Analysis of Question Patterns Appearing in Teaching Demonstrations Which Applied Science Teachings Model Prepared by a Pre-service Biology Teacher (생물 예비교사의 과학수업모형을 적용한 수업 시연에 나타난 질문 유형 분석)

  • This study aimed at finding points of improvement in teaching expertise by analyzing the question patterns that appeared during teaching demonstrations which applied science teaching models prepared by a pre-service biology teacher. The question analysis frame for analyzing question types were categorized largely into the question types of Category 1 (questions in cognitive domain, questions with research function, questions in affective domain), Category 2 (repeated questions, questions for narrowing the range, practice questions), and Category 3 (questions on student activity progress, memory questions, and thinking questions). The results of analyzing question patterns from five different science teaching models revealed a high frequency of questions in the fields of cognition and memory. For the circular learning model, questions from the cognitive field appeared the most often, while, student activity progressive questions in particular were used mostly in the 'preliminary concept introduction stage' of the circular learning model and the 'secondary exploratory stage', in which experiments were conducted, and displayed the characteristics of these stages. The discovery learning model combined the courses of observation, measurement, classification and generalization, but, during teaching demonstrations, memory questions turned up the most, while the portion of inquisitive function questions was low. There were many questions from the inquisitive learning model, and, compared to other learning models, many exploratory function questions turned up during the 'experiment planning stage' and 'experiment stage'. Definitional questions and thought questions for the STS learning model turned up more than other learning models. During the change of concept learning model, the five concepts of students were stimulated and the modification of scientific concepts was very much aided by using many memory questions.

  • Kim, Kyung Jang(1597~1653) as a disciple of Jang Hyun Gwang was very famous for his virtuous conduct. But his collection of works has been published recently. There has never been any studies about his thoughts, learning and life. Therefore this study has a target to arrange the process of his life and events, and to introduce outlines of his learning. The items of this study will be as follows: The first category will be his lineage, his life, and writings. The second category will be his learning. This category has two lower categories. The first will be focused on his intention to morally accomplished self by the method of self cultivation and practise of Confucian proprieties. The second will be focused on his learning of the Change and of the Confucian proprieties. And giving attention to his 6 diagrams that have symbolized principles of the Change, this paper tries to compare these to the other scholars ones and so will explane the features of his diagrams. The most important thing in this paper is to define his learning as so called in the rhetoric of Confucianism Wi-gi-ji-hak(爲己之學), which means self organization of one's moral personality by the method of self cultivation and to distinguish the steps of his learning developed. This method has never been applied, but this is expected to become a effective method for explanation of the truth of the Confucian scholar's world of learning.

  • This paper proposes a convergence model based on LSTM and CNN deep learning techniques, and obtains good results by applying it to multi-category news datasets. According to the experiment, the deep learning-based fusion model significantly improved the precision and accuracy of text sentiment classification.

Effects of Distance Education via Synchronous Video Conferencing on Attitude Changes of Korean and Japanese Students

  • This study seeks to prove three points through the research. The first point is to examine the changes of international attitudes with actual experiences using synchronous international distance learning. The second point is to examine the effectiveness of a synchronous international distance system. And the final point is to compare international attitudes among middle school and undergraduate school students in Korea and Japan. The study used the DVTS for audio and video communication tools and automatic translating chat as a text communication tool. This combination of communication tools was very effective for students from both countries to communicate for international collaborative learning activities. The study found several interesting patterns of attitude change from the results of the study. For whole category analysis, there are positive changes in four categories of international attitudes: consciousness to foreign countries, consideration for other's viewpoints, motivation for international education, and recognition for the counterpart country. However, there was no change in the nationality category.

  • The learning, which is a view extended from and replaces the concept of continuous improvement, has become the very core concept in Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. The most potent one among 11 core values in MBNQA Model is 'organizational and personal learning'. Learning also plays a critical role to get the good scores for 6 categories except results category among 7 categories of MBNQA Model. But the concept of learning often has been overlooked by the people who are interested in the MB award or TQM. This paper reviews and analyzes the concept of learning in the MB criteria since it first appears in 1993 to enlighten the importance of learning.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine How the exploratory activities using Excel and GSP which are exploratory software, in learning analytic geometry affected on the underachievers' analytic geometry concept development process. The subjects of 5 students who received the 8th~9th grades from their examination of the last semester, participated in a total of 7 units based on Skemp's intelligent learning model. The results of the study showed that there were two important cases found to nearly achieve the category $R_2$. One was reflective thinking could happen through exploratory software in category $R_1$. The other was the exploratory activities which could have the same effectiveness as the relational understanding in category $I_2$, as Skemp mentioned that there is a room to be achieved in the elementary level when such relational understanding is achieved.

