  • Rice bran (RB), a by-product obtained during polishing of un-milled rice, contains a large quantity of essential nutrients such as minerals, vitamins, fiber, amino acids, and antioxidants. In this study, the anti-obesity effects of stabilized RB addition as a food material in a diet-induced obese animal model were investigated. For the analysis, a total of 32 mice were randomly divided into four groups: normal diet group (ND, n=8), high-fat diet group (HFD, n=8), 20% RB added high fat diet group (HFRB20, n=8), and 40% RB added high fat diet group (HFRB40, n=8). The animals were sacrificed after 7 weeks. Body weight gain, various adipose tissue weights, blood glucose concentration, and serum leptin level of the HFRB40 group were found to be significantly lower than those of the HFD group. Moreover, antioxidant enzyme activity of the HFRB40 group was significantly higher than that of the HFD group. However, the HFRB20 group did not show significantly different values. The results of this study show that RB (40%) addition reduces body weight gain and improves obesity-related parameters. These results suggest RB could be considered as a functional additive material for the manufacture of anti-obesity products, and 40% RB addition would be the physiologically effective level.

  • Purpose: Evaluating the clinicopathologic characteristics of recurred gastric cancer is essential for early detection of the recurrence and for better clinical outcome. The aim of this study was to establish the patterns of the recurrence, the timing of the recurrence, and the clinical result after recurrence according to the clinicopathologic characteristics of gastric cancer. Materials and Methods: From June 1992 to December 2005, of the 1338 gastric cancer patients who underwent a curative gastric resection, 241 patients who recurred during the follow-up period were selected and their cases were analyzed. The clinicopathologic characteristics of the patients, the time to recurrence after operation and survival were determined retrospectively according to the type of recurrence. Results: For the recurrent group, the numbers of total gastrectomies, advanced stages, lymphatic and/or venous infiltrations, whole stomach cancer cases, large tumors, undifferentiated tumors, and Borrmann type 4 tumors were higher than they were for the non-recurrent group, and the differences were statistically significant. When the recurrence types were classified as peritoneal seeding, hematogenous recurrence, and locoregional recurrence, independent risk factors were female gender, stage III, upper third, and whlole stomach cancer, and undifferentiated- type, diffuse-type, and Borrmann type 4 tumors for peritoneal seeding; early gastric cancer, stage I for hematogenous recurrence; and Borrmann type 1, 2, and 3 tumors for locoregional recurrence. Survival duration after detection of the recurrence was shorter for peritoneal seeding than for hematogenous or locoregional recurrence (7.0 months vs. 9.5 months and 12.5 months). Conclusion: For early detection of the recurrence after curative surgery for gastric cancer, it is important to recognize that the high risk factors for recurrence vary with the clinicopathologic data for the patients.

  • Understanding market convergence has became essential for small and mid-size enterprises. Identifying convergence items among heterogeneous markets could lead to product innovation and successful market introduction. Previous researches have two limitations. First, traditional researches focusing on patent databases are suitable for detecting technology convergence, however, they have failed to recognize market demands. Second, most researches concentrate on identifying the relationship between existing products or technology. This study presents a platform to identify the opportunity of market convergence by using product databases from a global B2B marketplace. We also attempt to identify convergence opportunity in different industries by applying Structural Hole theory. This paper shows the mechanisms for market convergence: attributes extraction of products and services using text mining and association analysis among attributes, and network analysis based on structural hole. In order to discover market demand, we analyzed 240,002 e-catalog from January 2013 to July 2016.

  • The development of computer technology and the advancement of the technology of information and communications spread the technology of multimedia and increased the use of multimedia data with large capacity. Users can grasp the overall video data and they are able to play wanted video back. To grasp the overall video data it is necessary to offer the list of summarized video data information. In order to search video efficiently an index process of video data is essential and it is also indispensable skill. Therefore, this thesis suggested the effective method about the cut detection of frames which will become a basis of an index based on contents of video image data. This suggested method was detected as the unchanging pixel rotor intelligence value, classified into diagonal direction. Pixel value of color detected in each frame of video data is stored as A(i, i) matrix - i is the number of frames, i is an image height of frame. By using the stored pixel value as the method of UE(Mean Square Error) I calculated a specified value difference between frames and detected cut quickly and exactly in case it is bigger than threshold value set in advance. To carry out an experiment on the cut detection of lames comprehensively, 1 experimented on many kinds of video, analyzing and comparing efficiency of the cut detection system.

