Job Competence of College Students in Korea: An Expansion of Core Competence Theory

  • The purpose of this study is to find what competence determines the employment of college students using data from the K-CESA (Korea Collegiate Essential Skills Assessment) of a Korean university during 2009-2014. This test comprises of 6 categories of competence: self-management, global readiness, interpersonal relationship, resource/information/technology handling, communication and comprehensive reasoning. In addition to these competences, we add the comprehensive variable, grade point average. In order to identify the qualities of employment, employment was classified into 3 types: all employment, employment in decent jobs and employment in the top 500 companies. Results are as follows: For all employment and decent jobs, GPA and comprehensive reasoning were the meaningful variables. However in case of the top 500 companies, interpersonal relationship was added. Based on the analysis, this study suggests the fundamental concepts of college students' job competence: job specific competence, job basic competence, and basic competence.

119구급대원의 자기계발 교육이 업무능력, 직무 만족도 및 삶의 질에 미치는 영향 (Influence of the Self-Help Education on Job Competence, Job Satisfaction and Quality of Life in 119 Paramedic's)

  • 본 연구는 119구급대원들의 자기계발 교육이 업무능력, 직무 만족도 및 삶의 질에 미치는 영향을 규명하고, 구급대원들의 삶의 질 향상과 직무의 전문성 확보하기 위하여 실시되었다. 강원 및 대구 소방서에 근무하고 있는 119구급대원 성인 남녀 205명을 대상으로 2019년 5월 12일부터 8월 23일까지 설문조사를 실시하였다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS 20.0을 사용하여 빈도분석, 상관관계 및 다중회귀분석을 실시하였다. 다중회귀분석 결과, 119구급대원들의 자기계발 교육, 업무능력 및 직무 만족도, 삶의 질 간 정적상관이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 119구급대원들의 자기계발 교육이 업무능력(개인적 영역), 직무 만족도(개인적 영역, 조직적 영역, 전문적 영역), 삶의 질(개인적 영역, 전문적 영역)에 유의한 영향을 미쳤다.(p<.01, p<.001). 119구급대원들의 삶의 질에는 업무능력(고객 지향성, p<.01), 직무 만족도(상관 및 동료, 전문성, p<.001)가 유의한 영향을 미쳤다. 이러한 결과를 감안할 때, 119구급대원들의 자기계발 교육 활성화를 통한 삶의 질 향상과 전문성을 확보하기 위한 구체적 방안이 필요하다.

NCS 능력단위 요소와 기존 교육과정 간 갭 분석을 위한 평가모델 (Evaluation Model for Gab Analysis Between NCS Competence Unit Element and Traditional Curriculum)

  • 국가 직무능력 표준 (NCS; national competency standards)은 직무를 수행하기 위해 요구되는 능력에 대한 체계화 및 표준화이다. NCS는 특정 직무능력인 능력단위 요소로 구체화하고 표준화하여 학습모듈을 개발한다. 기존 교육과정은 NCS 능력단위 요소를 교육 훈련에 활용하기 위해서 갭 분석 (gab analysis)이 필수적이다. 기존에 갭 분석은 전문가가 주관적으로 평가하였다. 전문가에 의한 갭 분석은 심리적 요소에 의해 주관적 결정, 정확성 결여, 시간 및 공간적 비효율성 문제가 제기되었다. 본 논문은 주관적 평가의 문제 해결을 위해 자동화 평가모델을 제시하였다. 본 논문은 기존 교육과정과 능력단위 요소 간 갭 분석을 위해, 색인어 추출, 단어빈도수-역 빈도수 기반 특징 값 추출, 코사인 유사도 알고리즘을 이용하였다. 또한, 기존 교육과정과 NCS 능력단위요소 사이 유사도 매핑 테이블을 제시하였다. 본 논문의 평가모델은 구조적 특징이나 속도 면에서 개선된 알고리즘을 통해 보완해야 한다.

방사선사 핵심 직무역량 모델의 적합성 및 타당성 검증 (A Goodness of Fit and Validity Study of the Korean Radiological Technologists' Core Job Com petency Model)

  • 방사선사는 사람의 생명을 대상으로 하므로 전문적인 직무역량(job competency)이 요구된다. 그럼에도 현재 한국에서는 방사선사의 직무역량을 밝히고 있는 연구가 이루어진 바 없다. 이에 한국 방사선사의 핵심 직무역량 지표를 정의하고 역량군별 요인모델을 제시하고자 방사선사 직무역량에 대한 설문을 실시하여 최종 147명의 응답내용을 취합하였다. 응답 내용은 PASW Statistics Version 18.0와 AMOS Version 18.0을 이용하여 탐색적 요인분석과 확인적 요인분석을 실시하였다. 요인분석 결과 전문직업성', '환자관리', '건강 및 안전', '장비의 운영', '절차와 관리'의 5개 핵심 직무역량군과 17개의 하위 역량으로 구성된 모델을 구성하였다. 5개 핵심 직무역량군의 측정 모델 RMSEA 값은 0.1, CFI와 TLI 값이 0.9에 근사하게 나타나 양호한 적합도를 보였으며, 타당도 분석 결과 평균분산추출 값 0.5이상, 개념신뢰도 값 0.7이상으로 각 하위 역량에 포함된 세부 항목 간에 상관관계도 높게 나타났다. 이 연구의 결과는 한국의 의료 환경에서 방사선사에게 요구되는 직무역량을 명확히 제시하여 역량 중심의 인적 자원 양성과 관리에 필요한 구체적인 정보를 제공해 줄 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

