A Study on How to Set up a Standard Framework for AI Ethics and Regulation (AI 윤리와 규제에 관한 표준 프레임워크 설정 방안 연구)

  • With the aim of an intelligent world in the age of individual customization through decentralization of information and technology, sharing/opening, and connection, we often see a tendency to cross expectations and concerns in the technological discourse and interest in artificial intelligence more than ever. Recently, it is easy to find claims by futurists that AI singularity will appear before and after 2045. Now, as part of preparations to create a paradigm of coexistence that coexists and prosper with AI in the coming age of artificial intelligence, a standard framework for setting up more correct AI ethics and regulations is required. This is because excluding the risk of omission of setting major guidelines and methods for evaluating reasonable and more reasonable guideline items and evaluation standards are increasingly becoming major research issues. In order to solve these research problems and at the same time to develop continuous experiences and learning effects on AI ethics and regulation setting, we collect guideline data on AI ethics and regulation of international organizations / countries / companies, and research and suggest ways to set up a standard framework (SF: Standard Framework) through a setting research model and text mining exploratory analysis. The results of this study can be contributed as basic prior research data for more advanced AI ethics and regulatory guidelines item setting and evaluation methods in the future.

A decision-centric impact assessment of operational performance of the Yongdam Dam, South Korea (용담댐 기존운영에 대한 의사결정중심 기후변화 영향 평가)

  • Amidst the global climate crisis, dam operation policies formulated under the stationary climate assumption could lead to unsatisfactory water management. In this work, we assessed status-quo performance of the Yongdam Dam in Korea under various climatic stresses in flood risk reduction and water supply reliability for 2021-2040. To this end, we employed a decision-centric framework equipped with a stochastic weather generator, a conceptual streamflow model, and a machine-learning reservoir operation rule. By imposing 294 climate perturbations to dam release simulations, we found that the current operation rule of the Yongdam dam could redundantly secure water storage, while inefficiently enhancing the supply reliability. On the other hand, flood risks were likely to increase substantially due to rising mean and variability of daily precipitation. Here, we argue that the current operation rules of the Yongdam Dam seem to be overly focused on securing water storage, and thus need to be adjusted to efficiently improve supply reliability and reduce flood risks in downstream areas.

A Study on the Prediction of Strawberry Production in Machine Learning Infrastructure (머신러닝 기반 시설재배 딸기 생산량 예측 연구)

  • Recently, agricultural sites are automating into digital agricultural smart farms by applying technologies such as big data and Internet of Things (IoT). These smart farms aim to increase production and improve crop quality by measuring the environment of crops, investigating and processing data. Production prediction is an important study in smart farm digital agriculture, which is a high-tech agriculture, and it is necessary to analyze environmental data using big data and further standardized research to manage the quality of growth information data. In this paper, environmental and production data collected from smart farm strawberry farms were analyzed and studied. Based on regression analysis, crop production prediction models were analyzed using Ridge Regression, LightGBM, and XGBoost. Among the three models, the optimal model was XGBoost, and R2 showed 82.5 percent explanatory power. As a result of the study, the correlation between the amount of positive fluid absorption and environmental data was confirmed, and significant results were obtained for the production prediction study. In the future, it is expected to contribute to the prevention of environmental pollution and reduction of sheep through the management of sheep by studying the amount of sheep absorption, such as information on the growing environment of crops and the ingredients of sheep.

  • Cities are becoming more complex due to rapid industrialization and population growth in modern times. In particular, urban areas are rapidly changing due to housing site development, reconstruction, and demolition. Thus accurate road information is necessary for various purposes, such as High Definition Map for autonomous car driving. In the case of the Republic of Korea, accurate spatial information can be generated by making a map through the existing map production process. However, targeting a large area is limited due to time and money. Road, one of the map elements, is a hub and essential means of transportation that provides many different resources for human civilization. Therefore, it is essential to update road information accurately and quickly. This study uses Semantic Segmentation algorithms Such as LinkNet, D-LinkNet, and NL-LinkNet to extract roads from drone images and then apply hyperparameter optimization to models with the highest performance. As a result, the LinkNet model using pre-trained ResNet-34 as the encoder achieved 85.125 mIoU. Subsequent studies should focus on comparing the results of this study with those of studies using state-of-the-art object detection algorithms or semi-supervised learning-based Semantic Segmentation techniques. The results of this study can be applied to improve the speed of the existing map update process.

