The purpose of this study is to develop living room storage furniture with multiple functions and for analyzing living room system furniture that can correspond with lifestyles in the living room. Literature survey was used by collecting data on interior design books and magazines. System furniture is very functional depending on the purpose and spaces, and can be modified effectively with the development of design based on the resident's demand. Living room furniture was mostly arranged by two types. One was lower and slimmer in order to use the space effectively, the other totally occupied one side of the living room wall. Furniture combined with multiple functions of lights and electronics can increase the satisfaction and convenience of users. And furniture maximizes storage space and is systemized so that mixture and arrangement are diversified. Flexible and active way furniture that accept various electronic fixtures and performances in the living room. Furniture forms, materials, and colors will be designed for the functions and atmosphere of living rooms. This results will contribute to develop furniture that has additional features such as lighting and electronic appliances hereafter.

Thanks to the recent apartment housing sales in new cities and metropolitan area, the public-use furniture market is greatly animated with the development of customized furniture. Nevertheless, the situation becomes difficult because of the fierce competition among the furniture suppliers with quoting at the lower price to get the order. In order to produce unique and stylish living cabinets, it is required for the furniture designer to create the design under the systematic design process collaborated with the construction company and make the design proposal thereby to the construction company. The present paper is focused on the re-usability of TV set currently possessed by the tenant, variability, uniqueness, pricing level suitable for the cost of real estate sales, modern design and so on. in the development of apartment living room cabinet. Thus, it is important for the furniture supplier to realize the importance of the design field in order to enhance the competitiveness of the customized furniture in the apartment housing. Accordingly the present researcher has developed the modem variable living room cabinet in accordance with the systemic design process by realizing the leads of tenant of the apartment housing and then establishing the concept focused on the design required by both the tenant and construction company.

This study attempts to fix an appropriate quantity of space evaluation, focusing on important furniture room visual environment elements. The major results of the study can be summarized as follows; 1. The degree of satisfaction in the living room is affected by an evaluational factor among factors of space evaluation. 2. In the space estimation for the furniture, the wall furniture is important in the living room because the arragement and occupying proportion of the wall furniture varies widely. 3. In the living room of the APT siza for the common people an appropriate quantity of furniture is classified into 3 types of the occuppying proportion. As the floor occupancy proportion supporting furniture is 13~19%, wall furniture is 10~16% and total furniture which combined both the supporting furniture and the wall furniture is 23~34%. Second, the proportion occupying the wall is 6~9% for the supporing furniture, 9~20% for the wall furniture, and 21~31% for the total furniture. Finaly the proportion occupying the space is 6~9% for the supporting furniture, 9~20% for the wall furniture, and 21~31% for the total furniture. Finaly the proportion occupying the space is 6~9% for the supporting, 6~10% for the wall furniture, and 11~16% for the total furniture.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the customer demand for design development of digital convergence furniture in the living space of the ubiquitous home. This study used the individual survey method and was collected from July 1 to 20, 2008. The frequency and percentage were used for data analysis by SPSS window's 12. The results of the study were as follows: The first, a lot of survey targets were 30-40 years old, university graduates, over 50,000,000 won in annual income and 30-40 pyung in house size. The second, what types of activity were carried out in the living room were acquisition of knowledge>entertainment activity>communication activity>household chores. The third, what types of furniture were used in the living room were A/V furniture>table>sofa>computer table>bookself. The forth, customers preferred to picture telephone service in sociality, home-theater service in entertainment and home appliances remote control service in information service. The fifth, the digital functions which can integrate with the living roon furniture, in the item for A/V furniture, was front door control function which recognizes visitors with the screen. In the item for table was function to search internet and for sofa was self purification function. Finally, the digital convergence furniture is not only for one activity but also for various types of activities that can comprehensively function to materialize the concept of comfortable furniture in the living space.

