오소리 지질이 인슐린 비의존형 당뇨환자의 건강상태 당뇨지표 및 혈청지질농도에 미치는 영향 (The Influences of Meles meles Oil on Health Status, Diabetic Index and Serum Lipid Profile in Non - Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus Patients)

  • 본 연구자들은 다른 동물성 지질에 비해 콜레스테롤 함량이 낮고 불포화지방산 함량이 높은 오소리 지질을 당뇨환자들에게 섭취시킨 후 혈당, 혈청의 당뇨지표 및 혈청 지질의 변화를 관찰하여 당뇨환자들에게 동물성인 오소리 지질 섭취가 혈당유지 및 합병증 관리 에 합당한가를 평가하여 오소리 지질을 기능성 식품의 원료로 활용할 수 있는가를 확인하고자 하였다. 일일 평균 7.26 g의 오소리 지질을 12주간 섭취한 후에 총 지질의 섭취량은 유의적 인 차이가 없었으나 $\omega$3계 지방산과 다가불포화지방산의 섭취량은 유의적으로 증가하였고 콜레스테롤의 섭취량은 유의적으로 감소된 결과를 나타냈다. 공복 시 혈당이 오소리 지질의 섭취에 따라 유의적인 상승을 나타내지 않았고 fructosamine과 glucagon농도는 오소리 지질의 섭취 6주째부터 유의적으로 상승되었다. 혈청의 LDL-콜레스테롤 및 중성지방의 농도는 오소리 지질 섭취에 따라 유의적으로 감소되었고 HDL-콜레스테롤 농도는 유의적으로 상승되었다. 또한 일반적인 건강상태 판정지표로 살펴볼 때 간기능 및 철분 영양상태가 증진되었다. 위의 결과들로 보아 제2형 당뇨환자의 12주간 오소리 지질의 섭취는 건강상태와 혈청지질 profile에는 유익한 영향을 주었고 따라서 동물성인 오소리 지질을 건강보조식품으로 사용하거나 기능성 식품의 원재료로 활용이 가능할 것으로 판단된다. 앞으로 오소리 지질 섭취 수준을 달리한 dose-response 실험을 통해 섭취 수준과 혈청지질 및 지방산 조성의 변화를 관찰하여 오소리 지질의 광범위한 활용을 위한 체계적인 자료를 더 확보하고자 한다.

건강하고 젊은 남녀의 비타민 E와 비타민 C 요구량에 영향을 미치는 요인 분석 (Analysis of Factors to Influence Requirements of Vitamins E and Vitamin C in Young and Healthy Men and Women)

  • Antioxidants such as vitamin C and E may play a preventive role in the development of cancer and coronary heart disease. The status of vitamins C and E may be affected by lifestyle habits such as smoking , drinking, and exercise. These habits can modify the dietary requirements of vitamin C and vitamin E. the purpose of this study was to determine whether Korean young healthy men and women consume vitamins C and E in sufficient quantities relative to their lifestyle habits. Among the participants in this study, 52% of the men and none of the women were smokers. ; 84% of all subjects drank alcohol more than once a week ; and the men exercised more often than the women. The concentrations of serum total , HDL-, and LDL- cholesterol were higher in the women than in the men, but the serum triglyceride concentrations were higher in the men than in the women. The men consumed less satuated fat than the women (p<0.05) . The daily intakes of vitamin C for the men and the women were 47.1mg and 65.6mg, respectively. On the other hand , the daily vitamin E intake was higher in the men (11.8mg) than women(6.9mg). The serum $\alpha$-tocopherol concentrations of all subjects were in a normal range, and in no subjects were they below the minimum value of ranges. However, about 19% of male subjects and 10% of female subjects showed deficient status, although the mean serum vitamin C levels were normal . Lifestyle habits fo the sort mentioned above have little influence on the serum vitamin C and $\alpha$-tocopherol concentrations. The serum $\alpha$-tocopherol concentration had a positive correlation with total fat and alcohol consumption. The serum vitamin C concentration was positively associated with regular exercise, but it was negatively correlated with the number of cigarettes smoked. Meanwhile, the serum lipid persoxide concentration , the indirect index of oxidative stress, was influenced by certain variable such as body mass index , the number of cigarettes smoked , alcohol consumption, energy expenditure, vitamin C intake, and serum ${\gamma}$-tocopherol concentration. Serum lipid peroxide concentration was positively associated with body mass index, the number of cigarette smoked , serum triglyceride , and HDL-cholesterol concentration. In conclusion , the vitamin E requirements of the subjects were met by the Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) regardless of lifestyle habits. However, serum vitamin C concentrations showed individual variation and was below the normal ranges. Smoking and exercise influenced serum vitamin C concentration. Therefore, a reevaluation of the requirements of vitamin C relative to lifestyle habits is necessary.

