This paper aims to empirically explore how the partnership between the two industries influences on the satisfaction of ship management companies. In addition, this paper intends to provide relevant information to enhance the competitiveness of ship repair companies by revealing the causalities of variations consisting of the partnership between ship management companies and ship repair companies. It revealed what characteristics are embedded in the partnership between ship management companies, and how the consisting factors of this partnership influences on satisfaction throughout prior factors. And this paper explored the variables that influence on the satisfaction of ship repair companies.

This study investigates the relationship between national controlling fleets and the managerial performance of ship management companies in Korea. As industries clearly show interrelations between upstream and downstream entities , it is likely that the managerial performance of ship management companies in Korea is affected by the size of national fleet. Therefore, the present study analyzes the impact of Korean fleet size on the growth and the profitability of ship management firms. To this end, the performances of 10 major ship management companies in the period from 2012-2022 are examined through panel data regressions. The results indicate that the size of the national fleet has a positive impact on growth in both the assets and the sales of ship management companies. Specifically, the size of the Korean-flagged fleet is the most crucial factor, while that of the foreign-flagged fleet has no significant effect. In stark contrast to the findings regarding growth, the size of national fleet is found to have no significant impact on the profitability of ship management companies. This study's findings are expected to provide valuable implications informing both the managerial decision-making of ship management companies as well as policy-making for shipping and its related industries.

The ship management industry in Korea is on the decrease since the latter half of 1980s. The ship management companies in Korea today has been confronted with a severe business crisis beacause of the pressure if rising coasts, marine environmental protection under the slowdown, to evade become a crew. This is a study on a revised bill of the related laws and regulations for revitalization of ship management companies.

The main function of most ship management companies in Korea has been crew manning for foreign shipowners i.e. limited management whereas those in Norway. U, K Hong Kong Singapore and etc. have been largely involved in full management which includes ship operation maintenance and repairs chartering financial administration accounting insurance etc not to mention crew manning The shortage of supply of seamen caused by deindustrialisation and increasing GNP tends to deteriorate the profitability of ship management companies in Korea. In these circumstances they may have to expand their present business to full management in order to continue to be going concerns, This paper evaluates the roles and performances of ship management companies in Korean shipping sector during the last three decades and suggests some ideas in order to develop them identifying major barriers against their development and analysing business activities of ship management companies in advanced maritime countries.

본 논문은 우리나라 최초로 선박관리산업의 시장규모를 추정하고 경영실태분석을 수행하여 환경변화에 대응하는 경영개선방안을 제시하였다. 최근 글로벌 해운선사들은 해운원가절감과 서비스의 제고를 위한 전문선박관리업체에 선박 선원관리 일체를 아웃소싱하는 추세이지만 우리나라 선박관리산업의 시장규모는 외항선사 매출규모의 3.75%에 지나지 않고 있어 시장규모 확대가 필요하다. 경영실태분석결과에 의하면, 우리나라 선박관리업체는 경영능력, 국제비지니스역량 및 마케팅 역량이 미흡하여 수익성이 매우 미흡한 편이다. 또한 규모의 영세성과 재무구조가 취약하여 전문적인 선박관리를 위해서는 국제화 및 대형화가 시급하다고 볼 수 있다. 이를 위해서는 정부는 선원의 노령화와 승선기피를 방지하기 위한 선원양성 및 지원정책과 더불어 금융지원과 세제지원이 필요한 것으로 사료되고 있다.

The purpose of this paper is to find out the applicability of relationship marketing concept in a professional ship management context primarily on ship management service business. The dramatic growth in ship management industry leads to the intensified competition among professional ship management companies in the world. Thus they have tried to find out ways of ensuring competitiveness to be a market leader in this industry. The fundamental base of marketing is that it involves exchanges. Professional ship management involves a series of transactions and exchanges between client and ship manager. Ship management companies will ensure competitiveness by applying the concept of relationship marketing to real practices.