  • Generally, the development of shipping is characterized by the amount of traffic flow (traffic volume) and seaborne cargo in the sea. Movement of ships is an essential element of constructing the traffic flow which is represented the dynamic movement of ships in the sea, but on the other band the numbers of arriving and departing the port is the basic factor consisting of the static movement of ships. The amount of cargoes by coastal vessels and ocean trade vessels have increased tremendously with the great growth of the Korean economy these days. This increase of the seaborne cargoes has made the Korean coastal traffic flow so congested that this can be a cause of large pollution as well as great marine casualities such as a loss of human lives and properties . And also the future coastal traffic is expected to increase considerably according to our economic development and high dependence upon foreign trade. Under the circumstance, to devise the safety of coastal traffic flow and to take a proper step of a efficient navigation, there is a necessity for analyzing and surveying the coastal traffic trend and the characteristics of cargo movement. In order to grasp the dynamic movement of ships in the Korean coast, O/D analysis is executed. This paper aims to secure the basic data necessary for a comprehensive plan and estimation of vessel traffic management system for the enhancement of safety, order and efficiency of vessel traffic in the Korean coast. The analyzed results of the traffic flow and seaborne cargoes of the Korean coast are summarized as follows : 1) The congestion by the vessels occurred around the ports such as-in proportion of ship's number (proportion of tonnage) -Incheon 18.5%(14.8%), Pohang 5.9% (9.9%), Samil 5.2%(8.3%), Mokpo 8.6%(0.8%), Pusan 13.5%(36.4%), Ulsan 9.1%(16.2%). 2) It is found that the area adjacent to Incheon, Pusan, Ulsan, Channel of Hanryu and South-western area are heavily congested. 3) It is confirmed thatthe area adjacent to Incheon, Pusan, Ulsan, Channel of Hanryu and South-western area are heavily congested. 3) It is confirmed that the coastal vessels are main elements constituting the coastal traffic and that there are much traffic flow among five ports as following through the precise O/D analysis of ship's coastal movement. Incheon-Samil, Ulsan, Pusan, Jeju Pusan -Samil, Ulsan, Incheon, Jeju Pohang -Samil, Inchoen, Jeju Pohang -Samil, Incheon, Jeju Ulsan -Samil, Incheon, Jeju Samil -Ulsan, Pusan, Incheon 4) The amount of cargoes to abroad are in proportion about 81% of total and the amount of coastal cargoes are about 19%. Of those, cargoes in and out to Japan are about 26% and to South-east Asia are about 27%. 5) The chief items of foreign cargoes are oil(38.33%), iron ore(13.98%), bituminoous coal(12.74%), grain(8.02%), lumber(6.45%) in the import cargoes and steel material(21.96%), cement(17.16%), oil(6.81%), fertilizer(3.80%) in the export cargoes. 6) The 80.5% of total export cargoes and 92.4% of total import cargoes are flowed in five main ports. 7) The chief items of coastal cargoes are oil (42.45%), cement(16.86%), steel material (6.49%), anthracite(6.31%), mineral product(4.3%), grain, and fertilizer. • Recently top-k query processing has been extremely important along with the explosion of data produced by a variety of applications. Top-k queries return the best k results ordered by a user-provided monotone scoring function. As cloud computing service has been getting more popular than ever, a hot attention has been paid to cloud-based data outsourcing in which clients' data are stored and managed by the cloud. The cloud-based data outsourcing, though, exposes a critical secuity concern of sensitive data, resulting in the misuse of unauthorized users. Hence it is essential to encrypt sensitive data before outsourcing the data to the cloud. However, there has been little attention to efficient top-k processing on the encrypted cloud data. In this paper we propose a novel top-k processing algorithm that can efficiently process a large amount of encrypted data in the cloud. The main idea of the algorithm is to prune unpromising intermediate results at the early phase without decrypting the encrypted data by leveraging an order-preserving encrypted technique. Experiment results show that the proposed top-k processing algorithm significantly reduces the overhead of client systems from 10X to 10000X.

  • An approximation of speed of sound in the measurement plane is essential for the inverse estimation of temperature. To this end, an inverse problem relating the measured retarded time data in between set of sensors and actuators array located on the wall is formulated. The involved transfer matrix and its coefficient vectors approximate speed of sound of the measurement plane by using the radial basis function with finite number of interpolation points deployed inside the target field. Then, the temperature field can be reconstructed by using spatial interpolation technique, which can achieve high spatial resolution with proper number of interpolation points. A large number of retarded time data of acoustic paths in between sensors and arrays are needed to obtain accurate reconstruction result. However, the shortage of interpolation points due to practical limitations can cause the decrease of spatial resolution and deterioration of the reconstruction result. In this works, a regeneration for obtaining the additional retarded time data for an arbitrary acoustic path is suggested to overcome the shortage of interpolation points. By applying the regeneration technique, many interpolation points can be deployed inside the field by increasing the number of retarded time data. As a simulation example, two rectangular duct sections having arbitrary temperature distribution are reconstructed by two different data set: measured data only, combination of measured and regenerated data. The result shows a decrease in reconstruction error by 15 % by combining the original and regenerated retarded time data.

