  • The need for literal education, matching the rapid changes in the media has been increasing in recent years. However, it is true that not enough research has been done on the efficiency of literacy compared to the increasing need. For example, empirical approaches such as studies on the effects of integrated media literacy on youth learning. Thus, this paper took multimedia education, which is different from existing image education, as a subject of research and studied the results of education that fused text and video and sound to teenagers in terms of learning effectiveness. It is an academic quest to see if multimedia education really has positive ㄷ effect for teenagers' learning. As a result of both quantitative and qualitative research as a method of research, multimedia education was concluded to be meaningful in improving learning ability, and based on this, it presented a practical-oriented learner participation education while expanding appearance such as language education through multimedia education. The suggestions for these various education policies will spread to the confidence that multimedia education can be the center of all learning activities as the core of education that achieves an all-round personality, not just an aid to existing education.

  • Although programming language is a core education area of software that is becoming increasingly important in the age of the fourth industrial revolution, as it requires logical thinking skills, it is recognized as a difficult subject even for SW major students. This difficulty occasionally causes SW major students to lose interest and confidence in their major during the introductory course of a programming language; making them change their majors, or give up their studies. In this study, we designed an instructional model using Scratch for educating C language which is a typical programming introductory language. To do this, we analyzed the concepts that can be trained by Scratch among the programming concepts supported by C language, and developed the examples of Scratch for exercising the concepts. The instructional model supports the progress model of learning first the programming concepts through Scratch and then expand the learning content into C language. We also conducted an experiment on the SW major freshman students of a local private university to verify the effectiveness of the model.

  • Formulaic sequences are continuous or discontinuous series of words that are seemingly treated like single units. Formulaic sequences play a key role in language development, and formulaic sequences acquisition determines the success or failure of language development. This study proposes a reading aloud activity as a way for international students to learn formulaic sequences. A class focused on reading aloud was conducted with 41 international students taking a general English course at a university in Seoul. For 15 weeks, video lectures and real-time Zoom classes were conducted in parallel. The animated film Frozen was used as course material. In the video lectures, the teacher interpreted the movie script in easy Korean and read aloud formulaic sequences. Students were tasked with reading the sentences with formulaic sequences aloud, recording themselves reading aloud, and submitting their recordings. During real-time class meetings, students performed the activity of reading aloud the formulaic sequences they had studied in the video lectures. There was a significant increase in the interpretation and sentence writing of formulaic sequences in participants' post-evaluation compared to the pre-evaluation. Through the study's survey, students exhibited positive views in the affective domains.

  • Purpose: This study is an overview of the experiences of nurses who have participated in a communication education program which was designed to develop proper change-of-shift dialogues. The goal of this program was to improve the communication competencies of outgoing and incoming nurses during handover and takeover of their shifts. Methods: The materials used in this study to analyze the experiences qualitatively were transcripts from narrative interviews with seven nurse participants. The education program consisted of two rounds of change-of-shift simulations by pairs of nurses, planning of a forthcoming change-of-shift, three lectures on ideal dialogue patterns, and time for video feedback. Afterwards the participants' experiences of the program were evaluated generally, highlighting the positive and the negative aspects, and how this educational experiences might affect their future change-of-shift activities. Results: High practicability, originality, professionalism, and effectiveness were some of the positive assessments made by the nurse participants. In addition, they pointed out that the sample video in which two professors performed an ideal handover and takeover and the paper kardex were both quite unrealistic. The location of the change-of-shift simulation was also unfamiliar so it needed to be supplemented. However, most of the nurses took for granted that such a communication education program is necessary and that it will provide a substantial help in their future job performance. In this regard they recommended the program to all related hospitals and nursing schools. Conclusion: The results of this study could be applied to other forms of communication education programs regardless of the specific area where communication takes place.

  • This longitudinal study analyzed syntactic development (Complexity, Accuracy, and Fluency; CAF) of six L2 Korean learners in a natural learning context. The learners recalled the stories of a short animated video through speaking and writing every 3 months, from month 0 to 15. The learners' responses were analyzed for a series of CAF measures and their cognitive, psychological, and social variables were investigated. The results showed that (i) L2 Korean learners' speaking and writing in various time periods showed significant differences in spoken and written accuracy, and complexity; (ii) the correlation between spoken and written complexity, spoken and written accuracy, as well as spoken and written fluency were significant, and (iii) the regression analysis showed that learners' cognitive, social, and psychological variables have significant effect on the L2 Korean syntactic development. The current study reports that L2 Korean learners engaged in self-learning in a natural learning environment without formal instruction made significant syntactic development.

  • This study finds methods to activate culinary education by surveying the level of recognition for culinary practice from the culinary teachers of vocational high schools. The number of individuals surveyed is 103. Data is verified by using SPSS 14.0 (SPSS Inc, Chicago, USA). The results of the survey on recognition for culinary education showed that learning requirements are very high as well as that theoretical education and trial demonstrations are necessary to enhance the effects of culinary practice education. Desired teaching learning materials were cooking materials by a certified technician. Their desired supplementary data for enhancing practical techniques were practical demonstrations, various materials and language instruction to learn other culinary practices. It is reported that there was increasing work other than learning time and complication for preparing practice. In addition, they desire more websites for cooking need to be built. Plans for activating culinary education are as follow: First, how to enhance the professional abilities of culinary teachers. Second, to show the necessity of theoretical education, video-based education, and culinary practice demonstrations. Third, to show the necessity to increase the ratio for culinary practice classes. Fourth, to display various teaching and learning materials. Fifth, to enhance websites for culinary data. Sixth, to provide opportunities to augment a sense of achievement.

  • The purpose of this study was to describe and understand the characteristics of morphological, contextual as relational aggression among 4-year old children during free play periods. The ethnographic methods included participants observation of children's play interaction behaviors, field notes, video taping and analysis of transcribed date. The results are as exclusion occurred by group power taking the relational attribute, including direct language, while the other would not be revealed easily other than being in line with real relation. Also as follows; proactive relational aggression was more frequently observed in girls, and their major strategies employed against someone they disliked were ignoring them, distorting play-rules, and so on. Major strategies of reactive relational aggression in girls were largely manipulative in nature, for example, 'threatrning their friend' and 'withdrawal of friendship'.

  • The purpose of this study was to improve teachers' instruction and to identify the characteristics of interaction between teachers and children. Field excellent class instructions, which were known as the best lectures from the competition of an instruction contest in Busan, were video recorded and openly released on the internet. A teacher who won a prize for his excellent teaching at the contest demonstrated a Korean subject class on sixth grade elementary school curriculum. His instruction was analyzed by two coders based on the frame of Flanders' language interaction system. Inter-coder reliability was .967 from Scott's coefficient. From the results of the Flanders index, the major and minor instruction sequences were 4-8-2-5 and 6-0-5-4, and the teacher tended to interact with students by accepting feeling and ideas. These results could provide effective cues and information on how to to improve instruction.

  • For an e-learning class, many voice and video technics for enhancing student teacher interaction. But for programming exercise courses, it's very difficult to add interactive components via web browser. In this paper, we make an online algorithm bank to manage and search algorithms, build an programming exercise interface on web. Students can edit, compile and execute programs included in online algorithm bank. Online program compile and execution enhance e-learning effectiveness for programming courses, and make students feel ease for computer algorithms.
