Face Replacement under Different Illumination Condition (다른 조명 환경을 갖는 영상 간의 얼굴 교체 기술)

  • Computer graphics(CG) is being important technique in media contents such as movie and TV. Especially, face replacement technique which replaces the faces between different images have been studied as a typical technology of CG by academia and researchers for a long time. In this paper, we propose the face replacement method between target and reference images under different illumination environment without 3D model. In experiments, we verified that the proposed method could naturally replace the faces between reference and target images under different illumination condition.

  • Text classification is one of the fundamental techniques in natural language processing. Numerous studies are based on text classification, such as news subject classification, question answering system classification, and movie review classification. Traditional text classification methods are used to extract features and then classify them. However, traditional methods are too complex to operate, and their accuracy is not sufficiently high. Recently, convolutional neural network (CNN) based one-hot method has been proposed in text classification to solve this problem. In this paper, we propose an improved method using CNN based skip-gram method for Chinese text classification and it conducts in Sogou news corpus. Experimental results indicate that CNN with the skip-gram model performs more efficiently than CNN-based one-hot method.

  • The purpose of this study was to research and design stage costumes of Whangjinie focusing on inner image of Whangjinie, present stage costumes of new image. Four steps were taken in order to achieve this purpose. The first step was to investigate the old documents and prior research about literature world of Whangjinie. The second step was to analyze stage costumes of Whangjinie which were worn in opera, movie. The third step was to design and make the stage costumes according to new images Whangjinie which were extracted from above two research results. The new images of Whangjinie are as follows 1. Whangjinie as a kisaeng(professional entertainer) She thirsted for new, materialistic love though she failed in love everytime. 2. Whangjinie as a woman. She had a hard time by feeling an irresistible yearning for lover 3. Whangjinie as a poet. She expressed as a poetry her vanity and loneliness of life. Using above three images, this study designed four new stage costumes of Whangjinie and two designs of them were made really. But this study didn't present historic costume of her age but expressed modern mood in color and form.

3D Light-Sheet Fluorescence Microscopy of Cranial Neurons and Vasculature during Zebrafish Embryogenesis

  • Precise 3D spatial mapping of cells and their connections within living tissues is required to fully understand developmental processes and neural activities. Zebrafish embryos are relatively small and optically transparent, making them the vertebrate model of choice for live in vivo imaging. However, embryonic brains cannot be imaged in their entirety by confocal or two-photon microscopy due to limitations in optical range and scanning speed. Here, we use light-sheet fluorescence microscopy to overcome these limitations and image the entire head of live transgenic zebrafish embryos. We simultaneously imaged cranial neurons and blood vessels during embryogenesis, generating comprehensive 3D maps that provide insight into the coordinated morphogenesis of the nervous system and vasculature during early development. In addition, blood cells circulating through the entire head, vagal and cardiac vasculature were also visualized at high resolution in a 3D movie. These data provide the foundation for the construction of a complete 4D atlas of zebrafish embryogenesis and neural activity.

On the Relationship between College Students' Attitude toward the Internet and their Self-directed English Learning Ability

  • This article is to investigate the possibility that project-based classes introducing mobile phones can replace the monotony of traditional classes led by teachers as well as they can encourage students to take active part in the classes to some extent. The students in groups choose a genre for their own video projects (e.g., movie, drama, news, documentary, and commercial) and produce the video contents using a mobile phone for presentation made at the end of a semester. In the sense that the students are allowed to do video-based mobile phone projects, they can work independently outside of class, where time and space are more flexible and students are free from the anxiety of speaking or acting in front of an audience. A mobile phone project consists of around five stages done both in and outside of the classroom. All of these stages can be graded independently, including genre selection, drafting of scripts, peer review and revision, rehearsals, and presentation of the video. Feedback is given to students. After the presentation, students filled out a survey questionnaire sheet devised to analyze students' responses toward preferences and level of difficulty of the project activity. Finally, proposals are made for introduction of a better mobile phone-based project classes.

On Using Films to Develop Students' Reading Skills in the MALL Classes

  • Exposed to a great many media and technology resources, EFL students seem to lack the motivations for learning on the basis of the conventional teaching methods. For this reason, in teaching English, finding teaching methods and materials appropriate to make the learning experiences for EFL students more engaging and interesting has become more challenging than ever. This is the main reason why English language teachers always keep searching for more motivating teaching sources. Although most of course books have CD's and DVD enclosed, these turn out to be less authentic and not very engaging for students. In order to bring diversity into the classroom, many teachers use films in EFL teaching. Films are usually seen as a media that attracts students' attention and tend to present language in a more natural (interactive) way as well. What is more important is that films offer a visual context aids which help students understand and improve their reading skills. This paper analyzes the effects of using films in the EFL classroom. Moreover, It shows that films as a teaching resource play a very effective role in developing students reading and communication skill. Last but not least, mobile phones are used as a main supplementary device in that either group is recommended to watch a movie anytime and anywhere.

EFL College Students' Learning Experiences during Film-based Reading Class: Focused on the Analysis of Students' Reflective Journals

  • In the age of information, newly produced knowledge is mostly written in English. Therefore, there has been a strong demand for English language learning in the EFL context. However, most EFL learners possess a lack of interest and motivation in the text-based reading class. In this educational context, film is one of the most widely used materials in English reading classes considering that modern learners are predominantly familiar with various audiovisual materials. The purpose of this study is to investigate how Korean EFL learners experienced in the film-based reading class. Specifically, this study aims to analyze the EFL students' perceptions about the class and learning strategies that they used during the class. In order to comprehensively interpret the EFL learners' experiences in the classroom, a coding system consisting of five categories was developed: report, emotion, reflection, evaluation, future plans. The results of data analysis showed that the use of movies in English reading classes had positive effects on reading comprehension and inference of word meaning. The most frequently used learning strategies were affective strategies which helped them control their emotion, attitude, motivations and values, whereas memorization strategies were rarely used. In this respect, this study suggests that the use of movies in the EFL reading classroom encourage students' attention and help them obtain and activate schema which is useful in gaining a better understanding of text-based reading materials.

UCC Contents Production System Using Direct Show (Direct Show 기반 UCC 컨텐츠 제작 시스템)

  • Recently, it has developed that UCC (User Created Contents) is made and created by the users. The mainly issue of production of contents parts is how can make easier and paly the moving picture more useful. In this paper, for this, we implemented UCC production system using Direct Show which is included Direct X. Direct Show is a moving picture editing technique and has been supported in Microsoft with COM component. Our system has features that the various effects can be easily inserted into moving Picture by users. Moreover, our system can efficiently apply the effects at playing the moving picture differently from the frame processing method. We confirmed these merits through experiments. The proposed system can be used for commercial purposes which high efficiency is required such as advertisement movie.

  • In this paper, we present a system for robust face detection based on wavelet transform using the standard models of image distortion. In the previous works, it was known to be difficult to treat a distorting of image information such as noises and light of the images obtained by a still camera and a movie camera. we analyze the high frequence information by using wavelet transform. This information is used for testing the image distortion and constructing the standard models of image distortion. The experimental results show that our extracting method based on standard models of image distortion is very effective.
