  • Cloud computing is a new technology that has adapted to the traditional way of service providing. Service providers are responsible for managing the allocation of resources. Selecting suitable containers and bandwidth for job scheduling has been a challenging task for the service providers. There are several existing systems that have introduced many algorithms for resource allocation. To overcome these challenges, the proposed system introduces an Optimized Task Scheduling Algorithm with Deep Learning (OTS-DL). When a job is assigned to a Cloud Service Provider (CSP), the containers are allocated automatically. The article segregates the containers as' Long-Term Container (LTC)' and 'Short-Term Container (STC)' for resource allocation. The system leverages an 'Optimized Task Scheduling Algorithm' to maximize the resource utilisation that initially inquires for micro-task and macro-task dependencies. The bottleneck task is chosen and acted upon accordingly. Further, the system initializes a 'Deep Learning' (DL) for implementing all the progressive steps of job scheduling in the cloud. Further, to overcome container attacks and errors, the system formulates a Container Convergence (Fault Tolerance) theory with high-level security. The results demonstrate that the used optimization algorithm is more effective for implementing a complete resource allocation and solving the large-scale optimization problem of resource allocation and security issues.

  • In adaptive job allocation method for multiprocessor systems a job is folded, or split in two halves, to fit for an available subcube in order to reduce the waiting time of jobs. In this method, however, since a job is folded whenever a subcube with the proper size is not found, the prolonged execution time caused by job split may override the savings in waiting time, in which case the total adaptive jobs may be increased. In this paper, an improved adaptive job allocation algorithm, called Estimate-fold allocation, Is presented and evaluated. The proposed algorithm estimates the costs and takes the better of two alternatives ; folding right away and waiting until a bigger subcube becomes available. The average total job execution cost of our algorithm is calculated and compared to those of the conventional adaptive, buddy, and gray-code algorithms through simulations. The results shows that our proposed algorithm performs better than others.

  • In this paper, we consider a planning problem arising from printed circuit board manufacturing industries. Given a set of several types of PCBs, component feeders and surface mounting machines in series in a PCB assembly line, the problem is to define the feeder allocation and job sequence with the objective of minimizing the total operation time of the line. We formulate the problem as a mathematical model. And, the problem is proven to be NP-hard, so a genetic algorithm is developed. Finally, we give test results to evaluate the performance of the genetic algorithm.

  • This paper proposes a real-time resource allocation algorithm for minimizing the completion time of overall workflow process. The jobs in a workflow process are interrelated through the precedence graph including Sequence, AND, OR and Loop control structure. A resource should be allocated for the processing of each job, and the required processing time of the job can be varied by the resource allocation decision. Each resource has several inherent restrictions such as the functional, geographical, positional and other operational characteristics. The algorithm suggested in this paper selects an effective resource for each job by considering the precedence constraint and the resource characteristics such as processing time and the inherent restrictions. To investigate the performance of the proposed algorithm, several numerical tests are performed for four different workflow graphs including standard, parallel and two series-parallel structures. In the tests, the solutions by the proposed algorithm are compared with random and optimal solutions which are obtained by a random selection rule and a full enumeration method respectively.

  • We introduce a methodology for the study of the application-level performance of time-sharing parallel jobs on a set of compute nodes in high performance clusters and report our findings. We assume that parallel jobs arriving at a cluster need to share a set of nodes with the jobs of other users, in that they must compete for processor time in a time-sharing manner and other limited resources such as memory and I/O in a space-sharing manner. Under the assumption, we developed a methodology to simulate job arrivals to a set of compute nodes, and gather and process performance data to calculate the percentage slowdown of parallel jobs. Our goal through this study is to identify a better combination of jobs that minimize performance degradations due to resource sharing and contention. Through our experiments, we found a couple of interesting behaviors for overlapped parallel jobs, which may be used to suggest alternative job allocation schemes aiming to reduce slowdowns that will inevitably result due to resource sharing on a high performance computing cluster. We suggest three job allocation strategies based on our empirical results and propose further studies of the results using a supercomputing facility at the San Diego Supercomputing Center.

  • Person characteristics and the perception of organization climate affect on the performances associated with causes of job stress, and may induce various types of human errors. For incidence, a person's adaptation to organizational traits can influence on a person's performance with tasks assigned as well as job satisfaction, a change of occupation, etc. There are several evaluation methods such as an aptitude test to evaluate the suitability of department allocation. However, only person's traits such as an aptitude has been associated with department allocation and job assignment for the personnel management. This paper shows not only an evaluation result on the job-stress of the workers in nuclear power plants (NPPs), but also the relationships between the job-stress and the coincidences of group-personal, team-personal traits. Then, we systematically deduct a basic information on the factors to be considered to manage the organizational traits and job stress. We expect this result can contribute to enhance the organizational management against to the human errors as well as for the promotion of safety and efficiency of NPPs.

  • In the shared-memory mutiprocessor systems, shared processing techniques such as time-sharing, space¬sharing, and gang-scheduling are used to improve the overall system utilization for the parallel operations. Recently, LLPC(Loop-Level Process Control) allocation technique was proposed. It dynamically adjusts the needed number of processors for the execution of the parallel code portions based on the current system load in the given job. This method allocates as many available processors as possible, and does not save any processors for the parallel sections of other later-arriving applications. To solve this problem, in this paper, we propose a new processor allocation technique called FPA(Fuzzy Processor Allocation) that dynamically adjusts the number of processors by fuzzifYing the amounts ofueeded number of processors, loads, and estimated execution times of job. The proposed method provides the maximum possibility of the parallism of each job without system overload. We compare the performances of our approaches with the conventional results. The experiments show that the proposed method provides a better performance.

  • To achieve the efficient performance within a mobile grid considering the intermittent network connectivity and non-dedicated heterogeneous mobile devices, this paper suggests the scheduling algorithm of job allocation as a viable solution. The suggested scheduling algorithm has two core functions, the prediction of response time for task processing and the identification of the optimal number of mobile devices to process the mobile grid applications. This scheduling algorithm suggests the numerical formulas to calculate the network latency considering the effects of heterogeneous non-dedicated mobile system in wireless network environments. Also we evaluate the performance of mobile grid system using the processing the distributed applications in implemented mobile grid environments.
