  • It is difficult to obtain accurate fracture toughness values by RILEM committees proposed three point bend test(TPB) because the shape of load-deflection curve is irregular and final crack propagation occurs after some slow stable cracking. However, for disk test, fracture toughness is easily obtained from crack initial load. We examined the cracked high strength concrete disk and the experimental results were compared with the results by finite element analysis(FEA). Also we compared experimental fracture locus with theoretical fracture locus.

  • Nowadays, It has adapted both Ultimate Strength Design(USD) and Allowable Stress Design(ASD) Method evaluating load-carrying capacity of PSC I Type Girder Bridge. But it has confused because the each method has brought some different results. This study shows some results of loading test of the PSC I type Girder Bridge and analyzed the structural behavior by FEM analysis considering material nonlinear. Parametric study of effective prestress of post tendon is performed and compared to results of loading test.

  • In this paper, an analytical and experimental study was performed in order to determine the effects of interaction between vehicle and structure. Results presented in the paper show that analytical method including moving load effect can investigate the trend of structural response due to dynamic interaction between vehicle and structure. The wheel tracking machine fitted with 2-axle test vehicle can demonstrate more accurate dynamic interaction between vehicle and structure than the wheel tracking machine fitted without 2-axle test vehicle.

  • Recently, geogrid reinforcement has been applied tn the subgrade of the roadway and the railway on the compressible layered soil, and the relevant reserch on the reinforcing mechanism has been performed. In this study, mechanics of geogrid reinforcement and the parameters for the improvement of bearing capacity are evaluated and presented based on the case histories of the field load test on the geogrid-reinforced layered subgrade

  • Fire performance and fire safety of high-rise buildings have become major concerns after the disasters of World Trade Center in the U.S. in 2001 and Windsor tower in Spain in 2005. Performance based design (PBD) approaches have been considered as a better method for fire resistance design of structures because it is capable of incorporating test results of most recent fire resistance technologies. However, there is a difficulty to evaluate fireproof performance of large structures, which have multiple structural members such as columns, slabs, and walls. The difficulty is mainly due to the limitation in the testing equipment, such as size of furnace that can be used to carry out fire tests with existing criteria like ISO 834, BS 476, and KS F 2257. In the present research, a large scale calorie meter (10 MW) was used to conduct three full scale fire tests on medical modular blocks. Average fire load of 13.99 $kg/m^2$ was used in the first test. In the second test, the weighting coefficient of 3.5 (the fire load of 50 $kg/m^2$) was used to simulate the worst fire scenario. The flashover of the medical modular block occurred at 62 minutes in the first test and 12 minutes in the second test. The heat resistance capacity of the external wall, the temperatures and deformations of the structural members satisfied the requirements of fire resistance performance of 90 minutes burning period. The total heat loads and the heat values for each test are calculated by theoretical equations. The duration of burning was predicted. The predicted results were compared with the test results, and they agree quite well.

  • Nickel bumps for ACF(anisotropic conductive film) flip chip application were fabricated by electroless and electro plating and their mechanical properties and impact reliability were examined through the compressive test, bump shear test and drop test. Stress-displacement curves were obtained from the load-displacement data in the compressive test using nano-indenter. Electroplated nickel bumps showed much lower elastic stress limits (70MPa) and elastic moduli ($7.8{\times}10^{-4}MPa/nm$) than electroless plated nickel bumps ($600-800MPa,\;9.7{\times}10^{-3}MPa/nm$). In the bump shear test, the electroless plated nickel bumps were deformed little by the test blade and bounded off from the pad at a low shear load, whereas the electroplated nickel bumps allowed large amount of plastic deformation and higher shear load. Both electroless and electro plated nickel bumps bonded by ACF flip chip method showed high impact reliability in the drop impact test.

  • This paper describes the high temperature creep characteristics for virgin material of 9Cr1MoVNb steel using small punch creep(SP-Creep) test technique which is developing recently. In addition, the several results of SP-Creep test are compared with that of 2.25Cr- 1Mo steel which is widely used as boiler materials and that of conventional uniaxial creep test. The obtained SP-Creep curves show the creep behaviors of three regimes like that obtained from conventional uniaxial creep test, and SP-Creep properties are definitely depended on applied load and test temperature. The correlation of SP-Creep rate and creep rupture life with applied load has been determined like the correlation between creep rate/rupture life and stress in uniaxial creep test, and also is satisfied with Power law. The creep rupture times of newly 9Cr1MoVNb steel are higher than those of 2.25Cr1Mo steel at the same creep temperature and applied loading condition, and the decrease extent of creep rupture life with loads is very lower compared with 2.25Cr1Mo steel.

  • The general requirements to achieve the structural integrity of the airframe are described in the military specification, MIL-STD-1530A. One of these requirements is the durability and damage tolerance of the airframe, which should be shown through the analysis and test based on the related specifications. This paper introduces the full scale durability test to evaluate the structural safety and durability of the basic trainer, KT-1. The test was performed according to the procedure in the military specification. The flight by flight load spectrum was developed by KT-1 fatigue load criteria and used for the durability test. The durability test had been performed for 4 service lives and was completed successfully. Therefore, it was shown that KT-1 airframe satisfied the durability requirements.