황금추출물이 고지방 식이를 급여한 흰쥐의 지질대사 및 항산화방어계에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Scutellaria baicalensis Water Extract on Lipid Metabolism and Antioxidant Defense System in Rats Fed High Fat Diet)

  • 황금열수추출물이 고지방 식이를 급여한 흰쥐의 체내 지질대사 및 항산화 체계에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위해 6주간 사육하여, 지질 농도, 항산화능 및 항산화 효소 활성도를 측정하였다. 최종 체중과 체중증가량은 군 간에 유의적인 차이가 없었다. 식이섭취량은 정상식이군보다 고지방식이군에서 유의하게 낮았고, 식이효율은 고지방식이군에서 정상식이군에 비해 유의적으로 높았다. 혈장의 HDL-콜레스테롤은 고지방식이군에 비하여 고지방 황금열수추출물군이 유의적으로 증가하였다. 중성지방은 정상식이 및 고지방섭취 시 모두 황금열수추출물 첨가군이 황금열수추출물 무첨가군에 비해 유의적으로 증가하였다. 간의 총 지질은 군 간에 차이가 없었고, 총 콜레스테롤은 고지방 섭취 시 황금열수추출물 첨가로 유의하게 감소하였으며 중성지방 농도는 정상식이군에 비하여 고지방식이군에서 유의적으로 증가하였다. HDL-cholesterol/total cholesterol은 고지방식이군에 비하여 고지방식이 황금추출물군에서 유의적으로 증가하였고, 동맥경화지수는 유의적으로 감소하였다. 혈장과 간의 지질과산화물 농도는 정상식이 섭취 시 황금열수추출물 섭취로 유의하게 감소하였다. 혈장의 TAS(total antioxidant status) 값은 고지방 섭취로 감소되었으며, 황금열수추출물 섭취로 유의하게 증가되었다. 간의 SOD, catalase 및 glutathione S-transferase 활성도는 정상식이 및 고지방섭취 시 모두 황금열수추출물 첨가군이 황금열수추출물 무첨가군에 비해 유의적으로 증가하였고, glutathione peroxidase 활성도와 glutathione 함량은 고지방섭취 시 황금열수추출물 첨가로 유의하게 증가하였다. 이상의 결과에서 고지방식이를 공급하였을 때 황금추출물의 섭취는 혈장과 간의 총콜레스테롤과 중성지방의 농도는 낮추고, 혈장의 HDL-콜레스테롤 농도, 총 콜레스테롤에 대한 HDL-콜레스테롤비율은 높이고 동맥경화지수를 낮추어 고지혈증 예방 및 치료에 효과적으로 사용될 수 있을 것으로 보인다. 또한 항산화 효소활성을 증가시켜 혈장과 간의 지질과산화물 함량을 낮춤으로써 산화적 스트레스를 억제하는 항산화제의 작용이 가능함을 시사해주었다.

영동지역 성인의 혈청지질 농도 및 이에 영향를 미치는 요인에 관한 연구 (Serum Lipid Levels and Related Factors of Adults in Yeongdong Area)

  • The purposes of this study were to investigate changes in serum lipid levels with age and gender, and to determine which factors affect the serum lipid profiles. The anthropometric parameters(height, weight, waist girth, hip girth) and biochemical status(cholesterol, triglyceride, HDL-chol.) were measured for clinically normal adults(male 89, female 91) in Yeongdong area. The results are as follows: 1. The obesity index was significantly higher in female($115.2{\pm}15.2%$) than in male($109.9{\pm}13.4%$), but waist/hip girth ratio(WHR) was significantly higher in male ($0.89{\pm}0.05$) than in female($0.81{\pm}0.06$). 2. Male subjects had higher triglyceride and atherogenic index and lower HDL-cholesterol and relative cholesterol than those of female subjects. 3. Prevalences of hypercholesteolemia, hypertriglyceridemia and hypoHDL-cholesterolemia were 9.0%, 9.0%, 14.6% respectively in male and 9.9%, 2.2%, 4.4% in female. 4. WHR positively correlated with serum cholesterol, TG, LDL/HDL and A.I., and negatively correlated with HDL-chol. and relative chol. Correlation analyses indicated that WHR seemed to be more closely associated with serum lipid levels(rather than obesity index). 5. Age showed positive correlations with waist girth, WHR, cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, LDL/HDL and A.I., but negative correlations with height, body weight and relative cholesterol. 6. There was significant differences in TG concentration between drinker($169.3{\pm}130.0mg/dl$) and non-drinker($111.4{\pm}64.5mg/dl$), and smoker($165{\pm}103.6mg/dl$) and non-smoker ($110.8{\pm}39.0mg/dl$). That is to say that as risk factors for hyperlipidemia are obesity index, serum lipid concentration, life style(such as alcohol drinking and smoking) and age. Specially major risk factors are drinking, smoking and regulated exercise in male and age is an important risk factor in female.

