For ecological study of Synechogobius hasta the environmental factors, length composition, stages of ovarian maturation, growth, and stomach contents of this species were examined. The samples were collected from the Kum River estuary from May, 1994 to June, 1995. The ovarian egg development of this species underwent 4 stages : the oogonium stage in October to November, growth stage in December to February of next year, maturity stage in February to April, and spawning stage in late April to middle May. The peak spawning period appeared in early to middle May. The fecundity varied from 8,600 to 49,000 showing a exponential increase by body size. The minimum size having matured eggs was 225 mm in total length (standard length 180 mm). The larvae smaller than 10 mm appeared in late May, and young fish of total length $13\~15mm$ entered into bottom life in the shallow waters. The young fish grew rapidly and reached about 141.7 mm in late October. The fish inhabited in the subtidal zone from December to May of next year when began to spawn. The largest specimen examined in this study was 531 mm of male, 472 mm of female. The major food items of young fishes were copepods and invertebrate larvae, and those of adult fishes were crabs, fish, shrimps, cephalopods, and polychaetes.
This study was carried out to investigate the evaluation of insecticidal efficacy and control effect in field of 10 environmental-friendly agricultural materials (EFAM) and seasonal occurrence at the vineyards to the Lycorma delicatula. L. delicatula nymphs occurred from late May to late August the highest early June (1st nymph) while adults occurred from late July to November with the highest peak of early October (preovipositing female) in 2010. Total population density of L. delicatula was the highest in early June. For the 3rd~4th nymphal instars and adults, EFAM (Spider, Jindikap-plus and Byejin-${\alpha}$) showed perfect insecticidal activity 2hour after treatment. Seoncho showed insecticidal activities 96.7% within 48 hour. Residual effects between EFAM showed 55.5% Spider at recommended concentration at 7 days after treatment(DAT), the other EFAM had low efficacy. Jindikap-plus and Spider showed 99% control value on nymphs in the field test at 3DAT, appeared control value more than 90% at 7DAT. Also, the control effects of Jindikap-plus and Spider were showed the adult mortality of 100% and 98.2% respectively at 3DAT, 90.6% and 84.6% respectively at 7DAT. Whereas the other EFAM had low efficacy. Jindikap-plus and Spider were excellent control effects compared with Acetamiprid WP.
The reproductive ecology and the early life history of Macropodus chinensis were investigated in aquarium. Mature male made the bubble nest and spawned with wrapping the female and reverse posture. The parental male protected the offspring until the larvae depart the bubble nest. Egg productivity and egg hatching rate were the highest at water temperature in $28^{\circ}C$ and $26^{\circ}C$ respectivity than any other artificial temperature. The eggs were buoyant, globular and 0.95${\sim}$1.05 mm in diameter. Cleavage was progressed at intervals of 15 minutes. Eggs hatched in 42${\sim}$44hours after fertilization and the newly hatched larvae were 3.0${\sim}$3.2 mm in total length. The lawae were 4.5${\sim}$5.4 mm in 4${\sim}$5 days after hatching and fed on the food with dispersion from the nest. In 40${\sim}$45 days after hatching, all fin rays completely developed, and juveniles reached 18.2${\sim}$23.5 mm in total length. In 90${\sim}$110 days after hatching, body from of young fishes were similar to adult with 37.4${\sim}$48.2 mm and represented secondary sexual characters longer than 45.0 mm in total length, and about 120 days, fishes began spawning(water temperature for ontogenesis: $26.0{\pm} 1^{\circ}C$).