Communication Strategies of Online-Based Leadership and Members' Work Engagement and Job Burnout

  • Work engagement and job burnout are crucial problems in Korea, particularly in the business environment, and they also indicate people's motivation. Online-based teams in e-business also have these issues. Especially the role of the leader in this new type of teams is more crucial for members' motivation, behavior, and performance. Contingency leadership theories posit that different situations need different traits or behaviors of a leader. For an online-based team, which is internet-based team in e-business, a leader should use specific communication strategies to enhance a team's performance and members' motivation. In an online-based team and an offline-based team, the ways in which leaders motivate members will be different. This paper suggests particular communicative strategies for leaders of online situations. Online-based team members communicate using mobile phones or IT tools, and leaders mayinfluences members in virtual meetings. Moreover, online-based leadership needs to be more entrepreneurial and risk encouraging, and less conservative than offline-based leadership. In addition, online-based leadership should be energetic, decisive, adaptable, and inspiring, and furtherutilize communication tools such as being more gregarious/talkative, assertiveness, linguistic diversity and affect. This paper explains the roles of communicative elements such as coordination, expression, direction-giving/uncertainty reduction, empathy, meaning-making, satisfaction, and competence to decrease job burnout and to increase work engagement. The purpose of this study is to suggest communication strategies' differentiated influences on work engagement and job burnout in an online-based team.

Relationship Between Occupational Safety and Health Policy Principles, Organizational Action on Work-related Stress and the Psychosocial Work Environment in Italy

  • Background: It is acknowledged that legislation acts as a motivator for organizational action on psychosocial risks. Our study aims to provide evidence on the relationship between key occupational safety and health (OSH) policy principles and organizational action on work-related stress, and, in turn, with reported employee job demands and resources and their experience of work-related stress. We focus on Italy where specific legislation and practices on work-related stress were introduced in 2008 which are underpinned by these key OSH policy principles. Methods: Secondary analysis of the Italian samples from the employer ESENER-2 and employee 6th EWCS surveys was conducted, using path analysis in structural equation modeling (SEM) linking the two datasets. Results: We found a strong statistically significant relationship between OSH policy principles and organizational action on work-related stress (C.I. = .62-.78 p < .001). The existence of an organizational action plan on work-related stress was found to be significantly associated with more reported job resources (C.I. = .02-.24, p < .05) but these were not found to be significantly associated with less work-related stress. No significant association was found between having an organizational action plan for work-related stress and reported job demands. However, job demands were significantly related to reported work-related stress (C.I. = .27-.47, p < .001). Conclusions: Findings add support to the call for specific legislation on work-related psychosocial risks and highlight how an organizational OSH culture underpinned by key OSH principles, and awareness/competence development on psychosocial risk management can have a positive effect on organizational action. However, further support needs to be provided to organizations around developing primary prevention interventions at the organizational level with the aim of reducing job demands.

종합병원 고객 접점 행정직원에 대한 권한부여와 직무만족, 조직몰입과의 관계 (Relationship between Empowerment, Job Satisfaction and Organizational Commitment of the General Hospital Administrative Staff working for Customer Interaction Department)

  • Purposes: The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between empowerment, job satisfaction and organizational commitment of the general hospital administrative staff working for customer interaction department. Methodology: For this purpose, this study sampled 260 administrative staff working for the general hospitals in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do. A total of 260 questionnaires were distributed to them, and 229 ones responded to the survey, which had been conducted from Mar. 9, through Mar. 30, 2018. 211 responses were used for the final analysis. The data collected were processed using the SPSS 18.0K for descriptive statistics, T-test, ANOVA and regression analysis. Findings: The results of this study can be summed up as follows. The empowerment of the subjects scored 3.73 on average on the 5-point scale. To be specific, the sub-factor 'meaning' scored the highest or 4.01, while the sub-factor 'impact' was lowest. Subjects' job satisfaction scored 3.37 and their organizational commitment scored 3.54 both on the 5-point scales. Practical Implications: Meaning and self determination of empowerment positively related to subjects' job satisfaction and organizational commitment, and particularly, meaning of empowerment was more strongly related. Hence, it is required of the general hospitals to operate a customized competence build-up program and educational courses on a continual basis. Besides, it would also be important to create a working environment wherein the administrative staff can demonstrate their deliberation, autonomy and independent services.

