Getting Smart? A Research Note into Smart Tourism Curriculum and Implications on Generation Alpha and Beta

  • This research note probes the largely ignored sphere of smart tourism curriculum as destinations and institutions seek to develop graduates ready to embrace the demands and challenges of future work environments where technology has a ubiquitous presence. This knowledge gap is somewhat surprising, even as destinations progress towards smart tourism futures, without necessarily clarifying what human resources need to possess in the coming decades. Drawing from available smart tourism curriculum across the globe, and emergent trends associated with Generation Alpha and Beta, this research note paints a timely picture of how smart tourism curriculum should be designed and developed to meet the needs of industry and consumer demands and expectations.

  • Legacy applications are valuable assets that should be integrated into next generation business systems. To gain this advantage, progressive companies can reverse engineer the legacy business operations. This paper presents a form-driven object-oriented reverse engineering(FORE) methodology by the use of business forms to recover semantics of legacy applications. They retain the user-oriented contents of business and thus are easily understandable. Our form driven object-oriented reverse engineering methodology consists of five phases: form and usage analysis, form object slicing, object structure modeling, scenario design, and model integration. Knowledge about form structure and user interaction with legacy applications is used to capture the design semantics. An object model, which consists of an object structure model and scenario results from such form knowledge. The resulting object model is more likely to help reverse engineers understand and reuse legacy systems.

국가R&D정보에 대한 온톨로지 기반 지식맵 서비스 (Knowledge Map Service based on Ontology of Nation R&D Information)

  • 과학기술 및 R&D 연구자는 선행 연구와 그 개발 결과에 대해 조사 분석하는데 많은 시간을 소비한다. 그리고 최근에는 효과적인 정보검색을 위해 시맨틱 웹을 비롯한 다양한 검색기술을 제공하고 있으며, 특히 온톨로지를 이용한 검색기술은 가장 효과적인 방법으로 알려져 있다. 이에, 본 연구는 국가 R&D정보(사업 및 과제정보), 그 사업 및 과제 수행을 통한 성과물(논문, 특허, 보고서, 기술이전 정보 등), 그리고 사업 및 과제와 연관된 정보(동향, 연구자, 용어 정보 등)를 연계하여 지식베이스(RDF-Triple)를 모델링하고, 이를 지식맵 서비스로 구현하여 연구자에게 국가 R&D정보를 한 눈에, 한 곳에서 국가 R&D정보를 살펴볼 수 있게 하는 것이다. 이를 통해, 정책가(정책입안자)에게는 R&D 전략 수립 과정 및 의사 결정을 지원할 수 있으며, 연구자에게는 선행 연구에 대한 조사 분석 시간 단축 및 새로운 연구 주제를 도출할 수 있는 기회를 제공할 수 있다.

Incentivizing User Contributions in Idea Crowdsourcing through Quantitative and Qualitative Feedback : A Field Experiment

  • Crowdsourcing is a popular tool for firms to harness external knowledge and resources. One variation of crowdsourcing entails the use of corporate channels in social network services (SNS) such as Twitter to hold public idea competitions. This study examined the role of feedback interaction between participants of idea competitions. More specifically, the study examined the impact of incentives to provide feedback on other participants' ideas. We found that idea competitions where explicit incentives were introduced to elicit crowdsourced feedback in the form of qualitative comments resulted in improved idea generation performance-with more ideas generated overall, and more ideas generated through participant collaborations, through increased comment-posting activities. Based on the findings, implications for theory and practice are discussed.

인공지능 속성에 대한 고객 태도 변화: AI 스피커 고객 리뷰 분석을 통한 탐색적 연구 (Customer Attitude to Artificial Intelligence Features: Exploratory Study on Customer Reviews of AI Speakers)

  • AI speakers which are wireless speakers with smart features have released from many manufacturers and adopted by many customers. Though smart features including voice recognition, controlling connected devices and providing information are embedded in many mobile phones, AI speakers are sitting in home and has a role of the central en-tertainment and information provider. Many surveys have investigated the important factors to adopt AI speakers and influ-encing factors on satisfaction. Though most surveys on AI speakers are cross sectional, we can track customer attitude toward AI speakers longitudinally by analyzing customer reviews on AI speakers. However, there is not much research on the change of customer attitude toward AI speaker. Therefore, in this study, we try to grasp how the attitude of AI speaker changes with time by applying text mining-based analysis. We collected the customer reviews on Amazon Echo which has the highest share of AI speakers in the global market from Amazon.com. Since Amazon Echo already have two generations, we can analyze the characteristics of reviews and compare the attitude ac-cording to the adoption time. We identified all sub topics of customer reviews and specified the topics for smart features. And we analyzed how the share of topics varied with time and analyzed diverse meta data for comparisons. The proportions of the topics for general satisfaction and satisfaction on music were increasing while the proportions of the topics for music quality, speakers and wireless speakers were decreasing over time. Though the proportions of topics for smart fea-tures were similar according to time, the share of the topics in positive reviews and importance metrics were reduced in the 2nd generation of Amazon Echo. Even though smart features were mentioned similarly in the reviews, the influential effect on satisfac-tion were reduced over time and especially in the 2nd generation of Amazon Echo.

