The purpose of this study was to investigate the relation between health behavior patterns and demographic, socio-economic characteristics, health status, health information in Korea. The quantification method through canonical correlation analysis was conducted to the data from Korea National Health Survey in 1995, which consisted of 5,805 persons. The health lifestyle patterns were quantified as good diet lifestyle, passive lifestyle to the negative direction and drinker lifestyle, smoker lifestyle, hedonic lifestyle and fitness lifestyle to the positive direction. The covariate were related to health lifestyle patterns in the order of sex, age, marital status, occupation, health information, economic status, level of physical labour and health status. Characteristics of male, age below 50, married, blue colored worker, no health information, low in economic status, heavy level of physical labour, and poor in health status were positively related to drinker lifestyle, smoker lifestyle, hedonic lifestyle, fitness lifestyle sequentially.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between Korean lifestyle characteristics and health status and to identify the variables influencing health in Korea. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive correlational design was used to explore the lifestyle characteristics and health status of 397 Korean adults. Correlational analysis calculated the correlation between lifestyle and health status. To examine the relationship among demographic characteristics, lifestyle, and health status we used the t-test and one-way ANOVA. Stepwise multiple regression was conducted to examine the significant predictors of general health among subjects. Results: Positive correlations were seen between general health (GH) and the overall score and subscales of the Lifestyle. The stepwise regression model showed that vitality (VA), body pain (BP), nutrition, and occupation were significant variables influencing general health (GH). Conclusions: These findings provide evidence regarding the lifestyle patterns and healthstatus among Koreans. When planning intervention strategies for this population, exercise and physical activity should be principal focus areas.
In 21 Century, people's living standards and material requirements have been continuously improved with the development of society. The demand for commercial space is not merely content with purchases. What's more, the consumers want to experience some activities offered by the brand while shopping. In this paper, we mainly research the spatial structure and the spatial expressional characteristics of brand lifestyle shop of Korean brands built in Seoul area. First, through the documentary research, we get the four characteristics of interior space performance of brand lifestyle shop, which are, interaction, proximity, symbolism and compound. Secondly, we select 8 brand lifestyle shops in the Seoul area as the object of this study, and analyze the actual application of the four characteristics in these cases. Thirdly, through the analysis of case study, we make a concrete analysis of the expressional characteristics of Korea's brand lifestyle shop. Finally, we reach the conclusions: First, the brand lifestyle shop provides space for both brands and consumers to communicate with each other. Second, in brand lifestyle shop there is a special space which is different from the other commercial space. The existence of this special space makes brand lifestyle shop more personalized and more specialized, and makes the customers have more interesting when they are shopping. Third, compared with the sales space, the non-sales space accounts for a larger proportion. Fourth, in spatial representation, interaction plays a role in connecting brands with consumers. Fifth, brand lifestyle shop has the same spatial concept, but it has different application and embodiment in each case. Each brand lifestyle shop has its own unique features. This is the economic strategy used by brand sustainable development and expansion.
The purposes of this study were to analyze the lifestyle of women in their 50's and 60's and to provide the basis fur the efficient strategy of silver market by classifying women in their 50's and 60's according to lifestyle types and investigating the effect of consumers' lifestyle and demographic characteristics on consumers' clothing evaluation criteria and buying place. In this study, a selfㆍadministered questionnaire was distributed to women in their 50's and 60's. 226 questionnaires of 350 were used in the following analysis. The data were analyzed with the SPSS package. The results of this study were as follows. First, lifestyle were analyzed to find out the underlying factors, and then the subjects were grouped according to factor scores by the cluster analysis. Four lifestyle types were defined. They were the traditional family-oriented, the ostentatious purchase, the economical material-oriented, the active economics-oriented type. Second, a consumer's clothing evaluation criteria were classified according to three characteristics - aesthetic, practical and ostentatious. A consumer's clothing evaluation criteria were significantly different depending on the consumer's lifestyle and demographic characteristics. All lifestyle types except ostentatious purchase type considered practical characteristic like easiness of washing/care, harmony with other clothing, quality and price. The higher education, income and clothing expense, the more a customer considered ostentatious characteristic like fashionability and reputation of brand in selection of clothing.