Possibility of a Standardized System for Task-Related Hierarchal Positions of Dental Hygienists

  • Background: Despite the demand for greater competence of dental hygienists in recent times, and the consequent standardization of systems in the organizations, there is a lack of a proper system for hierarchal positions of dental hygienists. The aim of this study was to identify the tasks performed by Korean dental hygienists in various work settings and hierarchal positions to suggest a standardized system for task-related hierarchal positions. Methods: A survey was conducted by sending questionnaires to 966 dental hygienists, and responses from 757 participants were included in the final analysis. The survey comprised questions regarding participants' general characteristics, tasks, current positions, and the internal policies or standards of the respective organizations to define these positions. The participants' positions were analyzed as frequency and cross-sectional analysis with respect to their general characteristics, their place in the organizational charts, the size of their workplaces, and differences in the tasks performed. Results: Data showed that 82.6% of the hospitals and clinics in Korea have organizational systems to determine the positions, and there was a significant difference in the systems according to the size of the health facility (p<0.05). The standards or policies used to define positions within general or university hospitals were determined by internal regulations or bylaws, whereas work experience was the major determinant of positions in smaller dental hospitals or clinics. The main tasks performed by dental hygienists in Korea were dental assistance (81.2%), routine dental hygiene tasks (53.4%), and administrative tasks, such as reception and billing (46.1%). Conclusion: Most dental hygienists in Korea are actively involved in dental assistance. Therefore, their specific tasks and responsibilities should be standardized more effectively. The data obtained from this study can be used to establish a standardized position system.

B2B 소프트웨어 유통 중소기업을 위한 고객과의 지속거래 유지 전략: 사례 연구 (Strategies for Continuous Transactions with Customers for B2B Software Retailers: Case Study)

  • Purpose - The purpose of this study was to propose a specific and empirical continuous transaction strategy through service quality of improvement to small and medium Korean companies whose main business is B2B distribution and sale of general-purpose SW. Research design, data, and methodology - The research procedure is largely divided into two phases. In the first phase, the service quality, the customer satisfaction, and the continuous transaction research hypothesis and the verification are carried out. Experimental data were collected from 450 companies, CEO companies of SMEs innovation institutes, and 510 companies from medium and large enterprises. From September 15 to October 5, 2015, 215 questionnaires were used. And research hypothesis and test were conducted by SPSS SW Ver. 20. Results - The results of the study confirm that service quality has a positive effect on customer satisfaction and continuous transaction: as the detailed items for improving the service quality, 'responsiveness', 'assurance' and 'empathy' have been adopted. Therefore, there are critical factors of a company's survival through continuous transaction. Conclusions - Through this study, we confirmed that the survival of small businesses require continuous improvement in service quality. Among the factors improving service quality, empathy means service satisfaction of customers; so, it is necessary to continuously improve it by evaluating customer satisfaction. Responsiveness means rapid response to customer needs and reliability; it is necessary to enhance customer responsiveness by continuous job training and service training. Finally, assurance is the same as sales product or after service. This means that it is necessary to not only issue the "supply contract," but also improve the reliability of the sales product by securing the competence of the consulting professional. However, because the service quality measurement factors selected in this study are the measurement factors that are mainly applied to large companies or those in the service industries, it is important to consider the type of sales of software distribution companies.

과업수행을 위한 소셜네트워크서비스(SNS)의 활용에 대한 연구: 과업-매체적합성을 중심으로 (Study on the Use of SNS(Social Network Service) for Tasks :Focus on the Task-Media Fit)

  • SNS가 사회전체에 미치는 영향이 커지면서 기업들도 SNS의 신속성, 공유성, 상호작용성 등에 관심을 갖고, 이를 어떻게 활용할 것인가에 대해 고민하기 시작했다. 본 연구도 SNS의 업무적 활용에 초점을 두고 과업 지원도구인 SNS와 과업과의 적합성, 사용자특성 그리고 성과와의 관계를 실증하고자 한다. 연구를 위해 과업-기술적합모형을 토대로 사회적 요소, 정보기술로서 SNS의 특성 그리고 사용자 특성을 고려하여 연구모형을 제안하였다. 연구결과 과업-매체 적합성에 직무특성, 가상능숙도, 매체특성 모두 유의한 영향관계를 가지며, SNS이용에는 가상능숙도와 SNS 특성 변수가 유의한 영향관계를 보였다. 또한 과업-매체 적합성은 SNS이용과 업무성과에, SNS이용은 업무성과에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구를 통해 SNS의 전략적 활용은 업무성과 향상에 도움이 되며, SNS활용 전략 수립시에 개인특성이 고려되어야 함을 시사하고 있다.