  • In the highly competitive world, there has been a concomitant increase in the need for the research and planning methodology, which can perform an advanced assessment of technological opportunities and an early perception of threats and possibilities of the emerging technology according to the nation's economic and social status. the purpose of this research is to suggest schematized change aspects and new research directions hidden in bibliographical phenomenon of a paper in the science and technology field to science and technology researchers and policy planners. For this, the field this paper researches is the next generation OLED field. Thereason to choose this field is due to the importance of the next generation OLED, and wide scope connected by various fields. Besides, to measure application and technological fields by using bibliographical method and technology is as important as in a basic research field.

  • 최근, 유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅은 새로운 지식정보국가 건설과 자국의 정보 산업 경쟁력 강화를 위한 핵심 패러다임이라는 인식 하에 미국, 유럽, 일본의 정부 및 기업, 연구소들이 관련 기술에 대한 개발에 총력을 다하고 있다. 우리나라의 경우도 정부의 차세대 성장동력 산업의 주요 부분으로 유비쿼터스 기술을 제시하고 있으며, 국내 정부기관, 기업 또한 유비쿼터스 조기실현을 위한 노력을 경주하고 있는 실정이다. 따라서, 본 논문은 차세대 첨단 정보통신 기술로 부각되고 있는 유비쿼터스 환경을 건설분야에 효율적으로 적용하기 위한 기반 연구로써, 유비쿼터스환경하의 건설 프로세스의 변화양상과 단계별 정보 서비스 구현을 위한 필요한 요소기술들에 대하여 논하고자 한다.

특허경영활동이 기업 경영성과에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 : 국내 의료기기 제조 기업을 중심으로 (A Study on the Effect of Patent Management Activities on Firm Outcome : The Case of Korean Product Manufacturing Firms)

  • Patent management activities are considered to play a key role for technology-based firms under the recent knowledge-based economies. This is because intellectual property, including patents, can act as a system for continuous profit generation by protecting firms' products, processes and services. In Korea, healthcare industry is now regarded as one of the promising next generation industries. Despite the promise of healthcare industry, Korean healthcare product manufacturers are faced with turbulent business changes, such as market opening. Even though there are various industrial studies on the effect of patent management activities on firm outcome, previous studies have hardly paid attention to Korean healthcare product manufacturing firms. For this reason, this study identifies the effect of patent management activities, such as patenting activeness, technical excellence and cooperation degree, on firm outcomes, including financial profitability and firm growth, with respect to the Korean healthcare product manufacturers. In this study, we located 86 Korean healthcare manufacturing firms from KORCHAMBIZ and DART, and then collected the data of their patenting activities and outcomes between 2001 and 2013. By applying factor analysis and regression analysis, our empirical study found that firms' patenting activeness has the significant positive relationship on firms' financial profitability, and firms' patenting activeness and technical excellence have the significant positive relationship on firms' financial growth. Our study is an initial attempt to identify the effect of patent management activities on firm outcome within Korean healthcare product manufacturing industry, and thus its results can be used as the basis to formulate national policies for Korean healthcare product industry.

An Assessment of ICT Infrastructure, Deployment and Applications in the Science and Technology (S&T) Research Institutions in Ghana

  • The paper discusses the ICT infrastructure as far as the availability of (computers, local or wide area networks, Internet connectivity and its reliability, size of the bandwidth and its optimization, etc.) in the S&T research institution. It also examined the profile of the research scientists and looked at the type of ICT infrastructure that is available for their use as well as the reliability of the Internet connectivity within these research institutions. It looked at the broadband capacities of the research institutions and the ICT capabilities in respect of the technical and managerial support back-up that are available to the research institutions. The study used the survey research method with a questionnaire as well as personal observation to gather the data. From the data gathered, it was realized that the internet connectivity and the size of the bandwidth that the R&D institutions subscribed to differed significantly. Again, the extent to which the research scientists were able to access the internet in their respective institutions depended on the quality of the local network in place. Generally, the investments in ICT were made for different management objectives, and these were meant to facilitate the generation of new knowledge as well as make measurable improvements in R&D activities.

ANSIM 문서관리시스템에서 연구로사업 문서흐름 (Document Flow for the Research Reactor Project in ANSIM Document Control System)

  • A document control system (DCS), ANSIM (KAERI Advanced Nuclear Safety Information Management) was designed for the purpose of documents preparation, review, and approvement for JRTR (Jordan Research and Training Reactor) project. The ANSIM system consists of a document management, document container, project management, organization management, and EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) document folder. The document container folder run after specific contents, a revision history of the design documents and drawings are issued in KAERI. The EPC document work-scope is a registry for incoming documents in ANSIM, the assignment of a manager or charger, document review, preparing and outgoing PM memorandum as attached the reviewed paper. On the other hand, KAERI is aiming another extra network server for the NRR (New Research Reactor) by the end of this year. In conclusion, it is the first, computation system of DCS that provides document form, document number, and approval line. Second, ANSIM increases the productivity of performance that can be recognized the document work-flow of oneself and all participants. Finally, a plenty of experience and knowledge of nuclear technology can be transmitted to next generation for the design, manufacturing, testing, installation, and commissioning. Though this, ANSIM is expected to allow the export of a knowledge and information system as well as a research reactor.
