반 최적화기법에 의한 적층복합보의 손상추적 (Damage detection in laminated beams by anti-optimization)

  • 본 연구는 적층복합보에 있어서의 층간분리현상을 추적하는 기법을 소개하고 있다. 이 기법에서는 층간분리된 보와 층간분리되지 않은 보와의 응답차이를 최대화하도록 조화운동의 가력을 보위별로 최적화한다. 2개층의 알루미늄 보에 대하여 수치해석을 수행하였으며, 계측 및 보의 형태에 따른 노이즈를 고려하였다. 층간 분리를 모델링하기 위하여 스텝함수를 사용하였으며 층별 복합판 이론에 기본한 유한요소법을 이용하여 해석하였다.

Investigating deformations of RC beams: experimental and analytical study

  • In this paper, a theoretical and experimental study of the sectional behaviour of reinforced concrete beams subjected to short-term loads is carried out. The pure bending behaviour is analysed with moment-curvature diagrams. Thus, the experimental results obtained from 24 beams tested by the authors and reported in literature are compared with theoretical results obtained from a layered model, which combines the material parameters defined in Model Code 2010 with some of the most recognized tensions-tiffening models. Although the tests were carried out for short-term loads, the analysis demonstrates that rheological effects can be important and must be accounted to understand the experimental results. Another important conclusion for the beams tested in this work is that the method proposed by EC-2 tends to underestimate the tension-stiffening effects, leading to inaccuracies in the estimations of deflections. Thus, the actual formulation is analysed and a simple modification is proposed. The idea is the separation of the deflection prediction in two parts: one for short-term loads and other for rheological effects (shrinkage). The results obtained are in fairly good agreement with the experimental results, showing the feasibility of the proposed modification.

액정폴리머/폴리아미드6 미시복합재료의 내부구조 및 기계적 굽힘성능 평가 (Microstructural Morphology and Bending Performance Evaluation of Molded Microcomposites of Thermotropic LCP and PA6)

  • LCP원섬유(fibril)와 폴리아미드6 (PA6)수지로 사출성형된 복합재료 박판(molded thin composite plaques)의 미세구조와 굽힘강도에 대한 에폭시수지 함유율의 효과를 살펴보았다. 성형은 LCP원섬유의 용융점 이하에서 하였으며 이렇게 만들어진 판재는 횡방향 배향을 보이는 두께 $65-120{\mu\textrm{m}}$의 표피층(surface skin layer), 유동방향과 거의 일치하는 배향을 보이는 표피아래층(sub-skin layer), 아크형 곡선유동형태를 보이는 심층(core layer)으로 구성되어 있었다. 에폭시함유율이 달라도 각 층의 미세구조방향은 유사하였으나 에폭시함유율이 증가함에 따라 LCP영역(domain)이 원섬유상에서 층상구조로 변했고 거시적 파괴진로(fracture path)는 인장형에서 전단형으로 바뀌었다. 또한 에폭시 4.8vol%에서 가장 우수한 굽힘강도와 파단변형율을 보였다. 굽힘강도를 수치해석한 결과 에폭시성분을 복합재에 부가하면 각 층의 두께와 미세구조 같은 기하학적인 형태가 변하면서 각 층 자체의 탄성계수와 강도가 열등화 되었음을 알았다.

Influence of flexoelectricity on bending of piezoelectric perforated FG composite nanobeam rested on elastic foundation

  • A size dependent bending behavior of piezoelectrical flexoelectric layered perforated functionally graded (FG) composite nanobeam rested on an elastic foundation is investigated analytically. The composite beam is composed of regularly cutout FG core and two piezoelectric face sheets. The material characteristics is graded through the core thickness by power law function. Regular squared cutout perforation pattern is considered and closed forms of the equivalent stiffness parameters are derived. The modified nonlocal strain gradient elasticity theory is employed to incorporate the microstructure as well as nonlocality effects into governing equations. The Winkler as well as the Pasternak elastic foundation models are employed to simulate the substrate medium. The Hamiltonian approach is adopted to derive the governing equilibrium equation including piezoelectric and flexoelectric effects. Analytical solution methodology is developed to derive closed forms for the size dependent electromechanical as well as mechanical bending profiles. The model is verified by comparing the obtained results with the available corresponding results in the literature. To demonstrate the applicability of the developed procedure, parametric studies are performed to explore influences of gradation index, elastic medium parameters, flexoelectric and piezoelectric parameters, geometrical and peroration parameters, and material parameters on the size dependent bending behavior of piezoelectrically layered PFG nanobeams. Results obtained revealed the significant effects both the flexoelectric and piezoelectric parameters on the bending behavior of the piezoelectric composite nanobeams. These parameters could be controlled to improve the size dependent electromechanical as well as mechanical behaviors. The obtained results and the developed procedure are helpful for design and manufacturing of MEMS and NEMS.

