The Fabrication of the 0.1$\mu\textrm{m}$ NMOSFET by E-beam Lithography (E-beam lithography를 이용한 0.1$\mu\textrm{m}$ NMOSFET 제작)

  • The NMOSFET with gate length of 0.1$\mu$m is fabricated by mix-and-match method. In this device, the electron beam lithography is used to form the gate layer, while other layers are formed by the stepper. The gate oxide is 7nm thick, and the device structure is normal LDD structure. The saturation Gm for gate length of 0.1$\mu$m is 246mS/mm. The subthreshold slope is 180mV/decade for 0.1$\mu$m gate length, but the slope is 80mV/decade for 0.3$\mu$m gate length.

A Case Study on the Using of Ryang, a Word of Wooden Structure in Joseon Dynasty (조선시대 목조가구 용어 량의 사용 사례 연구)

  • This thesis mainly deals with how 'count of Ryang' was used in Joseon dynasty. Count of Ryang means how many purlins were used in the building with longitudinal section. As a result, the notion of Ryang in Joseon dynasty does not differ from now one. But the usages of that are slightly different to the present day. In Joseon dynasty, count of Ryang mainly was appeared with another word, count of Kan. Count of Kan has two meanings. One is the length, and the other is the area of building. When they used the count of Ryang combined with Kan, count of Kan had the meaning of length. By doing that, count of Ryang indicates the size of flank, count of Kan indicates the length of front. In the 19th century, count of Ryang looks similar to the past, but count of Kan shows another aspect. It did not indicate the length but the area of building. Through this study, although the usages of Ryang were different to the present, the concepts of Ryang were similar in Joseon dynasty.

  • Using first-principles density-functional theory calculations, we find dramatically different electronic states in the C chains generated on the H-terminated C(111) surface, depending on their length and parity. The infinitely long chain has $\pi$ electrons completely delocalized over the chain, yielding an equal C-C bond length. As the chain length becomes finite, such delocalized $\pi$ electrons are transformed into localized ones. As a result, even-numbered chains exhibit a strong charge-lattice coupling, leading to a bond-alternated structure, while odd-numbered chains show a ferrimagnetic spin ordering with a solitonlike structure. These geometric and electronic features of infinitely and finitely long chains are analogous to those of the closed (benzene) and open (polyacetylene) chains of hydrocarbons, respectively.

  • In this paper, The author designed on high speed VLD(Variable Length Decoder) using shift buffer. Variable Length Decoder is received N bit data from input block and decode the input signal using Shifting Buffer, Length Decoder and Symbol Decoder blocks. The inner part of shifting buffer in proposed Variable Length Decoder is filled input data and then operating therefore, the proposed structure can improve the decoded speed. And in this paper we applying pipeline structure therefore data is decoded in every clock.

Yarn Hairiness Affecting Fluff Generation

  • Fluff (lint, fiber fly) generation, especially related to yarn structure, was investigated. Research centered on the fiber length related to fluff generation during the knitting process. Short fiber length composing yarn structure was a main source of the fluff shedding. High quality spun yarn with longer length of fiber was recommended to the high speed knitting industry in order to reduce process troubles such as yarn breakage, etc. but the cost is doubtable to the manufacturers. A trial to reduce the fluff trouble by using chemicals to hold the short fiber on the surface of the yam was suggested and the research showed a positive effect to the problem. However, another factors including a by-product of chemical residue and searching more feasible material need to be concerned for the future research.

