In contemporary education, a school library is considered and valued as a vital and integral component of a school's instructional program. Especially, school library materials should contribute to execution of school curriculums through wide provision of resources. The results of the study are as follows. 1. The term 'library materials' should be changed into 'library resources' with a broad meaning. And, the scope of school library materials should include printed materials, audio-visual materials, electronic materials, associated equipment and other library resources. 2. It is desirable that the minimal standards of total collection is 5 books and 3 AV for a student in elementary schools, 7 books and 5 AV for a student in middle schools, 10 books and 7 AV for a student in high schools. 3. Annual growth is 0.5 for a student in elementary schools, 1 for a student in middle schools and 1.5 copy for a student in high schools. And, the number of minimal serials is 20 titles in elementary schools, 30 titles in middle schools and 50 tides in high schools. 4. Besides, basic collection, with the advances of technology, the school library collection should include new formats and delivery systems such as CD, video discs, videotex, computer software, satellite transmission etc. 5. The recommendable annual ratio of withdrawl is 3 to 5% for update and functional materials.

This study investigates the operation status of Special Schools' School Library and suggests policy implications after comparing with the School Library. As a result of the study, compared with general schools by region and school establishment, special schools are lacking in collection, budget, reading seats and usage. The number of collections per student in special schools is 57.9, the number of loans is 10.8, while the number of general schools is 96.7 and 29.6. The budget is about 30% of general schools, more than 90% of general schools have more than 20 seats, while Special Schools are only 75 (42.9%). There is not one volume of use compared to the collection. There are 47 schools (26.8%) with specialized staff, and only 20 schools have librarian licenses. Therefore, in order to revitalize the school library of special schools, it is necessary to cooperate with related organizations with disabilities in the local community, to expand collections, to have professional librarians and to improve the facilities environment.

The purpose of this paper is to forecast the future of library education in Korea. Toward this purpose, first, the historical events of library education in the United States of America and in the United Kingdom are introduced along with the IFLA Standards for Library Schools and the Unesco's General Information Programme. Secondly, the theoretical foundations of library education are extracted from the events. Thirdly, the factors influencing library education as well as library developments are identified, and, finally, the prospects of library education are forecasted in the light of the various factors in the Korean society and the theoretical foundations. The prospects are forecasted as follows: 1. The education for information science will be incorporated in library education. 2. The number of courses related to library services and uses will be increased. 3. The students should be provided with enough hands-on experiences to be familiar with new information technology. 4. The cooperation between library schools and libraries will be reinforced. 5. The departments of library science will cooperate with other departments in the universities in order to utilize the expertise and facilities. 6. The education of graduate schools will be specialized to produce subject specialist librarians and the undergraduate education will produce public and school librarians. 7. Opportunities for continuing education will be provided more and librarians encouraged to participate in those activities. 8. Library association should actively be involved in library education as a provider of continuing education or as a liaison between library schools and libraries. 9. The courses of foundations including library history, library research and preservation of culture will never be neglected.

A coalition of information schools, called the iSchools Organization, was established to increase the visibility of library and information science and to cope with the new demands of the digital age. As of 2015, sixty-five schools from many different countries have joined the iSchools Organization. While some other schools are interested in adopting iSchools, there are still some issues that need to be considered before adopting the iSchool charter. This paper presents those issues from the perspectives of the 5C groups: curriculum, competencies, convergence, collaboration, and consensus. A survey was conducted to investigate some aspects of the 5Cs. This study identifies five iSchool-related issues - 5Cs. Providing perspectives in the areas of the 5Cs will be useful to establish stronger iSchools. These five Cs will resolve information problems that we are facing, prepare students or any organizations for the digital age, give students digital service skills, and train future data scientists. This paper represents practical guidelines to build a strong iSchool. With the success of iSchools, societies see us as more than the traditional librarian.

The library of elementary schools, which plays a role in the basic education to grow a responsible social member in an information society and to develop ability for collection, selection, summary, and utilization of various information, could be considered as new educational center. It should be changed to the establishment of informational education for preparing the information society in 21st century through the functional extension of the conventional library as reading and bookstand. Furthermore, it is necessary of trials that converts to the support system for interchange between establishment and student, for preparing educational system of teaching or studying, and for opening establishment to local communities in the future.

