  • In this study, we propose a new method for simulating water responding to human motion. Motion data obtained from motion-capture devices are represented as a jointed skeleton, which interacts with the velocity field in the water simulation. To integrate the motion data into the water simulation space, it is necessary to establish a mapping relationship between two fields with different properties. However, there can be severe numerical instability if the mapping breaks down, with the realism of the human-water interaction being adversely affected. To address this problem, our method extends the joint velocity mapped to each grid point to neighboring nodes. We refine these extended velocities to enable increased robustness in the water solver. Our experimental results demonstrate that water animation can be made to respond to human motions such as walking and jumping.

  • This content is a part of the results of the study on the development of the vacuum carburizing technology. In this study the vacuum carburizing furnace being used was the furnace that developed through the joint project between KIMM and Kyung-Pook Heat Treating Co. from June 1988 to Nov. 1990. And the used carburizing gas was the propane gas and the introducing methods of the gas applied two methods such as pulse and constant pressure. By this study we established the basis of the furnace manufacturing technology and of the processing technology in the vacuum carburizing. Above all in this work there are notable meanings in a viewpoint of the foremost research in home. Hereafter, we are going to industrialize the vacuum carburizing technology by improving the results of the present work and by developing the process for the mass production.

  • The purpose of this paper was to propose the efficient strategies of internet fashion shopping malls to success in the internet shopping mall market growing rapidly. Representative 5 internet fashion shopping malls - Halfclub, Fashionplus, e-Hyundai, Hansol CSClub and LGeShop - were selected and in-depth interviews were performed to analyze their marketing 4P's strategies. The results of this study are as fellows. Five shopping malls'main targets are women in twenties and early thirties. The price strategies are various according to shopping malls'character. In general, there are small amounts of discounts on new products(about 5%) which are sold by department stores. Shopping malls executed delivery of goods by cooperation with distribution companies and direct distribution of subcontract companies. Shopping malls are sending e-mails to the members as a promotion strategy. CRM(Customer Related Management) is partially implemented. Joint purchase and various events are conducted frequently. Shopping malls guarantee exchange and refund services.

  • This paper presents a method for solving the path planning problem for robot manipulators. The technique allows manipulators to move from a specified starting point to a goal without colliding with objects in two dimensional environment. Approximate cell decomposition with a greedy depth-first search algorithm is used to guide the end effector though Cartesian space and genetic algorithms are used to solve the joint variable for the robot manipulators.

  • Excavation of underground cavern and shaft was proposed for the construction of a ventilation facility in an urban area. A shaft connects the street-level air plenum to an underground cavern, which extends down approximately 46 m below the street surface. At the project site, the rock mass was relatively strong and well-defined joint sets were present. A kinematic block stability analysis was first performed to estimate the required reinforcement system. Then a 3-D discontinuum numerical analysis was conducted to evaluate the capacity of the initial support and the overall stability of the required excavation, followed by a 3-D continuum numerical analysis to complement the calculated result. This paper illustrates the application of detailed numerical analyses to the design of the required initial support system for the stability of underground hard rock mining at a relatively shallow depth.

  • The block-unit housing renewal project was presented as an alternative method to overcome the side effects of large-scale renewal projects while improving poor residential conditions. However, projects implementation is prolonged and even the pace of projects, which was considered an various incentives, is being delayed for the most part. In this study, delay factors are drawn by eight; conflict among association members, contract delay of joint implementation, participation paucity of constructor, inadequate project guidelines, alteration of project plan, lack of renewal project professionals, stricter loan restriction of HUG, lack of capacity of project operator. We categorized those eight factors to three aspects such as implementation, participants and proposition and suggested improvement alternatives according to three aspects.

  • The prediction of quality characteristics during the design phase of a construction project was fragmented, because no particular method exists. One of the most important key responses is the total displacements (horizontal and vertical). A brainstorming session produces the quality parameters i.e. the control factors which here are identified as: the steel joint, the pile's length, the excavation depth and angle, the distance between the piles, the anchor stretch and length to name just some of the most engaging in the design. The purpose of this study is to optimise these parameters to minimize the total displacements following a methodology based on Taguchi method. For this reason, a 2-level, L8 orthogonal array has been employed to organize the experimentation. Data is obtained from a real-life excavation project designed on the Plaxis v.8 CAE package. Taguchi analysis is performed in the statistical package Minitab.

  • This study was aimed to derive implications in terms of competition to establish a reasonable spectrum policy for fifth-generation (5G) spectrum allocation through an in-depth analysis of C-band spectrum auctions. As a result of examining auctions in five countries, namely, Belgium, Sweden, Canada, Brazil, and Hong Kong, we identified various characteristics. First, the minimum bandwidth that is essential for service competition is guaranteed. Second, in Brazil, the network construction cost of mobile network operators is regarded as a part of the spectrum price. Third, a joint allocation of spectrum is permitted in Sweden, and spectrum sharing after allocation for 5G services is allowed in Canada. Finally, the reserved spectrum is provided for new service providers in Belgium and Canada. Our findings may provide insights for establishing policies of 5G spectrum allocation and competition in the telecommunications service market in Korea.
