The purpose of this study was to gain understanding about residential satisfaction and preference of the members of the future elderly generation who have an intention to develop senior congregate housing. The data for this study were collected from 600 participants who were in their 40s to 60s, residing in Seoul, and who have an intention to develop senior congregate housing. The data collection spanned from December 1st to 20th, 2004. The results of this study were as follows: Firstly, the respondents who had a higher level of education, higher income, and a high-ranking job showed relatively higher residential satisfaction with their present house. Similar satisfaction level came between their present house and expecting ones in their later life. Financial responsibility was the most serious expected problem when they continue living in the present house in the later life. It means that the economic ability is the primary factor that determines whether they will have a stable life later. Secondly, as for the preference for the senior housing developer type, the group who preferred collectively developed senior congregate housing far outnumbered the other who preferred independent developer type. Also, the group who preferred collective developer type had higher economic ability than that of the other. These results indicate that above all, economic competence is the must significant variable, which should be considered in the future life and residential planning for the elderly. Korean senior congregate housing models should be developed based upon elaborate research. It is also necessary to develop different types of housing, such as a more practical type and a high quality type, as well as to respond to different kinds of developmental objectives, such as marketability and public benefit.
In South Korea, hospital clothes for medical staff, which require high performance and functionality, are still regarded just as uniforms. Few researches have been made into the underwear for operating room staff, which is intended to protect medical staff against possible risks happening during an operation and allow them to do their job in an easy and comfortable manner. In order to present a new design of underwear for operating room staff at general hospitals in South Korea, an investigation was made into medical staff's preference for overseas brand samples, and it was found that they preferred to wear such clothes as are blue-colored, of a V-neck line, of a box style and has good absorptiveness and breathability. After developing the primary prototype and the conventional underwear for operating room staff at Hospital A, their appearances were evaluated, and it was found that the primary prototype was more favorably evaluated. After developing the secondary prototype, their preference for the colors and shapes was surveyed, and it was found that they preferred to wear No.6 blue colors and T/C materials. In conclusion, it is considered that a systematic research need be conducted into the designs of various hospital clothes, whose roles and functions are subdivided, including the underwear for operating room staff developed in this research.

According to the research taken by the National Statistical Office, the fertility rate of a Korean fertile female is 1.17. This figure is the lowest in the world, and the reduction in the fertility rate over the last 30 years was the biggest in the world. It can be seen as a warning alarm about the effects of a low birth rate and a silver society. Assuming that there are several factors involved in this phenomenon, this study inquired into the attitude towards children, attitude towards nourishing children, attitude towards sex roles and the harmony between the jobs and families of married females, and examined the factors that influence the willingness to give birth. Final 581 copies of the survey questionnaire were used for analysis and the collected data were analysed by SPSS, Pearson's correlation analysis, t-test, ANOVA, and Duncan's Multiple Range Test. Three main conclusions were reached: Firstly, the value variables, such as sex-role attitudes and the preference for work or home, affect the willingness to give birth. Therefore, it can be said that one's values have a significant effect on these variables and the willingness to give birth. Secondly, both working morns and housewives have a strong tendency to give a birth if they are supported on child rearing. Finally, the employment of the married women itself can be a variable that can affect childbirth. In other words, the working hours affect employed married women so as sex-role attitudes, the preference between work and home, ideal number of children, and the income to housewives. Also, even in whole married women, the employment itself can be a major factor of the willingness to have a baby. Therefore, unemployed married women have more of a tendency to have children than employed married women.

