  • Objectives: The study was performed to examine the dietary behaviors and life stress of middle school students in the Gyeonggi area. Methods: A total of 580 middle school students (295 males, 285 females) in the Gyeonggi area participated in the study between July and August in 2011. The study was a questionnaire-based survey that included dietary habits, dietary behaviors, and life stress. Results: For dietary habits, the score for drinking milk was higher in male students than in female students, whereas the score for eating fruits was higher in female students compared to male students. There were significant differences in foods eaten and preferred under stress between male and female students. Male students showed significantly less changes in the number of meals, amount of meal intake, number of snacks, snack intake, frequency of overeating, and appetite during stress than female students. Life stress score of students largely came from academic factors, and female students showed higher stress levels in personal and surrounding environment factors than male students. Life stress score was significantly lower in students with high and moderate levels of dietary habits than in students with a low level of dietary habits. Total score for dietary habits and scores for eating adequate amounts of foods for each meal, considering a combination of food groups at each meal and eating green and orange vegetables, were significantly negatively correlated with life stress score. Life stress score was significantly negatively correlated with meal regularity and positively with the level of overeating. Conclusions: This study may provide basic information on dietary habits and life stress according to gender and the relationship between dietary behaviors and life stress of middle school students, and it suggests gender-based nutrition education programs to solve undesirable dietary habits and dietary behaviors in students with higher stress.

  • This study tested relationship between consumer's motivation for mobile shopping and their value of shopping, satisfaction, and repurchase intention. The result of the analysis deduced four factors in motivation for mobile shopping-: ubiquity, convenience, impulsiveness, and economic feasibility. The results indicated that motivation for mobile shopping and consumers' value of shopping have a significant influence on each other. Specifically, impulsiveness had a considerable influence on hedonic shopping value, whereas convenience had a significant influence on utilitarian shopping value. In addition, motivation for mobile shopping and value of shopping had a significant influence on consumer satisfaction and repurchase intention. To put it concretely, among the motives of mobile shopping, ubiquity is found to be the factor influencing consumer satisfaction and repurchase intention the most. Lastly, consumers' shopping value influences consumer satisfaction and revisiting intention significantly. This result provides useful base data for establishing distinctive marketing strategies in the rapidly growing mobile shopping market.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the changes in electroencephalogram (EEG) coherence and brain wave activity for first-person perspective action observation (1AO) and third-person perspective action observation (3AO) of healthy subjects. Methods: Thirty healthy subjects participated in this study. EEG was simultaneously recorded during the Relax period, the 1AO, and the 3AO, with event-related desynchronization (ERD) and coherence connectivity process calculations for brain wave (alpha, beta and mu) rhythms in relation to the baseline. Results: Participants showed increased coherence in beta wave activity in the frontal and central areas (p<0.05), during the 1AO using right-hand activity. Conversely, the coherence of the alpha wave decreased statistically significantly decreased in the frontocentral and parieto-occipital networks during the observation of the 1AO and the 3AO. The ERD values were larger than 40% for both central regions but were slightly higher for the C4 central region. The high relative power of the alpha wave during 1AO and 3AO was statistically significantly decreased in the frontal, central, parietal, and occipital regions. However, the relative power of the beta wave during 1AO and 3AO was statistically significantly increased in the parietal and occipital regions. Especially during 1AO, the relative power of the beta wave in the C3 area was statistically significantly increased (p<0.05). Conclusion: These findings suggest that 1AO and 3AO action observations are relevant to modifications of specific brain wave coherence and ERD values. EEG cortical activity during action observation may contribute to neural reorganization and to adaptive neuroplasticity in clinical intervention.

  • The Oriental flower arrangements have the beauty of a strict triangle in a symmetrical three-dimensional effect as the form of flower tribute to gods in ancient times and used frogs to fix flowers to a basin easily. Flower arrangements of a conical shape made by repeatedly piled flowers in ancient Egypt shows the origin of the present vertical form of the Western flower arrangements. Flower arrangements in ancient Greece formed in a smooth S shape, while Roman flower arrangements were rich and gorgeous in a lowering and thin shape horizontally. Persians were showing triangular forms similar to the Oriental three-dimensional effect. The basic form of flower arrangements in the age of Renaissance was also created upon the ancient one, descending to Art Nouveau when flower arrangements were widely expressed from mass to space aesthetics led by America in the 20th century influenced by mild color, simplicity and realistic description of the Oriental art in the late 19th century. The Western flower arrangements are focused on formation, same as the Oriental ones, yet they disregard naturality and based on practicality.