  • In dental esthetics, soft tissue plays an important part, probably very large portion of it. A clear understanding of the periodontal tissues and its management around teeth and implants help us to develop concepts for a modern dental treatment that addresses the needs of demanding patients in regard of esthetics and durability. When we talk about esthetic, we can say that one of the most important element is a harmonization with gingiva (soft tissue) called 'Pink Esthetic' As for the pink esthetics, gingival line(contour) takes most of the influence on esthetic result; it consists of labial gingival level, interproximal papilla height, and a line that connects them. In the gingival recession, labial gingival level and gingival contour move to the apical portion, and the root area is exposed. It leads to the unesthetic result. Root coverage technique is classically used to treat gingival recession (marginal tissue recession) of natural teeth. It is an essential technique on periodontal plastic surgery part. It is also a very useful technique to recover soft tissue problems in implant dentistry. So, root coverage technique must be mastered for a good implant esthetic result. The general overview of root coverage procedures will be discussed with step by step explanation to get more esthetic result.

  • Our nation is confronted with the situation that the rice, a principal food, short of some essential amino acids, leads to imbalanced meals insufficient in the nutrient of Protein, to bring many difficulties in the elevation of nutritional state in our nation. While. our country has been produced much amounts of Panax Ginseng roots which has a stimulating effects on the metabolism of protein, lipid and nucleic acids in the body. And the leaf and trunk of Panax Ginseng were also produced a considerable amounts as the by-products. Author believe that these by-products (leaf and trunk) of Panax Ginseng might have some components possessing simillar activity with Panax Ginseng root although the quantity and qualify of the functional components may more or less be different. Therefore, this study was demised to observe the supplemental effect of the Panax Ginseng-by-Products on the dietary protein efficiency and nutritional state of rats. The feeds used for this experiment were rice containing 30% barely, fish four, and the leaf, trunk and small root of the Panax Ginseng, and the contents of the general nutrients including protein, lipid and carbohydrate etc. in each feed were analyzed for the combination of each feed. And, being based on analytical values of Protein in food. fish Pour as Protein source was added were rice containing 30% barely to be include 8.6 to 8.7%, 12%, 15% and 18% of protein. Then 2% of the leaf, trunk or small reef of Panax Ginseng was supplemented into each of above protein diet group, ton 16 kinds of diets were Prepared. The male albino rats from a Pure strain, weighing 70g to 80g. were used for experimental animals. They were maintained with coresponding fist for f and 8 weeks, and the growth rate, consumption of diets and protein, efficiency of feed and Protein in animals were determined. The lipids, proteins and cholesterols in serum and liver were also determined quantitatively after they were sacrificed in coresponding term. The results obtained are summarized as follows: 1. Body weigh of diet group containing 8.6 to 8.7%,12%, and 15% of protein are increased remarkably by supplement of 2% of the leaf or small root of Panax Ginseng in comparison with each of controls. But this tendency could not observed in diet group containing 18eA Proteins. 2. Feed efficiency showed same tendency in comparison with changes of gained body weight. Specially, in each of diets containing 8.7%, 12%, 15% and 18% of Proteins, supplement of the leaf of Panax Ginseng showed the better feed efficiency than supplement of the trunk or small root. 3. In feeding group for 8 weeks, protein efficiency showed worst efficiency in diet containing 18% proteins and showed the best efficiency was the diet group containing 12% Proteins. And the efficiency was improved according to supplement of the leaf of Panax Ginseng. 4. Nitrogen contents in serum and liver did not show large differences each other in all diet groups. But contexts of total cholesterol and 1ipid were decreased markedly in diet groups containing 12%, 15% and 18% of proteins in comparison with diet group containing 8.6% to 8.8% of proteins.

  • The Drosophila transmembrane semaphorin Sema-1a mediates forward and reverse signaling that plays an essential role in motor and central nervous system (CNS) axon pathfinding during embryonic neural development. Previous immunohistochemical analysis revealed that Sema-1a is expressed on most commissural and longitudinal axons in the CNS and five motor nerve branches in the peripheral nervous system (PNS). However, Sema-1a-mediated axon guidance function contributes significantly to both intersegmental nerve b (ISNb) and segmental nerve a (SNa), and slightly to ISNd and SNc, but not to ISN motor axon pathfinding. Here, we uncover three cis-regulatory elements (CREs), R34A03, R32H10, and R33F06, that robustly drove reporter expression in a large subset of neurons in the CNS. In the transgenic lines R34A03 and R32H10 reporter expression was consistently observed on both ISNb and SNa nerve branches, whereas in the line R33F06 reporter expression was irregularly detected on ISNb or SNa nerve branches in small subsets of abdominal hemisegments. Through complementation test with a Sema-1a loss-of-function allele, we found that neuronal expression of Sema-1a driven by each of R34A03 and R32H10 restores robustly the CNS and PNS motor axon guidance defects observed in Sema-1a homozygous mutants. However, when wild-type Sema-1a is expressed by R33F06 in Sema-1a mutants, the Sema-1a PNS axon guidance phenotypes are partially rescued while the Sema-1a CNS axon guidance defects are completely rescued. These results suggest that in a redundant manner, the CREs, R34A03, R32H10, and R33F06 govern the Sema-1a expression required for the axon guidance function of Sema-1a during embryonic neural development.