A study on Composing Unit Spaces of Apartment Houses according to the Differentiation in Lifestyle by survey on preferences. The purpose of this study is to propose composition models of unit spaces for 85m2 net area apartment houses by lifestyle types. This study set up a hypothesis that there is a critical divergence of preferences in composition types of unit spaces according to lifestyle. To prove the hypothesis, investigation on variable floor plans of apartments to extract spatial composition types of units and questionnaire survey on lifestyleand preferences for composition types were implemented. To extract several factors regarding, characteristics of lifestyle, factor analysis, was implemented for each variable. Cluster analysis was conducted to cluster interviewees by similarity of lifestyle. To identify and define how each factor reacts, ANOVA and cross tabulation analysis between factors and clusters were used. The type of spatial composition was analyzed by plane characteristic, spatial relation and spatial usability on the basis of apartment plate type. As a result, lifestyle was divided into three types: reasonable lifestyle, trend-seeking lifestyle and conservative lifestyle. As, the result of investigating characteristics for the type of spatial composition according to the type of lifestyle, preferred types and main districts were different. Therefore, the hypothesis was proved.
The purpose of this study were 1) to identify the differences between homosexual and heterosexual men in clothing behaviors(fashion leadership, preference for up-to-date style and sexual attractiveness), lifestyle and sex-role attitudes, and 2) to investigate the relation- ships between clothing behaviors and lifestyle and sex-role attitudes. The data was collected via self-administered questionnaires from 183 adult men(88 homosexual, 95 heterosexual men) living in Seoul, and was analyzed by factor analysis, t-test, correlations and multiple regressions. The result of this study were as follows: 1. Two factors of fashion leadership. were identified: fashion opinion leadership and fashion innovativeness. Four factors of lifestyle were identified: appearance awareness, self-confidence, authoritativeness, and achievement. 2. The result of t-test between homosexual and heterosexual men in clothing behaviors and psychological characteristics, homosexual men showed higher scores in fashion innovativeness, fashion opinion leadership, preference for up-to-date style, and appearance awareness of lifestyle characteristics. 3. From the result of analyzing the effects of psychological characteristics on 4 variables of clothing behaviors, appearance awareness of lifestyle characteristics was found to be the most influential factor for all the clothing behavior variables in both groups.
Purpose: This study was undertaken in order to examine the relationships of control, perceived health status, self-efficacy, social support, and demographic characteristics for a health promoting lifestyle in college women, and to determine the factors affecting a health promoting lifestyle of women in the early stage of adulthood. Method: There were 161 students from one university in K city. The instruments used for this study were a survey of general characteristics, a health promoting lifestyle (47 items), control (8 items), perceived health status (6 items), self-efficacy (17 items), and social support (18 items). The data analysis was done by use of mean, percentage, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson Correlation coefficients and stepwise regression with the SPSS Win (Version 10.0) program. Results: The results of this study are as follows : 1) The average item score for the health promoting lifestyle was low at 2.39. In the sub-categories, the highest degree of performance was interpersonal support (2.97), and the lowest degree was health responsibility (1.76). 2) In the relationship between social demographics and a health promoting lifestyle, there were significant differences in age, disease experience, and the family's disease experience. 3) Social support revealed only significant correlations with a health promoting lifestyle. 4) Social support was the highest factor that predicted a health promoting lifestyle in college women (15%). Social support, age and disease experience accounted for 20% in a health promoting lifestyle of college women.