Purpose: This study was conducted to provide baseline data to develop work patterns for nurses that are suitable to Korean hospitals. Shift work patterns and nurses' preferences for working condition were examined. Methods: Questionnaires for nurse departments and nurses were mailed to 478 hospitals from June 1 to July 30, 2012. Nurse departments of 174 hospitals and 1,409 nurses responded to the questionnaire. Data were analyzed using SPSS statistical program. Results: Of the nurses, 89.4% were working three shifts. Of the hospitals, 17.3% had implemented fixed night work. Although 80% of nurses preferred fixed time work, only 24.9% of hospitals had fixed working hours. Of the nurses, 57% agreed with night work as fixed but potential night nurses accounted for only 17% of the respondents. Sixty-three percent of the nurses agreed on short time work during busy hours. There were preference differences according to age, marital status and clinical career. Conclusion: As many nurses reported a preference for various flexible working patterns rather than three shift work, there is a need for new decisions on hospital policy to ensure improved working conditions for nurses and enhanced job security. Legal requirements also need to be considered for various work patterns.
This study aimed to examine the personality traits of a specific group using color reflection reading (CRR) analysis. An experiment was conducted to examine the color preferences of dental hygienists in a certain community. The color psychology test was conducted with 238 dental hygienists currently employed in dental clinics or hospitals in Gwangju, Jeollanam-do, in the form of a self-administered questionnaire. Participating dental hygienists were differentiated into groups by their order of selection of eight different colors, and the results were analyzed using SPSS 22.0. The analysis results showed that the most common first-, second-, and third-choice colors were magenta, yellow, and magenta, respectively. By age, magenta was the most common first-choice color in all age groups. When the results were analyzed by marital status and the presence or absence of offspring, the same results were obtained. Yellow and blue were the most common second-choice colors for married and unmarried participants, respectively. The findings were expected to provide data for human resource management, such as for developing better working environments that account for stress relief or psychological stability using color preferences or complementary colors.
This study has sought to analyze factors affecting work and work preference of older adults at national and individual level. A few theoretical hypotheses such as economic need versus job opportunity (or employability), attitude toward paid work, pull effect versus push effect were tested for citizens in eighteen OECD countries with International Social Survey dataset(2005) using multi-level analysis. Main findings are as follows. First, most older adults wanted to work regardless of the socio-economic status, which implies that non-work of older adults would be due to involuntary constraint rather than voluntary choice. Second, there existed class inequality in that the higher class tended to involve paid work more than the lower class did among 55-64 age group. Third, the push factor such as part-time employment ratio, rather than the generosity of social security, explained the work and retirement patterns better. In conclusion, at least from the comparative perspective, the main problem of older adults' work seems to be of labour demand rather than of labour supply, to be of labour market structure and work opportunity rather than of the pull factor.
This study aims at revitalization of industrial consignment education and focuses on the development of preferred subjects and teaching methods. The survey was administered to six hundred workers for the local fashion distribution companies for two years between through interview and questionnaire with 13 questions: 3 of them about favorite subjects, 7 about teaching methods, and the rest about whether or not they want to enter a college as well as which certificates and which kinds of job they want to have. The results of the survey can be summarized as follows. 1 The respondents in 2005 who answered to the questions about fashion design and other major subjects show that they preferred the subjects on fashion design to the subject of make-up and that they were interested in the photo-shop subject while they were less interested in the fashion marketing subject. 2 In order to apply what they learn to their own work field, the respondents want practical-work oriented lectures rather than theory centered ones. It means the new teaching program needs the teaching staffs who have had some practical work experiences and majored in the same subjects as the respondents prefer to learn. So it is necessary to take it into consideration that the development of new curriculums should focus on the subjects of practical skill and the experiences of actual work fields. 3 The certificate of 'shop-master' qualification is considered as the most interesting and necessary thing for their job. The respondents show that they are most concerned in a shop-master, manager of a department at department stores related to fashion distribution companies. Therefore, it points out the intensive teaching program for getting the qualification of shop-master is a must in the industrial consignment education.
This study was conducted to analyze factors influencing old people's stress and coping with it. The subjects of this study were 1186 people who lived in 6 cities. The data were collected from September, 2003 to March, 2003. The result of this study can be summarized as follow. 1. 14.3% of the respondents was in good health, while 30.6% of them was not in good health. 11.0% of them had good eyesight and 22.2% had a good sense of hearing. 12.0% of them had good teeth. 2. The level of coping with stress was 59.9 points on the basis 100 points. The level of coping with it actively was highest, while the level of coping with it passively was lowest. 3. Factors which influenced old people's stress were job health condition, leisure activity, smoking, hearing ability, and regular exercise. 4. Factors which affected coping with stress were gender, having meals regularly, smoking, job, vigor, preference of foods, and average pocket money per month. As shown in the above results, the level of old people's stress factors and coping with it were significantly low in the groups of low education level, having less pocket money, living alone, being in bad health, having weak eyesight, having bad sense of hearing, having bad teeth, low satisfaction level with leisure, and having no health behavior. Therefore, the method of decreasing stress factors and coping with it should be developed. The government and related organizations must make great efforts to improve old people's quality of life and increase healthy life expectancy.
This study was aimed to identify the effects of social intelligence and burnout on the turnover intention in nurses as a descriptive study. The data were collected between August 3 and September 1, 2015. A total of 188 nurses working at university medical centers and general hospitals located at J city and D city were participated. The collected data were analyzed using frequency, mean and standard deviation, t-test, ANOVAs, Pearson's correlation coefficients and hierarchical regression analysis. In turnover intention, there were significant differences in education, age, job preference of nurse, work period and position. Burnout showed significant effect in social intelligence and turnover intention. Social intlligence did not have control effect between turnover intention and job burnout. This findings suggested that to prevent the nurse's turnover intention, the education for social information, social skill and social awareness has to be programmed for the development of social intelligence.

This study examines the influence of women's appearance decoration on professional image, preference evaluation, and inferences about age and job. For the purpose of this study, women's appearance decoration was limited to eyeglasses, earrings, hair length, and clothing color. A quasi-experimental method was used for this study. The experimental design was a $3{\times}2{\times}2{\times}4$ (eyeglasses${\times}$earrings${\times}$hair length${\times}$clothing color) factorial design. The model of stimulus photographs was a woman in her late twenties. She wore a tailored collared jacket with a white dress shirt. The subjects were 362 female college students residing in Seoul. The results of the research were as follows. First, the woman wearing glasses and earrings was perceived as more professional than the woman without glasses and earrings. The woman with short hair was evaluated to be more professional than the woman with long hair. Light grey and dark grey jackets enhanced a professional image in the woman than red and dark red jackets. The woman without glasses was preferred more than the woman wearing glasses, and the woman wearing earrings was preferred more than the woman without earrings. Second, the woman wearing wire-rimmed glasses, earrings, and grey jacket with short hair was perceived to have the highest level of professionalism. Third, the subjects perceived the woman wearing wire-rimmed glasses as looking the oldest and the woman without glasses as looking young. The subjects perceived the woman with short hair as looking younger by 3 to 4 years than the woman with long hair. Fourth, the subjects frequently considered the woman wearing the wire-rimmed glasses, the woman with short hair, and the woman wearing the grey jacket as having a professional job.
