As an alternative of making students active and independent under the passive learning conditions in school math classes, many researchers have paid much attention to problem posing and done a lot of research on it. Above all, Brown and Walter proposed What I f Not strategy as a means of problem posing. In this strategy, during the process of posing problems, the transformation of their attributes is inevitably made, and so after problem posing, the process is finished by explaining the problem. But only the simple transformation of attributes could pose wrong problems. It suggests that it is very important to recognize the relationship which leads to organic connection between attributes in order to pose the right problem. However, many other studies of problem posing haven't focused on this fact. Thus, this study tried to design a model of problem posing to help recognize inherent knowledge in the problem and then pose the right problem by adding an activity of meaning analysis. We concretely showed a model of problem posing emphasizing the analysis of meaning by means of an example, thereby examining the meaning of the model. This study expects students to have the chance to understand the true meaning of problem posing and to be active learners after all.
This paper is a study on the perception of current competency and expected competency of engineering freshmen by extracting core competencies acquired from university education. It also aims to suggest proper way for engineering university education. This study extracts competencies in the following five areas as core competencies: 'knowledge on major area', 'cultural ability', 'foreign language ability', 'basic learning ability', 'intercommunication ability'. To achieve this purpose, this study surveyed 'C' university engineering department freshmen (584 students) with questionnaires about their perception of core competencies. The results are as follows. First, engineering freshmen perceived current competencies were weak in every area, especially their capacities in 'foreign language ability' area were perceived to be weakest. Their demand for education is the highest in 'foreign language ability' area, and the second higher in 'knowledge on major area'. Secondly, there exists meaningful difference between perception of current competency and expected competency depending on the gender, high school department (science/liberal arts), high school location, types of college admissions, and types of mathematics in NAST. According to these results, this study suggests enhancement of foreign language (English) education in engineering department, design and implementation of various educational program to overcome individual difference, promoting importance of competencies in the 'cultural abilty' and 'intercommunication abilty', necessity of continuous adjustment and complementation for engineering educational program through accumulation of feedback processes, activation of career education through engineering education and special programs.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the content and design of the seven math camp programs for students of the education centers for the elementary gifted students. The analysis focused on the goals, content, and evaluations utilized in the math camp programs. The results of the study were as follows. First, there was no big difference between the goals set for each camp, and they mainly focused on the goals in affective domain. Second, the content of math camp programs was focused on enrichment rather than acceleration. Most of the programs were focused on geometry, whereas fewer programs were focused on measurement, probability and statistics. Based on the Analysis, we found that only nine out of 27 programs applied level-wised or individual exercise programs. Third, all centers for the mathematically gifted carried out evaluations of their math camp programs. However, a specific evaluation plan was not established for the math camp program plans. We suggested the direction of math camp programs as follows. First, the goals should reflect on the intended outcomes of the math camp programs. Also, the goals of math camp programs need to be distinctive from general education goals. Second, the programs should contain harmonious contents with enrichment and acceleration and must include various reactions and task commitment. The math camp programs need to include references and an appropriate information for the gifted students to encourage self-directed learning. Third, a more specific evaluation plan for math camp programs needs to be developed for effective education for the gifted students.
Mobile environments rapidly changing and digital convergence widely employed, mobile devices including smart phones have been playing a critical role that changes users' lifestyle in the areas of entertainments, businesses and information services. The various services using mobile devices are developing to meet the personal needs of users in the mobile environments. Especially, an LBS (Location-Based Service) is combined with other services and contents such as augmented reality, mobile SNS (Social Network Service), games, and searching, which can provide convenient and useful services to mobile users. In this paper, we design and implement the prototype of mobile personal assistant (PA) agents. Our personal assistant agent helps users do some tasks by hiding the complexity of difficult tasks, performing tasks on behalf of the users, and reflecting the preferences of users. To identify user's preferences and provide personalized services, clustering and classification algorithms of data mining are applied. The clusters of the log data using clustering algorithms are made by measuring the dissimilarity between two objects based on usage patterns. The classification algorithms produce user profiles within each cluster, which make it possible for PA agents to provide users with personalized services and contents. In the experiment, we measured the classification accuracy of user model clustered using clustering algorithms. It turned out that the classification accuracy using our method was increased by 17.42%, compared with that using other clustering algorithms.

