  • Experimental results on lap splice performance of high performance fiber reinforced cementitious composite(HPFRCC) with fiber types under repeated loading are reported. Fiber types were polypropylene(PP), polyethylene(PE) and hybrid fiber[polyethylene fiber+steel cord(PE+SC)]. The development length($l_d$) was calculated according to the relevant ACI code requirements for reinforcing bars in concrete. The current experimental results demonstrated clearly that the use of fibers in cementitious matrixes increases significantly the splice strength of reinforcing bars in tension. Also, the presence of fibers increased the number of cracks formed around the spliced bars.

  • This paper presents experimental studies on investigating the seismic retrofit performance of reinforced concrete circular columns with poor lap-splice details using GFRP wrapping. Four 1/2 scale-down model columns have been tested. The as-built column is expected to suffer brittle failure due to the bond failure of lap-spliced longitudinal reinforcement. The retrofitted columns using GFRP wrapping showed significant improvement of seismic performance.

  • The object of this research is to evaluate the seismic performance of existing circular reinforced concrete bridge piers by the Quasi-static test. Existing reinforced concrete bridge piers, which were non-seismical]y designed in accordance with the conventional provisions of Korea Highway Design Specification, are needed to rating evaluate seismic performance fur probable earthquake motions in future by developing a seismic analysis computer program with estimation algorithm. This study has been performed to verify the effect of lap spliced longitudinal steel, confinement steel type and confinement steel ratio for the seismic behavior of reinforced concrete bridge piers. Quasi-static test has been done to investigate the physical seismic performance of RC bridge piers, such as displacement ductility, energy absorption, strength degradation etc.

  • In this study, new moment-resisting precast concrete beam-column joint is proposed for moderate seismic regions. It has the connection reinforcing bars, penetrated the joint and lap-spliced with the bottom bars of precast U-beam. To evaluate the performance for noncontact lapped splice, analytical works were conducted. Major variables for FEM analysis are the length of lap, the diameter of connection reinforcing bars, and the distance between lapped bars. The results of this study show thar the these variables has much influence on strength and deformation of lapped joint.

  • The objective of this research is to evaluate of seismic performance for reinforced concrete bridge piers with lap splices of longitudinal reinforcement steels using predict of nonlinear hysteric behavior. For the purpose, analytical trilinear hysteretic model has been used to simulate the force displacement hysteretic curve of RC bridge piers under repeated reversal loads. The moment capacity and corresponding curvature in the plastic hinge have been determined, and the enhanced hysteretic behavior model by five different kinds of branches has been proposed for modeling the stiffness variation of RC section under cyclic loading. The strength and stiffness degradation index are introduced to compute the hysteretic curve vary confinement steel ratio. In addition, the modified curvature factor has been introduced to forecast of seismic performance of longitudinal steel lap spliced and retrofitted specimens.

  • The existing solid circular RC pier without seismic detailing is found to have poor ductility due to the premature bond failure of lap spliced longitudinal bars. The steel-jacket was introduced to prevent this unexpected type of failure. The nonlinear behavior and he seismic performance of the retrofitted pier were examined through the scale model test and compared with those of existing one. It is confirmed from the test results that the steel-jacket retrofitting can be used as an measure to improve seismic performance considerably.

  • In this paper the effect of tie wire in lap spliced bars is investigated by experiment. The variables considered in the beam behaviors are beam dimension, lapped splice length and numbers of tie wire. 3 test pieces having the same variables consist one series and a total of 6 series ar tested. The test results show the beam behavior is not affected by numbers of tie wire but by the manner of tie. It was revealed hat the load bearing capacity of the beam is increased when the tie wire is extended to top bar.

  • Lap splice in plastic hinge region is inevitable because of due to constructional joint between footing and column. R/C Circular columns with lap-splice in plastic hinge region are widely used in Korean highway bridges. In addition, these columns which constructed before the seismic design code have a number of structural deficiencies. It is, however, believed that there are not many experimental research works for nonlinear behavior of these columns subjected to earthquake motions. The object of this research is to evaluate the seismic performance of existing circular reinforced concrete bridge piers by the Quasi-static test. Existing reinforced concrete bridge piers were moderate seismically designed in accordance with the conventional provisions of Korea Highway Design Specification. This study has been performed to verify the effect of lap spliced longitudinal steel, confinement steel type and confinement steel ratio far the seismic behavior of reinforced concrete bridge piers. 기존 원형교각의 내진성능 향상을 위한 FRP 보강에 대한 이론적 연구 (A Theoretical Study on the FRP Retrofit of Existing Circular Bridge Piers for Seismic Performance Enhancement)

  • 신설교량의 경우 최근 개정된 도로교설계기준에 의해 내진설계를 수행하여 시공되었으나, 내진설계규정이 적용되기 이전에 시공되어 사용중에 있는 철근콘크리트 교각의 경우에는 지진에 의한 횡하중에 대해 취약할 수 있다. 특히 형상비가 큰 기존 교각에서는 기초와 교각 접합부에 주철근 겹침이음이 존재하므로 지진이 발생할 경우 피복콘크리트 파손에 따른 부착파괴 형태의 급격한 취성파괴 거동을 나타낸다. 이러한 부착파괴가 일어나는 소성힌지 구간에 FRP 적층 원통관으로 보강하여 부착강도를 크게 함으로써 횡하중에 대한 급격한 파괴를 예방할 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 FRP 적층 원통관으로 보강된 원형교각에서 FRP 적층 원통관이 주는 구속효과를 효과적으로 산정하기 위한 이론식을 유도하여 제안하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 FRP 적층 원통관이 철근콘크리트 원형교각에 발생시키는 구속응력을 이론적으로 유도하여 제안하였으며, 제안된 식의 타당성을 검증하기 위해 기존의 타 연구에서 수행한 실험결과와 비교, 검토하였다. 또한 다양한 FRP 적층조건에 따른 구속응력의 변화를 고찰하기 위한 매개변수 연구를 수행하였다. 이와 같은 연구를 통해 본 연구에서 제안하는 식이 FRP 적층 원통관을 이용하여 보강한 기존 원형교각의 거동을 잘 예측할 수 있음을 확인하였으며, 적층수, 섬유배향각, 섬유방향의 탄성계수가 FRP 적층 원통관에 의한 내진보강효과에 가장 지배적인 매개인자임을 알 수가 있었다.

고경질 도막을 이용한 PET 필름 접합공법의 필름 표면처리 방법에 따른 접합특성 연구 (A Study on the Joint Property by the Surface Treatment Method on the Jointing Method of PET Film using the High Hardness Liquid)

  • 본 연구에서는 고경질 도막재로 PET 필름을 접합하는 시공방법에 있어서 PET 필름의 표면처리 조건 및 겹침이음 길이에 따른 접합특성 및 내구특성을 검토하였는데, 그 결과 무처리 보다 코로나 방전 처리에 의해 접촉각, 접합 인장강도, 벗김저항성이 개선되었다. 특히 시험체 E (코로나 방전+프라이머+강접접착제+폴리에스터 부직포)에서 가장 높은 것으로 나타났으며, 특히 겹침 이음길이 15mm 이상일 때 16주간 장기간 열화처리에도 안정적인 접합성능을 확보하는 것으로 나타나 방수재료로서 수밀성을 확보할 것으로 판단된다.
