  • Analyzing the psychological and pedagogical literature, we showed the interest of researchers in the problem posed. The concept of competence is considered, which is interpreted as giving the key to solving a wide range of educational and life tasks. Research competence implies the ability to cooperate, enter into contacts, readiness for changes, for self-determination and is an integral quality of the individual, expressed in the readiness and ability to independently search for solutions to new problems and creative transformation of reality based on a set of personal and meaningful knowledge, skills, methods of activity and value attitudes. The article offers conditions that certify the improvement of forms and methods of training students in the formation of research competence of future specialists. The use of innovative technologies contributes to improving the level of training of future specialists: students are better prepared for classes, take an active part in the assimilation of program material in laboratory classes. It is noted that this creates a subject-subject relationship between the student and the teacher, and changes the attitude of students to classes. In the process of such organization of educational activities, students are convinced of the need for knowledge and its effectiveness, learn to compare, generalize, classify, establish cause-and-effect relationships, express opinions, defend their point of view, they ensure success in their studies, and develop research competence. It is proved that in order to apply the latest technologies, the teacher himself must know them well, that is, constantly improve himself, master new methods, techniques, ideas, which will help him create new pedagogical technologies and implement them in the educational process.

  • In this study, we investigate child-care teachers' perceptions of emerging technologies, with a particular focus on fields connected to the Fourth Industrial Revolution. More specifically, we explore how satisfied child-care teachers are with existing educational tools, whether they are interested in or willing to use the latest technology within child care, and their perceived likelihood of adopting these new technologies within child care sites. A total of 181 directors and teachers working at child care institutions in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province participated in the survey. The findings are as follows: firstly, child-care teachers were moderately satisfied with current teaching methods and their effects; secondly, child-care teachers were not especially interested in emerging technologies; thirdly, although interest in applying the latest technology to child care sites was moderately high, refusal to use this technology was also somewhat high; fourthly, many agreed that this technology would eventually become common. This study is expected to provide useful information to those planning to introduce the latest technology to child care sites and basic data to improve teacher training.

  • Background: With the need for a domestic level 3 probabilistic safety assessment (PSA), it is essential to develop a Korea-specific code. Health effect assessments study radiation-induced impacts; in particular, long-term health effects are evaluated in terms of cancer risk. The objective of this study was to analyze the latest cancer risk models developed by foreign organizations and to compare the methodology of how they were developed. This paper also provides suggestions regarding the development of Korean cancer risk models. Materials and Methods: A review of cancer risk models was carried out targeting the latest models: the NUREG model (1993), the BEIR VII model (2006), the UNSCEAR model (2006), the ICRP 103 model (2007), and the U.S. EPA model (2011). The methodology of how each model was developed is explained, and the cancer sites, dose and dose rate effectiveness factor (DDREF) and mathematical models are also described in the sections presenting differences among the models. Results and Discussion: The NUREG model was developed by assuming that the risk was proportional to the risk coefficient and dose, while the BEIR VII, UNSCEAR, ICRP, and U.S. EPA models were derived from epidemiological data, principally from Japanese atomic bomb survivors. The risk coefficient does not consider individual characteristics, as the values were calculated in terms of population-averaged cancer risk per unit dose. However, the models derived by epidemiological data are a function of sex, exposure age, and attained age of the exposed individual. Moreover, the methodologies can be used to apply the latest epidemiological data. Therefore, methodologies using epidemiological data should be considered first for developing a Korean cancer risk model, and the cancer sites and DDREF should also be determined based on Korea-specific studies.

  • Purpose: This study sought to evaluate the clinical effectiveness of the shortening effect of the modified Weil osteotomy for the treatment of Freiberg's disease. Materials and Methods: We reviewed 21 cases treated with the modified Weil osteotomy for Freiberg's disease from November 2005 to June 2019. The average follow-up period was 32.5 months and the mean age of the patients was 38.3 years. The clinical results were analyzed using the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS) lesser metatarsophalangeal-interphalangeal scale, the visual analogue scale (VAS), and the range of motion (ROM) of the metatarsophalangeal joint. In the radiologic evaluation, the length of preoperative and postoperative metatarsal shortening was compared. Results: The average AOFAS lesser metatarsophalangeal-interphalangeal scale showed an improvement from 60.5 preoperatively to 90.9 at the latest follow-up. VAS showed a decrease from 5.4 preoperatively to 0.9 at the latest follow-up. ROM of the affected metatarsophalangeal joint increased from 40.2 degrees preoperatively to 58.6 degrees at the latest follow-up. The mean length of metatarsal shortening was 6.7 mm. There was no transfer metatarsalgia, osteonecrosis, and definite joint space narrowing. Conclusion: Modified Weil osteotomy with second layer cutting is an effective treatment option to restore the joint surface and painless joint motion for patients with Freiberg's disease.

  • Smartphones, are currently equipped with high-performance hardware to process large amounts of data and provide most of the functions provided by desktop PCs. In addition, the smartphones enable quick user authentication through biometric information collected from embedded sensors. However, the biometric authentication method is sometimes rejected due to social and cultural environment, security vulnerabilities, and misrecognition rate. Thus, conventional authentication methods such as PIN and pattern authentication are still mainly used. Consider the latest foldable and bendable smartphones. These devices may be vulnerable to social engineering attacks as they use conventional authentication methods without considering their form factors. In this study, therefore, we propose an authentication method using partial elements of PIN and pattern authentication as a way to increase the security of the conventional authentication methods and consider the recent form factors. According to the performance evaluation results, our method provides improved safety compared to the conventional methods.

  • Passphrases are considered to be more secure than passwords since they are longer than passwords. However, users choose predictable word patterns and common phrases to make passphrases memorable, which in turn significantly lowers security. While random passphrases appear to be stronger, surprisingly they are neither strong nor memorable. In this paper, we present the latest passphrase research, and introduce a new way to create a passphrase using mnemonics. Passphrase generation using mnemonics shows promising results in improving both strength and memorability.

  • Objectives : This study was designed to collect the latest papers and to find more effective approach for childhood obesity. Methods : We searched 107 papers in English from Pubmed(www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov) and selected 52 in favor of our study. In addition to that, we searched 29 papers in Chinese from www.cnki.net. Results are as follows. Results and Conclusions : There are not completely new treatments for childhood obesity. Instead of that, many studies aimed for prevention through family education, nutrition education, and exercises education. Specially, because some diseases including hypertension, diabetes and heart disease are connected with obese children, medication can be prescribed optionally. In that case, their mental health must be laid emphasis. And in China, TCM(Traditional Chinese Medicine) is very common treatment for childhood obesity. Acupuncture, herb medication and manual therapy could be used usefully. It is suggested that above latest treatments can be combined with Korean traditional treatments method in treating obese children.