철분과 운동이 혈청 지질과 지단백 콜레스테롤에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Iron Supplementation and Training on Serum Lipid and Lipoprotein Cholesterol Profile)

  • 본 연구는 여자 축구선수 25명을 대상으로 혈중 지질성분과 철분지표를 조사 .분석하고, 훈련기 동안의 철분보충이 혈청 지질과 지단백 콜레스테롤에 미치는 영향을 살펴보았다. 여자축구선수들의 평균연령은 23.3$\pm$2.5세였고, 평균 신장과 체중은 각각 164.4$\pm$5.7cm과 57.4$\pm$4.6kg이었고, 체지방율은 23.9$\pm$3.0%였다. 혈액 철분지표 분석결과 평균 적혈구 용적, 헤모글로빈, 총철결합력은 정상범위 내에 있었으나 낮은 수준이었으며, 특히 평균 페리틴 (ferritin) 농도는 18.7$\pm$ 19.7 ${\mu}g$ $1^{-1}$로 낮았다. 혈청 지질과 지단백 분석 결과, 중성지질은 81.7$\pm$26.3mg $dl^{-1}$로 정상이나, 총 콜레스테롤과 LDL 콜레스테롤은 224.3$\pm$58.3 mg $dl^{-1}$과 162.2$\pm$59.0 mg $dl^{-1}$으로 높게 나타났다 상관관계 분서 결과 운동선수들의 적혈구 세포수가 많을수록 중성지질 농도가 낮고, 평균 적혈구 용적이 클수록 HDL-콜레스테롤 농도가 높아서 선수들의 철분 상태가 바람직할수록 혈액 지질 상태가 바람직한 것으로 나타났다. 한편, 철분 보충 여부는 혈청 지질 상태에 영향을 미치지 않았고,4주간 하계 훈련은 철분 투여에 관계없이 혈청 중성지방과 콜레스테롤을 낮추는 경향으로 나타났다. 결론적으로 여자 프로 축구 선수들의 혈청 굴성지질은 정상 범위 내에 속했으나, 콜레스테롤, 특히 LDL-콜레스테롤 수준이 정상보다 높았으며, 단기간의 철분 보충은 혈청 지질과 지단백 콜레스테롤에 큰 영향을 미치지 않았다.

Correlations among Anthropometric Measurements, Serum Lipid Levels and Nutrient Intake in Female University Students

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlations among the anthropometry, serum lipid levels and nutrient intake in Korean female university students. The subjects were 119 female students at a university located in Incheon. This study was conducted using a self-administered questionnaire. Anthropometric data were measured and blood lipid levels were analyzed. Nutrient intake collected from 3 day-recalls was analyzed by the Computer Aided Nutritional Analysis Program. The data were analyzed by SPSS 10.0 program. Average age, height and weight of the subjects were 20.9 years, 160.1cm and 54.3kg, respectively. Average serum TG (triglyceride), total cholesterol, HDL-C (high density lipoprotein-cholesterol) and LDL-C (low density lipoprotein-cholesterol) levels of the subjects were 69.47mg/dl, 146.85 mg/dl, 50.49mg/dl and 82.52mg/dl, respectively. Average AI (atherogenic index) of the subjects was 2.03, which was in the normal range based on risk values. Average intake of most nutrients except protein, vitamin B$_1$, vitamin C and phosphorus were lower than the Korean RDA. Especially calcium and iron intakes of the subjects were under 65% of the Korean RDA. Serum TG, total cholesterol and LDL-C levels were negatively correlated with DBP (diastolic blood pressure). HDL-C/LDL-C and HDL-C/total cholesterol were positively correlated with height. Age was positively correlated with phosphorus intake. DBP of the subjects was positively correlated with calcium and iron intakes. Serum TG level was positively correlated with total cholesterol, HDL-C, LDL-C and AI, while negatively correlated with HDL-C/total cholesterol. Total cholesterol level was positively correlated with HDL-C, LDL-C and AI, while negatively correlated with HDL-C/LDL-C, HDL-C/total cholesterol. HDL-C level was positively correlated with LDL-C, HDL-C/LDL-C and HDL-C/total cholesterol, while negatively correlated with AI. LDL-C level was negatively correlated with HDL-C/LDL-C and HDL-C/total cholesterol, while positively correlated with AI HDL-C/LDL-C ratio was positively correlated with HDL-C/total cholesterol and AI. HDL-C/total cholesterol was negatively correlated with AI. Fat intake was positively correlated with total cholesterol, HDL-C level, and vitamin B$_2$ intake was positively correlated with TG, HDL-C/LDL-C. Therefore, nutrition education is necessary for female university students to promote the lipid profile and to optimize the nutritional status. (J Community Nutrition 4(3) : 151∼158, 2002)