샌드위치 복합재 적용 철도차량 차체 구조물의 표준유한요소모델 제시 연구 (A Study on the Standardized Finite Element Models for Carbody Structures of Railway Vehicle Made of Sandwich Composites)

  • 본 논문은 샌드위치 복합재가 적용된 철도차량 차체 구조물을 위한 표준유한요소모델을 제시하였다. 최근 샌드위치 복합재는 높은 굽힘 강성 및 강도를 가지며 차체의 경량화와 공간 확보를 통해 에너지 효율을 향상시킬 수 있어 국내의 많은 분야에서 널리 사용되고 있다. 그러므로 복합재 철도 차량의 제작 전에 유한요소법 등을 통해 구조안전성을 검증해야 한다. 본 연구에서는 다양한 철도차량의 실제 구조시험과 같은 수직, 압축, 비틀림 하중 및 고유진동수 해석을 통해 철도차량 구조물의 표준유한요소모델을 검증 제시하였다. 그 결과, 샌드위치 패널의 굽힘 강성을 향상시키기 위한 보강 금속 프레임에는 빔 요소보다는 사각 쉘 요소가 적절하였으며, 샌드위치 패널의 허니콤 코어와 적층복합재의 경우 적층 쉘 요소와 비교하여 적층 쉘 요소와 솔리드 요소를 사용하는 것이 적절하다. 또한, 제안된 표준유한요소모델은 유한요소모델의 수정 없이 충돌모델에 적용할 수 있는 장점을 가지고 있다.

VIRTUAL PREDICTION OF A RADIAL-PLY TIRE'S IN-PLANE FREE VIBRATION MODES TRANSMISSIBILITY

  • A full nonlinear finite element P185/70Rl4 passenger car radial-ply tire model was developed and run on a 1.7-meter-diameter spinning test drum/cleat model at a constant speed of 50 km/h in order to investigate the tire transient response characteristics, i.e. the tire in-plane free vibration modes transmissibility. The virtual tire/drum finite element model was constructed and tested using the nonlinear finite element analysis software, PAM-SHOCK, a nonlinear finite element analysis code. The tire model was constructed in extreme detail with three-dimensional solid, layered membrane, and beam finite elements, incorporating over 18,000 nodes and 24 different types of materials. The reaction forces of the tire axle in vertical (Z axis) and longitudinal (X axis) directions were recorded when the tire rolled over a cleat on the drum, and then the FFT algorithm was applied to examine the transient response information in the frequency domain. The result showed that this PI 85/70Rl4 tire has clear peaks of 84 and 45 Hz transmissibility in the vertical and longitudinal directions. This result was validated against more than 10 previous studies by either theoretical or experimental approaches and showed excellent agreement. The tire's post-impact response was also investigated to verify the numerical convergence and computational stability of this FEA tire model and simulation strategy, the extraordinarily stable scenario was confirmed. The tire in-plane free vibration modes transmissibility was successfully detected. This approach was never before attempted in investigations of tire in-plane free vibration modes transmission phenomena; this work is believed to be the first of its kind.

다중모델 해석을 위한 부분층별-등가단층 결합요소 (Partial Layerwise-to-ESL Coupling Elements for Multiple Model Analysis)

  • 이 논문에서는 복합재료 적층판 해석을 위해 등가단층요소와 부분-선형 층별 적층요소를 서로 연계시킨 결합요소를 제안하였다. 등가단층요소는 퇴화 쉘요소에 의해 정식화되었으며, 반면에 부분-선형 층별요소의 경우 면내변위는 부분적 선형변화로, 두께방향으로의 면외변위는 일정하다고 가정하였다. 제안된 유한요소모델은 p-수렴방식에 기초를 두고 있다. 변위장 보간을 위해 적분형 르장드르 다항식이, 수치적분을 수행하기 위해서는 가우스-로바토 적분을 각각 채택하였다. 이 연구에서는 주로 p-수렴 결합요소의 검증을 위해 다양한 형태의 유한요소 다중모델에 대해 안정된 수치해석값을 보여주는 지에 초점을 두었다. 채택한 예제는 정해를 쉽게 알고 있는 단순한 문제로 인장력을 받는 평판 또는 연직하중을 받는 캔틸레버보에 적용하여 제안된 요소의 성능을 평가하였다.

