  • Semiconductor laser diode has a reflective facet in a both-ends side fundamentally. Laser performance for improving, Anti-Reflection and High-reflection coating on the facet of semiconductor laser diode. To prevent internal feedback from both facets for realizing superluminescent diode and reducing the reflection-induced intensity noise of laser diode, it's key techniques are AR/HR coatings. In the study AR coating film were manufactured by Ion-Assisted Deposition(IAD) system. Then manufactured coating film measurement electrical properties(L-I-V, Se, Resistor) and Optical properties (wavelength FFP)

매니퓰레이터의 궤적 제어를 이용한 레이저 부분 절단 시스템의 유연한 자동화에 관한 연구 (A Study on Flexible Automation of a Laser Semicutting System using the Path Control of Manipulator)

  • This paper proposes an automatic microshaping technology using laser and applies it to implementation of semicutting control system of the panel inside which a car air bag is equipped. Since it is impossible to project laser directly onto the desired working point of a target panel due to fixedness of laser generator, we reflect the generated laser, using reflection mirrors and focusing lenses, to project onto the desired working point. Also, in order to conduct an uniform semicutting control with constant width and depth, we control the end-effector of manipulator, which grasp the laser reflection mirror, to track working path with constant speed and orientation. The validity and effectiveness of the proposed methods are checked through experiments tracking a path formatted with straight lines and arcs.

  • U형 구조의 SGDBR (Sampled Grating Distributed Bragg Reflector) 레이저 다이오드를 설계하고, 시간 영역 시뮬레이션 방법으로 해석하였다. U형 구조의 SGDBR 레이저 다이오드는 SGDBR, 능동, 수동, TIR (Total Internal Reflection) 거울 영역들로 이루어져 있어서, 각 영역들 간의 결합 손실의 영향을 면밀히 고려하여야 한다. 설계된 U형 SGDBR 레이저 다이오드의 파장 가변범위는 1525 nm에서부터 1570 nm로서 시뮬레이션을 통하여 확인하였다. 설계 튜닝 범위에서 완전한 레이저 다이오드 특성을 얻기 위해서는, 미러 영역에서의 손실은 약 2 dB 이하이고, 능동 및 수동 영역 간 butt 결합에서의 매질 간 굴절률 차이는 0.1 이하를 유지하도록 도파 구조가 설계되어야 한다.

용접접합부의 형상계측을 위한 주사형 시각센서의 설계에 관한 연구 (A Study on Design of Visual Sensor Using Scanning Beam for Shape Recognition of Weld Joint.)

  • A visual sensor consisted of polygonal mirror, laser, and CCD camera was proposed to measure the distance to the weld joint for recognizing the joint shape. To scan the laser beam of the sensor onto an object, 8-facet polygonal mirror was used as the rotating mirror. By locating the laser and the camera at axi-symmetrical positions around the mirror, the synchronized-scan condition could be satisfied even when the mirror was set to rotate through one direction continuously, which could remove the inertia effect of the conventional oscillating-mirror methods. The mathematical modelling of the proposed sensor with the optical triangulation method made it possible to derive the relation between the position of an image on the camera and the one of a laser light on the object. Through the geometrical simulation of the proposed sensor with the principal of reflection and virtual image, the optical path of a laser light could be predicted. The position and direction of the CCD camera were determined based on the Scheimpflug's condition to fit the focus of any image reflected from an object within the field of view. The results of modelling and simulation revealed that the proposed visual sensor could be used to recognize the weld joint and its vicinity located within the range of the field of view and the resolution.   • 본 논문에서는 SLA 방식의 3D 프린터 사출방식과 사무용 레이저 프린터의 LSU(Laser Scanning Unit)를 융합한 폴리곤 미러 스캐닝 방식의 3D프린터에 대해 핵심이 되는 기능인 기구부 동작에 따른 테스트를 시행하였다. 이러한 테스트는 레이저 동작 및 제어가 가능한지 확인하였으며 아울러 레이저 모듈과 폴리곤 미러를 사용하여 X축에 일정한 점이 출력됨을 확인하였다. 그리고 레이저를 고정된 F-theta 렌즈에 입사한 후 보정된 빔의 출력을 확인하고 보정된 빔을 반사 거울에 맞춰 Z축 상판에 초점이 맞춰지는지를 확인하였다.

  • From the Beckmann's reflection model of wave incident, reflected light from a surface is known to have not only specular but also diffuse components. The specular component dominant a surface for a mirror-like surface is distributed on the almost the same area as the spot on the surface, but the diffuse component region dominant f3r a rough surface spreads scattered on the larger areas than the spot. Therefore, statistic parameters from the scattered light distribution are more meaningful in the diffuse region, while the magnitude of rather meaning in the specular region. In usual, there need two sensors to acquire two kinds of information: Photo-detector for light intensity magnitude and image sensor for light intensity distribution. But dual sensor scheme requires a beam splitter usually to feed light to each sensor, and moreover there is not a combination rule to relieve the different sensor characteristics. In this study a new method is proposed for acquisition of the dual information using only an image sensor. Specular region is established on an image area being distinguished from a diffuse component, and laser power is adjusted so that no pixel of the image sensor in the specular region is saturated. Simulation based on the light reflection theory and the experimental results are quite well matched, and thus the proposed method was proved to be very useful for mirror-like surface measurement.

  • A design of a four-mirror optical system for submicron lithography using KrF excimer laser beam(λ=248nm) is presented. By using the third order aberration theory, analytic solutions for a telecentric, flat-field, and anastigmatic four-spherical-mirror system (reduction magnification 5$\times$) are found. Aspherization is carried out to the spherical mirror surfaces in order to reduce the residual higher order aberrations and vignetting effect. Finally we obtain a reflection system useful in submicron lithographic application.

초정밀 단속 절삭을 이용한 다각형 미러의 절삭특성에 관한 연구 (A study of ultra-precision interrupt machining for an polygon mirror)

  • Generally, the core component of small precise optical device demands high accuracy of manufacturing processes. Although, the geometry of it is simple, the manufacturing technique to materialize is categorized as the ultra-precision machining and it must be done with the specialized machines and by the trained operator. Typical examples of small precise optical device are laser printer and phone camera. As a core part of laser printer, polygon mirror is used in laser scanning unit(LSU). It couldn't be fabricated with conventional machine but specified machine for polygon mirror machining. In this study, Polygon mirror with 16 surfaces was manufactured in the process of ultra-precision fly-cutting with Al material and investigated optimum machining conditions in terms of feedrate, pitch per cycle and depth of cut. Owing to process of polishing has bad influence on reflection angle, surface roughness, $R_{max}$=10nm, and form error, $Ra={\lambda}/10({\lambda}=632nm)$, are prerequisites for polygon mirror.

An Asymmetric Sampled Grating Laser and Its Application to Multi-Wavelength Laser Array

  • We propose an asymmetric sampled grating laser and a multi-wavelength laser array associated with it. Asymmetric sampling periods combined with an index shifter make it possible to use first order reflection for lasing operations. With the structure of our design, we achieved a simple fabrication procedure as well as a high yield without using complex and time-consuming e-beam lithography for multi-period gratings. We analyzed the effect of mirror coating by numerical analysis to improve single mode and power extraction performance. By using high reflection-antireflection coatings, we obtained high power extraction efficiency without degradation of the single mode property. For the multi-wavelength laser array, to gain wavelength control, we varied the sampling periods from one laser to an adjacent laser across the array. With this approach, we showed the feasibility of an array of up to 30 channels with 100 GHz wavelength spacing.
