional numerical method with finite difference techniques. The effects of Rayleigh number, conductivities of conducting tube and spacer, and position of spacers were studied analytically. In case of vertical spacers, the maximum local Nusselt number appears at ${\theta}{\approx}50^{\circ}$ in a conducting tube and ${\theta}{\approx}30^{\circ}$ in an outer cylinder, The local Nusselt numbers show positive values on the lower spacer, but negative values on the surface of the upper spacer. In case of horizontal spacers, the flow over the spacer is more active than that of under the spacer as the Rayleigh number increases. The maximum local Nusselt appeares at ${\theta}=180^{\circ}$ in a conducting tube and at ${\theta}=0^{\circ}$ in an outer cylinder. The local Nusselt numbers show positive values on the upward surface, but negative values on the downward surface of spacer. As the dimensionless conductivity increases, the mean Nusselt number remarkably increases at $K_w/K_f<48$ and show almost even at $K_w/K_f{\ge}48$. The mean Nusselt number of a conducting tube with vertical spacers is 5.12 percent less and with horizontal spacers is 11.33 percent less than that of a conducting tube without spacer at $Ra=10^4$, Pr = 0.7 and $K_w/K_f=48$.

영주향토음식 콘텐츠개발을 위한 주성분분석 및 문화유산 (소수서원, 부석사) 자원의 활용 연구 (Utilization Research of Cultural Heritage Resources (Sosuseowon & Buseoksa) and Primary Components Analysis for Development of Yeongju Local Food Content)

  • This study was applied to the PCA (Primary Components Analysis) for the sixteen table setting at the 2017 Yeongju local food contest. In this contest, we have developed a seonbibansang and a temple one-dish meal. As a result of the correlation analysis, the applicability and composition were 0.7980, harmony and taste were 0.7747 and easiness and composition were 0.7435. In the Primary Component $Y_1$, all the variables $X_1{\cdots}X_{10}$ mean that the quality of the food had positive values greater than zero. The second Primary Component $Y_2$ has a large positive value while $X_4$, $X_5$, $X_6$, $X_7$, $X_9$ have negative values. $Y_2$ is a value representing the sanitation variable, and can be considered a traditional and characteristic table setting natural to the native food in Yeongju. In addition, we developed an-hyangbansang and seonmyoaecheong food content by applying PCA factors (the elements of harmony, ease and sanitation). Table setting of an-hyangbansang provided energy 61.5%, protein 20.0% and fat 18.5% and seonmyoaecheong provided energy 62.7%, protein 15.4% and fat 22.2%. This satisfied the necessary amount of caloric nutrient intake that could be provided in a meal. Especially through story-telling, a modern interpretation - or rebranding - of local and traditional foods could make these traditional food products familiar to consumers currently. The developed table setting is felt to be conductive to the possible commercialization and introduction of traditional food into the mainstream commercial food service industry.

유엔기후변화협상에 관한 세계시민회의 숙의과정 평가: 글로벌 프레이밍, 로컬 셋팅 (Evaluation of the World Wide Views on Climate and Energy in Seoul: Global framing and Local setting)

  • 지난 6월 6일 77개국 1만여 명의 세계시민이 참여한 유엔기후변화협상에 관한 세계시민회의(World Wide Views)는 전 지구적 이슈인 기후변화 거버넌스를 위해 세계 일반시민들이 참가한 숙의형 의사결정과정의 실험이다. 기본 구조는 덴마크기술위원회(DBT)를 중심으로 한 코디네이터(이하 운영본부)가 전체 과정을 기획하고 세계 각국의 현지파트너가 각자의 지역에서 시민회의를 개최하는 것이다. 이후 운영본부에서 각국의 결과를 취합하여 보고서의 형태로 정책협상의장인 유엔기후변화협약(UNFCCC) 당사국 총회(COP21)에 전달하는 것을 목표로 하고 있다. 본 연구는 다양한 과학기술영역에서 실험 되어온 시민 숙의라는 정책결정 기제가 추구하는 가치들(대표성, 투명성, 공평성, 숙의성, 영향력)이 글로벌 환경에서 프레이밍 되어져 한국에서 적용된 세계시민회의 사례에서 어떻게 드러나는지 평가하고 한계와 가능성을 점검한다.

에너지 관점에서 임베디드 자바가상기계의 메모리 접근 형태 (Memory Access Behavior of Embedded Java Virtual Machine in Energy Viewpoint)

  • 임베디드 시스템에서 일반적으로 메모리가 가장 많은 에너지를 소비하는 것으로 알려지고 있다. 임베디드 자바가상기계의 경우도 마찬가지이며, 따라서 보다 에너지 효율이 높은 자바가상기계의 개발을 위해서는 자바 메모리의 에너지 사용을 최적화 하는 것이 무엇보다 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 자바 프로그램 실행 시 수많은 바이트코드들이 어떻게 논리적 메모리를 접근하는지 분석하였다. 이런 접근 형태 분석은 자바 메모리의 설계 및 구현 기술을 선택하는데 큰 통찰력을 제공해 준다 힙, 오퍼랜드 스택, 지역변수배열 등 세 가지 논리적 데이터 공간에 대해 각각 메모리 접근을 분석하였으며, 분석 결과 오퍼랜드 스택이 가장 빈번하게, 또한 균일하게 사용되었으며 힙이 가장 드물게, 그리고 불균일하게 사용되었음을 알 수 있었다. 힙과 지역변수배열은 읽기 위주로 사용되었으며, 오퍼랜드 스택은 읽기와 쓰기 비율이 크게 다르지 않았다.
