This study shows that the system performance of a positioning system composed of a piezoelectric actuator-driven flexure guide depends largely on the preload applied on the flexure guide and the driving input amplitude. We used a flexure guided system that had an original resonant frequency of 54Hz. Our experiment showed that we could increase the driving bandwidth above the original resonant frequency, for a case involving a large preload and a small input amplitude. Results show that there is a specific 'separation frequency' where the response of the moving mass of the flexure system decouples from the response oi the piezoelectric actuator, and this specific separation frequency can be selected by a proper choice of the preload and the input amplitude. To find the separation frequency, sine sweep tests were performed. To confirm the increased system bandwidth frequency, open-loop sine tracking experiments were performed. Test results show that the system responds very well up to 130 Hz frequency higher than the original natural frequency (54Hz).

This paper presents the study on multi-beam large aperture antenna systems for a satellite payload. Multi-beam large antenna provides the universal communication and broadcasting services to personal portable terminals. The hybrid antenna composed of a large reflector and a feed array forms multi-beams. The feed cluster consists of a group of feed elements and each element should be optimized for the appropriate amplitude and phase. The optimization progress for amplitude and phase was performed by GO (Geometrical Optics) and PO (Physical Optics) method. The number of feed elements as well as the power level per element were also optimized to meet the required EIRP (Effective Isotropically Radiated Power). In conclusion, 30m-class reflector and twenty five elements for fifteen beams over Korean Peninsula were designed through the optimization process.

The motion of a system composed of a plate, constant springs and varying dampers is considered when the system is subject to harmonic force. Letting the frequencies of harmonic force and damper variation ${\Large f}_1\;and\;{\Large f}_2$ respectively, the displacement at the center of the plate has the strongest component at frequency ${\Large f}_1$. The angular displacement of the plate has strong components at ${\Large f}_1-{\Large f}_2$ and the natural frequency of the rotational mode of the system. If these two frequencies coincide, the plate oscillates with almost single frequency and a large amplitude. Part of these simulation results are proved analytically.

Understanding the nonlinear flow caused by orographic effects can be valuable in siting of new businesses, industries, and transportation facilities. In spite of recent work on large-amplitude waves and wave breaking, the studies of flow around large scale mountains have just begun. The generative mechanism of lee vortices in the lee of large scale mountain is investigated by Ertel's theorem. The CSU RAMS is used as a numerical model. According to the numerical results, the isentropes are depressed behind the large scale mountains. This means the vortex lines must run upward and downward along the depression surface because vortex lines adhere to isentropic surfaces. Therefore, the vertically oriented vorticity can be formed in the lee of the large scale mountain. This vorticity plays an important role for orographic precipitation, because strong vertical velocity and cloud bands are developed along isothermal deformation surface.

The present study investigated flow dynamics of a two-dimensional abdominal aortic bifurcation model under sinusoidal flow conditions considering wall motion. impedance phase angle(time delay between pressure and flow waveforms), and non-Newtonian fluid using computational fluid dynamics. The wall shear stress showed large variations in the bifurcated region and the wall motion reduced amplitude of wall shear stress significantly. As the impedance phase angle was changed to more negative values, the mean wall shear stress (time-averaged) decreased while the amplitude (oscillatory) of wall shear stress increased. At the curvature site on the outer wall where the mean wall shear stress approached zero. influence of the phase angle was relatively large. The mean wall shear stress decreased by $50\%$ in the $-90^{\circ}$ phase angle (flow wave advanced pressure wave by a quarter period) compared to the $0^{\circ}$ phase angle while the amplitude of wall shear stress increased by $15\%$. Therefore, hypertensive patients who tend to have large negative phase angles become more vulnerable to atherosclerosis according to the low and oscillatory shear stress theory because of the reduced mean and the increased oscillatory wall shear stresses. Non-Newtonian characteristics of fluid substantially increased the mean wall shear stress resulting in a less vulnerable state to atherosclerosis.
Vibration characteristics of harmonic drives and cyclo drives are reviewed. Both of two have two resonance frequencies inherently. Especially, the amplitudes of cyclo drives are over 1.0g. The test of the robot also shows large amplitude of vibration in the speed which is coincide with the resonance frequencies of reducers.