This paper traces the trends of librarianship and the changes in the education for librarianship during the 1950s through the 1990s. The purpose of tracing is to find out whether there were some relationships between library activities and education for librarianship, which are supposed to be closely linked and cannot be discussed separately. The historical development of the field and the changes of information technology and library education in the United States of America during the same period are described to show how library and information science field has changed and how American library schools, whose system of library education was introduced into this country, have adopted new technologies. The results of the research show that, even in part, there were such relationship between libraries and library education as libraries' interests in library automation and library schools' provision of library automation course. It was also found out that the Korean library schools tended to follow the curricula provided by their American counterparts. Based on the findings, some suggestions are provided.

This study reports the result of the survey on collection management from 154 school libraries in Korea. The questionnaire is consisted of three section: state of collection, state of book use, and collection management system. Results reveal that (1) elementary schools and middle schools have many books for each student compared to the KLA's School Library Standards; (2) the component ratio of literature books is the biggest in school library collections; (3) the ratio of library book use is overwhelmingly higher in elementary schools than middle schools and high schools; (4) 64.6 percent of library books in the sample are never used during 2013-2015; (5) 74 percent of libraries have its own collection management document; (6) Almost all schools compose its own committee for library management, the committee plays an important roles in the communication among school members, collection development and promotion.

This study adopted the descriptive survey research method. The population of this study comprised of the hearing impaired students in selected government secondary schools in Rivers state. The population of hearing impaired students in Rivers State is 257. A simple random sampling technique was used to select a sample size of 159. A self-developed instrument titled "Availability and Utilization of Library Information Resources Questionnaire (AULIRQ)" was utilized for data collection. 153 responses were collated, indicating a 96.2% response rate. The data collected was arranged and analyzed using frequency count, percentages, and mean and standard deviation. Finding reveals that information resources in the libraries understudied were inadequate and under-utilized. Also, it was established that among other barriers, under-funding is a major barrier to making information resources available for the physically challenged. It was recommended that schools offering special education for the hearing impaired should pace up in their developmental gap by providing such resources and ensure adequate funding by all stakeholders.

To investigate the impact of the school libraries use experiences on the academic library anxiety among the freshmen of academy, A university's freshmen who had used the academic library were sampled systematically and surveyed. Data collected from 445 freshmen were analyzed using the frequency analysis, correlation analysis, regression analysis through the independents; sex, locations of schools, manager of schools, use education, library use, library aided instruction and compared with the previous studies. Library anxiety was also differed according to the locations of schools, managers of schools, library use, use education, library aided instruction. Based on the results, some recommendations were suggested to reduce the library anxiety of freshmen in academic libraries.

The study investigated the Integration of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to the Library and Information Science Curriculum: The Practicum in Library Schools in Rivers State. Descriptive survey design was used with a population 374 comprising 21 LIS educators and 353 Four Hundred Level Library and Information Science Students from University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State University, Port Harcourt, and Ignatius Ajuru University of Education Port Harcourt. Census sampling technique was used to select the LIS educators and purposive sampling technique was used to the select the Four Hundred Level LIS students. Questionnaire and checklist were used for data collection. 90% and 97% responses were found valid for analysis for LIS Educators and LIS students respectively. The study was analyzed using mean rating, standard deviation and simple percentage. The study revealed that ICT courses were integrated into LIS curriculum in Library schools in Rivers State but LIS educators lacked the ICT skills to teach ICT practicum consequently, the students were not properly taught ICT practicum. However, students had positive perception of ICT practicum. Notwithstanding, lack of ICT skills, poor policy implementation, lack of state-of-the-art infrastructure and nonchalant attitudes of staff towards the adoption of ICT constituted the challenges faced in the implementation of ICT practicum. The study therefore, recommended that the management of library schools in Rivers State should implement ICT practicum by hiring competent staff maybe from computers science department to teach the practicum for the interim. Subsequently, recruitment of librarians should include strictly ICT compliant.