Recently, there has been increase perception of health promotion with development of the economic state and science. Individual's responsibility and psychosocial factors have impacted on the individual's lifestyle. Health promotion can be maintained or improved through changes of lifestyle of individuals. Also, there has been supported results of health behavior health has been focused on menopausal symptom and reproductive organ. Until recently, little research has been available on the health or health care of midlife women. The purpose of this study was to explain relationship between health promoting lifestyle and hardiness, gender role characteristics. A total of 254 items of data were obtained from randomly selected subjects. The data collected from the interviews were analyzed using SPSS, yielding frequency, mean. t-test, ANOVA, Pearson Correlation, Stepwise multiple regression. The result of this study are as follows : 1) For the health promoting lifestyle, the mean score was 116.3, the highest score was nutrition(3.30) and interpersonal support(2.86), the lowest score was exercise(1.68). The highest subscale for the hardiness was committment(2.44). Also for the gender role characteristics was higher than median score(37.8). 2) There was a statistically difference the demographic variables. A total health promotion lifestyle was predicted by income and marriage satisfaction, hardiness was predicted by education, income, marriage satisfaction, support person and gender role characteristics was predicted by education. 3) With regard to the relationship among health promoting lifestyle, hardiness, gender role characteristics, the correlation coefficient between health promoting lifestyle and hardiness was r=-.48, p<.001. Also there were significant correlation between health promoting lifestyle and gender role characteristics(r=.22, p<.01), hardiness and gender role characteristics(r=-.39, p<.001). 4) A stepwise multiple regression analysis was done on the total health promoting lifestyle score using the demographic variables, hardiness subscale and gender role characteristics for independent variables. A total of 25% of the variance was explained inthe total health promoting lifestyle by the control, challenge and marriage satisfaction. In conclusion, hardiness and gender role characteristics were engaged in health promoting activity in midlife women. This study also provides new information about the health practices that midlife women report they practice. Therefore, nursing intervention to increase women's health have to be planed program that consider on the basis the results of this study.
The purposes of this study were to analyze 'well-being' lifestyle pursuits depending on consumer types and to classify female consumer types according to their 'well-being' awareness. This study also intended to examine the levels of consumers' participation in pursuing a 'well-being' lifestyle, and to find female consumers' characteristics related to well-being lifestyle. The results of study were as follows: First, female consumers were classified in terms of their lifestyle by using their participation in, and awareness of well-being concerns. The results were divided into four groups: society/family-oriented group, 'well-being' oriented leading group, trend-oriented material wealth pursuit group, and selt~centered/fashionable appearance-oriented group. Second, the results of examining characteristics by female consumer type in terms of their pursuit of a well-being lifestyle show that the 'well-being' oriented leading group had the greatest number of innovators and followers. Also, the trend-oriented material wealth pursuit group consisted of mostly medium level participants, and the self-centered/fashionable appearance-oriented group had the greatest number of 'well-being' lifestyle bystanders. With regards to practical participation group, significant differences were found in the sections of 'health', 'leisure' and 'whole', except for 'appearance management'. With regards to purchase experience of 'well-being' products, the health-oriented leading group was the highest participation level in the sections of 'clothes' and 'food', except for 'residence', in which the society/family-oriented group was the highest. Third, demographical characteristics within female consumer types classified by 'well-being' lifestyle showed that the society/family-oriented group had a high percent of. dedicated housewives in their forties or fifties, and the trend-oriented material wealth pursuit group has a high percent of married people in their twenties or thirties. Also, the self-oriented/fashionable appearance-oriented group had a high percent of unmarried. people in their twenties.
The purpose of this study is to establish strategy by subdividing consumer market according to the lifestyle which influences the use of medical facilities. The subject of this study were 700 adults who were over 20 years of age and residing in Suwon and its vicinity. To collect data trained staff conducted person-to-person interviews with the assistance of structured questionnaires. The questionnaires cover the areas of life style pattern study. the characteristics of demographic sociology, decision-making process related to the use of medical service. The influencing factors were analyzed and as a result total 18 factors were singled out. Cluster analysis was performed to differentiate similar responses. Each group was named as 'health-unconcern type' 'passive health-concern type' 'regular health-concern type' and 'active health-concern type' according to the characteristics. Each group showed statistically significant difference in the characteristics of demographic sociology. Decision-making process regarding the use of medical service according to lifestyle was analyzed. As a result following items showed significant difference:whether the information was utilized, what was the criteria in selecting medical facilities for serious illness or complicated examination. who was the decision maker in selection medical facilities, and with whom one discussed in selecting medical facilities. The result of this study has its limitation in that it can not be applied directly to market subdivision. However, this will help medical facilities understand customers' lifestyle. which will eventually provide medical facilities with marketing tools in establishing effective PR strategy. In order to apply the lifestyle as a marketing tool of medical facilities, following tasks are to be carried out: the development of the questionnaire which can better analyze consumers' lifestyle related to the use of medical service. the examination of precise characteristics of subdivided market according to lifestyle. and the continuing study on the relationship between lifestyle and the process in selecting medical facilities.
