Shoreline changes its shapes and attribution dynamically by natural, unnatural acts and is the most information for country. These shorelines can apply to framework data of MGIS (Marine Geographic Information System), and they are getting important to implement a phase of monitoring around coastal areas. This study proposed an algorithm automatically extracting shorelines to use a new developed LiDAR (Light Detection And Ranging) data which is applying in ocean and coastal areas. Then, in result, it was compared to shorelines which is derived from ground survey. In result, it shows stable shorelines in various coast areas such as nature, artificial coast. Additionally, and a possibility of shoreline extraction through LiDAR data.
LIDAR(Light Detection and Ranging) is a new technology for obtaining DEM(Digital Elevation Model)ewith high density and high point acuracy. As LIDAR emerged, DEM could be developed in the earthsurface more efficiently and more economically, compared to the conventional aerial photogrametry. In this study, a digital camera is simultaneously used in combined LIDAR surveying, and acquired digitial image and DEM produce digital orthoimage. In this process, methods of combining sensor andorthoimage, GCPs determined by GPS surveying are used. Two digital orthoimage are produced; onewith a few GCP and the other without them. The produced maps can be used to corect or revised1:1,000 or 1:5,000 scale maps acordingly.
In managing building facilities, spatial information is the basic data for decision making. However, the method of acquiring spatial information is not easy. In many cases, the site and drawings are often different due to changes in facilities and time after construction. In this case, the site data should be scanned to obtain spatial information. The scan data actually contains spatial information, which is a great help in making space related decisions. However, to obtain scan data, an expensive LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) device must be purchased, and special software for processing data obtained from the device must be available.Recently, SLAM (Simultaneous localization and mapping), an advanced map generation technology, has been spreading in the field of robotics. Using SLAM, 3D spatial information can be obtained quickly in real time without a separate matching process. This study develops and tests whether SLAM technology can be used to obtain spatial information for facility management. This draws considerations for developing a SLAM device for real-time remote scanning for facility management. However, this study focuses on the system development method that acquires spatial information necessary for facility management through SLAM technology. To this end, we develop a prototype, analyze the pros and cons, and then suggest considerations for developing a SLAM system.
Information technology advances are allowing conventional surveillance systems to be combined with mobile communication technologies, creating ubiquitous monitoring systems. This paper proposes monitoring system that uses smart camera technology. We discuss the dependence of interior orientation parameters on calibration target sheets and compare the accuracy of a three-dimensional monitoring system with camera location calculated by space resectioning using a Digital Surface Model (DSM) generated from stereo images. A monitoring housing is designed to protect a camera from various weather conditions and to provide the camera for power generated from solar panel. A smart camera is installed in the monitoring housing. The smart camera is operated and controlled through an Android application. At last the accuracy of a three-dimensional monitoring system is evaluated using a DSM. The proposed system was then tested against a DSM created from ground control points determined by Global Positioning Systems (GPSs) and light detection and ranging data. The standard deviation of the differences between DSMs are less than 0.12 m. Therefore the monitoring system is appropriate for extracting the information of objects' position and deformation as well as monitoring them. Through incorporation of components, such as camera housing, a solar power supply, the smart camera the system can be used as a ubiquitous monitoring system.

This paper describes the track initiation and target-tracking filter for ship tracking in a marine environment by using Light Detection And Ranging (LiDAR). LiDAR with three-dimensional scanning capability is more useful for target tracking in the short to medium range compared to RADAR. LiDAR has rotating multi-beams that return point clouds reflected from targets. Through preprocessing the cluster of the point cloud, the center point can be obtained from the cloud. Target tracking is carried out by using the center points of targets. The track of the target is initiated by investigating the normalized distance between the center points and connecting the points. The regular track obtained from the track initiation can be maintained by the target-tracking filter, which is commonly used in radar target tracking. The target-tracking filter is constructed to track a maneuvering target in a cluttered environment. The target-tracking algorithm including track initiation is experimentally evaluated in a sea-trial test with several boats.