Detection of Urban Trees Using YOLOv5 from Aerial Images (항공영상으로부터 YOLOv5를 이용한 도심수목 탐지)

  • Urban population concentration and indiscriminate development are causing various environmental problems such as air pollution and heat island phenomena, and causing human resources to deteriorate the damage caused by natural disasters. Urban trees have been proposed as a solution to these urban problems, and actually play an important role, such as providing environmental improvement functions. Accordingly, quantitative measurement and analysis of individual trees in urban trees are required to understand the effect of trees on the urban environment. However, the complexity and diversity of urban trees have a problem of lowering the accuracy of single tree detection. Therefore, we conducted a study to effectively detect trees in Dongjak-gu using high-resolution aerial images that enable effective detection of tree objects and You Only Look Once Version 5 (YOLOv5), which showed excellent performance in object detection. Labeling guidelines for the construction of tree AI learning datasets were generated, and box annotation was performed on Dongjak-gu trees based on this. We tested various scale YOLOv5 models from the constructed dataset and adopted the optimal model to perform more efficient urban tree detection, resulting in significant results of mean Average Precision (mAP) 0.663.

Design and Implementation of BNN based Human Identification and Motion Classification System Using CW Radar (연속파 레이다를 활용한 이진 신경망 기반 사람 식별 및 동작 분류 시스템 설계 및 구현)

  • Continuous wave (CW) radar has the advantage of reliability and accuracy compared to other sensors such as camera and lidar. In addition, binarized neural network (BNN) has a characteristic that dramatically reduces memory usage and complexity compared to other deep learning networks. Therefore, this paper proposes binarized neural network based human identification and motion classification system using CW radar. After receiving a signal from CW radar, a spectrogram is generated through a short-time Fourier transform (STFT). Based on this spectrogram, we propose an algorithm that detects whether a person approaches a radar. Also, we designed an optimized BNN model that can support the accuracy of 90.0% for human identification and 98.3% for motion classification. In order to accelerate BNN operation, we designed BNN hardware accelerator on field programmable gate array (FPGA). The accelerator was implemented with 1,030 logics, 836 registers, and 334.904 Kbit block memory, and it was confirmed that the real-time operation was possible with a total calculation time of 6 ms from inference to transferring result.

A Study on the Automatic Digital DB of Boring Log Using AI (AI를 활용한 시추주상도 자동 디지털 DB화 방안에 관한 연구)

  • The process of constructing the DB in the current geotechnical information DB system needs a lot of human and time resource consumption. In addition, it causes accuracy problems frequently because the current input method is a person viewing the PDF and directly inputting the results. Therefore, this study proposes building an automatic digital DB using AI (artificial intelligence) of boring logs. In order to automatically construct DB for various boring log formats without exception, the boring log forms were classified using the deep learning model ResNet 34 for a total of 6 boring log forms. As a result, the overall accuracy was 99.7, and the ROC_AUC score was 1.0, which separated the boring log forms with very high performance. After that, the text in the PDF is automatically read using the robotic processing automation technique fine-tuned for each form. Furthermore, the general information, strata information, and standard penetration test information were extracted, separated, and saved in the same format provided by the geotechnical information DB system. Finally, the information in the boring log was automatically converted into a DB at a speed of 140 pages per second.

