We investigated the period variation for 79 eclipsing binary systems using 20 years (1990-2009) of EROS, Macho, and OGLE survey observations. We discovered 9 apsidal motions, 8 mass transfers, 5 period increasing and decreasing systems, 12 light-travel-time effects, 5 eccentric systems and 40 other systems showing no period variations. We select 3 representative eclipsing binary systems; EROS 1052 for apsidal motion, EROS 1056 for mass transfer, and EROS 1037 for the light-travel-time effect. We determine the period variation rate (dP/dt), orbital parameters of the 3rd body (e3, ${\omega}_3$, $f(m_3)$, $P_3$, $T_3$), apsidal motion parameters ($d{\omega}/dt$, U, Ps, Pa, e) and apsidal motion period by analyzing the light curves and O-C diagrams.

The aim of using grape-bagging paper is preventing damages by light and harmful insects during grape growth. The number of using grape-bagging paper has been increasing because advantages of using it have been confirmed. A technology to produce it has not been fully developed yet. In this study properties of the grape-bagging paper were analyzed. Results showed that air-permeability and transmitted light of grape-bagging paper were important. It was tried to see the influence of paper structure on air-permeability, transmitted light and the grapes saccharinity. For making different structure of grape-bagging paper, papers were produced with different freeness levels at several pressure conditions. Coloration time of Campbell grape with new bagging paper started about 5 days earlier than that with usual bagging paper, It was also possible to improve the saccharinity about 0.1-N0.8 Brix. Because new bagging paper has a low apparent density, it affected the saccharinity and coloration time of grape.
Objectives : The purpose of this study was to investigate of the color change, tooth surface and intra-pulpal temperature of tooth bleaching by light activation Methods : Forty-eight extracted bovine teeth were immersed into a tea solution for 24 hours. The specimens were randomly divided into four groups(n=15):(G1) 15% HP + without light activation, (G2) 15% HP + light activation, (G3) 25% HP + without light activation, (G4) 25% HP + light activation. All specimens were bleached for 15 minutes three times. The spectrophotometer (CM-2600d, Konica Minolta, Osaka, Japan) was used including before bleaching, immediately after bleaching, 1 week, 1 and 3 months after the end of bleaching. The temperature rise were measured in the pulpal chamber and tooth surface with a digital thermocouple thermometer(Termopar Digital Multimeter, Tektronix DMM916, USA). Between the tested time points, the specimens were stored in distilled water. The data were analyzed by ANOVA, t-test and Tukey's post hoc test set at 0.05. Results : There was no significant color change by the use of light after the bleaching treatment(p>0.05). The dental bleaching treatments of teeth with 15% HP and 25% HP did not seem to be more effective when light source was used. There was no difference in color stability between groups within three month(p>0.05). There was an increase in tooth surface and pulp temperature, but it was not sufficient to cause damage to the pulp. Conclusions :The use of light activation has no obvious effective impact on the tooth bleaching effect.
The effects of nacl concentration, temperatura, light and growth regulator(GA3, kinetin) on the tuber germination of s. maritimus were investigated. The germination percentage increased with decreasing nacl, showing salt tolerance through time, and with increasing temperature untile 20~30oC light / dark (12/12 hr) of optimal temperature. The multiplication of nacl and temperature on germination percentage and velocity, increased significantly in higher temperature than lower temperature in saline. The germination percentage showed high value in dark condition than in light condition which is the charracteristics of underground organ. and ga3 act as germination stimulator to overcome the inhibitory effect of nacl. The effect of ga3 showed significant differances on tubers of s. maritimus of germination but that of kinetin had a litter sffects on germination. Factors of nacl and temperature interacted significantly and the effects of nacl on germination percentage and velocity depended on temperature condition.
PURPOSE. This study was to evaluate the effect of rinsing time on the accuracy of interim crowns fabricated by digital light processing. MATERIALS AND METHODS. The maxillary right first molar master die was duplicated using a silicone material, while a study die was produced using epoxy resin. Scans of the epoxy resin die were used in combination with CAD software to design a maxillary right first molar interim crown. Based on this design, 24 interim crowns were fabricated with digital light processing. This study examined the trueness and precision of products that were processed with one of the three different postprocessing rinsing times (1 min, 5 min, and 10 min). Trueness was measured by superimposing reference data with scanned data from external, intaglio, and marginal surfaces. Precision was measured by superimposing the scan data within the group. The trueness and precision data were analyzed using Kruskal-Wallis, nonparametric, and post-hoc tests, and were compared using a Mann-Whitney U test with Bonferroni correction (α=.05). RESULTS. The trueness of the external and intaglio surfaces of crowns varied significantly among the different rinsing times (P=.004, P=.003), but there was no statistically significant difference in terms of trueness measurements of the marginal surfaces (P=.605). In terms of precision, statistically significant differences were found among the external, intaglio, and marginal surfaces (P=.001). CONCLUSION. Interim crowns rinsed for 10 minutes showed high accuracy.

