Effects of Correlated Color Temperature of LED Light Sources and a Flourescent Light Source on Visual Performance (LED광원과 형광광원의 상관색온도가 시작업 성능에 미치는 영향)

  • Recently, from an environmental conservative point of view, the need of high-efficiency lighting system, using LED(Light Emitting Diode) light sources have been increased. However, applied LED light sources without regard to its color and pattern provide visual discomfort to occupant. The objective of this study is not only to evaluate the performance of task work under different correlated color temperature condition, but also furnish the preliminary data as concerning its purpose and user of inner space. For the purpose of this study, two types of LED light sources and a fluorescent light source were selected. Thirty undergraduate students served as the participants. Two different task work sheets were conducted to evaluate the accuracy and duration of time. Results from subjective performance, task work of error modification showed that LED light sources were 2.5[%] higher in accuracy with 17.1[%] lower duration than a fluorescent light source. In the case of reading task work, It is presented 20.6[%] decrease with the LED light sources comparison with a fluorescent light source.

  • The influence of digital media according to environmental change of multi-media came to have significance more than what we imagine. In accordance with high resolution of HDTV in digital media era, the cautious awareness is required for skin color by the immediate color such as replica of TV color, lighting and clothing. As for the broadcasting makeup expression technique caused by a change in broadcasting environment in the digital media era, the first, There is necessity for natural makeup technique, and for expressing the whole makeup evenly and very delicately. The makeup work gets much more delicate. For the delicate expression, more time is being required than the existing makeup time. Second, Lots of time and manpower are required for elaborate real-object processing on all the production fields such as background set, stage properties, and makeup. Third, Realistic expression is available on the screen. Importance of basic makeup is highlighted. Thus, even the skin care shop came to be prevalent. Development in only HD cosmetics is needed for foundation with fine particle in new material and with diverse colors hereafter. The video-media field is a method that is ignored a sense of distance through vehicles such as camera, picture tube, and several kinds of broadcasting machinery and equipment and that is delivered vividly to viewers through screen, unlike the stage makeup, thereby being needed the makeup technology proper for HDTV according to the changing broadcasting environment and media. The video machinery and equipment are proceeding with being gradually high-tech and precise. Thus, an expert in makeup needs to know common sense on the video machinery and equipment before makeup, and needs to make an effort according to it. And, a follow-up research can be said to be necessary on the advance in makeup method and on more diverse dedicated cosmetics along with a research on color tone proper for HDTV.

Luminance Correction for Stereo Images using Histogram Interval Calibration (히스토그램 구간 교정을 이용한 스테레오 영상의 휘도 보정)

  • In stereo-view system, variations of target camera position or lighting conditions cause discrepancies on the luminance and chrominance components of stereo views. These discrepancies lead to inaccurate frame view prediction and low quality of 3 D video coding. In this paper, an efficient histogram interval calibration method is proposed for stereo-view coding, so as to compensate for the luminance component of target view. First the proposed method is analyzed by the histogram of the target image frame. Then, it divide two sections of histogram of that frame to correct the color discrepancies. Secondly, each section of the target frame is corrected the luminance component by identify the maximum matching region between the reference frame and the target frame. We have verified our proposed histogram matching method in comparison with the other color correction ones. Experimental results show that it can correct better luminance calibration results of PSNR(Peak Signal to Noise Ratio) and has less computation time.

Wireless LED Streetlight Platform with Weather Monitoring and Color Temperature Control System (기상 모니터링과 색 온도 제어 시스템을 지원하는 무선 LED 가로등 플랫폼 설계 및 구현)

  • In this paper, we propose the design of LED Streetlight Platform with capabilities of weather monitoring and color temperature control. Several previous works are focused on the energy efficiency or data management of streetlight system, but no work has been done on the lighting performance, especially when natural phenomenon such as fog or haze appears on the street and obstructs the visibility of drivers and pedestrians. To solve such issue, we propose the use of two LED lamps with different correlated color temperature, which will be activated interchangeably according to the condition on the street. We also present the design of communication scheme between each devices in the system. Moreover, our experimental results show the LED Streetlight Platform can perform well and the data can be displayed properly at the website.