Analysis of PBL for Korean Apprenticeship Program in Mechanical Engineering (기계분야 일학습병행제에서의 PBL 실태 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to analysis of PBL for Korean Apprenticeship Program in Mechanical Engineering. The details of the study were as follows: First, the perception related to the PBL of Korean apprenticeship program was investigated. Second, the utilization and the operational difficulties of PBL for Korean Apprenticeship Program were investigated. Third, the supporting system for PBL was suggested. Research methods were literature research, questionnaire survey and FGI. The survey was conducted online from July 15 to August 14, 2021. A total of 515 respondents responded. A total of 108 in 515 respondents were in Mechanical Engineering. FGI conducted a total of 25 people who actual use PBL in the field of Korean Apprenticeship Program. Conclusions and suggestions based upon the result of this study are as follows. First, It is necessary to improve the utilization of PBL for Korean Apprenticeship Program in Industry. Second, PBL is necessary to apply optionally according to the job and field situation. Third, it is necessary to support system of evaluation for PBL in Korean Apprenticeship Program. Finally, related operation model and guideline need to be prepared for best practice.

A Longitudinal Analysis of the Influence of Teachers' Achievement Pressure and Enthusiasm Perceived by Students on Academic Achievement in Mathematics: For Elementary and Middle School Students (학생들이 인지하는 교사의 성취압력과 열의가 수학 학업성취도에 미치는 영향력에 대한 종단적 분석: 초·중학생들을 대상으로)

  • Achievement pressure and enthusiasm affecting mathematics academic achievement are constantly changing and affecting academic achievement. Therefore, a longitudinal study is needed to examine the influence of the change patterns of teachers' achievement pressure and enthusiasm on the change patterns of academic achievement. This study utilized student data from the 5th grade of elementary school (2013 year) to the third grade of middle school (2017 year) of the Korean Education Longitudinal Study 2013. The longitudinal change patterns of mathematics academic achievement were classified into similar subgroups and the influence of the longitudinal change patterns of the achievement pressure and enthusiasm of each group on the longitudinal change pattern of mathematics academic achievement and the path were compared and analyzed. As a result of the analysis, in all four subgroups with similar longitudinal changes in mathematics academic achievement, the teacher's achievement pressure showed little change from the fifth grade, while the teacher's enthusiasm continued to decline from the fifth grade. In addition, the influence of teachers' achievement pressure and enthusiasm perceived by students in each group on mathematics academic achievement was different. This suggests that in order to improve mathematics academic achievement, it is necessary to support teaching and learning reflecting the characteristics and dispositions of students.

A Design of the Vehicle Crisis Detection System(VCDS) based on vehicle internal and external data and deep learning (차량 내·외부 데이터 및 딥러닝 기반 차량 위기 감지 시스템 설계)

  • Currently, autonomous vehicle markets are commercializing a third-level autonomous vehicle, but there is a possibility that an accident may occur even during fully autonomous driving due to stability issues. In fact, autonomous vehicles have recorded 81 accidents. This is because, unlike level 3, autonomous vehicles after level 4 have to judge and respond to emergency situations by themselves. Therefore, this paper proposes a vehicle crisis detection system(VCDS) that collects and stores information outside the vehicle through CNN, and uses the stored information and vehicle sensor data to output the crisis situation of the vehicle as a number between 0 and 1. The VCDS consists of two modules. The vehicle external situation collection module collects surrounding vehicle and pedestrian data using a CNN-based neural network model. The vehicle crisis situation determination module detects a crisis situation in the vehicle by using the output of the vehicle external situation collection module and the vehicle internal sensor data. As a result of the experiment, the average operation time of VESCM was 55ms, R-CNN was 74ms, and CNN was 101ms. In particular, R-CNN shows similar computation time to VESCM when the number of pedestrians is small, but it takes more computation time than VESCM as the number of pedestrians increases. On average, VESCM had 25.68% faster computation time than R-CNN and 45.54% faster than CNN, and the accuracy of all three models did not decrease below 80% and showed high accuracy.