A light-guide is one of several important components of backlight unit in TFT-LCD. The manufacturing technology and optical system design of the light guide is very sensitive to quality and cost of the TFT-LCD module. In the present study a new manufacturing method which is called as direct surface forming(DSF) has been tested under various conditions. DSF is very similar to the well-known hot embossing except for partial contact between mold and substrate. The final V-groove pattern shows different shapes depend on the temperature of mold surface, contact time of mold and depth of V-groove.

The purpose of this study is to develop the Photodynamic Therapy Equipment for medical treatment. We developed the equipment which was helpful in palpating wound healing by using 525 nm LEDs. The equipment was assembled with a micro-controller and green color LEDs, and designed to enable us to control light irradiation time, intensity and so on. In this study, the designed device was used to find out how 525 nm LEDs light affected the skin wound of SD-Rat(Sprague-Dawley Rat). We divided the participants into two groups; irradiation group which was irradiated one hour a day for 9 consecutive days, and none irradiation group. The results showed that the study group had lower incidence of inflammation and faster recovery, compared with the control group.

By using the general theoretical framework proposed recently for treating the fluorescence quenching kinetics, we investigate the effect of light pulse intensity on the decay of fluorescence which follows excitation of fluorophors by the light pulse of very short but finite duration. It is seen that conventional theory breaks down when the exciting light pulse has a pulse width comparable to the fluorescent lifetime and its intensity is very high. We also find that even when the light intensity is not too high, conventional theory may fail in either of the following cases: (i) when the quencher concentration is high, (ii) when there is an attractive potential of mean force between the fluorophor and quencher, or (iii) when the energy transfer from the fluorophor to the quencher may also occur at a distance, e.g., via dipole-dipole interaction. The validity of the predictions of the present theory may thus be tested by fluorescence quenching experiments performed under such situations.
This paper presents a novel shore-to-sea maritime data transmission system based on time-code diversity, using visible light in maritime environments to overcome the limitations of conventional maritime wireless communications. The proposed system is primarily comprised of existing LED-based lighthouses and maritime transceivers (marine beacons, buoys, etc.), and thus is considered cost-effective in terms of implementation. We first analyze maritime visible-light communications on the basis of the unique properties of a maritime environment, i.e. sea states (wave height, wind speed, etc.), plus atmospheric turbulence, using the Pierson-Moskowitz (PM) and JONSWAP (JS) spectrum models. It is found that the JS model outperforms the PM model, and that the coverage distance depends on the LED power and sea states. To combat maritime fading conditions that significantly degrade performance and coverage distance, we propose a time-code diversity (TCD) scheme in which the delayed versions of the original data are retransmitted using orthogonal Walsh codes. This TCD scheme is found to be superior, in that it offers three orders of magnitude in terms of BER performance, compared to a conventional (non-TCD) transmission scheme. The proposed scheme is robust and efficient in overcoming the effect of impairments present in maritime environments with a BER of approximately $10^{-5}$and a data rate of 100 Kbps at a distance of 1 km.