This research purports to find out the characteristics of Korean students cognitive attributes and compare it with that of high-achieving countries who took TIMSS 2011 based on the Cognitive Diagnostic Theory. Based on TIMSS 2011 Science framework, nine cognitive attributes were extracted and the researcher analyzed that 216 of the TIMSS 2011 science items require these attributes. This analysis was conducted to come up with a Q-matrix. After producing the Q-matrix, multi-level IRT was used to figure out each countries' characteristics for each of the cognitive attribute. According to the study results, four attributes, such as 'Use Models,' 'Interpret Information,' 'Draw Conclusions,' and 'Evaluate and justify' were easier attributes for Korean middle school students. However, the other five attributes such as 'Recall/Recognize', 'Explain', 'Classify', 'Integrate', 'Hypothesize and Design' were considered as harder attributes compared to other countries. Korean students also considered 'Interpret Information' as the easiest attributes, and 'Explain' as the hardest attributes of all. For Korean students, those attributes considered to be easy were the easiest and hard attributes as the hardest compared to other countries, showing very extreme cases. Therefore, to give students more meaningful learning experience, it is better to use all the attributes altogether rather than use specific attributes while constructing Science curriculum or textbooks.

Enhancing performance of big data analytics in distributed environment has been issued because most of the big data related applications such as machine learning techniques and streaming services generally utilize distributed computing frameworks. Thus, optimizing performance of those applications at Spark has been actively researched. Since optimizing performance of the applications at distributed environment is challenging because it not only needs optimizing the applications themselves but also requires tuning of the distributed system configuration parameters. Although prior researches made a huge effort to improve execution performance, most of them only focused on one of three performance optimization aspect: application design, system tuning, hardware utilization. Thus, they couldn't handle an orchestration of those aspects. In this paper, we deeply analyze and model the application processing procedure of the Spark. Through the analyzed results, we propose performance optimization schemes for each step of the procedure: inner stage and outer stage. We also propose appropriate partitioning mechanism by analyzing relationship between partitioning parallelism and performance of the applications. We applied those three performance optimization schemes to WordCount, Pagerank, and Kmeans which are basic big data analytics and found nearly 50% performance improvement when all of those schemes are applied.
Purpose - As the members of the baby boomer generation have retired in earnest, the start-up market has received more attention than ever before. According to recent statistical data, an increasing number of entrepreneurs are in their fifties. There has been a continuous increase in promotional materials on small business issues published by start-ups. This means that senior start-ups have increased in number. A number of support systems have been established for youth start-ups, but there are few government support policies in place for the senior start-up market. Thus, this study suggests a number of constructive alternatives from the perspective of government policy and marketing strategy for entrepreneurs, in order to generate competitiveness in the start-up process, through examining the current state of the senior start-up and by diagnosing extant problems. Research design, data, methodology - This study gives a number of options regarding the government's support policies and the securing of competitiveness in order to vitalize senior business start-ups. As for the government's support policies, funding support policy, publicizing business start-up policies, and operating systematic mentoring policies before retirement have all been covered. In particular, in order for senior business start-ups to become competitive, development through mutual relations with diverse policies is urgently needed. The aging population is becoming an issue in Korea, so businesses for the aged, and the creation of jobs for these people, will become a social issue. Senior business start-ups are playing an important role in expanding enterprise productivity, in addition to enhancing national competitiveness. Expanding senior business start-ups is important, because they also serve to expand the national infrastructure. Productivity increase through continuous expansion is thus recommended. Results - In order to expand the competitiveness of business start-ups, marketing-related observations and learning in regard to customers are necessary for the baby boomer generation, and competitiveness for seniors is urgently needed. Conclusions - Studies on the business start-up policies for the domestic baby boomer generation are almost non-existent, and systematic studies on small businesses are necessary. Only the government is providing statistical studies for small businesses, and such research remains at a general level for entrepreneurs. Therefore, a support system that can actually assist entrepreneurs is essential. Continuous business start-up studies with respect to the baby boomers should be vitalized, to invigorate studies on competition. In order to supplement and strengthen foundational support, senior business start-ups must develop various competitive capabilities with a focus on the customer. The government and the various stakeholder agencies and organizations involved with start-up businesses must find ways to offer support to founders. Such support should include access to knowledge and legal and consultancy services in order to incubate the rapid increase in start-ups founded by seniors. Government support projects should be expanded to meet this end.