Communication has increasingly become important between peoples in the modern society. The change in the composition of a family brought by urbanization and industrialization caused structural changes in the society, and the lack of communication between people have incited various social conflicts rising from individualism and ego-centrism. Thus in this era, domestic environment is one of the most significant environment that enables one to transform into an appropriate member of the social community as well as develop appropriate traits of one. The living room, which served as an arena of communication for family members is now replaced with TV, a popular media, and has lost its original role in the house. The living room furnitures today are designed to facilitate people in viewing TV, not to enhance communication between family members. Thus in this research, I would like to propose a new concept of 'communication furniture' and various examples to suggest appropriate, desired role of living room furniture in households today. In addition, I hope this research contributes to forming a beneficial living room culture and a domestic environment as well as a heart-warming, human society.

Field survey were made. and the numbers of samples are 294 houses(3-ways;66-95.7m2, 99-128.7m2) and more than 132m')in Daegu.The major findings are as follows:1) The space evaluation of the living room is changed by the furniture occupancy rate and is different of the arrangement types.2) The space evaluation of the living room is much affected by the type of furniture which lie in near wall arrangement in 66-95.7m2, the proportion of the wall occupancy in 99-128.7m2, the proportion of the space occupancy in more of 132m2.3) In the living room an appropriate quantity of furniture is classified into 3 types of the occupying proportion.As the floor occupancy proportion supporting furniture is 13-22%, wall furniture is 10-l7f% and total furniture which combined both the supporting furniture and the wall furniture is 23-36%. Second. The proportion occupying the wall is 6-11% for the supporting furniture, 14-27% for the wall furniture, and 24-32% for the total furniture. Finally the proportion occupying the space is 12-9% for the supporting, 6-llftfer the wall furniture, and 12-l9ft for the total furniture.

During last 4 decades of industrial development, apartment has been rapidly disseminated throughout the nation. Its main progress, however, only appeared in quantity, not in quality. To promote housing industry in more way and to enhance peoples' life quality through the better housing environment, housing plan should be based on living items including furniture, appliances and etc. Not enough research has been done to find out living items for better house plan development and furniture design. Among living items, furniture reflects both directly and indirectly people's lifestyle and way of living. This study attempted to find out the pattern of furniture possession which people own in their bedrooms. An in depth questionnaire survey of 600 households was carried during the year 2000. A variety of patterns were found which indicated diverse living conditions within a very similar uniform multifamily apartment complex. The result of this study will be helpful to understand the living conditions in a more systematic way and to generate new concept for both residential unit plan and furniture design.

Furniture is a medium to interconnect the living space to human, and it is the closest environmental element that limits the functions of the space, defines the style of the living, and adjusts the actions and behaviors of human. Therefore the furniture can be said to be one of the craft arts that reflects the culture and living style as they are according to the periodical, regional, and social stratum characteristics. Within this context, this study tries to suggest new design and living culture that can harmonize with the modern residence living culture and incorporate the traditional varnishing technique with lacquer that had been discontinued. Coming to the modern days, the varnishing with lacquer is getting attention again with its environment friendly characteristics and antibiotic functions, and is being applied to various applications. To inherit and maintain such an excellent traditional culture, I would like to improve the practicality by applying to modern furniture, and to contribute to develop and tell the world about the superiority of our culture.

The shift to more practical and simpler lifestyle in the modern society is well reflected in people's preference when it comes to living room space and sofa designs. These elements are intentionally crafted to satisfy the customers' personal needs and wants, sense of comfort, aesthetic preference, and function. This study includes an analysis on the development and conceptualization of sofa designs, exterior materials, and colors of the furniture released by Hanssem, Livart, Borneo, Emons, and Jangin Furniture during the first half of 2007. Modern and practical sofas should be essentially designed according to the customers' demand and current trend. Such design principle is necessary to achieve and maintain competitiveness in the globalizing society.

This Paper focuses on discusing how to select, arrange and evaluate furniture and how to estimate the space of the living room.In this Paper, the size of the living room was manipulated in 3 . ways;66-95.7m2, 99-128.7 m2 and more of 132 m2.The major findings are as follows:1) The subjects in the larger size select or arrange furniture more diversely and show the higher satisfactory level for the arrangement of furniture than those in the smaller ,size do.2) The subjects in the smaller size shows the conflict between their plan for the furniture \ulcorner arrangement and their evaluation for the arranged furniture.3) The variables affecting the estimation of the living room are the arrangement, the color, the number and tile design of furniture.4) Five dimensions(activity, evaluation luxry, plenty and openness)are extracted by factor analysis.
