  • Switched reluctance motor drive system is well known as a variable speed drive system because it has a simple motor structure and a simple driving circuit. Widely slotted photo interrupter has been investigated as a position sensor for SRM speed control because it has advantages of low cost and simple structure. However it has low resolution and it produces dead-time signal. This paper studies variable speed SRM drive system with slotted photo-interrupter. Controller in this study is constructed by using fuzzy controller that covers system nonlinearities and small perturbations in sufficiency. The performance of this system is evaluated through computer simulation and experiment results.

  • Driven by the unavailibility of commercial test equipment for tensile and creep testing at temperatures up to $3000^{\circ}C$ a measuring system has been developed and constructed at the University of Applied Sciences, Jena. These temperatures are reached with precision by heating samples directly by electric current. Contact-less strain measurements are carried out with image processing software utilizing a CCD camera system. This paper covers results of creep tests which have been conducted on TZM sheet material (thickness 2 mm) in different heat-treatment conditions in the temperature range between $1200^{\circ}C$ and $1600^{\circ}C$.

  • Development of white light emitting materials has been an interesting area for scientists and scientists have developed many organic, polymer and inorganic materials for white electroluminescent devices. Among them, single component small molecules gave best results in terms of efficiency, simplicity of device fabrication, and CIE values. Therefore, this review covers detailed discussion about syntheses of small compounds used in white organic light emitting devices until 2007.

  • We present a new UBVI CCD photometry of the intermediate-age open cluster NGC 2420. Our photometry covers a field of $7'9\times7.'7$ of the sky centered on the cluster. We determined the reddening and distance to the cluster by the main sequence fitting as $E(B - V) = 0.05\pm0.02$ and $(m-M)_o = 11.9\pm0.1$, along with the age of $\~2$ Gyr by fitting the Padova isochrones to the observed color-magnitude diagrams of the cluster. The fraction of binaries is found to be $44\pm5\%$ and they are likely to locate in the central region of the cluster. The spatial distributions of the binaries and the variation of the cluster luminosity functions along the radius suggest mass segregations due to the dynamical evolution of the cluster.

The proposed antenna covers Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM900: 880~960 MHz), Digital Communications System (DCS: 1710~1880 MHz), US-Personal Communications Service (US-PCS: 1850~1990 MHz), Bluetooth(2400~2484 MHz), WiMAX(3400~3600 MHz), and Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN: 5150~5350 MHz, 5725~5875 MHz) band for Voltage Standing Wave Ratio $(VSWR)\;{\le}\; 3$. The measured peak gains of the implemented antenna are -1.78dBi at 920MHz, 2.72dBi at 1795MHz, 2.25dBi at 1920MHz, 2.34dBi at 2442MHz, 2.11 dBi at 3550MHz, and 2.04 dBi at 5250MHz.

  • The increasing interest in the corrosion properties of weld joints in the corrosive environment is placing stringent demands on the manufacturing techniques and performance requirements, and the manufacture employs the high quality and efficiency welding process to produce welds. Welding plays an important role in the fabrication of chemical plants, nuclear power plant, ship construction, and this has led to an increasing attention to the corrosion resistant weld joints. This paper covers a recent technical trends of welding technologies for corrosion resistance properties including the COMPENDEX DB analysis of welding materials, welding process, and welding fabrications.

  • The ocean environment offshore West Africa is considered to be mild. However, the generated swell from distant North and South Atlantic during austral winter and summer can reach high wave amplitudes with relatively low wave periods or low wave amplitudes with long wave periods, the later can be a crucial scenario to consider when the assessment of vessel resonance is of importance. Most offshore operations, which include offshore drilling, and installation in West Africa, are carried out from floating systems. The response of these systems and performance are governed by characteristics, such as amplitude and frequency of the wave and swell seas. It is therefore important to fully understand the sea conditions offshore Nigeria. This study covers the description of the swell sea offshore Nigeria using Bonga offshore wave measurements collected from the directional wave-rider (DWR), positioned at the Bonga site off the coast of Nigeria.

  • Hefei has suffered from heavy air pollution, especially car exhaust and industry emissions. The smoke contains PM2.5 and PM10. These smoke will enter people's bodies and have a bad impact on the human body. This review is about PM2.5. This review covers the sources and hazards of PM2.5. It introduces the use of modelling methods to analyze PM2.5 pollution in various places and proposes treatment measures. These cities were heavily polluted by PM2.5, and after the local government's management and renovation, there has been a significant improvement. However, there are still many shortcomings in the process of pollution improvement. This review combines the means used in the process of pollution prevention and control in Handan City, Beijing. Hefei now suffers from some of the same pollution as these cities did in the past.

  • This article highlights new opportunities of inorganic semiconductor materials for bio-implantable electronics, as a subset of 'transient' technology defined by an ability to physically dissolve, chemically degrade, or disintegrate in a controlled manner. Concepts of foundational materials for this area of technology with historical background start with the dissolution chemistry and reaction kinetics associated with hydrolysis of nanoscale silicon surface as a function of temperature and pH level. The following section covers biocompatibility of silicon, including related other semiconductor materials. Recent transient demonstrations of components and device levels for bioresorbable implantation enable the future direction of the transient electronics, as temporary implanters and other medical devices that provide important diagnosis and precisely personalized therapies. A final section outlines recent bioresorbable applications for sensing various biophysical parameters, monitoring electrophysiological activities, and delivering therapeutic signals in a programmed manner.

  • This paper proposes a radiation model, which considers radiation transport as an important component in hot gas analysis. This radiation model is derived from combining the method of partial characteristics (MPC) with net emission coefficient (NEC), and it covers the drawbacks of existing models. Subsequently, using this proposed model, the arc-flow interaction in an arcing chamber can be efficiently computed. The arc is represented as an energy source term composed of ohmic heating and the radiation transport in the energy conservation equation. Ohmic heating term was computed by the electric field analysis within the conducting plasma region. Radiation transport was calculated by the proposed radiation model. Also, in this paper, radiation models were introduced and applied to the gas circuit breaker (GCB) model. Through simulation results, the efficiency of the proposed model was confirmed.