This study examined the effect of Health Education on the aged. One of the Study objectives was to improve knowledge. attitude and self-care practice about diabetes of the aged who have responded positive in the urine sugar test. The other study objective was to find out factors influencing knowledge. attitude and self-care practice about diabetes. and the relationship among the three variables. The subjects, consisting of 45 positive responders in the urine sugar test, were selected from the elderly who attend elderly citizen center in southern part of Seoul Then they were divided into an experimental and a control group. The study design was set to compare the pre and post test data between the experimental and the control group with the measures of results from Health Education services including nursing care intervention programs on the aged diabetics. The first data collection was carried out in August. 1986 through questionaires and urine sugar testing. The second data collection was done in September, 1987 through the same methods. The results of the study are summarized as follows; 1. General characteristics of the subjects The experimental group has 9 females and 14 males and the control group has 12 females and 10 males. As for the educational level, more than half of the subjects in both group had completed at least 6 years of education. And there was no significant difference in urine sugar levels between the two groups. 2. The effect of Health Education on the extent of change in knowledge, attitude and self-care practice about diabetes was found to be significant. The first hypothesis that knowledge, attitude and self-care practice about diabetes in the aged will be unchanged by Health Education. was rejected by increased the three variables and decreased urine suger level in the experimental group. The second hypothesis that knowledge, attitude and self-care practice about diabetes wouldn't be concerned with each other, was rejected. That is. the three variables and urine sugar levels showed a significant positive relationship with each other but diabetic knowledge to urine sugar level had an insignificant positive relationship. The third hypothesis that the amount of learning Health Education will have no relationships with knowledge. attitude and self-care practice about diabetes. was rejected. That is, the more number of times an elderly person participated in Health Education. they increased their diabetic knowledge. attitude and self-care practice and decreased their urine sugar level. 3. Except for Health Education, an other factor influencing diabetic knowledge was educational level. And an other factor influencing the diabetic attitude was experience of the diagnosis of diabetes. 4. Except for Health Education. the other factors influencing self-care practice were experience of the diagnasis of diabetes, sex and experience of the hospitalization for diabetes. But factors influencing urine sugar level weren't found. Although the results seem to be plausible, this study is not without its problems. In paticular, the sample used is limited in its scope and size. So, more empirical work needs to be done for other diseases as well as diabetes before any general conclusions are to be made.

본 논문에서는 BP(Back Propagation)에 비해서 빠른 학습시간과 다른 경쟁학습 신경회로망 알고리즘에 비해서 비교적 우수한 성능으로 패턴인식 등에 많이 이용되고 있는 LVQ(Learning Vector Quantization) 알고리즘의 성능을 향상시키기 위한 방법을 논의하고자 한다. 일반적으로 LVQ는 음(negative)의 학습을 하기 때문에 초기 가중치가 제대로 설정되지 않으면 발산할 수 있다는 단점이 있으며, 경쟁학습 계열의 신경망이기 때문에 출력 층의 뉴런 수에 따라 성능에 큰 영향을 받는다고 알려져 있다.[1]. 지도학습 형태를 지닌 LVQ의 경우에 학습패턴이 n개의 클래스를 가지고, 각 클래스 별로 학습패턴의 수가 같은 경우에 일반적으로 전체 출력뉴런에 대해서 (출력뉴런수/n)개의 뉴런을 각 클래스의 목표(desired) 클러스터로 할당하여 학습을 수행하는데, 본 논문에서는 각 클래스에 동일한 수의 출력뉴런을 할당하지 않고, 학습데이터에서 각 클래스의 분산을 추정하여 각 클래스의 분산을 추정분산에 비례하게 목표 출력뉴런을 할당하고, 초기 가중치도 추정분산에 비례하게 각 클래스의 초기 임의 위치 입력백터를 사용하여 학습을 수행하는 방법을 제안한다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 방법은 분류하고자 하는 데이터에 대해서 필요한 최적의 출력뉴런 수를 찾는 것이 아니라 이미 결정되어 있는 출력뉴런 수에 대해서 각 클래스에 할당할 출력 뉴런 수를 데이터의 추정분산에 의해서 결정하는 것으로, 추정분산이 크면 상대적으로 많은 출력 뉴런을 할당하고 작으면 상대적으로 적은 출력뉴런을 할당하고 초기 가중치도 마찬가지 방법으로 결정하며, 이렇게 하면 정해진 출력뉴런 개수 안에서 각 클래스 별로 분류의 어려움에 따라서 출력뉴런을 할당하기 때문에 미학습 뉴런이 줄어들게 되어 성능의 향상을 기대할 수 있으며, 실험적으로 제안된 방법이 더 나은 성능을 보임을 확인했다.initially they expected a more practical program about planting than programs that teach community design. In this study, Polynomial Network Pattern Classifier(PNC) based on Fuzzy Inference Mechanism is designed and its parameters such as learning rate, momentum coefficient and fuzzification coefficient are optimized by means of Particle Swarm Optimization. The proposed PNC employes a partition function created by Fuzzy C-means(FCM) clustering as an activation function in hidden layer and polynomials weights between hidden layer and output layer. Using polynomials weights can help to improve the characteristic of the linear classification of basic neural networks classifier. In the viewpoint of linguistic analysis, the proposed classifier is expressed as a collection of "If-then" fuzzy rules. Namely, architecture of networks is constructed by three functional modules that are condition part, conclusion part and inference part. The condition part relates to the partition function of input space using FCM clustering. In the conclusion part, a polynomial function caries out the presentation of a partitioned local space. Lastly, the output of networks is gotten by fuzzy inference in the inference part. The proposed PNC generates a nonlinear discernment function in the output space and has the better performance of pattern classification as a classifier, because of the characteristic of polynomial based fuzzy inference of PNC.
