유전자 재조합 균주에서 플라스미드의 안정성과 발효 공정의 최적화 (Plasmid Stabilitly of a Recombinant Escherichia coli and Optimization of Fermentation Processes)

  • 유전자 재조합 균주의 발효에 있어서 플라스미드의 안정성과 발효공정의 최적화에 대해 개략적으로 서술하였다. 클론된 DNA의 발현은 플라스미드의 안정성을 크게 저해하며, 저하된 플라스미드의 안정성은 재조합 균주의 생산성을 많이 떨어뜨린다. 최적 발효 조건은 각각의 숙주-벡터 시스템, 사용한 배지, 생성물 등에 따라 크게 변한다. 동일한 숙주-벡터 시스템의 경우도, 사용하는 배지에 따라 온도, 희석률 또는 성장속도에 의존하는 정도가 달라지고 또 최적값도 다 변한다. 또한 발효조건의 최적화가 균체 내 플라스미드의 자기복제,mRNA로의 전사, 단백질로의 translation, 더 나아가 미생물 전체의 생리와 밀접하게 관련이 있다.

  • A comprehensive coverage of corrosion in batteries is rendered difficult by the wide choice of materials, environments and physical features as obtained in practical settings. Understanding of the complex processes that occur in these electrochemical systems gets clearer as new theoretical approaches backed by sophisticated analytical and characterization techniques continue to provide valuable insights which aid in controlling/mitigating wasteful corrosion reactions which affect battery shelf-life, cycle life, rate capability and capacity. In the light of the above, I limit myself to a discussion on corrosion aspects in representative system such as conventional Leclanche, lead-acid battery and magnesium batteries, and advanced lithium systems.

  • Reduced life-cycle and scale of electronic products make the conventional automated manufacturing system difficult to keep on competitiveness in these days. Reduced life-cycle requires an agile adaptation of manufacturing to new products and reduced scale requires enhanced precision as well as high speed. In this research, We propose a new concept called as "One-Cell Minifactory" in which various processes are combined to produce final modules or products and human interaction can be combined easily. We hope the proposed concept can guide new developments of automated manufacturing in electronics, optics and bio-engineering.

  • Nature applied flavanoids, glucosinolates and peptides for a great variety of functions. Flavanoids and glucosinolates are rich source of antioxidants, generally present in colored fruits and vegetables. Quercetin and its glucosides areone of the best examples of flavonol used in daily diet. Whereas peptides can act as antimicrobial, chemical messenger, neurotransmitter etc that regulating various life processes. Aspartame, a dipeptide is used as artificial sweetener and oxytocin for medical purposes, gained importance in everyday life. So, flavanoids, glucosinolates, peptides and their derivatives continue to hold the attention of synthetic chemists, agriculturists and biologists. Apart from a variety of naturally occurring bioactive metabolites, we are aiming to extract, separate and synthesize new analogs of promising natural drug candidates.

성과 관련된 부모역할이 대학생의 성태도 및 성행동에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Parenting Processes on Sexual Attitudes and Sexual Behaviors among College Students)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of parenting processes(parental support, monitoring, communication about sexuality) on college students' sexual attitudes and sexual behaviors. For this purpose, a survey was conducted using self-administered questionnaires with 361 college students. The results showed that both sexual attitudes and sexual behaviors were different according to sex, age, and dating period. In addition, sexual attitudes of males were correlated with father's support, mother's support and monitoring of parenting processes. It also found that the direct sexual behaviors were correlated with mother's support. Finally, results of multiple regression analysis showed that sex, parents' support, monitoring and communication about sexuality influenced sexual attitudes. Sex and parents' support had indirect influence on sexual behaviors. Experience of dating and communication about sex had direct influence on sexual behavior.

  • In this study, we evaluate the eco-efficiency for recycling processes of Busan Resources Recycling Center for each year from 2010-2012. It analyze the impact of global warming on the power consumption by Life Cycle Assessment. Also calculate the economic value by net profit components those are sales amount and electric charge in accordance with the process operation. On the basis of these results, each of the eco-efficiency Factor analysis and dynamics analysis of 2011 and 2012 as the base year to 2010 are performed. As a result, the impact of global warming in all the recycling processes is increased by increasing power consumption 2010-2012. But net profit is decreased. In addition, the eco-efficiency of all the recycling processes is decreased and analysis result of the eco-efficiency trends is located on the Fully non Eco-efficiency (--) level. Therefore, all the recycling processes are necessary improvement for power consumption reducing and net profit increasing to further the environmental and economically sustainable direction.