지골피와 생강 정제 추출물이 고지방식이 흰쥐의 체내 지질과 혈청 Cytokine 수준에 미치는 영향 (Effects of the purified extracts from Lycii Cortex Radicis and ginger on lipid statusand serum cytokine levels in rats fed high fat diet)

  • The present study was to investigate the effects of Lycii Cortex Radicis (LCR), the root bark of lycium (Lycium chenese Miller) and ginger (Gin) on body lipid status and serum levels of cytokines. Sprague-Dawley (SD) male rats weighing $193.6{\pm}16.8g$ were divided into five groups, including one low fat (LF) and four high fat groups, i.e. HF-Control, HF-LCR, HF-Gin and HF-LCR + Gin groups. Diets for HF-LCR, HF-Gin and HF-LCR + Gin groups contained purified extracts having 0.2 g LCR tyramine, ginerol and 0.1 g tyramine plus 0.02 g gingerol per kg, respectively. Compared with those of the HF-Control total serum cholesterol level decreased, and HDL-cholesterol level increased in the HF-LCR group and serum triglyceride levels decreased in the three experimental groups fed the purified extracts. Liver cholesterol level was lower in the HF-LCR group than the HF-Control group, but triglyceride levels, which were increased by high fat diets were not changed by significantly by LCR or ginger extracts. Fecal lipid excretion was higher in the HF-LCR and HF-Gin groups, but cholesterol excretion was lower in the HF-Gin group than in the HF-Control group. The activities of liver cytosolic glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase and malic enzyme were lower in the HF-LCR + Gin group than in the HF-Control group. Serum adiponectin levels did not differ among the five groups, while leptin level was lower in the HF-Gin group and C-reactive protein levels were lower in the HF-Gin and the HF-LCR + Gin groups than in the HF-Control group. It is concluded that LCR can be utilized as an ingredient for lipid-lowering functional foods in the form of purified extract and addition of small amount of ginger extract would be useful for reducing one of the inflammatory cytokines to help prevent atherosclerosis.

Study on the fatty acid profile of phospholipid and neutral lipid in Hanwoo beef and their relationship to genetic variation

  • Maize which has very high omega-6 fatty acid content has been used as a main feed grain for Hanwoo beef production to increase marbling, and thus omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids ratio in Hanwoo beef is expected to be biased. To elucidate the current status of omega fatty acids ratio in Hanwoo beef, fatty acid profiles of neutral lipid and phospholipid fraction were analyzed separately using 55 Hanwoo steers' longissimus dorsi muscle slaughtered at Pyeongchang, Korea from Oct. to Nov. 2015. In addition, an association study was conducted to evaluate associations between single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) markers from references and omega fatty acid profiles in phospholipid of Hanwoo beef samples using analysis of variance (ANOVA). In neutral lipid fraction, composition of saturated and monounsaturated fatty acids was higher and polyunsaturated fatty acids was lower compared to those in phospholipid fraction. The mean n-6/n-3 ratios of Hanwoo were $56.059{\pm}16.180$ and $26.811{\pm}6.668$ in phospholipid and neutral lipid, respectively. There were three SNPs showing statistically significant associations with omega fatty acid content. GA type of rs41919985 in fatty acid synthase (FASN) was significantly associated with the highest amount of C20:5 n-3 (p = 0.031). CC type of rs41729173 in fatty acid-binding protein 4 (FABP4) was significantly associated with the lowest amount of C22:2n-6 (p = 0.047). AG type of rs42187261 in FADS1 was significantly linked to the lowest concentration of C20:4 n-6 (p = 0.044). The total n-6/n-3 ratio of the steer which has all four SNP types in above loci (27.905) was much lower than the mean value of the total n-6/n-3 ratio in phospholipid of the 55 Hanwoo steers ($56.059{\pm}16.180$). It was found that phospholipid and neutral lipid of Hanwoo have very high n-6/n-3 ratios compared to the reported data from different cow breeds. Four SNPs in genes related with fatty acid metabolism showed significant associations with the fatty acid profile of phospholipid and may have potential as SNP markers to select Hanwoo steers in terms of n-6/n-3 balance in the future.

