Stencil is used normally as a mask for solder pasting on pad of a printed circuit board (PCB). The objective of this study is to develop a stencil cutting system and determine the optimal conditions to make good-quality stencil by using a Nd:YAG laser. The effects of process parameters such as laser power, type of mask, gas pressure, cutting speed and pulse duration on the cut edge quality were investigated. In order to analyze the cut surface characteristics (roughness, kerfwidth, dross) optical microscopy, SEM microscopy and roughness measurements were used. As a result, the optimal conditions of cutting process parameters were determined, and the practical feasibility of the proposed system was also examined by using a commercial Gerber file for PCB stencil manufacturing.
The confocal laser scanning microscopy and two-photon microscopy was implemented based on a single laser source and an objective lens. We imaged and compared the morphology of identical sites of ex vivo human skin using both microscopes. The back-scattering emission from the sample provided the contrast for the confocal microscopy. The intrinsic autofluorescence and the second harmonic generation were used as the luminescence source for the two-photon microscopy. The wavelength of the Ti:Sapphire laser was tuned at 710 nm, which corresponds to the excitation peak of NADH and FAD in skin tissue. The various cell layers in the epidermis and the papillary dermis were clearly distinguished by both imaging modalities. The two-photon microscopy more clearly visualized the intercellular region and the nucleus of the cell compared to the confocal microscopy. The fibrous structures in the dermis were more clearly resolved by the confocal microscopy. Numerous cells in papillary dermal layer, as deep as $100\;{\mu}m$, were observed in both CLSM and two-photon microscopy. While most previous studies focused on fibrous structure imaging (collagen and elastin fiber) in the dermis, we demonstrated that the combined imaging with the CLSM and two-photon microscopy can be applied for the non-invasive study of the population, distribution and metabolism of papillary dermal cells in skin.
ZnO thin films on (100) p-type silicon substrates have been deposited by pulsed laser deposition(PLD) technique using an Nd:YAG laser with a wavelength of 266nm. The influence of the deposition parameters, such as oxygen pressure, substrate temperature and laser energy density variation on the properties of the grown film, was studied. The experiments were performed for oxygen gas flow rate of 100~700 sccm and substrate temperatures in the range of 200~$500^{\circ}C$. We investigated the structural and morphological properties of ZnO thin films using X-ray diffraction(XRD), scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and atomic force microscopy(AFM).

ZnO thin films on (l00) p-type Si and sapphire substrates have been deposited by a pulsed laser deposition technique using an Nd:YAG laser with a wavelength of 266 nm. The influence of the deposition parameters such as oxygen pressure, substrate temperature and laser energy density on the properties of the grown films was studied. The experiments were performed for substrate temperatures in the range of 200∼50$0^{\circ}C$ and oxygen pressure in the range of 100∼700 sccm. All of the films grown in this experiment show strong c-axis orientation with (002) textured ZnO peak. With increasing substrate temperature, the FWHM (full width at half maximum) and surface roughness were decreased. In the case of using sapphire substrate, the intensity of PL spectra increased with increasing ambient oxygen flow rate. We investigated the structural and morphological properties of ZnO thin films using X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM).
This work concentrated on the effect of different laser beams on the microstructure and dielectric properties of $BaTiO_3$ nanoparticles at different calcinations times during the gelling preparation step. The nanoparticles were prepared by the sol-gel method. A green (1000 mW, 532 nm) and red laser beam (500 mW, 808 nm), were applied vertically at the center of stirring raw materials. The samples were sintered at $1000^{\circ}C$ for 2, 4, and 6 h. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis showed that samples prepared under the green laser have the highest purity. The FT-IR spectra showed that the stretching and bending vibrations of TiO bond without any other bonds, which are compatible to the X-ray diffraction (XRD) results. Samples were characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Scan electron microscopy (SEM), and UV-Visible spectrophotometer. Characterization showed the samples prepared under the green laser to have the highest particle size (~ 50 nm) and transparency for all sintering durations. Laser beam effects on electrical characterization were studied. BT nanoparticles prepared under the green laser show the higher dielectric constant, which was found to increase with sintering temperature.
We fabricated diamond like carbon (DLC) thin films using pulsed laser deposition (PLD) method. Among many deposition parameters, the effects of the deposition temperature and the laser energy density were investigated. Structural properties of the films were studied by Raman spectroscopy. The surface morphologies and cross-section imagies of the films were investigated by atomic force microscopy (AFM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) respctively. DLC thin films fabricated at $12 J/cm^2$ of a laser energy density and $300^{\circ}C$ of a deposition temperature showed the best quality.
The present study described with different microscopy approaches chloroplasts lobes in Laurencia sensu latu (Rhodophyta) species and found inter-specific differences among them. Chloroplasts were investigated using confocal laser scanning microscopy (LSM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and high resolution scanning electron microscopy (HRSEM). Using and TEM and HRSEM images we distinguished chloroplasts with lobes than chloroplasts without lobes in Yuzurua poiteaui var. gemmifera (Harvey) M. J. Wynne and Laurencia dendroidea J. Agardh cortical cells. The LSM images showed chloroplasts lobes (CLs) with different morphologies, varying from thicker and longer undulated projections in Y. poiteaui var. and L. dendroidea to very small and thin tubules as in Laurencia translucida Fujii & Cordeiro-Marino. The diameter and length of CLs from Y. poiteaui var. and L. dendroidea were significantly higher than L. translucida CLs (p < 0.01). Based on LSM observations, we suggest that lobes morphology has a taxonomic validity only to characterize L. translucida species.

Carbon-coated Ni, Cu and Sn nanocapsules were investigated by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and a four-point probe device. All of these nanocapsules were prepared by an arc-discharge method, in which the bulk metals were evaporated under methane ($CH_4$) atmosphere. Three pure metals (Ni, Cu, Sn) were typically diverse in formation of the carbon encapsulated nanoparticles and their different mechanisms were investigated. It was indicated that a thick carbon layers formed on the surface of Ni(C) nanocapsules, whereas a thin shell of carbon with 1~2 layers covered on Cu(C) nanocapsules, and the Sn(C) nanocapsules was, in fact, a longger multi-walled carbon nanotubes partially-filled with metal Sn. As one typical magnetic/dielectric nanocomposite particles, Ni(C) nanocapsules and its counterpart of oxide-coated Ni(O) nanocapsules were compared in the electrically conductive behaviors for further applications as the electromagnetic materials.
The objective of this study is to investigate the thermal behavior on material surface and the variation in the surface morphology of aluminum 6061 alloy by the Nd:YAG pulsed-laser irradiation. First, we predicted the surface temperature variation during pulsed-laser irradiation by using the two dimensional finite element analysis. When the pulsed-laser of 133 mJ energy and 5 ns pulse duration is irradiated on the surface of aluminum alloy, the material surface is thought to be melting because the surface temperature rises steadily up to about $660^{\circ}C$ exceeding the melting point. Also, the experimental results show that the solidification microstructure has been developed clearly after surface melting. Second, the diameter of melted zone was analysed by finite element analysis and measured by OM(Optical Microscopy). It increased logarithmically with increase in the number of laser irradiation. In addition, AFM(Atomic Force Microscopy) measurement showed an increase in the average surface roughness during pulsed-laser irradiation.