  • It has been widely discussed in phonology that syllable structure of mother tongue influences one's acquisition of foreign language. However, the topic was hardly examined experimentally. So, we investigated effects of Korean syllable structure when Korean speakers pronounce English words, especially focusing on consonant strings that are not allowed in Korean. In the experiment, all the subjects are divided into 3 groups, that is, native, experienced, and inexperienced speakers. Native group consists of 1 male English native speaker. Experienced and inexperienced are each composed of 3 male Korean speakers. These 2 groups are divided by the length of residence in the country using English as a native language. 41 mono-syllable words are prepared considering the position (onset vs. coda), characteristic (stops, affricates, fricatives), and number of consonant. Then, the length of the consonant cluster is measured. To eliminate tempo effect, the measured length is normalized using the length of the word 'say' in the carrier sentence. Measurement of consonant cluster is the relative time period between the initiation of energy (onset I coda) which is acoustically representative of noise (consonant portion) and voicing. bar (vowel portion) in a syllable. Statistical method is used to estimate the differences among 3 groups. For each word, analysis of variance (ANDY A) and Post Hoc tests are carried out.

Parametric Analysis on Construction Conditions to Control Thermal Cracks in Subway Concrete Structure (지하철 구조물의 온도균열제어를 위한 시공조건별 해석적 영향 분석)

  • The wall in a subway structure is easily subject to crack occurrence since its expansion and shrinkage associated with hydration heat reaction is constrained by the slab. The greater problem is that the crack in the wall may be developed to pass through thickness and eventually deteriorate the structure due to rusting of reinforced steel. Thus, this study aims at controlling thermal cracks as much as possible and determining an optimized size of concrete placement through hydration heat analysis. For this study, effects of placement height, length, temperature and types of cement on the thermal cracks were evaluated by temperature rise, thermal stress and crack index. As results of parametric study, it was found that placement height and length do not have an effect on the temperature rise but have significant one on thermal stress which relates to direct possibility of thermal crack occurrence. This means that proper selection of size balancing internal constraint with external one is much more important than reducing the placement height and length simply. In order to prevent from thermal cracks most effectively, in addition, it was noted to reduce placement temperature and to use the cement blended with mineral admixture.

Population Genetic Structure of Carassius auratus (Pisces: Cypriniformes) in South Korea Inferred from AFLP Markers: Discordance with Mitochondrial Genetic Structure

  • A recent study on the mitochondrial genetic variation of the Carassius auratus population in South Korea suggested that there are 3 distinct mitochondrial lineages in the country, and that they are geographically separated between westward rivers and southward rivers, respectively. In this study, the population genetic structure of amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP) of Carassius auratus was investigated. The results of analysis of molecular variance (AMOVA) supported the geographic distinction between westward and southward river populations, but only 3.66% of total genetic variance lies among these populations. The panmicticity of the AFLP genetic variation is backed up by the results of the neighbor-joining dendrogram drawn from a linearized pairwise $F_{ST}$ matrix and Bayesian clustering analysis. The discordance of genetic structure between mitochondrial and AFLP genetic variation may come from difference in effective population size between these markers and/or gene flow between westward and southward river populations through river capture events.

  • Sandwich structure is widely used in various fields of industry due to its excellent strength and stiffness compared with weight. We studied the sandwich structure which has honeycomb core type. We are concerned about its buckling and bending stress with respect to its side length, thickness and the height ratio of its unit core. After obtaining the buckling critical load of unit core, we applied it to the sandwich structure to observe the bending behavior. When we compared the buckling with bending stress under buckling critical load, we observed that models of which length ratio of unit honeycomb core, A, is lower than 0.04 and the thickness of core, t, is thicker than 0.09 mm, is subjected to the ultimate stress by bending before buckling.

  • FBG sensor system is applied to the concrete lining structure in Taegu subway. Near the structure, the power cable tunnel construction started. We wanted to measure the deformation of the structure due to the construction by the FBG sensor. The applied sensor has the gauge length of 1 meter to overcome the inhomogeneity of the concrete material with enough length. In order to fix tightly to the structure, the partially stripped parts of the sensor glued to the package and slip phenomenon between fiber and acrylate jacket was prevented. Prestrain of the sensor was imposed by controlling the two fixed points with bolts and nuts in order to measure compressive strain as well as tensile strain. The behavior of subway lining structure could be monitored very well.