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the thermoregulatory responses to postures under different environmental conditions and to obtain the basal information for standard clothing weight, indoor climates, and working condition. Two adult female (22.5yrs, 46kg) were participated in this study. The experimental conditions were divided into three groups ; 1) comfort($27{\pm}1^{\circ}C$, $60{\pm}10%$), 2) hot($34{\pm}1^{\circ}C$, $60{\pm}10%$), and 3) cold($21{\pm}1^{\circ}C$, $50{\pm}10%$) condition. The postures performed were as follows; standing, sitting on the chair, sitting on the floor, and supine on the floor. At each condition, subjective sensations, 12 points skin temperature, rectal temperature, total and local sweat rate, pulse rates, blood pressure, skin blood flow rate were measured. The results were as follows : 1. Rectal temperature was high significant among groups in order of supine, sitting on the floor, sitting on the chair, standing posture(p<0.01). 2. Skin temperature was high in part of contact with the surface of the floor or wall and the effect of posture was greater in peripheral temperature than torso temperature. Sitting on the chair and sitting on the floor posture showed higher peripheral temperature than standing and supine posture. And peripheral temperature was lower in supine posture than any other postures. 3. Total and local sweat rate were decreased in order of standing, sitting on the chair, sitting on the floor, supine posture. 4. Pulse rate and disastolic blood pressure were higher in standing posture than supine posture, and there was significant difference between two postures(p<0.001). 5. Blood flow rate of thigh was high in sitting on the chair and sitting on the floor posture and low in standing posture. Blood flow rate of leg was low in standing posture significantly(p<0.01). 6. In comfort and hot condition, temperature sensation and comfort sensation were higher in standing posture and lower in supine posture than any other postures. In cold condition, temperature sensation was lower and comfort sensation was higher in standing and supine posture than any other postures. And supine posture was appeared positive in hot condition and negative in cold condition. From this study, we confirmed the effects of posture on human thermoregulatory responses. Results indicate that even under same conditions and clothing weight, the insulation of clothing will be different to postures.
This investigation was carried out to study morphological and chronological aspects of the development of the Harderian gland in the Mongolian gerbil(Meriones unguiculatus). Male and female Mongolian gerbils were sacrificed on days 1, 3, 5, 10, 30 and 60 after birth and their Harderian glands were processed for light microscopic observation. The results obtained were summarized as follows; 1. In 1-day-old Mongolian gerbil, Harderian gland was well distinguished from other tissue structures. It was composed of several immature tubules, and these tubules were separated each other by undifferentiated mesenchymal connective tissues. 2. In 3-day and 5-day-old Mongolian gerbils, the arrangement of tubules in the gland was more condensed than that of 1-day-old Mongolian gerbil. The excretory ducts started to appear in the connective tissues located between lobes. 3. In 10-day-old Mongolian gerbil, small lipid vacuoles began to be found in the cytoplasm of the secretory cells of the Harderian gland. There were some mucus-secreting cells within the epithelium of the excretory duct found in the interlobar connective tissues. 4. In 30-day-old Mongolian gerbil, there was markedly increased number of the tubules in the glands. The epithelial cells of the tubules were typically columnar in shape. Most of the columnar epithelial cells contained many small lipid vacuoles, although a few cells contained large lipid vacuoles. 5. In 60-day-old Mongolian gerbil, the Harderian gland exhibited the typical structural characteristics of the adult gland. The mature glandular structures were more distinct than those of 30-day-old animals.
This research was conducted to evaluate consumers' understanding and preference for shelf life and ingredient listings in food label by survey using a questionnaire. The questionnaires were collected from female adult consumers residing in Seoul, Kyonggi, Choongnam and Chungbuk areas. Most of the consumers showed good understanding for shelf life and ingredient listings in food label. They had no particular preference for the types of shelf life labelling. They preferred listing all ingredients completely with amounts, but differentiated from food additives. They wanted to get more information about shelf life and ingredient listings in food label that is mainly associated with food safety They showed more preference for labelling the shelf life in the information panel with a storage condition. Most of them chose the ingredient list format in which each ingredient was written in one row in bold characters with percentage labelling.