  • This paper proposes a new design of a video-base fire detection system using texture and color spatial distribution information. The video sequences used are taken in different days with different lighting conditions having different backgrounds. The time complexity of most previous vision-based fire detection techniques are very high due to lengthy programing. To overcome the problems of lengthy codes and time complexity, in this algorithm, at first we normalize the video image frames by size and color information. Then the spatial distribution of the color information is used to extract the candidate regions, later using visual texture of the fire, we detect the fire regions. The experimental results show an real-time fire detection over thousands of image frames, and have higher detection rate when compared to the conventional fire detection techniques.

  • Recently, autonomous vehicles have been studied actively. There are various technologies such as ITS, Connected Car, V2X and ADAS in order to realize such autonomous driving. Among these technologies, it is particularly important to recognize where the vehicle is on the road in order to change the lane and drive to the destination. Generally, it is done through GPS and camera image processing. However, there are limitations on the reliability of the positioning due to shaded areas such as tunnels in the case of GPS, and there are limitations in recognition and positioning according to the state of the road lane and the surrounding environment when performing the camera image processing. In this paper, we propose that LED lights should be installed for autonomous vehicles in tunnels which are shaded area of the GPS. In this paper, we show that it is possible to measure the position of the current lane of the autonomous vehicle by analyzing the color temperature after constructing the tunnel LED lighting simulation environment which illuminates light of different color temperature by lane. Based on the above, this paper proposes a lane positioning technique using tunnel LED lights.

Vision-Based hand shape recognition for a pictorial puzzle (손 형상 인식 정보를 이용한 그림 맞추기 응용 프로그램 제어)

  • In this paper, we describe a system of controlling the pictorial puzzle program using information of hand shape. We extract hand region using skin color information and then principal component analysis uses centroidal profile information which comes blob of 2D appearance for hand shape recognition. This method suit hand shape recognition in real time because it extracts hand region accurately, has little computation quantity, and is less sensitive to lighting change using skin color information in complicated background. Finally, we controlled a pictorial puzzle with using recognized hand shape information. This method has good result when we make an experiment on application of pictorial puzzle. Besides, it can use so many HCI field.

  • TheReviser is a digital document revision application on a projection display, which allows us to interact a digital document with the same gestures used for paper documents revision. To enable these interactions, TheReviser should detect foreground objects such as hands or pens on a projection display, and should spot and recognize gesture commands from continuous movements of a user. To detect foreground objects from a complex background in various lighting conditions, we perform geometry and color calibration between a captured image and a frame buffer image. TheReviser uses an HMM-based gesture recognition method Experimental results show that the proposed application recognizes user's gestures on average 93.22% in test gesture sequences.

Sensibility Estimation Analysis about Treatment Circumstance of Children with Autism (자폐성 장애아동 치료환경에 대한 감성평가분석)

  • This study verified a hypothesis "treatment circumstance that considers character of children with autism has an effect on emotion stability", and I set the final aim to suggest emotional design elements according to treatment program and also to construct basic data about study of treatment circumstance of children with autism. So I conduct a survey of teachers of nine centers for the disabled about "satisfaction about treatment circumstance, importance of design elements of treatment circumstance that increase children's with autism stability, sensibility estimation about treatment circumstance" and committed statistical analysis. As the results, emotional design elements that have to be improved are the wall finishing material, the color of the wall, and the artificial lighting. The color of the wall has an effect on importance of treatment circumstance and emotional design elements influence 47% to satisfaction of treatment circumstance. It get the positive result about the hypothesis "treatment circumstance that considers character of children with autism has an effect on emotion stability".

Face Feature Extraction for Face Recognition (얼굴 인식을 위한 얼굴 특징점 추출)

  • A face recognition is currently the field which many research have been processed actively. But many problems must be solved the previous problem. First, We must recognize the face of the object taking a location various lighting change and change of the camera into account. In this paper, we proposed that new method to fund feature within fast and correct computation time after scanning PC camera and ID card picture. It converted RGB color space to YUV. A face skin color extracts which equalize a histogram of Y ingredient without the luminance. After, the method use V' ingredient which transformes V ingredient of YUV and then find the face feature. The reult of the experiment shows getting correct input face image from ID Card picture and PC camera.
