An airborne radar is an essential aviation electronic system of the aircraft to perform various missions in all weather environments. This paper presents the design, development, and test results of the multi-mode pulsed Doppler radar system test model for helicopter-borne flight test. This radar system consists of 4 LRU units, which include ANTU(Antenna Unit), TRU(Tx Rx Unit), RSDU(Radar Signal & Data Processing Unit) and DISU(Display Unit). The developed technologies include the TACCAR processor, planar array antenna, TWTA transmitter, coherent I/Q detector, digital pulse compression, DSP based Doppler FFT filtering, adaptive CFAR, IMU, and tracking capability. The design performance of the developed radar system is verified through various helicopter-borne field tests including MTD (Moving Target Detector) capability for the Doppler compensation due to the moving platform motion.
Elevator stops emergently when power failures happen during operation. In that case, the passenger should wait with frightened in the car untill they are rescued by repair man or power resumes. This paper describes an automatic landing device for power-failure(ALP) that consists of UPS and battery charge control system. The excellence of the ALP operation is verified by experiments in elevator test tower.
In order to clarify the durability of protective coatings for maritime steel structures, various anti-corrosive organic coated steel samples were exposed for twelve years in semitropical marine environment at Miyakojima Island, Okinawa, JAPAN. Samples were various organic coated steel pipes, 4.0 m in length and 150 mm in diameter. While the bare steel pipe entirely corroded in 4.5 mm thickness in four and half years, these organic coated steel pipes exhibited protective appearances after twelve-year-exposure except for the defect in the coatings. Polyethylene (PE) lining pipe exhibited a good protective performance. Urethane painted pipe was also good but some barnacles stuck to its surface. A combination of petrolatum tape and FRP cover showed sufficient corrosion resistance for steel surface. The correlation in results between exposure and laboratory acceleration test was examined. It was found that salt spray test (SST) results corresponded to rusted area of scratched portion and that adhesion change of coating layer corresponded to the rotating immersion test result. Among the on-site measured data, volume resistivity is utilized for the index of corrosion protection performance of organic coating.
An airborne radar performance can be sensitive to the variation of the Doppler center frequency and the spectral spread of the ground clutter return due to the radar platform moving and aspect angle of the scanning beam to the target. In this paper, for the performance test of the airborne pulsed Doppler radar system developed, the high-speed radar data acquisition system is implemented for acquiring the raw radar signal in real-time. Based on the various test scenarios from airborne-platform to the moving platform, the various radar target and clutter signals are collected and their spectrum is analyzed for the verification of the radar performance in the real-time flight test environments.

When some enormous earthquake hazards broke out in the neighboring Japan and Taiwan, many Korean earthquake engineers thought that seismic guidelines must be adjusted safely and economically to consider the moderate earthquake characteristics. In the present aseismic guideline for liquefaction potential assessment, a simplified method using SPT-N value and a detail method based on the dynamic lab-tests were introduced. However, it is said that these methods based on the equivalent stress concept to simplify an irregular earthquake are not reliable to simulate the kaleidoscopical characteristics of earthquake loading correctly. Especially, even though various data from the dynamic lab-test can be obtained, only two data, a maximum cyclic load and a number of cycle at an initial liquefaction are used to determine the soil resistance strength in the detailed method. In this study, a new assessment of liquefaction potential is proposed and verified. In the proposed assessment, various data from dynamic lab-tests are used to determine the unique soil resistance characteristic and a site specific analysis is introduced to analyze the irregular earthquake time history itself. Also, it is found that the proposed assessment is reasonable because it is devised to reflect the changeable soil behavior under dynamic loadings resulted from the generation and development of excess pore water pressure.
It is very important to protect life, property at sea from any fire. Recommendation on improved fire test procedures for surface flammability of bulkhead ceiling and deck finish materials specifies a procedure for measuring fire characterizing their flammability and thus their suitability for use in marine construction. In this paper we investigated the positive expected by fire test procedures for flammability of bulkhead ceiling and deck finish materials. Also, unusual materials were analyzed. Finally, we suggest methods to solve several problems related to unusual materials.