In the research and analysis for survey practice on stability on the nutrition intake relities to an affect influence factor for variable reason to discovers dweller in cities area which is in order to prevent an unfortunately influence that thus obviously restricted by nutrition intake would be restoration. And then attempted to avhivement of stability fulfil to correct nutrition intake needed under the establish for effectiveness measured to provide the primary required resources be considerations must accomplish certain survey of goals. Therefore subject of criticism for survey was conducted during January 4 1990 to January 24 1990 through 20 days adapted place were Seoul, Taegu and Pohang cities dweller 1206 person be conducted under the expert survey personnel by directly the survey was conducted with the questional form has atapted for its survey conclusion of result be summarixed as bellow. 1) The subject of criticism for survey was ferformed to personnel adapted age group 40 to 49 were 24.9%, Age group 50 to 59 were 18.4% shows most adult group has significant higher value rate appearenced. Objective. The objective of this study was to examine the hypothesis that inflammatory synovial fluid from TMJ internal derangement initiates a transient increase in intracellular calcium concentration ([$Ca^{2+}$]i) in chondrocytes and the induced Ca2+ signaling affects iNOS/COX-2 gene expression patterns following exposure to inflamed synovial fluid. Materials and Methods. Two female adult patients with symptoms of TMD who agreed to participate in the study were selected for this study. Immortalized human juvenile costal chondrocyte C-28/I2 was grown to 80% confluency and synovial fluids from two patients were added respectively to culture media for 24 hours at the concentration of 100ng/10ml. Confocal laser scanning microscope (CLSM) was used to examine changes of intracellular calcium concentration ([$Ca^{2+}$]i). RT-PCR was performed to identify the expression profile of IL-1${\alpha}$, iNOS, COX-2. Results. Increased [$Ca^{2+}$]i was observed in chondrocytes subjected to inflamed synovial fluid compared to control cultures and in respective cultures exposed to inflamed synovial fluids from each patient, IL-1${\beta}$, COX-2 mRNA were detected. However, in neither case iNOS mRNA was expressed. IL-1${\alpha}$, COX-2, and iNOS mRNA were expressed in control culture. Conclusion. Our results show that immortalized chondrocytes cultured with inflamed synovial fluids from patients diagnosed as disc displacement without reduction and limitation in mouth opening showed increased calcium concentration and expression of COX-2 while inhibiting the production of iNOS, which in turn could adversely affect the chondrocytes in at least short term by hindering physiologic role of NO against inflammatory cascades. These findings suggest that inflamed synovial fluid may differentially regulate the transcriptomes of relevant inflammatory mediators, especially iNOS/COX-2 axis in chondrocytes through adjusting calcium transients.
It is known that obesity is associated with chronic adult disease including stroke. However the relationship between stroke and obesity has not been discussed sufficiently, The purpose of this study was to confirm whether the serum Leptin levels related to BMI and these were associated with serum lipid levels and other risk factors in stroke patients. The subjects were 68 stroke patients(male 36. female 32) hospitalized in the Department of Circulatory Internal Medicine, College of Oriental Medicine, Kyung Hee University, Seoul. Obesity was shown in 16 patients(24%) whose BMI were above 25. and in 15 patients(22%) who represented higher values than normal in serum Leptin levels. BMI correlated with serum Leptin level(p=0.04), with Triglyceride(p=0.019) and with Total lipid(p=0.001) significantly. Meanwhile serum Leptin levels significantly correlated with Total cholesterol(p=0.013) only. BMI in the group with a history of smoking was significantly lower than that of the non-smoking group(p=0.01). Serum Leptin levels were higher in the group with Hypertension than the non-Hypertension group(p=0.026), lower in the non-Drinking group(p=0.006) and the smoking group(p=0.001) than the drinking group and the non-smoking group. respectively. So we concluded that BMI significantly correlates with serum Leptin levels and serum lipid levels in stroke patients.
Objective: The purposes of this study were to provide an epidemiologic data base related to the orthodontic treatment need and to know the changing trends about treatment modality of private orthodontic clinics. Methods: Distribution, trends and orthodontic treatment plan of malocclusion patients were investigated in 1,620 consecutive patients who had been visited and examined in 4 private orthodontic clinics located in Seoul from 2003-2006. Results: Percentage of male and female patients was 26.9% and 73.1% respectively Age distribution had shown that percentage of the patients above 13 years was 78.9%, and above 19 years was 59.0%. Average age of whole patients was 20.5 years. With regard to Angle classification, each percentage of Class I, Class II division 1, Class II division 2 and Class III malocclusion was 38.9%, 34.8%, 2.3% and 24.0%. The percentage of extraction cases(00.9%) outnumbered nonextraction cases(39.1%) and 46% of extraction cases were upper and lower 1st premolar extraction cases. Patients who had chose treatment with fixed appliance and orthognathic surgery was 10.2%. Conclusions: Because the high percentage of adult, Class II malocclusion and orthognathic surgery cases in patients of private orthodontic clinics were shown in this study, orthodontic education program and national health policy in Korea need reformation.
