Nonlinear Model Predictive Control Using a Wiener model in a Continuous Polymerization Reactor

  • A subspace-based identification method of the Wiener model, consisting of a state-space linear block and a polynomial static nonlinearity at the output, is used to retrieve from discrete sample data the accurate information about the nonlinear dynamics. Wiener model may be incorporated into model predictive control (MPC) schemes in a unique way which effectively removes the nonlinearity from the control problem, preserving many of the favorable properties of linear MPC. The control performance is evaluated with simulation studies where the original first-principles model for a continuous MMA polymerization reactor is used as the true process while the identified Wiener model is used for the control purpose. On the basis of the simulation results, it is demonstrated that, despite the existence of unmeasured disturbance, the controller performed quite satisfactorily for the control of polymer qualities with constraints.

  • 연구개에 결함이 있는 사람의 발음은 부적절한 비음이 섞이게 되어 과비음성 비음이 되어 연구개를 복원해주는 시술을 하게 되는데, 과비음성 비음을 정량적으로 측정할 수있다면 시술 결과를 객관화 할 수 있게 된다. 현재 임상적으로 사용되고 있는 방법들은 관혈적이거나 고가의 장비를 필요로 한다. 본 논문에서는 비음의 특징인 스펙트럼에서 zero 의 존재와 비강에 의한 포만트의 존재 사실, 그리고 선형 예측 모델을 이용하여 마이크로폰과 사운드 카드가 장착된 PC로 구현할 수 있는 새로운 과비음성 비음 추정 알고리즘을 제안하였다. 음성 신호의 스펙트럼에 zero가 존재하는 경우, 낮은 차수(order)의 선형 예측 모델이 그 음성을 발음한 성도 시스템에 정확히 적용되지 않는다는 점을 이용하여, 같은 음성에 대한 높은 차수의 선형 예측 모델과의 차이를 이용해서 과비음성의 정량화를 시도했다. 본 논문에서는 제안된 알고리즘은 기존의 Teager Operator를 이용한 알고리즘에 비해서 Nasonmeter 의 측정결과와 더 높은 통계적 상관관계를 보여주었다.

Bilinear Inverse Model Predictive Control for Grade Change Operations Based on Artificial Neural Network (인공 신경회로망을 이용한 지종교체 공정의 Bilinear 역모델 예측제어)

  • In the grade change operations inputs and outputs are highly correlated and application of conventional linear feedback control methods such as PID schemes might lead to poor control performance. In this study the neural networks model for the grade change operation is trained by using bilinear terms which can represent non-linear characteristics of grade change operations. The inverse model of the grade change operation is obtained from training and the optimal input variables are computed from the trained neural networks as well. The proposed bilinear inverse model predictive control scheme was found out to showlittle discrepancy between simulated outputs and setpoints.

  • In order to measure the amount of carbon dioxide emitted from the construction sites, many literature which have been conducted have proposed methodologies for calculating coefficients based on actual data collections for estimating the emission formula. The existing data collected under controlled conditions not on site measurement were too limited to apply in actual sites. The purpose of this study is to conduct analysis based on the data measured in fields and to present predictive models using artificial neural network and nonlinear regression analysis for appropriate predictions and practical applications.

Adaptive Linear Predictive Coding of Time-varying Images Using Multidimensional Recursive Least-squares Ladder Filters

  • This paper presents several adaptive linear predictive coding techniques based upon extension of recursive ladder filters. A 2-D recursive ladder filter is extended to a 3-D case which can adaptively track the variation of both spatial and temporal changes of moving images. Using the 2-D/3-D ladder filter and a previous farme predictor, two types of adaptive predictor-control schemes are proposed in which the prediction error at each pel can be obtained at or close to a minimum level. We also investigate several modifications of the basic encoding methods. Performance of the 2-D/3-D ladder filters, their adaptive control schemes, and variations in coding methods are evaluated by computer simulations on a real sequence and compared to the results of motion compensation and frame differential coders. As a validity test of the ladder filters developed, the error signals for the different predictors are compared and evaluated.

  • This paper presents a model predictive control for shunt active power filters in synchronous reference frame using space vector pulse-width modulation (SVPWM). The three phase load currents are transformed into synchronous rotating reference frame in order to reduce the order of the control system. The proposed current controller calculates reference current command for harmonic current components in synchronous frame. The fundamental load current components are transformed into dc components revealing only the harmonics. The predictive current controller will add robustness and fast compensation to generate commands to the SVPWM which minimizes switching frequency while maintaining fast harmonic compensation. By using the model predictive control, the optimal switching state to be applied to the next sampling time is selected. The filter current contains only the harmonic components, which are the reference compensating currents. In this method the supply current will be equal to the fundamental component of load current and a part of the current at fundamental frequency for losses of the inverter. Mathematical analysis and the feasibility of the suggested approach are verified through simulation results under steady state and transient conditions for non-linear load. The effectiveness of the proposed controller is confirmed through experimental validation.

  • In this paper, the authors explore the modeling and control of a point absorber wave energy converter, which is connected to the electric grid via a power converter that is based on a linear permanent magnet synchronous generator (LPMSG). The device utilizes a buoyant mechanism to convert the energy of ocean waves into electrical power, and the LPMSG-based power converter is utilized to change the variable frequency and voltage output from the wave energy converter to a fixed frequency and voltage suitable for the electric grid. The article concentrates on the creation of a predictive control system that regulates the speed, voltage, and current of the LPMSG, and the modeling of the system to simulate its behavior and optimize its design. The predictive model control is created to guarantee maximum energy output and stable grid connection, using Matlab Simulink to validate the proposed strategy, including control side generator and predictive current grid-side converter loops.

  • This paper proposes an efficient two-stage fault prediction algorithm for fault detection and diagnosis of induction motors. In the first phase, we use a linear predictive coding (LPC) method to extract fault patterns. In the second phase, we use a dynamic time warping (DTW) method to match fault patterns. Experiment results using eight vibration data, which were collected from an induction motor of normal fault states with sampling frequency of 8 kHz and sampling time of 2.2 second, showed that our proposed fault prediction algorithm provides about 45% better accuracy than a conventional fault diagnosis algorithm. In addition, we implemented and tested the proposed fault prediction algorithm on a testbed system including TI's TMS320F2812 DSP that we developed.

  • One of the main reasons for serious road accidents is driving while drowsy. For this reason, drowsiness detection and warning system for drivers has recently become a very important issue. Monitoring physiological signals provides the possibility of detecting features of drowsiness and fatigue of drivers. One of the effective signals is to measure electroencephalogram (EEG) signals and electrooculogram (EOG) signals. The aim of this study is to extract drowsiness-related features from a set of EEG signals and to classify the features into three states: alertness, drowsiness, sleepiness. This paper proposes a drowsiness detection system using Linear Predictive Coding (LPC) coefficients and Support Vector Machine (SVM). Samples of EEG data from each predefined state were used to train the SVM program by using the proposed feature extraction algorithms. The trained SVM program was tested on unclassified EEG data and subsequently reviewed according to manual classification. The classification rate of the proposed system is over 96.5% for only very small number of samples (250ms, 64 samples). Therefore, it can be applied to real driving incident situation that can occur for a split second.