High quality topological insulator Bi2Se3 grown on h-BN using molecular beam epitaxy

  • Topological insulator (TI) is a bulk-insulating material with topologically protected Dirac surface states in the band gap. In particular, $Bi_2Se_3$ attracted great attention as a model three-dimensional TI due to its simple electronic structure of the surface states in a relatively large band gap (~0.3 eV). However, experimental efforts using $Bi_2Se_3$ have been difficult due to the abundance of structural defects, which frequently results in the bulk conduction being dominant over the surface conduction in transport due to the bulk doping effects of the defect sites. One promising approach in avoiding this problem is to reduce the structural defects by heteroepitaxially grow $Bi_2Se_3$ on a substrate with a compatible lattice structure, while also preventing surface degradation by encapsulating the pristine interface between $Bi_2Se_3$ and the substrate in a clean growth environment. A particularly promising choice of substrate for the heteroepitaxial growth is hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN), which has the same two-dimensional (2D) van der Waals (vdW) layered structure and hexagonal lattice symmetry as $Bi_2Se_3$. Moreover, since h-BN is a dielectric insulator with a large bandgap energy of 5.97 eV and chemically inert surfaces, it is well suited as a substrate for high mobility electronic transport studies of vdW material systems. Here we report the heteroepitaxial growth and characterization of high quality topological insulator $Bi_2Se_3$ thin films prepared on h-BN layers. Especially, we used molecular beam epitaxy to achieve high quality TI thin films with extremely low defect concentrations and an ideal interface between the films and substrates. To optimize the morphology and microstructural quality of the films, a two-step growth was performed on h-BN layers transferred on transmission electron microscopy (TEM) compatible substrates. The resulting $Bi_2Se_3$ thin films were highly crystalline with atomically smooth terraces over a large area, and the $Bi_2Se_3$ and h-BN exhibited a clear heteroepitaxial relationship with an atomically abrupt and clean interface, as examined by high-resolution TEM. Magnetotransport characterizations revealed that this interface supports a high quality topological surface state devoid of bulk contribution, as evidenced by Hall, Shubnikov-de Haas, and weak anti-localization measurements. We believe that the experimental scheme demonstrated in this talk can serve as a promising method for the preparation of high quality TI thin films as well as many other heterostructures based on 2D vdW layered materials.

휨 철근이 배근된 HPFRCC 보 부재의 휨 거동 (Flexural Behavior of High Performance Fiber Reinforced Cementitious Composites (HPFRCC) Beam with a Reinforcing Bar)

  • 이 논문에서는 철근의 효과를 고려한 고인성 섬유 보강 콘크리트의 휨 거동을 분석하기 위해 이에 대한 휨 실험을 수행하였다. 실험 결과, 부재의 파괴 시 까지 안정적인 인장 응력을 보여주는 HPFRCC로 인해 휨 강도가 증가하는 것으로 나타났으며, 특히 인장 철근이 항복할 때까지 균열이 국부화되지 않고 고르게 분산되는 것으로 나타났다. 단면 해석을 통해, 직접 인장 실험으로부터 측정된 인장강도를 이용하여 해석할 경우 R/HPFRCC의 휨 강도를 과대평가하는 것으로 나타난 반면, 인장 강성 실험으로부터 도출된 인장강도를 이용하여 해석할 경우 실험 결과와 비교적 잘 일치하는 것으로 나타났다. 실험 및 이론적 연구를 바탕으로 이 논문에서는 휨 파괴 기준을 단면 상단에서의 콘크리트 압축파괴에 의한 것과 단면 하단부의 인장 파괴에 의한 것으로 구분하였다. 정의된 두 가지 휨 파괴 기준에 근거하여 이 논문에서는 극한 휨 강도를 산정할 수 있는 식을 제안하였으며, 제안된 식은 R/HPFRCC 부재의 설계 및 해석에 유용할 것으로 사료된다.
