고성능 분산 합의 알고리즘 동향 분석 (Trend Analysis of High-Performance Distributed Consensus Algorithms)

  • Recently, blockchain has been attracting attention as a high-reliability technology in various fields. However, the Proof-of-Work-based distributed consensus algorithm applied to representative blockchains, such as Bitcoin and Ethereum, has limitations in applications to various industries owing to its excessive resource consumption and performance limitations. To overcome these limitations, various distributed consensus algorithms have appeared, and recently, hybrid distributed consensus algorithms that use two or more consensus algorithms to achieve decentralization and scalability have emerged. This paper introduces the technological trends of the latest high-performance distributed consensus algorithms by analyzing representative hybrid distributed consensus algorithms.

Challenges and innovations in hematopoietic stem cell transplantation: exploring bone marrow niches and new model systems

  • Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) remains an indispensable therapeutic strategy for various hematological diseases. This review discusses the pivotal role of bone marrow (BM) niches in influencing the efficacy of HSCT and evaluates the current animal models, emphasizing their limitations and the need for alternative models. Traditional animal models, mainly murine xenograft, have provided significant insights, but due to species-specific differences, are often constrained from accurately mimicking human physiological responses. These limitations highlight the importance of developing alternative models that can more realistically replicate human hematopoiesis. Emerging models that include BM organoids and BM-on-a-chip microfluidic systems promise enhanced understanding of HSCT dynamics. These models aim to provide more accurate simulations of the human BM microenvironment, potentially leading to improved preclinical assessments and therapeutic outcomes. This review highlights the complexities of the BM niche, discusses the limitations of current models, and suggests directions for future research using advanced model systems.

수질유해물질 배출허용기준 설정에 따른 배출시설 비용영향 분석사례 연구: 1,4-Dichlorobenzene을 중심으로 (Case Study of Cost Effect Analysis for Toxic Compounds to Developing Effluent Limitation Standards : Focus on 1,4-Dichlorobenzene)

  • Recently, regulations on toxic compounds in aquatic environment have been strengthened in korea due to the increasing public awareness of the water quality. Typically, these regulations include introduction of emerging toxic compounds and stricter effluent limitations for the already regulated compounds. However, too strict regulations may cause excessive burden on the industry. Therefore it is also important to assess the economic impacts when the new effluent limitation guidelines are introduced. The estimation of the additional cost for the wastewater dischargers to meet the new guidelines are based on the selected treatment technology to handle the hazardous substances and the regulatory levels for effluent limitations. To explore the procedures for cost estimation in enforcing new effluent limitations, a case study was performed specially for 1,4-dichlorobenzene. The pollutants of concern are surveyed for different industrial categories and various treatment technologies. For a given pollutant, the general performances of the treatment technologies are surveyed and a representative technology is selected. For a given technology, the capital cost and annual Operation and Maintenance (O&M) cost was calculated. The calculation of baseline costs to operate ordinary treatment technologies is also important. The ratio between the cost for introducing new treatment process and the baseline cost required for conventional technology was used to evaluate the economic impact on the industry. For 1,4-dichlorobenzene, steam stripping and activated carbon processes were selected as the specific treatment technologies. The cost effects to the regulation of the compound were found to be 6.4% and 14.5% increase in capital cost and O&M cost, respectively, at the flow rate over $2,000m^3/d$ for the categories of synthetic resin and other plastics manufacturing industry. For the case of petrochemical basic compounds manufacturing industry, the cost increases were 5.8% and 12.4%, respectively. It was suggested that cost effect analysis to evaluate the economic impacts of new effluent limitations on the industry is crucial to establish more balanced and reasonable effluent limitations to manage the industrial wastewater containing emerging toxic compounds in the wastewater.

