  • The purpose of this paper is to find an limitation to detect the defect of damaged asphalt pavement structures for infrared thermography. We use heat source of a natural light to detect the defect efficiently. The heat source was applied to the asphalt specimens. Four asphalt specimens were used: one was the asphalt containing depth of 1cm internal timber, two was the asphalt containing depth of 2cm internal void, Three was the asphalt containing depth of 3cm internal timber and four was not the asphalt containing internal timber. It was found that the depth of 3cm internal timber could be detected by this method. In addition, we used the image processing to make the damage zone displayed clear in the image obtained from the thermographic operation.

  • In this work, analytical bias arising from the gas chromatographic determination of sulfur compounds was evaluated by the application of direct loop injection method to the GC/PFPD detection of four sulfur compounds including H$_{2}$S, CH$_{3}$SH, DMS, and DMDS. For the proper evaluation of analytical uncertainties involved in GC calibration, we employed two comparative techniques of calibration at fxed concentration injection (CFCI) vs calibration at fixed volume injection (CFVI) method. The results of our study indicate that CFCI method exhibits very poor sensitivity due to the matrix effect with varying injection volumes. On the other hand, as CFVI method overcomes such limitation, it can be used to obtain very accurate quantification of S compounds at their high concentration levels above a few to a few tens ppb.

  • As the service industry continues to grow in importance, a new research field called service science has formed so as to conduct more comprehensive and scientific analysis of service. However, much further research is required until we can develop the common terminology and methodology for service design and improvement. A foundational step toward this is giving a lucid definition to service which reflects the intrinsic qualities of it. Many of the service definitions mentioned in existing studies had the limitation that they considered service as the residual from physical products, or tried to conceptualize service based on some characteristics. In this paper we compare and analyze existing studies, discuss about the essential nature of services, and suggest a more comprehensive investigation into service.

  • Kano model distinguishes three types of customer requirements, namely, one-dimensional quality, must-be quality, and attractive quality. There are a few methods for classifying a given customer requirement into one of the Kano's quality elements. However, the existing methods have a common limitation in that they are based on Kano evaluation table. Kano evaluation table is not always effective for the classification task, and suffers from a significant information loss. This paper proposes an alternative to Kano's evaluation table and a new classification scheme based on fuzzy set concept. The proposed method is illustrated using a case study on the ADSL service.

  • Six sigma has been the most influential management innovation program in a number of leading companies and its application has extended beyond manufacturing processes. Most companies have taken company-wide six sigma initiatives to also improve transactional and R&D processes. However, due to the limitation of existing methodologies, numerous difficulties arise during the six sigma application to non-manufacturing processes. In this study, a modified six sigma framework is proposed to facilitate six sigma implementation to transactional processes. The newly developed framework is applied to a six sigma project of the new product launching process of a marketing area.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to analyze the relationship between R&D investment and growth rate of manufacturing firms in Incheon. Methods: The balanced panel data of 246 firms which have existed for the period 2001-2012 are constructed. As a method of analysis, fixed effects panel data model is used. Results: There is a one year lag in the relationship between R&D intensity and the subsequent sales growth of firms and its relation depends on the firms' characteristics. Conclusion: We suggest the emphasis on R&D investment for firms' growth and the differentiated R&D program based on firm size. This article has the limitation that various types of R&D investment cannot be included in this analysis.

  • Fragment molecular orbital (FMO) method provides a novel tool for ab initio calculations of large biomolecules. This method overcomes the size limitation difficulties in conventional molecular orbital methods and has several advantages compared to classical force field approaches. While there are many features in this method, we here focus on explaining the issues related to protein-ligand binding: FMO method provides useful interaction-analysis tools such as IFIE, CAFI and FILM. FMO calculations can provide not only binding energies, which are well correlated with experimental binding affinity, but also QSAR descriptors. In addition, FMO-derived charges improve the descriptions of electrostatic properties and the correlations between docking scores and experimental binding affinities. These calculations can be performed by the ABINIT-MPX program and the calculation results can be visualized by its proper BioStation Viewer. The acceleration of FMO calculations on various computer facilities is ongoing, and we are also developing methods to deal with cytochrome P450, which belongs to the family of drug metabolic enzymes.

  • Recently, the study on development of electrical and electronic device is done to get miniature, high degrees of integration and efficiency by using inorganic materials, the study of Langmuir-Boldgett(LB) method that uses organic materials because of the limitation for the ultra small size. In this paper, detected displacement current using PBLG and PBDG, deposition and observed the electrical characteristics to each 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 layers by LB method. Maximum value of change ratio of displacement current by the detected speed and temperature appeared almost lineally, could confirm that it are in comparison relation each other speed-temperature and displacement current. The structure of manufactured device is MIM. Also, we then examined of the MIM device by means of I-V. The I-V characteristic of the device is measured from 0 to +2[V]. The insulation property of a thin film is better as the distance between electrodes is larger.

  • In this paper, switching overvoltages are analyzed for future 765kv power system using EMTP(Electro Magnetic Transient Program) and compared with TNA (Transient Network Analyzer) study results which was previously undertaken during overseas training in 1980 and 1988. The result shows the maximum of 2.10 PU at midpoint of 310Km transmission line which is higher than those of TNA study by 0.4 PU. The deviation of EMTP result from TNA is caused by limitation of nonlinear representation and also frequency dependent modeling in EMTP. Further analysis are required to get more exact switching overvoltage factors for future KEPCO 765KV system not only by EMTP but also TNA.

  • The purpose of this study is finding the spatial character for autogenous space design through the violation of Nam-dae-mun market. The violation is defined as the possession of space in excess of one's property. In Nam-dae-mun market, the violation is sanctioned by usage. Through the violation, Nam-dae-mun market naturally acquires autogenous energy and pliability. According to three steps, this research proceed. 1. To investigate the limitation of modern architecture and the meaning of the violation. 2. To research the present condition of Nam-dae-mun market and the process of spatial formation. 3. To compare 'F' building in Nam-dae-mun with Sam-ik fashion building which was redeveloped.
