Study of Transient Response in Non-uniform Plasma Layer with Optically-Controlled Microwave Pulses (광-마이크로파 기반 유도플라즈마의 과도응답 특성에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper we develop the characteristic of density on non-uniform plasma in different layer of the semiconductor with optically controlled microwave pulses. The transient response of the microwave pulses in different plasma layer has been evaluated by calculating the variation of the reflection function of dielectric microstrip lines. The lines has used under open-ended termination containing optically induced plasma region, which has illuminated a laser source. The characteristics impedances resulting from the presence of plasma are evaluated by the transmission line model. The analyzes the variation of transient response in a 0.01cm layer near the surface for frequency range from 1GHz to 128GHz. The diffusion length LD is larger than compared to the absorption depth $l/_{\alpha}l$. The variation of characteristic response in plasma layer with microwave pulses which has in deferentially localized has been evaluated analytically.

  • We have developed a simple synthetic method for fabricating a wafer-scale colloidal crystal film of 2D crystals in a 1D stack based on a combination of two simple processes : the self-assembly of polystyrene (PS) nanospheres at the water-air interface and the layer-by-layer (LbL) scooping transfer technique. The main advantage of this approach is that it allows excellent control of the thickness (at a layer level) of the crystals and the formation of a vertical crack-free layer over a wafer-scale (4 inch). We investigate the optical and morphological properties of the PhC multilayers fabricated using various mono-sized colloidal crystals (250, 300, 350, 420, 580, 720, and 850 nm), and mixed binary colloidal crystals (300/350 and 250/350 nm).

  • The diffusion layer within MEA(membrane electrode assembly) has been evaluated important factor for improvement of cell performance in DMFC. The diffusion layer in MEA structure leads to the reduction of catalyst loss in active catalysts layer as well as prevention of water-flooding in cathode. Cell performance is directly affected by interior properties of diffusion layer materials. Acetylene Black and $RuO_2$ with large pore size and low porosity compared to Vulcan XC-72R gave better performance caused by vigorous methanol diffusion and water removal. And $RuO_2$ as diffusion layer materials showed different behavior in anode and cathode compartment, that is, diffusion layers in anode and cathode side make methanol diffusion and water removal facilitate, respectively.

  • Meteorological measurements were carried out in the basin of Cheong-Kwan located Yang-San near Pusan city, from Oct. 30 to Nov. 1, 1988. According to the measured data, we vended the close relationship between the variation of nocturnal Inversion layer and the meteorological elements. The nocturnal intrersion layer by radiative cooling in this site extends up to 130 meters or so. And the nocturnal jet ap- pears just above or at the top of the inversion layer, and the stronger of the prevailing wind blows, and the lower of the jet level appears. Some meteorological features such as heating, cooling etc., began to change in or in the slightly higher level of the inversion layer, when they are formed, reinforced and disappeared. And the it In the basin preserves its character because It Is not affected by local scale air flow.

  • We have developed a cylindrical mixing layer model of a stellar jet including cooling effect in order to understand an optical emission mechanism along collimated high velocity stellar jets associated with young stellar objects. The cylindrical results have been calculated to be the same as the 2D ones presented by Canto & Raga(1991) because the entrainment efficiency in our cylindrical model has been obtained to be the same value as the 2D model has given. We have discussed the morphological and physical characteristics of the mixing layers by the cooling effect. As the jet Mach number increases, the initial temperature of the mixing layer goes high because the kinetic energy of the jet partly converts to the thermal energy of the mixing layer. The initial cooling of the mixing layer is very severe, changing its outer boundary radius. A subsequent change becomes adiabatic. The number of the Mach disks in the stellar jet and the total radiative luminosity of the mixing layer, based on our cylindrical calculation, have quite agreed with the observations.

  • The effect of MgO buffer layer on the structural properties of sputter-grown ZnO thin film was investigated. Sapphire (0001) and Si (100) substrate were used for the growth and MgO buffer layer was inserted between ZnO thin film and the substrate. X-ray diffraction pattern indicated that enhanced crystallinity in the ZnO thin film grown was achieved by inserting very thin MgO buffer layer, regardless of the substrate type. The strain in the ZnO thin film could also be controlled by the insertion of the MgO buffer layer, and tendency of the strain was strongly dependent on the substrate type.

  • We report catalytic decomposition of few-layer graphene on an $Au/SiO_x/Si$ surface wherein oxygen is supplied by dissociation of the native $SiO_x$ layer at a relatively low temperature of $400^{\circ}C$. The detailed chemical evolution of the graphene covered $SiO_x/Si$ surface with and without gold during the catalytic process is investigated using a spatially resolved photoelectron emission method. The oxygen atoms from the native $SiO_x$ layer activate the gold-mediated catalytic decomposition of the entire graphene layer, resulting in the formation of direct contact between the Au and the Si substrate. The notably low contact resistivity found in this system suggests that the catalytic depletion of a $SiO_x$ layer could realize a new way to micromanufacture high-quality electrical contact.

A Study on the Characteristics of Yellow Layer Cake Made with Bamboo Leaf Powder (죽엽을 이용한 Yellow Layer Cake의 특성에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the properties of yellow layer cake made with bamboo leaf powder. Physical properties of the medium and cake flour with bamboo leaf powder were tested by falling number, farinogram, alveogram and after making yellow layer cake, which were tested by rheometer and water activity etc. We found that falling numbers increased with addition of bamboo leaf powder and adding bamboo leaf powder to the flour decreased peak viscosity, holding strength, final viscosity etc. The p value of the alveogram increased for the flour containing bamboo leaf powder increased, but development time and stability decreased. The water activity of the yellow layer cakes made with bamboo leaf powder decreased during storage, but they did not show significant differences. The results of the sensory test showed that the 3% of addition of bamboo leaf powder had the best scores.

Growth and Structural Characterization of Single Layer Dichalcogenide $MoS_2$

  • Synthesis of novel two dimensional materials has gained tremendous attention recently as they are considered as alternative materials for replacing graphene that suffers from a lack of bandgap, a property that is essential for many applications. Single layer molybdenum disulfide ($MoS_2$) has a direct bandgap (1.8eV) that is promising for use in next-generation optoelectronics and energy harvesting devices. We have successfully grown high quality single layer $MoS_2$ by a facile vapor-solid transport route. As-grown single layer $MoS_2$ was carefully characterized by using X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, field emission scanning electron microscopy and electrical transport measurement. The results indicate that a high quality single layer $MoS_2$ can be successfully grown on silicon substrate. This may open up great opportunities for the exploration of novel nanoelectronic devices.

On Compositional Convection in Near-Eutectic Solidification System Cooled from a Bottom Boundary

  • Natural convection is driven by the compositional buoyancy in solidification of a binary melt. The stabilities of convection in a growing mushy layer were analyzed here in the time-dependent solidification system of a near-eutectic melt cooled impulsively from below. The linear stability equations were transformed to self-similar forms by using the depth of the mushy layer as a length scale. In the liquid layer the stability equations are based on the propagation theory and the thermal buoyancy is neglected. The critical Rayleigh number for the mushy layer increases with decreasing the Stefan number and the Prandtl number. The critical conditions for solidification of aqueous ammonium chloride solution are discussed and compared with the results of the previous model for the liquid layer.
