Quaternary ammonium salt terminated silane was prepared from aminopropyldimethylethoxysilane with methyliodide and ionized 7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinodimethane $(Li^+TCNQ^-)$ was prepared from TCNQ with methyliodide and lithium iodide. Quaternary ammonium salt silane-TCNQ adduct (ST) was prepared by reacting quaternary ammonium salt terminated silane with $Li^+TCNQ^-$ solution. Poly (dimethylsiloxane)-ST adduct (PST) was prepared by condensation of $\alpha,\omega-hydroxyl$ group terminated poly (dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS) with ST. Maleated polyethylene modified with PDMS (PST-g-MPE) was prepared by melt polymerization of maleated PE and PST in internal mixer and PST-g-MPE/carbon black (CB) and MPE/CB composites were prepared by compounding PST with MPE and PST-g-MPE, respectively. The thermal and mechanical properties of the composites were measured and dispersion characteristics of CB in matrix rosins show that the dispersion of CB in PST-g-MPE/CB was better than that of MPE/CB composite.
A study on the corrosion behavior of Inconel alloys and Incoloy 800H in molten salt of LiCl-$Li_2O$ was investigated at $650^{\circ}C$ for 24-312 hours in an oxidation atmosphere. The order of the corrosion rate was Inconel 600 < Inconel 601 < Incoloy 800H < Inconel 690. Inconel 600 showed the best performance suggesting that the content of Fe, Cr and Ni are the important factor for corrosion resistance in hot molten salt oxidation conditions. The corrosion products of Inconel 600 and Inconel 601 were $Cr_2O_3$ and $NiFe_2O_4$, In case of Inconel 690, a single layer of $Cr_2O_3$ was formed in the early stage of corrosion and an outer layer of $NiFe_2O_4$ and inner layer of $Cr_2O_3$ were formed with an increase of corrosion time. In the case of Incoloy 800H, $Cr_2O_3$ and $FeCr_2O_4$ were observed. Most of the outer scale of the alloys was observed to be spalled from the results of the SEM analysis and the unspalled scale which adhered to the substrate was composed of three layers. The outer layer, the middle one, and the inner one were Fe, Cr, and Ni-rich, respectively. Inconel 600 showed localized corrosion behavior and Inconel 601, 690 and Incoloy 800H showed uniform corrosion behavior. Ni improves the corrosion resistance and too much Cr and/or Fe content deteriorates the corrosion resistance.

The performance of Li-B alloy as anode for molten salt electrolysis was firstly investigated. The crystalline phase of the prepared Li-B alloy was identified as $Li_7B_6$. The potential profile of Li-B alloy anode was monitored during the electrodeposition of $Nd^{3+}$ onto an LCC (liquid cadmium cathode) in molten LiCl-KCl salt at $500^{\circ}C$. The potential of Li-B alloy was increased from -2.0 V to -1.4 V vs. Ag/AgCl by increasing the applied current from 10 to $50mA{\cdot}cm^{-2}$. It was found that not only the anodic dissolution of Li to $Li^+$ but also the dissolution of the atomic lithium ($Li^0$) into the LiCl-KCl eutectic salt was observed, following the concomitant reduction of $Nd^{3+}$ by the $Li^0$ in Li-B alloy. It was expected that the direct reduction could be restrained by maintaining the anode potential higher that the deposition potential of neodymium.

For replacing Li metal at Lithium ion Battery(LIB) system, we used carbon powder material which prepared by Pyrolysis of Phenol resin as starting material. It became amorphous carbon by Pyrolysis through it's self condensation by thermal treatment. Amorphous carbon can be doped with Li intercalation and deintercalation because it has wide interlayer. However, it has a problem with structural destroy due to weak carbon-carbon bond. So, we used $ZnCl_2$ as the pore-forming agent. This inorganic salt was used together with the resin serves not only as the pore-forming agent to form open pores, which grow into a three-dimensional network structure in the cured material, but also as the microstructure-controlling agent to form a loose structure doped with bulky dopants. We used SEM in order to find to difference of structure, and can calculate the distance of interlayer by XRD analysis. CV test showed oxidation and reduction.

A battery based on the lithium/elemental sulfur redox couple has the advantage of high theoretical specific capacity of 1,675 mAh/g-sulfur. However, Li/S battery has bad cyclic durability at room temperature due to sulfur active material loss resulting from lithium polysulfide dissolution. To improve the cycle life of Li/S battery, PEGDME (Poly(ethylene glycol) dimethyl ether) 500 containing 1M LiTFSI salt which has high viscosity was used as electrolyte to retard the polysulfide dissolution and nano-sized $Mg_{0.6}Ni_{0.4}O$ was added to sulfur cathode as additive to adsorb soluble polysulfide within sulfur cathode. From experimental results, the improvement of the capacity and cycle life of Li/S battery was observed( maximum discharge capacity : 1,185 mAh/g-sulfur, C50/C1 = 85 % ). Through the charge-discharge test, we knew that PEGDME 500 played a role of preventing incomplete charge-discharge $behavior^{1,2)$. And then, in sulfur dissolution analysis and rate capability test, we first confirmed that nano-sized $Mg_{0.6}Ni_{0.4}O$ had polysulfide adsorbing effect and catalytic effect of promoting the Li/S redox reaction. In addition, from BET surface area analysis, we also verified that it played the part of increasing the porosity of sulfur cathode.

