  • In this paper, three kinds of the inverter topologies for the variable speed drive of 2-phase induction motor are compared and analyzed. The 2-phase inverters are classified into 2-leg, 3-leg, and 4-leg types depending on the number of power switching devices. And they use the output voltage vectors of the different forms according to the inverter topologies. Based on the comparative analyzed results, the effective values of output voltage have been defined by the linear modulation range. Therefore, the motor design guideline is proposed in order to decide a rated voltage of 2-phase induction motor according to the inverter topologies. Also, the computer simulations are carried out to verify the output voltage and current characteristics of each inverter topology.

  • This paper present experimental results of source identification for non-minimum phase system. Generally, a causal linear system may be described by matrix form. The inverse problem is considered as a matrix inversion. Direct inverse method can\`t be applied for a non-minimum phase system, the reason is that the system has ill-conditioning. Therefore, in this study to execute an effective inversion, SVD inverse technique is introduced. In a Non-minimum phase system, its system matrix may be singular or near-singular and has one more very small singular values. These very small singular values have information about a phase of the system and ill-conditioning. Using this property we could solve the ill-conditioned problem of the system and then verified it for the practical system(cantilever beam). The experimental results show that SVD inverse technique works well for non-minimum phase system.

  • PLL is a key item of power converter for power quality compensation and power flow control. This paper proposes a novel 3-phase PLL that is composed of ALC and PI controller. The operational principle was investigated through theoretical approach, and the performance was verified through computer simulations with MATLAB and experimental works with TMS320VC33 DSP board. The proposed 3-phase PLL shows accurate performance under the voltage disturbances such as sag, harmonics. phase-angle jump, and frequency change.

  • High-performance liquid chromatography is suitable for getting thermodynamic information about solute-solvent interactions. We used a squalane impregnated $C_{18}$ phase as a presumably bulk-like stationary phase to secure a simple partition mechanism for solute retention in reversed phase liquid chromatographic system. We measured retention data of some selected solutes (benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, propylbenzene, butylbenzene, phenol, benzylalcohol, phenethylalcohol, benzylacetone, acetophenone, benzonitrile, benzylcyanide) at 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, and 50 $^{\circ}C$ in 30/70, 40/60, 50/50, 60/40 and 70/30 (v/v%) acetonitrile/water eluents. The van't Hoff plots were nicely linear, thus we calculated dependable thermodynamic values such as enthalpies and entropies of solute transfer from the mobile phase to the stationary phase based on more than four retention measurements on different days (or weeks). We found that the cavity formation effect was the major factor in solute distribution between the mobile and stationary phases in the system studied here. Our data were com-pared with some relevant literature data.

  • We describe a comb-mode resolving spectroscopic technique by direct time-domain phase correction of unstable interferograms obtained from loosely locked two femtosecond lasers. A low-cost continuous wave laser and conventional repetition rate stabilization method were exploited for locking carrier and envelope phase of interferograms, respectively. We intentionally set the servo control at low bandwidth, resulting in severe interferograms' fluctuation to demonstrate the capability of the proposed correction method. The envelope phase of each interferogram was estimated by a quadratic fit of carrier peaks to correct timing fluctuation of interferograms in the time domain. After envelope phase correction on individual interferograms, we successfully demonstrated 1 Hz linewidth of RF comb-mode over 200 GHz optical spectral-bandwidth with 10-times signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) enhancement compared to the spectrum without correction. Besides, the group delay difference between two femtosecond pulses is successfully estimated through a linear slope of phase information.

  • This paper presents a general proposal to design and calculate the performance of a tubular permanent magnet linear generator treated here on the basis of the Finite Element Method. Optimizing the linear generator dimensions reduces the cogging force, which occurs due to the interaction between stator teeth and the permanent magnets. The generated AC voltage is analyzed and evaluated for both no load and load cases to take the armature reaction effects on the air gap flux density. A repetitive routine is followed to calculate the output AC voltage from the change of flux and the speed of the single-phase linear generator. The AC output voltage is calculated for different resistive loads, and hence, the linear generator load characteristic is obtained. The designed linear generator is capable to generate an output power of 5.3kW with AC output voltage of 222V with an efficiency of 96.8% at full load of 23.8A. The full load current is chosen based on the thermal properties of the coil wire insulations.

  • The effects of dietary exogenous hydrophilic emulsifiers on the growth, nutrient digestibility, and carcass characteristics of broilers were evaluated. A total of 200 one-day-old broilers (Ross 308) were allotted to one of four treatment groups in a randomized complete block design in five replicates with 10 birds per pen during a 5-week growth experimental period. Birds were fed a corn-soybean meal-based diet with or without the addition of 0.025, 0.050, or 0.075% exogenous hydrophilic emulsifiers. The diets contained 3,025 and 3,075 metabolizable energy/kg for Phases 1 and 2, respectively. For each phase and the overall experimental period, body weight gain (linear, P<0.05) and feed conversion ratio (linear, P<0.05) improved in proportion to the dietary exogenous hydrophilic emulsifier level, while the average daily feed intake was not affected by dietary treatment. Improvement in growth performance by dietary treatments was observed during the last two weeks rather than the first three weeks of the growth phase. In carcass traits, abdominal fat content increased as dietary exogenous hydrophilic emulsifier level increased (linear, P<0.05), whereas dietary emulsifier level did not affect the relative weight of the liver, breast, and leg muscles. In conclusion, addition of dietary exogenous hydrophilic emulsifiers from 0 to 0.075% in broiler diets improved the growth rate and feed efficiency of broilers without any deleterious effects on nutrient digestibility, although a corn-soybean meal-based diet had less energy content (3,025 and 3,075 metabolizable energy/kg) for 0-3 weeks and 3-5 weeks, respectively.

First, inductance profile of linear switched reluctance motor calculate at align and unalign position and phase resistance using analytical method. Analytical method of this paper used space harmonics method, also, analysis result compares with data that is derived through an finite element method, and proved validity. In dynamic simulation of linear switched reluctance, we analyzed dynamic characteristic of linear switched reluctance motor according to single pulse waveform and hard chopping voltage PWM.

  • In general, precise linear actuators using piezoelectric element are driven by friction force. Exact understanding of friction plays an important role in analysis and control of a motor. In this research, we designed a precise linear actuator using piezoelectric elements and observed its dynamic characteristics. By varying phase angle difference and amplitudes of the sinusoidal waves that are driving inputs, we can know that it is possible to control moving direction and distance of the slider. As preload is increased, its moving distance is decreased. And also, we have modeled a precise linear actuator using stick slip friction models such as classical, Karnopp. and reset integrator. Finally, by comparing the results of simulation and experiment, it was verified that the model is well designed.

  • This paper deals with eigenvalue assignment techniques for linear time-varying systems as a way of achieving feedback stabilization. For this, the novel eigenvalue concepts, which are the time-varying counterparts of the conventional (time-invariant) eigenvalue notions, are introduced. Then, the Ackermann-like formulae for SISO/MIMO linear time-varying systems are proposed. It is believed that these techniques are the generalized versions of the Ackermann formulae for linear time-invariant systems. The advantages of the proposed Ackermann-like formulae are that they neither require the transformation of the original system into the phase-variable form nor compute the eigenvalues of the original system. Two examples are given to demonstrate the capabilities of the proposed techniques.