This study aimed to investigate the flexural behavior of precast concrete (PC) wall - steel shoe composite assemblies with various dry connection details at mid-span. Flexural tests were performed for five scenarios. Test parameters included the width of test specimens, arrangement of steel shoe connectors, and use of structural adhesive or waterproof tape at the mid-span joint. The test results showed that the PC wall - steel shoe composite assemblies joined at mid-span showed flexural damage patterns combined with rotational deformation, and the structural performance was satisfactory regardless of the arrangement of steel shoe connectors. Considering the two deformation components (flexural deformation by bending and rotational deformation due to joint opening), a theoretical model was proposed to analyze flexural strength and joint opening, and the simple model gave good predictions with acceptable accuracy.
LAL (Limulus amebocyte lysate) test to detect and quantity endotoxin is based on gellation reaction between endotoxin and LAL from a blood extract of Limulus polyphemus. The test is labor intensive requiring dedicated personnel, takes relatively long reaction time (approximately 1 hr), requires relatively large volume of samples and reagents, and its end-point detection method is rather subjective. To solve these problems, we attempted to develop a miniaturized LOC (lab-on-a-chip) prototype using PDMS and glass. Using the 62 mm (length) ${\times}$ 18 mm (width) prototype in which 2 mm (width) ${\times}$ 44.34 mm (length) ${\times}$ 100 $\mu\textrm{m}$ (depth) microfluidic channel was provided, we compared the various detection methods of gellation, turbidometric, and chromogenic assays to find the chromogenic method to be the most suitable for small volume assay. In this assay, kinetic point method was more accurate than end point method. We also found the PDMS chip thickness should be minimized to around 2 mm to allow sufficient light transmittance, which necessitated a glass slide bonding for chip rigidity. Through the miniaturization, the test time was reduced from 1 hr to less than 10 minutes, and the sample volume could be reduced from 100 ${\mu}\ell$ to 4.4 ${\mu}\ell$. In sum, this study revealed that the mini LOC could be an alternative for a semi-automated and reliable method for LAL test.
Automatic test equipment for field maintenance of aircraft mounted equipment is effective for integrated design when operating a small number of aircraft for special purposes. The integrated automatic test equipment identifies commonly used interfaces and is used for branching or generating routes for each unit under test specific inspection. High-precision signals such as RTD, TC, and analog voltage can cause measurement errors due to conduction resistance during signal branching and connection when generating branches and paths. The measurement error caused by the resistance of the wire leads to a lot of restrictions in designing the equipment to be inspected. In this paper, we propose a method of calibrating highly accurate signals of an integrated automatic inspection equipment that minimizes measurement errors of analog voltage and high - precision signals.
This paper presents the final configuration of test field and test items for the application of IEC 60364-4-44 in Korea. IEC 60364-4-44 provides rules for the protection against the effects of conducted and radiated disturbances on electrical installations. Especially this standard deals with the protection of low voltage facility against the ground fault in the high voltage side of power distribution system. Many countries define the regulations on the use of electrical facilities based on their own power system and technical references which are considered to be suitable for them. The background of circuit of IEC 60364-4-44 is based on the ungrounded system as most of European countries. However, domestic electric power distribution system is based on multi-grounding system different from European system. Therefore, it is necessary to evaluate or prove the effect of the IEC 60364-4-44 for introducing and applying it to the domestic grounding system as a national standard. The authors with KEA(Korea Electric Association) carried out a project on the application of IEC 60364-4-44 to Korean electrical installations of buildings sponsored by Korean ministry of commerce, industry and energy for three years(2004.4.1$\sim$2007.3.31). The test field is established in K.E.R.I.(Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute), which is the purpose of evaluating the formula to calculate touch voltage and stress voltage in the IEC standards. This paper presents some considerations and final configuration of test field to evaluate and introduce the IEC 60364-4-44 applicable to domestic rule for the protection against ground fault.