A metal salt solution was prepared from valuable metals (Ni, Co, Mn) recovered from a scrap of waste lithium secondary batteries, and an NCM811 precursor was synthesized from the solution. The effect on precursor formation according to reaction time was confirmed by SEM, PSA, and ICP analysis. Based on the analysis results, the electrochemical properties of the synthesized NCM811 precursor and the commercial NCM811 precursor were investigated. The Galvano charge-discharge cycle, rate performance, and Cycle performance were compared, and as a result, there was no significant difference from commercial precursors.
SEI (solid electrolyte interphase) layers are generated on a graphite negative electrode from three different electrolytes and low-temperature ($-30^{\circ}C$) charge/discharge performance of the graphite electrode is examined. The electrolytes are prepared by adding 2 wt% of vinylene carbonate (VC) and fluoroethylene carbonate (FEC) into a standard electrolyte solution. The charge-discharge capacity of graphite electrode shows the following decreasing order; FEC-added one>standard>VC-added one. The polarization during a constant-current charging shows the reverse order. These observations illustrate that the SEI film resistance and charge transfer resistance differ according to the used additives. This feature has been confirmed by analyzing the chemical composition and thickness of three SEI layers. The SEI layer generated from the standard electrolyte is composed of polymeric carbon-oxygen species and the decomposition products ($Li_xPF_yO_z$) of lithium salt. The VC-derived surface film shows the largest resistance value even if the salt decomposition is not severe due to the presence of dense film comprising C-O species. The FEC-derived SEI layer shows the lowest resistance value as the C-O species are less populated and salt decomposition is not serious. In short, the FEC-added electrolyte generates the SEI layer of the smallest resistance to give the best low-temperature performance for the graphite negative electrode.

This study proposed a new electrolytic reduction technology that is based on the integration of simultaneous uranium oxide metallization and Li$_2$O electrowinning. In this electrolytic reduction reaction, electrolytically reduced Li deposits on cathode and simultaneously reacts with uranium oxides to produce uranium metal showing more than 99% conversion. For the verification of process feasibility, the experiments to obtain basic data on the metallization of uranium oxide, investigation of reaction mechanism, the characteristics of closed recycle of Li$_2$O and mass transfer were carried out. This evolutionary electrolytic reduction technology would give benefits over the conventional Li-reduction process improving economic viability such as: avoidance of handling of chemically active Li-LiCl molten salt increase of metallization yield, and simplification of process.

The glass ceramic secondary resource containing Li-Al-Si is used in inductor, fireproof glass, and transparent cookware and accounts for 14% of the total consumption of Li, which is the second most widely used after Li-ion batteries. Therefore, new Li resources should be explored when the demand for Li is exploding, and extensive research on Li recovery is needed. Herein, we recovered Li from fireproof Li-Al-Si glass ceramic, which is a new secondary resource containing Li. The fireproof glass among all Li-Al-Si glass ceramics was used as raw material that contained 1.5% Li, 9.4% Al, and 28.9% Si. The process for recovering Li from the fireproof glass was divided into two parts: (1) calcium salt roasting and (2) water leaching. In calcium salt roasting, a sample of fireproof glass was crushed and ground below 325 mesh. The leaching efficiency was compared based on the presence or absence of heat treatment of the fireproof glass. Moreover, the leaching rates based on the input ratios of calcium salt, Li-Al-Si glass, and ceramics and the leaching process based on calcium salt roasting temperatures were compared. In water leaching, the leaching and recovery rates of Li based on different temperatures, times, solid-liquid ratios, and number of continuous leaching stages were compared. The results revealed that fireproof glass ceramics containing Li-Al-Si should be heat treated to change phase to beta-type spodumene. CaCO3 salt should be added at a ratio of 6:1 with glass ceramics containing Li-Al-Si, and then leached 4 times or more to achieve a recovery efficiency of Li over 98% from a solution containing 200 mg/L of Li.

A colorless antistatic agent was prepared for use in antistatic films for liquid crystal displays (LCDs) requiring low surface resistance and high transmittance. Among various lithium-fluoro compounds and quaternary ammonium salts, antistatic materials were selected based on their electrical conductivity, and antistatic agents were prepared to measure the surface resistance. As a result, the material with high conductivity showed a relatively low surface resistance, i.e., relatively good antistatic performance. Based on the antistatic materials selected, the formulation ratio for producing the best antistatic agent was established through the experimental design method and the effects of each factor were analyzed. The higher the use of lithium- fluoro compounds as antistatic materials, the higher the ratio of oligomer use with multi-functional groups, and the smaller the surface resistance. The quaternary ammonium salts increased the antistatic performance of the lithium-fluoro compounds, but the effects of the amount used were not relatively large. After manufacturing the antistatic PET film, the properties of the antistatic film showed low surface resistance values (<109 Ω/sq.), high permeability (>92%), low haze (<0.5%), and high whiteness (L⁎>95). In addition, the antistatic film reliability was found to be excellent by showing a stable surface-resistance change rate of less than 10%, even under high temperature and high humidity conditions.
