Analysis of Dynamic Stability of Limit-cycle Navigation Method (Limit-cycle 항법의 동역학적 안정성 분석)

  • Because the stability of obstacle avoidance ability is important for the safe operation of mobile robots, this paper deals with the analysis of dynamic stability of Limit-cycle navigation method that was proposed by authors. Limit-cycle navigation method is fast and easy to implement for fast moving mobile robots using limit-cycle characteristics of the 2nd-order nonlinear function. It can be applied to robots in dynamically changing environment such as the robot soccer. By adjusting the radius of the motion circle and the direction of the obstacle avoidance, the mobile robot can avoid the collision with obstacles and move to the destination point. The stability of Limit-cycle navigation method is analyzed with a linear model. To demonstrate the effectiveness and applicability, it is applied to the robot soccer Simulations and real experiments ascertain the merits of the proposed method.

  • In this paper, we propose a novel navigation method combined Nearness Diagram, Limit-Cycle method and the Vector Field Method for avoidance of unexpected obstacles in the dynamic environment. The Limit-Cycle method is used to obstacle avoidance in front of the robot and the Vector Field Method is used to obstacle avoidance in the side of robot. And the Nearness Diagram Navigation is used to obstacle avoidance in the nearness area of the robot. The performance of the proposed method is demonstrate by simulations.

  • In this paper, we propose a novel navigation method combined limit-cycle method and the vector field method for avoidance of unexpected obstacles in the dynamic environment. The limit-cycle method is used to obstacle avoidance in front of the robot and the vector field method is used to obstacle avoidance in the side of robot. The proposed method is tested on pioneer 2-DX mobile robot. The simulations and experiments demonstrate in the effectiveness of the proposed method for navigation of a mobile robot in the complicated and dynamic environments.

  • This UGV (Unmanned Ground Vehicle) is not only widely used in various practical applications but is also currently being researched in many disciplines. In particular, obstacle avoidance is considered one of the most important technologies in the navigation of an unmanned vehicle. In this paper, we introduce a simple algorithm for path planning in order to reach a destination while avoiding a polygonal-shaped static obstacle. To effectively avoid such an obstacle, a path planned near the obstacle is much shorter than a path planned far from the obstacle, on the condition that both paths guarantee that the robot will not collide with the obstacle. So, to generate a path near the obstacle, we have developed an algorithm that combines an edge detection method and a limit-cycle navigation method. The edge detection method, based on Hough Transform and IR sensors, finds an obstacle's edge, and the limit-cycle navigation method generates a path that is smooth enough to reach a detected obstacle's edge. And we proposed novel algorithm to solve local minima using the virtual wall in the local vision. Finally, we verify performances of the proposed algorithm through simulations and experiments.

  • A mobile robot should be designed to navigate with collision avoidance capability in the real world, coping with the changing environment flexibly. In this paper, a novel navigation method is proposed for fast moving mobile robots using limit-cycle characteristics of the 2nd-order nonlinear function. It can be applied to robots in dynamically changing environment such as the robot soccer.   • This paper deals with the enhancement of the complex potential navigation for wheeled mobile robots. The circle theorem from complex function theory is used to avoid an obstacle, and the enhancement to avoid multiple obstacles is proposed. The limit cycle navigation can be combined for robot to kick the ball to the intentioned direction. Avoiding step and superposing twin vortices can be applied to adjust the direction of robot's trajectory. The proposed method is verified through a set of simulation works, and the feasibilities for the enhancement of complex potential theory are successful.

  • This paper suggests a new method for making a navigation path by using Bezier curve in order to improve the navigation performance used to avoid obstacles during a robot soccer game. We analyzed the advantages and disadvantages of both vector-field and limit-cycle navigation methods, which are the mostly widely used navigation methods for avoiding obstacles. To improve the disadvantages of these methods, we propose a new design technique for generating a more proper path using Bezier curve and describe its advantages. Using computer simulations and experiments, we compare the performance of vector-field navigation with that of Bezier curve navigation. The results prove that the navigation performance using Bezier curve is relatively superior to the other method.

  • In general mechanical servo systems, friction deteriorates the performance of controllers by its nonlinear characteristics. Especially, friction phenomenon causes steady-state tracking errors and limit cycles in position and velocity control systems, even though gains of controllers are tuned well in linear system model. Even if sensor is used higher accuracy level, it is difficult to improve tracking performance of the position to the same level with a general control method such as PID type. Therefore, many friction models were proposed and compensation methods have been researched actively. In this paper, we consider that the variation of mover's mass is various by loading and unloading. The normal force variation occurs by it and other parameters. Therefore, the proposed control system is composed of main position controller and a friction compensator. A parameter estimator for a nonlinear friction model is designed by adaptive control law and adaptive backstepping control method.

  • What is the national competitive power\ulcorner What are the determinants of national competitive advantage\ulcorner In order to find these problems, this study was initiated theoretically through the international trade theory and international managerial strategic theory. The flow of studies, in connection with these competitive advantage, come into industries competitive advantage from national competitive advantage. It is understood that the flow of studies is based on the change of paradigm about the international industry environment. Today, the international industry environment has been changed into vigorous situation with the new trade system such as globalization, UR negotiation, WTO system instead of GATT. Among these environments, all enterprises in any industries should try to enhance their benefit, income profits and develop their management strategy, because it is essential for them to keep and make a profit in order to be competitive against all other rivaling enterprises. According to researchers and the ages of history, the concept and determinants of competitive advantage have been dissimiliar as followings. 1) Theory of absolute advantage : Absolute Product Cost. 2) Theory of comparative advantage : Comparative Product Cost. 3) Theory of reciprocal demand : the Reciprocal Demand Structure. 4) Theory of Hechsher-Ohlin : Factor Endowment. 5) Paradox of Leontief : the Quality of Factor Endowment. 6) Theory of technological gap : R & D. 7) Technological gap model : The Technological Gap. 8) Theory of the product life cycle : Product Life Cycle. 9) Christensen's study : Firm's character & manager's character. 10) Monopolistic Advantage Theories : Monopolistic Advantage 11) Electic theory : Ownership, location and internalization specific advantages. 12) Theory of value chain : Cost advantage, Differentiation, Focus. However all these theories have the limit of illustration regarding today's competitive situation, the Porter's theory shows well the determinants of competitive advantage with competitive strategy.   • The goal of this paper is to determine optimal hardware platform for specific applications. In order to develop an understanding of how select the optimal platform, we focus upon the real-time embedded vehicle system for processing forward image and sound. In this paper we propose to measure parameters such as instructions, execution cycle, required memory size for program and data by using ARMulator. We have measured three types of processor cores: ARM7, ARM9 and ARM10. The results of the study indicated that the proposed methods could measure the minimal requirements of hardware platform for specific applications. By defining lower limit of hardware specifications in embedded systems, we can minimize expenses with suitable system performance without implementing the system.
