  • It is well-known that the hearing strength in vertical joints of precast concrete large panel system is affected by grout compressive strength angle of shear key and bearing area. 21 vertical joint specimens were tested to investigate the effects of these parameters The analysis of test results shows that : 1. The higher be grout compressive strength, the higher will shear strength be. And the bearing strength does not so increase in proportion of bearing area. 2. The shear key with the angle of $20^{\circ}$shows the highest bearing strength among three angle variables of $20^{\circ}$, $25^{\circ}$, $30^{\circ}$.

  • Generally, the method used most widely for rock mass classification is considering the rock strength and development of joint frequency. However, if rock bed has micro-crack and long joint, this method is not rational. Therefore, the difficulties of excavation in the rock bed with complicated geological condition are decided by combining joint frequency. indoor tests (uniaxiall compressive strength, point load test, indoor elastic wave velocity, etc.) and field seismic refraction survey, and the rock mass classification should be implemented by considering their interrelationship.

  • The light pinkish granite (LPG) and pinkish granite (PG) distributing widely in the Mungyeong-Sangju area are characterized by miarolitic texture of various shape and size. By the joint frequency contour diagram, the joints of orthogonal thpe are recognized in the LPG and PG. From the petrologic textures, joint pattern, and joint spacings, it is recommended that the LPG has more possibility than the PG in recovery ratio of stone. The average physical properties such as specific gravity, absorption ratio (%), porosity (%) and compressive strength (kg/$cm^2$) have been tested 2.6 and 2.6, 0.5 and 0.6, 1.4 and 1.5, 1440 and 1680 for the LPG and PG, respectively. The stones belong to the hard rock, and represent applicable building stone. The thermal conductivity (w/m.k) showing proportional relationships with the absorption ratio and porosity is 2.2~3.2 and suggests massive texture. With increasing of the compressive strength, the ratio of $Fe_2O_3$/($Fe_2O_3$+FeO) show irregular trend and CaO, $Na_2O$ and $K_2O$ have uniformal values without variations. These results suggest there are no matual relationships.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of Bent-up Bars in Beam-Column Joint with High-Strength Concrete up to 800 kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$. 5 specimens were tested under reversed cyclic loadings. The primary variables were the number of the Bented Bars with Joint Core, compressive strength and loading patterrns. The results showed that bent-up bars in beam-column joint prevented crack from extending into core but the failure was concreterated at the face of beam-column joint. Thus shear stress constant value(Г) should be revised for High Strength Concrete Beam-Column Joint with Bent-up Bars.

  • A large Pc structure building is system that consisted of bearing wall and slab joint. It has general structure stability from unity thar each members tied at joint. The strength of mortar that packing in joint among panels is important to internal force in entire building system. Do, if we could get early strength estimation with microwave. It would bring good construction planning, reduce construction time, and judge building stability and so on. The purpose of this study is to develop early estimation method for making better quality control and constructing good PC panel structure. The results of this study were as follows :1) With sealed molds, reduced moisture volatilization to more than 60% and enlarged 30% accelerated compressive strength than before one. 2) To get more accelerated strength, we should control maximum temperature difference to $30^{\circ}C$ downward 3)Interrelation with 7-day and 28-day strength were 0.831,0.902, and it is above than before one

  • PURPOSE. This study evaluated the influence of abutment materials on the stability of the implant-abutment joint in internal conical connection type implant systems. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Internal conical connection type implants, cement-retained abutments, and tungsten carbide-coated abutment screws were used. The abutments were fabricated with commercially pure grade 3 titanium (group T3), commercially pure grade 4 titanium (group T4), or Ti-6Al-4V (group TA) (n=5, each). In order to assess the amount of settlement after abutment fixation, a 30-Ncm tightening torque was applied, then the change in length before and after tightening the abutment screw was measured, and the preload exerted was recorded. The compressive bending strength was measured under the ISO14801 conditions. In order to determine whether there were significant changes in settlement, preload, and compressive bending strength before and after abutment fixation depending on abutment materials, one-way ANOVA and Tukey's HSD post-hoc test was performed. RESULTS. Group TA exhibited the smallest mean change in the combined length of the implant and abutment before and after fixation, and no difference was observed between groups T3 and T4 (P>.05). Group TA exhibited the highest preload and compressive bending strength values, followed by T4, then T3 (P<.001). CONCLUSION. The abutment material can influence the stability of the interface in internal conical connection type implant systems. The strength of the abutment material was inversely correlated with settlement, and positively correlated with compressive bending strength. Preload was inversely proportional to the frictional coefficient of the abutment material.

  • This study is dealt with the experimental seam strength of deep corrugated steel plate which is used as underpasses, storm sewers and other buried applications. The soil-metal structure using deep corrugated plate should be sufficient to ensure safety for compressive loading. The experimental and theoretical results on the seam strength are accumulated enough to take the design guideline, even if the seam strength at the bolt connected lap joint in construction site can be varied depending on the connection detailing and the thickness of plate. In this study, compressive behavior of bolted lap jointed plates using various connection detail such as gasket, slot hole, washer was experimentally analyzed. From the test, failure pattern with an increases in the thickness of specimens was changed from plate bearing to bolt shearing. In case of thicker plates than 6.0mm, the structural performance of lap joint using gasket and slot hole is more effective than it of the plate adopted washer.

  • Behavior of RC beam-column joint is very complex as the composite material behaves differently in elastic and inelastic range. The approaches generally used for predicting joint shear strength are either based on theoretical, strut-and-tie or empirical methods. These approaches are incapable of predicting the accurate response of the joint for entire range of loading. In the present study a new generalized RC beam-column joint shear strength model based on hybrid approach i.e. combined strut-and-tie and empirical approach has been proposed. The contribution of governing parameters affecting the joint shear strength under compression has been derived from compressive strut approach whereas; the governing parameters active under tension has been extracted from empirical approach. The proposed model is applicable for various conditions such as, joints reinforced either with or without shear reinforcement, joints with wide beam or wide column, joints with transverse beams and slab, joints reinforced with X-bars, different anchorage of beam bar, and column subjected to various axial loading conditions. The joint shear strength prediction of the proposed model has been compared with 435 experimental results and with eleven popular models from literature. In comparison to other eleven models the prediction of the proposed model is found closest to the experimental results. Moreover, from statistical analysis of the results, the proposed model has the least coefficient of variation. The proposed model is simple in application and can be effectively used by designers.