The Study of the Financial Index Prediction Using the Equalized Multi-layer Arithmetic Neural Network (균등다층연산 신경망을 이용한 금융지표지수 예측에 관한 연구)

  • Many researches on the application of neural networks for making financial index prediction have proven their advantages over statistical and other methods. In this paper, a neural network model is proposed for the Buying, Holding or Selling timing prediction in stocks by the price index of stocks by inputting the closing price and volume of dealing in stocks and the technical indexes(MACD, Psychological Line). This model has an equalized multi-layer arithmetic function as well as the time series prediction function of backpropagation neural network algorithm. In the case that the numbers of learning data are unbalanced among the three categories (Buying, Holding or Selling), the neural network with conventional method has the problem that it tries to improve only the prediction accuracy of the most dominant category. Therefore, this paper, after describing the structure, working and learning algorithm of the neural network, shows the equalized multi-layer arithmetic method controlling the numbers of learning data by using information about the importance of each category for improving prediction accuracy of other category. Experimental results show that the financial index prediction using the equalized multi-layer arithmetic neural network has much higher correctness rate than the other conventional models.

  • In this Paper, we Propose an efficient web-based video learning evaluation system that is tailored to individual student's characteristics through the use of user profile-based information filtering. As a means of giving video-based questions, keyframes are extracted based on the location, size, and color information, and question-making intervals are extracted by means of differences in gray-level histograms as well as time windows. In addition, through a combination of the category-based system and the keyword-based system, questions for examination are given in order to ensure efficient evaluation. Therefore, students can enhance school achievement by making up for weak areas while continuing to identify their areas of interest.

A Study on Interaction Pattern, Learning Attitude, Task Performance by Meta-cognitive Level in Web-Based Learning (웹 기반 학습자의 메타인지수준별 학습활동분석 -간호학 대학원 학생을 중심으로-)

  • Purpose: Level of meta-cognition of students has been regarded as one of the crucial factors on web-based learning. This study aimed to describe interaction type in small group discussion of the nursing graduate students and to investigate learning consequences and interaction types in group discussion on meta-cognition level. Method: Twenty six graduate nursing students attending the class on-line at the K university in Seoul were included in the study. We measured their meta-cognition level and learning attitude. We also scored their individual and group reports as well as analyzed interaction type by reviewing the dialogue of the group discussion. Results: The participants showed low frequency of exploratory interaction and high frequency of integrative interaction in the cognitive interaction category. They showed frequent modification interaction in the meta-cognitive interaction category. Interestingly, the students with lower level of meta-cognition achieved significantly greater scores in the individual assignments. High functioning group consisting of the students with high meta-cognitive level produced greater group report. Conclusion: A new strategy is needed to encourage in-depth interaction in a group discussion of nursing students. Meta-cognitive level of the students should be considered to form a small group for discussion in order to improve group activities.

A preliminary study for the evaluation of the effects of sex education program on college students (대학생의 성교육 효과측정을 위한 기초 연구)

  • This study was performed to provide preliminary data for the development of a useful instrument to measure the effect of sex education. The study was conducted with the voluntary participation of 155 college students enrolled in the course "Sexuality and Relationship" at Y university in Seoul. At the end of that course, they were asked to write freely about the change they had experienced on sexuality. All meaningful statements were elicited and classified into 7 categories; "Change of Knowledge", "Enlightenment", "Change of Attitude on Sexuality", "Buildup of Ability", "Buildup of. Identity", "Change of Emotion", "Change of Behavior:' There were significant changes in the areas of knowledge(28. 6%), enlightenment(27.4%), and attitudes(20.3%) about sexuality among these 7 categories. The Change of Knowledge category consists of 3 areas: "concretion of knowledge", "increase of information", and "correction of misunderstanding." In the category of Enlightenment, total 12 areas are included: "sex role", "erception of lack of knowledge", "importance of family", "life plan", "parent role", "value of life", "equality", "sexual autonomy", "importance of sexuality", "freedom of sexuality", "perception of sexual problem", and "meaning of love." The Attitude Change category consists of 8 areas. These are "being natural", "being progressive", "being sensitive", "being truthful", "being expressive", "being cautious", "being responsible", and "being confident". The category of Buildup of Ability includes 4 areas: "problem solving", "sex education", "relationship", and "communication". The category of Buildup of Identity includes "sexual identity", and "value of sexuality". The Emotional Change category includes 3 areas: "positive feeling", "negative feeling", and "breaking from negative feeling on sexuality". The Behavior Change category includes "sex-related behavioral change". In conclusion, up to now most researches on sex education effect measures only changes of knowledge, attitude, and behavior. But we believe the changes in "Enlightenment", "Buildup of Ability", "Buildup of Identity", "Change of Emotion", should be included in addition to knowledge, attitude, and behavior in the development of an instrument to measure the sex education effects. And the effect of sex education should measure the degree of learning of autonomy, enlightenment, and ability of behavior and so on rather than studying the simple changes in sexuality.enment", "Buildup of Ability", "Buildup of Identity", "Change of Emotion", should be included in addition to knowledge, attitude, and behavior in the development of an instrument to measure the sex education effects.
