Development of Cyber Training Content for Newly Employed Public Services Librarians (신임사서공무원을 위한 기본소양 사이버 연수용 콘텐츠 개발)

  • This study sets out to examine training courses for newly government-employed librarian for developing training contents to learn their basic knowledge, and suggests development model about training contents' planning, designing and making-process. In addition, in order to evaluate cyber training contents it devises self-evaluating tool, conducts a reviewing of questionnaire and measure by Delphi method. The final content made under the cyber contents development model proposes the six areas and 28th trials. Feasibility assessment for the purpose of evaluating educational contents, based on 17 questions to measure the factor analysis results, it yields, it yields 4 factors having more than .40 variance. Though differences in perception depending on factors did not show statistical significance, the difference in the adequacy of questions results significantly lower in some of them.

A Study on Teacher Librarian's Perception and Needs on Implement of High School Credit System (고교학점제 시행에 대한 사서교사의 인식과 요구에 대한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the perceptions, demands, operation problems of teacher librarians for the implementation of the high school credit system. 153 teacher librarians working in high schools participated in the online survey, and statistical analysis was conducted Teacher librarians had a high understanding of the high school credit system, and the demand for elective courses management was high. In particular, teacher librarians working at research schools had a higher understanding of the high school credit system and the operating foundation than those in general schools. Lack of awareness of the educational role of students and teachers toward teacher librarians was recognized as the biggest problem in the elective course management and there was no difference according to the background variables of the teacher librarian as gender, region, experience. On the basis of this result, it is suggested and discussed that developing high school credit system training program for teacher librarians, opening of elective courses related to reading, media, and information literacy skills and developing textbook, and instituting mandatory completion courses related to reading, media, and information literacy skills in pre-teacher training course.

Curriculum Development of Training Librarians for Subject Liaison Service (주제전담사서 양성을 위한 사서 재교육 프로그램의 개발에 관한 연구)

  • Among university librarians and academic community in Korea, there has been constant debate on the need for subject librarianship and the restructuring of educational programs. The debate has not resulted in substantive change so far. Recently, as several university libraries have begun to implement subject librarian service, there is a growing need to reeducate practicing librarians for such service. Recognizing that the liaison service model best fits the reality of academic libraries, this article proposes curriculum development goals and strategies, and specific course listings for the training of subject liaison librarians. We also suggest specific conditions requisite for such education programs fully develop in the future.

  • The purpose of this study is to strengthen librarian's capacity by developing curriculum and training system for fostering '(tentative name)Librarians Specialized in Reading Healing' as a field of professional librarians. For this purpose, curriculum and training system for fostering librarians specialized in reading healing are designed and presented through research methods including literature study, case study and 1, 2nd delphi survey. The final curriculum is composed of curriculum for 1st and 2nd grade licensed librarians specialized in reading healing and refresher training based on job description of librarians specialized in reading healing. The training system is based on the first and second level certification granted by completion of the course, thus is designed to meet requirements both for academic achievement and for career development in each grade.

A Study on the Acquisition of Subject Specialized Manpower and Institutionalization (주제전문인력 확보 및 제도화 방안에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, an investigation has been made on the status of the issuance of librarian qualification, the status of operating Subject specialized librarians at home and abroad, the status of professional manpower of the similar cultural facilities, and their recruitment method, based on which an attempt has been made to propose a way to nurture the Subject specialized librarians. First, I propose a method for training Subject specialized librarians through a regular curriculum and a retraining process, while suggest the ways to nurture the Subject specialized librarians from undergraduate and also nurture the existing librarians to become the Subject specialized librarians. Second, the basic qualification of the Subject specialized librarians must have a career of more than 3 years in a specific subject area with a master's degree or higher, and in order to have a subject area background, it is proposed that a bachelor's degree or a master's degree must absolutely be acquired in the corresponding subject area. Third, in order to improve the treatment of such Subject specialized librarians, the Subject specialized librarians in the administrative service group could be organized into a research librarian (or library and information science) series and types as a subordinate literary series under the researcher position. That is, it is proposed to differentiate the librarians and the Subject specialized librarians by reorganizing series and types of the Subject specialized librarians while maintaining the current librarian series.

A Study on Library and Information School's Practical Training Program: Focused on a Case of S Public Library (문헌정보학 분야 공공도서관 실습교육에 관한 연구 - S공공도서관 사례를 중심으로 -)

  • This study aimed to analyze the issues on practical training programs at public libraries and propose alternative strategies for them. This study discusses the theoretical bases of providing practical training programs with the recent change in curriculums of library and information studies. It also explores the current status of both practical training program courses offered by the departments of library and information science in Korea, and the operation of programs managed by 42 public libraries. This study categorizes the programs into three types, including basic task type, participatory type, and proactive type, and examines the characteristics of each type. Furthermore, it researches a case of the cooperative public library practice program, which S public library and C University jointly conduct, and analyzes students and librarians' needs who participated in the program. As a result, the study identifies all the parties' challenges and provide a gradual development strategies for the program.

An Analysis on Current Status of and Perception of Subject Specialized Services in Korean Special Libraries (전문도서관의 주제전문서비스 운영 현황과 사서의 인식 분석)

  • Recently, subject specialized service has been suggested as a solution to overcome a difficulty of library management and to meet the quickly changing needs of library users. Introduction of subject specialized service is raised to be introduced to special libraries and efficient management system is required. However, systematic study on the subject specialized service is very rare. This study investigates and analyzes how subject specialized service is operated in korean special libraries and how subject specialist librarians recognize them. In order to analyzes and investigate, 8 special libraries was selected to survey general management of subject specialized service, recruitment and training issues of subject specialist librarian, their duties and overall evaluation and problem of subject specialized service. Finally the study attempts to suggest development strategies in order to improve subject specialized service in special libraries.

  • This study aims to provide some rosie material for the libraries to improve its role for supporting the virtual university by recognizing the changing roles to have to support the distance education which is becoming a growing area in the coming new century due to the necessity of continuing renewal and the retaining of the information related workers. Through the study, a few conclusions were derived. (1) To support the virtual university, the library services should be directed toward the operation of the full access - philosophy and should reflect the information needs of the off-campus students. The librarians should be equipped with the ability to make use of networked resources and to provide the document delivery services together with the ability to develop the web-based user training programs. The department of library and Information Science should educate the future librarian for the purpose of supporting the virtual university. (2) A written and agreed guidelines should be established to specify the philosophy, management, facilities, resources and services to support the virtual university. And it is desirable that in the near future the department and a librarian responsible for the supporting the distance education should be established.

A Comparative Analysis Teachers' Certification and Recruitment Examination System in the Korea and U.S. (한국과 미국의 사서교사 임용 및 자격시험 비교.분석에 관한 연구)

  • The presence of teacher is very important and it could be the core of making success or failure of education. Thus, most countries have a training program and employment system school teachers for guarantees to school teachers' qualification and profession. Teacher qualifications can be obtained by law, teacher recruitment examination for school in Korea. The Praxis tests are taken by individuals entering the teaching profession as part of the certification process required by many states and professional licensing organizations in U.S. Korea teacher employment test consist of 3 groups(1st, 2nd, 3rd test), 1st test measure general and subject-specific Knowledge. The U.S. teacher certification test consist of 3 groups(Praxis I, II, III), Praxis II measure knowledge of specific subjects that K-12 educators will teach, as well as general and subject-specific teaching skills and knowledge. The purposes of this study is to review teachers' certification and recruitment system comparative analysis examination questions in the Korea and U.S. This will allow for suggestions in the Korean teacher librarian employment test system.