본 연구는 연안여객선사의 안전관리 운영 효율성을 분석하기 위한 기초연구로 적절한 안전경영지표 평가항목을 설계하고 연안여객선사를 대상으로 평가항목의 유효성을 검증하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 먼저 연안여객운송사업자의 안전관리책임자, 공무원(선박검사관), 여객선 운항관리자 등으로 구성된 전문가 그룹을 통해 연안여객선사의 자발적 안전관리 활동을 평가하기 위한 5개의 평가항목과 14개의 세부 평가요인을 선정하고 사전검증 및 테스트를 통해 객관성을 제고하였다. 이 안전경영지표 평가항목을 이용하여 44개 연안여객선사에 대한 자발적 안전관리 수준을 평가하였다. 그리고 평가항목의 유효성을 검증하기 위하여 안전경영지표 평가항목 결과와 중대해양사고 비율을 비교분석하여 평가항목의 타당성을 확인하였다. 이를 통해 자발적 안전경영 수준이 높은 업체일수록 중대해양사고가 발생하지 않고 자발적 안전관리에 무관심하거나 소홀한 업체는 상대적으로 높은 중대해양사고가 발생하고 있는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이처럼 안전경영지표 평가항목 선정을 통해 연안여객선사의 안전관리 운영 효율성을 분석하는데 중요한 항목을 객관적인 관점에서 도출하였다. 따라서 향후 안전관리 효율성 분석을 위한 기초자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

This study aims to investigate the effect of quality management system in the shipping companies on the job satisfaction, organizational commitment, management performance. The quality management system is divided into operational accountability, employee management, crewman management, ship management, and sailing management based on previous study. Targets of survey are companies which are registered in Korean ship owner's association and Korea ship manager's association as of 2011. A total of 236 questionnaires are collected from shipping companies in Basan and Kyongnam from October 15 through November 5 in 2011. The result shows that operational accountability and employee management of quality management systems are mightily important in the shipping company. In the future research, based on analysis of shipping company's characteristics, the study for shipping companies which are perceived by customers could be conducted.

오늘날 해운산업분야에서 선박관리업의 역할과 중요성은 날로 확대되고 있다. 과거 해운경기의 불황을 거치면서 다수의 해운선사들은 비용의 상승 및 선원의 공급 불안정 등의 이유로 선원관리 분야의 아웃소싱을 시도하게 되었다. 이에 따라 해운산업에서도 분업화와 전문화가 활발해지면서 국내외 선박관리기업의 경쟁이 심화되고 있다. 경쟁시대에 생존을 위해서는 국내외 해운산업의 환경변화 및 선박관리업의 현황에 대한 정확한 이해와 경쟁력 제고를 위한 요인의 파악이 시급하다. 본 연구에서는 의사결정문제를 다루는 방법으로 다양한 대안 중에서 최적의 선택대안을 도출할 때 사용하는 계층분석적 의사결정방법(AHP)를 사용하여 우리나라 선박관리기업의 경쟁력 요인 우선순위를 도출하고자 한다. 분석 결과 선박관리업의 기업경쟁력 평가 요인에서 가장 중요하게 고려해야 할 사항은 인적자원 요인으로, 이것은 우수한 선원의 학보와 우수한 해기품질을 가진 육상의 관리요원을 확보하는 것이 중요하다는 것을 알 수 있다. 본 연구는 기업경쟁력에 관한 이론을 정립하는데 기여하며, 특히 선박관리기업의 경쟁력 요인을 도출함으로써 선박관리기업의 경쟁력 제고를 위한 경영전략 수립에 기여할 것으로 판단된다.

이 연구는 산업현장에서 직접 수집한 자료를 근거로 수행된 한국 선박관리업의 국제경쟁력 실태에 대한 분석이다. 본 연구에서는 국내 선박관리회사를 국제시장에 존재하는 다국적 선박관리회사와 비교하는 것이 보다 목적에 부합할 것이다. 그러나 국내 선박관리회사는 전반적으로 국제경쟁력 수준이 너무 낮아 다국적 선박관리회사와 비교하기에는 부적절하였다. 때문에 본 연구에서는 국적 외항선사의 선박관리부문을 국내 선박관리업의 비교주체이자 표본으로 선정, 비교하였다. 경쟁력분석은 크게 가격 경쟁력과 비가격 경쟁력으로 구분하여 실시하였다. 각격 경쟁력 요소로는 선원비, 입거수리비, 운항수리비, 선용품비, 기부속비, 윤활유비 및 관리수수료를 포함하였으며, 비가격 경쟁력 요소로는 선원 및 육상관리인의 자질, 관리조직의 효율성, 관리체계의 역량, 산업규격인증, 선박관리 노하우, 대선박 관리지원체계, 사무. 선박자동화 등으로 구성되었다. 분석결과 국적선사 선박관부문은 외국의 전문 선박관리회사들에 비해 전박적으로 국제경쟁력을 확보한 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 한국의 선박관리 사업은 선박관리 경쟁력 수준을 지속적으로 재고하여 적극적으로 국제시장 진출은 시도할 필요성이 있다.
