The paraelectric cubic-to-ferroelectric tetragonal phase transition of the thin Pb(Zr, Ti)$O_3$ (PZT) films grown on MgO(001) substrate was investigated in a series of synchrotron x-ray scattering experiments. As the thickness of the film decreases the transition temperature and the amount of the tetragonal distortion were decreased continuously Different from only the c-domains were existent in the thinnest 25nm thick film. Based on this we propose a model for the domain structure of the tetragonal PZT/MgO(100) film that is very different from the ones suggested in literature. We attribute the suppression of the transition to the substrate field that prefers the c-type domains near the interface and suppresses the tetragonal distortion to minimize the film-substrate lattice mismatch.

Jeha Ryu Department of Mechatronics, Kwangju Institute of Science and Technology This paper presents an application of a robust adaptive control strategy to HexaSlide type six degrees-of-freedom parallel manipulators. The HexaSlide type parallel manipulators are characterized as an architecture with constant link lengths that are attached to moving sliders on the ground and to a mobile platform. The proposed control law is developed based on a simplified second order system dynamic equation in joint space with uncertain mass, damper, spring, and Coulomb friction terms. These uncertain parameters are updated by an adaptation law that is derived by Lyapunov stability theorem. A robust adaptive control law by using the boundary layer is designed for the purpose of compensating for the neglected dynamic effects of the mobile platform and the six moving links that are modeled as a disturbance term. Experimental results show good and fast tracking performance.

Several aspects of conscious about somato-type were analysed for high school girls among Seoul, Kwangju, Wando. Questionnares was comprised of 24 item of the conscious about somatotype. Questionnaress were sent to sample of students of high school. The data from 593 respondantss were analysed in using Freequency, Crosstab, and T-test. The results were as follows: 1. High school students in Wando tend to have shorter and fatter than Seoul and Kwangju. 2. Respon-dents were conscioused of , , . 3. Of the trouble of somatotype, respondents of all region have troubled about , , , , It was founded that Respon-dents in Seoul have much the trouble about , than other regions. 4. Mean of Agreement of somatotype were scored 3.49 in Seoul 3.37 in Kwangju, 3.39 in Wando. It was founded that respondents in Seoul were not satisfied more than Kwangju, Wando. And then Respondents in Seoul have strong aspiration to be slim about somatotype although they are a stansard somatotype.

Under the prsence of the frequency and timing offset, we evaluate the BER performance of the FFH-MA system using noncoherent M-ary FSK modulation in the Rayleigh fading channel. The numerical resuts show that while the frequency and timing offset increases at a given SNR, the BER is severely degraded. The threshold level used in the envelope detector increases with the increase of the frequency and timing offset, and with the proper selection of the threshold level, the BER can be improved under the presence of such offsets.

The genetically-engineered Escherichia coli strain, DPD2540, which contains a fabA:::luxCDAbefusion gene, gives a bioluminescent output when membrane fatty acid synthesis is needed. For more pactical application of this strain in the filed as biosensor, freezedrying was adopted. A 12% surcrose solution with Luria-Bertani (LB) broth, as determined by the viability after freeze-drying, was found to be most most effective composition for lyophilization solution among various compositions testitons tested. Rapid freezing with liquid nitrogen also gave the best viability after freeze-drying as compared to samples frozen at-7$0^{\circ}C$ and -2$0^{\circ}C$. The biosensing activities of the cells showed a greater sensitivity when the cells from the expontial phase were freeze-dried. Finally, the optimum temperature for use of the freeze-dried cells in the biodencor field was determined.

The surface charge properties of a polymeric NF and a ceramic UF membranes were characterized in terms of zeta potential and acidity. Both the negative zeta potential and acidity values increased as pH increases due to ionizable acidic functional groups. Increased ionic strength reduced the acidity of the negatively-charged membrane surface as anticipated. Through these results, it can be envisioned are used to reject solutes with ionizable functional groups. Fouling of the negatively-charged membrane with natural organic matter (NOM) having a negative charge density was also investigated with respect to the surface charge. The surface charge of the NF membrane increased negatively when greater NOM adsorption onto the membrane surface occured.

A 67 year old male with postherpetic neuralgia complained of right anterior chest throbbing pain and also allodynia. We performed thoracic epidural block with 0.25% bupivacaine and 1% lidocaine. Oral carbamazepine and imipramine were also administred concomitantly. One month later, patient complained of fatigue, anorexia, pruritis, jaundice, and dark urine. Liver function test values were significantly elevated then. Therefore we removed the epidural catheter and ceased all medication. Liver function test values decreased rapidly after discontinuation of medication. Hepatitis might have developed as result of drugs administered and could have been prevented if the patient had been monitored with regular clinical laboratory follow up. The purpose of this case report is emphasize the importance of early regular laboratory test to detect any possible side effect that may occur by administration of drugs during treatment of chronic pain.