근로능력평가지표의 취업에 대한 영향 비교: 장애등급, ICF 활동참여수준, 일상생활 도움필요정도 및 자기평가건강상태를 중심으로 (Effects of work ability on the employment status of people with disabilities: Comparing degrees of disability, ICF activity limitations & participation restriction, levels of assistance needed for daily activities, and self-assessed health status)

  • 근로능력은 장애인소득보장정책과 장애인고용정책에서 정책대상자를 선정하는 핵심요인이다. 우리나라에서 사용하고 있는 근로능력평가지표인 장애등급은 의학적 손상에 기초하여 결정되는 것으로, 제대로 근로능력을 평가하지 못한다는 비판을 받고 있다. 이 연구에서는 장애등급, ICF 활동참여수준, 일상생활도움필요정도 및 자기평가건강상태의 4 근로능력평가지표들이 장애인의 취업여부에 대한 설명력을 비교함으로써 가장 적절한 평가지표를 찾아 내고자 하였다. 그 결과, ICF 활동참여수준이 장애인의 취업여부에 대한 설명력이 가장 높았으며, 이어서 일상생활도움필요정도, 장애등급, 그리고 자기평가건강상태의 순으로 나타났다. 결론적으로 장애인연금제 및 장애인고용정책 등에서 적절하게 활용할 수 있는 근로능력평가지표는 ICF 활동제한 및 참여제약 영역에 해당하는 지표들이라고 할 수 있다. 따라서 ICF 활동제한 및 참여제약 영역을 바탕으로 한 근로능력 평가지표가 장애등급보다 더 적절한 근로능력평가지표라고 할 수 있을 것이다.

EasyConnection : 이질 데이터베이스들의 효율적 연동 방식 (EasyConnection : An Efficient Approach to Integrating Heterogeneous Databases)

  • There have been several approaches to integrating heterogeneous database systems in enterprises. Due to their inherent limitations, however, it has been difficult to apply them to actual situations in enterprises. In this paper, we propose EasyConnection, a system that is based on the flexible and extensible architecture and overcomes the limitations of the previous approaches, EasyConnection consists of Wrappers, Sharing Manager, and Clients, and the connections among these components are based on CORBA. It can also be used as the information management mechanism for such application systems as ERP, PDM, and EAI.

정보기술의 발전단계에 관한 연구 (A study on the evolution stages of information technology)

  • There is no generally accepted definition of information technology (IT) although this is an important issue in the management information systems (MIS) area. In an effort to address this issue, the evolution of IT is reviewed from a historical perspective. A historical review on IT suggests that its evolution be broken down into three stages in a systematic way. Further, the identification of mainstream research interests at each stage makes a contribution in part to defining IT. Two approaches to defining IT are identified, and limitations of each approach are discussed. Finally, a better way to address these limitations is suggested.

  • Network Coding approach to IP tracback was proposed by Sattari et al. [5] in order to reduce number of packets required to trace the source of a single attack scenario. In this paper, we analysis and point out limitations and problems of their proof for benefit of network coding to IP traceback.

  • This study aims to analyze the reserch result about housing history of multi-disciplines especially archeology, cultural anthropology, folklore, geography, archtecture and dwelling science. Each discipline has acted an important role to develop the research on housing history, even though they have some limitations. They usually failed in clarfying the relationship among physical housing, habitants and social environment.   • Polymer electrolytes - solid polymeric membranes with dissolved salts - are being intensively studied for use in all-solid-state lithium-metal-polymer consumer electronic device. The low ionic conductivity at room temperature of existing polymer electrolytes, however, has seriously hindered the development of such batteries for many applications. The incorporation of salts molten at room temperature (room temperature ionic liquids or RTILs) into polymer electrolytes may be the necessary solution to overcoming the inherent ionic conductivity limitations of 'dry' polymer electrolytes.

  • In this paper, the complex nonlinear dynamics of a satellite is obtained. And it is shown that several limitations exist when the magnetorquer is used as an active actuator to attitude control. Such limitations cause a delayed convergence of pitch and roll angle. The simulation results insure that the roll angle bias is dependent on the z axis spin rate. And a heuristic algorithm is applied to control the attitude libration through the computer simulations.