여대생의 피부상태에 따른 영양소 섭취와 항산화능 비교 (Comparison of Nutrient Intake and Antioxidant Status in Female College Students by Skin Types)

  • The objective of this study was to evaluate whether nutrient intakes and serum biochemical indices are associated with the skin condition of humans. Anthropometric data, skin surface hydration, ceramide content, dietary intake of nutrients and serum lipids (total cholesterol, HDL-, LDL-cholesterol, TG, MDA: malondialdehyde, TAS: total antioxidant status) were obtained from 36 healthy young women. Subjects were classified into 2 groups {LM: Low Moisture Group (n = 20) , HM: High Moisture Group (n = 16)} by forehead skin hydration. The results of this study were as follows: The average age, BMI, total body water, LBM, body fat$\%$, WHR, forehead hydration, ceramide content were 20.2 yrs, 20.7, 28.81, 39.2 kg, $28.0\%$, 0.8, $44.3\%$, and 1.05 $\mu$g/$\mu$g protein, repectively. The intakes of SF A (saturated fatty acid) , MUFA (monounsaturated fatty acid) in the HM group were significantly higher (p < 0.05) than in the LM group, but zinc intakes in the LM group were higher than in the HM group. Serum levels of TAS in the LM group (1.27 mmol/l) were significantly higher (p < 0.05) than that of in the HM group (1.20 mmol/l). Whereas other lipid levels were not significantly different, intakes of vitamin $B_{6}$ and folate showed significant positive correlation with the forehead hydration (r = 0.447, r = 0.377). Intakes of calcium and phosphorus showed significant negative correlation with forearm ceramide content (r = -0.496, r = -0.485). Several associations between nutrient intakes and skin conditions were observed, indicating that changes in baseline nutritional status may affect skin health.

Iron Status of Femele Athletes Involved in Aerobic Sports

  • The present study was designed to compare the nutrient intake and iron status of athletic female students majoring in aerobics (n=18) to those of age-matched(20-22 yr) sedentary controls (n=19). The athletic students were exercising regularly for 9.1$\pm$1.4 hrs/wk and the mean training period of aerobics was 2.9$\pm$0.2 years. Means of height, weight, and body mass index calculated as the Quetlet index were similar between athletic and sedentary students. However, mean body fat % of the athletic students (22.3$\pm$1.0%) was significantly lower than that of the sedentary controls (25.8$\pm$0.6%), indicating the effects of routine exercise. Mean daily iron intake was not significantly different between groups (9.9$\pm$0.7 mg vs. 10.9$\pm$0.8 mg), but much lower than the Korean RDA (18 mg/d) in both groups. Dietary calcium intake of the athletic students was significantly lower than that of the sedentary controls. Hematocrit (Hct) and hemoglobin (Hb) values were significantly lower in the athletic students than in the sedentary students (Hct : 40.0$\pm$0.7% vs. 43.8$\pm$0.5% ; Hb : 12.6$\pm$0.3g/dl vs. 14.8$\pm$0.3 g/dl). However, other iron status values such as serum iron, TIBC, and transferrin saturation were not significantly different between groups. Therefore, the low hemoglobin levels in the athletic group are probably due to plasma dilution in endurance-trained individuals. Serum ferritin level was a little lower in the athletic group, but no significant difference between groups was found. Serum triglyceride concentration in the athletic students was significantly lower than that in the control students. In conclusion the findings suggest that regular training of female athletes majoring in aerobics is associated with an increased risk of pseudoanemia due to plasma volume expansion and a decreased risk of coronary heart disease by decreasing body fat and blood lipid level.