LiDAR (Light Detection And Ranging) strip adjustment is process to improve geo-referencing of the ALS (Airborne Laser Scanner) strips that leads to seamless LiDAR data. Multiple strips are required to collect data over the large areas, thus the strips are overlapped in order to ensure data continuity. The LSA (LiDAR Strip Adjustment) consists of identifying corresponding features and minimizing discrepancies in the overlapping strips. The corresponding features are utilized as control features to estimate transformation parameters. This paper applied SURF (Speeded Up Robust Feature) to identify corresponding features. To improve determination of the corresponding feature, false matching points were removed by applying three schemes: (1) minimizing distance of the SURF feature vectors, (2) selecting reliable matching feature with high cross-correlation, and (3) reflecting geometric characteristics of the matching pattern. In the strip adjustment procedure, corresponding points having large residuals were removed iteratively that could achieve improvement of accuracy of the LSA eventually. Only a few iterations were required to reach reasonably high accuracy. The experiments with simulated and real data show that the proposed method is practical and effective to airborne LSA. At least 80 % accuracy improvement was achieved in terms of RMSE (Root Mean Square Error) after applying the proposed schemes.
The steady evolution of mapping technology is leading to an increasing availability of multi-sensory geo-spatial datasets, such as data acquired by single-head frame cameras, multi-head frame cameras, line cameras, and light detection and ranging systems, at a reasonable cost. The complementary nature of the data collected by these systems makes their integration to obtain a complete description of the object space. However, such integration is only possible after accurate co-registration of the collected data to a common reference frame. The registration can be carried out reliably through a triangulation procedure which considers the characteristics of the involved data. This paper introduces algorithms for a multi-primitive and multi-sensory triangulation environment, which is geared towards taking advantage of the complementary characteristics of spatial data available from the above mentioned sensors. The triangulation procedure ensures the alignment of involved data to a common reference frame. The devised methodologies are tested and proven efficient through experiments using real multi-sensory data.

Object recognition belongs to high-level processing that is one of the difficult and challenging tasks in computer vision. Digital photogrammetry based on the computer vision paradigm has begun to emerge in the middle of 1980s. However, the ultimate goal of digital photogrammetry - intelligent and autonomous processing of surface reconstruction - is not achieved yet. Object recognition requires a robust shape description about objects. However, most of the shape descriptors aim to apply 2D space for image data. Therefore, such descriptors have to be extended to deal with 3D data such as LiDAR(Light Detection and Ranging) data obtained from ALS(Airborne Laser Scanner) system. This paper introduces extension of chain code to 3D object space with hierarchical approach for segmenting point cloud data. The experiment demonstrates effectiveness and robustness of the proposed method for shape description and point cloud data segmentation. Geometric characteristics of various roof types are well described that will be eventually base for the object modeling. Segmentation accuracy of the simulated data was evaluated by measuring coordinates of the corners on the segmented patch boundaries. The overall RMSE(Root Mean Square Error) is equivalent to the average distance between points, i.e., GSD(Ground Sampling Distance).

Nowadays 3D terrestrial laser scanners record high precision three-dimensional coordinates of numerous points on an object surface in a short period of time. So terrestrial laser scanner is applied to a wide variety of fields including geodesy, and civil engineering, archaeology and architecture, and emergency service and defence, etc. This study deals with the potential application of terrestrial laser scanner in the reconnaissance surveying. The results shows that terrestrial laser scanner is possible to extract the linear features and the positioning accuracy of objects measured by total station surveying is comparative to that by terrestrial laser scanner. Thereafter, it is expected that the potential applications of terrestrial laser scanning will be more increased by combining terrestrial laser scanners with airborne LiDAR (Light Detection And Ranging) and photogrammetric technology.
A study on Nacelle Lidar (Light detection and ranging) measurement error and the data reliability verification was carried out at Haengwon wind farm on Jeju Island. For measurement data error processing, the characteristics of Nacelle Lidar measurements were analyzed by dividing into three parts, which are weather conditions (temperature, humidity, atmosphere, amount of precipitation), mechanical movement (rotation of wind turbine blades, tilt variation of Nacelle Lidar) and Nacelle Lidar data availability. After processing the measurement error, the reliability of Nacelle Lidar data was assessed by comparing with wind data by an anemometer on a met mast, which is located at a distance of 200m from the wind turbine with Nacelle Lidar. As a result, various weather conditions and mechanical movement did not disturb reliable data measurement. Nacelle Lidar data with availability of 95% or more could be used for checking Nacelle Lidar wind data reliability. The reliability of Nacelle Lidar data was very high with regression coefficient of 98% and coefficient of determination of 97%.