  • The software development life cycle (SDLC) is a procedure used to develop a software system that meets both the customer's needs and real-world requirements. The first phase of the SDLC involves creating a conceptual model that represents the involved domain in reality. In requirements engineering, building such a model is considered a bridge to the design and construction phases. However, this type of model can also serve as a basic model for identifying business processes and how these processes are interconnected to achieve the final result. This paper focuses on process modeling in organizations, per se, beyond its application in the SDLC when an organization needs further documentation to meet its growth needs and address regular changes over time. The resultant process documentation is created alongside the daily operations of the business process. The model provides visualization and documentation of processes to assist in defining work patterns, avoiding redundancy, or even designing new processes. In this paper, a proposed diagrammatic representation models each process using one diagram comprising five actions and two types of relations to build three levels of depiction. These levels consist of a static description, events, and the behavior of the modeled process. The viability of a thinging machine is demonstrated by re-modeling some examples from the literature.

국내 리튬이온전지 재활용 산업현황 (Lithium Ion Battery Recycling Industry in South Korea)

  • 이 글은 현재 국내 리튬이온전지 상용 재활용 공정을 정리하고, 리튬이온전지 재활용 공정의 새로운 방향을 제시한다. 대표적인 리튬이온전지 재활용 업체인 (주)성일하이텍은 10년 이상 리튬이온전지 재활용 공정을 성공적으로 운영해 왔으며 최근 많은 재활용 업체 및 배터리 제조업체들이 새로운 재활용 공정을 제안하고 개발하고 있다. 새로운 재활용 공정에서는 리튬 가격의 급격한 상승으로 니켈과 코발트보다 먼저 리튬이 회수되고, 금속 황산염 용액을 최종 제품으로 배터리 제조업체에 공급하는 특징이 있다. 향후 대량으로 발생할 폐전지 처리를 위해 기존 공정이 개선될 필요가 있으며, 폐기된 자동차와 함께 유입되는 성분들과 리튬이온전지의 새로운 첨가제는 향후 리튬이온전지 재활용 공정에서 주요 공정효율 저감 요인이 될 수 있다.

Lysine demethylase 3a in craniofacial and neural development during Xenopus embryogenesis

  • Epigenetic modifier lysine demethylase 3a (Kdm3a) specifically demethylates mono- and di-methylated ninth lysine of histone 3 and belongs to the Jumonji domain-containing group of demethylases. Kdm3a serves roles during various biological and pathophysiological processes, including spermatogenesis and metabolism, determination of sex, androgen receptor-mediated transcription and embryonic carcinoma cell differentiation. In the present study, physiological functions of Kdm3a were evaluated during embryogenesis of Xenopus laevis. Spatiotemporal expression pattern indicated that kdm3a exhibited its expression from early embryonic stages until tadpole stage, however considerable increase of kdm3a expression was observed during the neurula stage of Xenopus development. Depleting kdm3a using kdm3a antisense morpholino oligonucleotides induced anomalies, including head deformities, small-sized eyes and abnormal pigmentation. Whole-mount in situ hybridization results demonstrated that kdm3a knockdown was associated with defects in neural crest migration. Further, quantitative polymerase chain reaction revealed abnormal expression of neural markers in kdm3a morphants. RNA sequencing of kdm3a morphants indicated that kdm3a was implicated in mesoderm formation, cell adhesion and metabolic processes of embryonic development. In conclusion, the results of the present study indicated that Kdm3a may serve a role in neural development during Xenopus embryogenesis and may be targeted for treatment of developmental disorders. Further investigation is required to elucidate the molecular mechanism underlying the regulation of neural development by Kdm3a.

생산공정 현장실사를 통한 수입 집성재로부터 규제해충 검출 원인 조사 (Investigation on The Cause of Interception of Regulated Pest from Imported Glue-laminated Boards Through In-situ Inspection of Their Manufacturing Processes)

  • 본 연구는 규제해충(이하 해충이라 칭함) 검출 건수 상위 3개국인 말레이시아, 인도네시아, 중국의 집성재 생산업체에 대한 현장실사를 통해 해충 검출 원인을 파악하여 검역 안전성 확보를 위한 적정 집성재 생산공정을 제시하고자 수행되었다. 현장실사 결과, 수입 집성재로부터 해충 검출은 생산공정상의 문제(층재의 천연건조 또는 미흡한 열기건조, 건조 층재의 부적절한 보관, 집성재의 불완전 포장)로 확인되었다. 특히 중국은 오동나무 층재를 전적으로 천연건조하는 점을 비롯하여 생산공정이 전반적으로 가장 불량하였다. 향후 수입 집성재의 검역 안전성을 확보하기 위해서는 수입업체 스스로 해외 생산업체에 층재에 기 서식하던 해충의 구제가 가능하면서 동시에 건조 층재나 완제품인 집성재에 대한 해충 가해를 예방할 수 있는 타당한 집성재 생산공정(층재의 적절한 열기건조, 집성접착 전까지 건조 층재의 밀봉 보관, 집성재의 밀봉 포장)의 적용을 요구하여 수입 집성재로부터 해충이 검출되지 않도록 해야 할 것이다.
