Development of Lightweight Piezo-composite Curved Actuator (곡면형 압전 복합재료 작동기 LIPCA 개발)

  • This paper is concerned with the development, and performance test of LIPCA (Lightweight Piezo-composite Curved Actuator) that is lighter than other conventional piezo-composite type actuators. LIPCA is composed of top fiber composite layers with a high modulus and low CTE (Coefficient of Thermal Expansion), a middle PZT cermaic wafer, and base layers with a high modulus and high CTE. The performance of each actuator was evaluated using an actuator test system consisting of an actuator supporting jig, a high voltage actuating power supplier, and a non-contact laser measuring system. The simply supported condition actuator was excited by the power supplier with 1.0Hz cycle and up to $100\sim400V_{pp}$. The displacement at the center point of actuator was measured with non-contact laser displacement measuring system, It has been shown that the LIPCA-C2 can 34% decrease in mass and 13% increase in displacement compared to THUNDER.

  • There are many unbalanced models such as helicopter's rotor blades, small-sized precision motor in industrial applications. In the real products, their gravity center usually does not accord with the desired gravity center. If the deviation is large between them, it can be a major cause of vibration and noise as the part of model rotate. Therefore the gravity center in the rotational parts should be controlled properly because of static and dynamic balancing of the parts. In the research, the rotor blade of unmanned helicopter has been selected to obtain the high quality of balancing. In order to achieve the purpose, measuring system has been developed. In the system applied principle is three point weighting method, which is one of the Multiple-point Weighting Method. It has circle fitting for compensation of machining error, after measuring the values. From this study, the results showed that the proposed measurement procedure gives reliable and precise gravity center.

The main factor and counterplan for marine casualties of fishing vessel according to the type of fishing gear in Korea (업종별 어선 해양사고의 원인과 대책)

  • Marine casualties originated from fishing vessels occupied about 71.2% of the whole marine casualties in Korea from 2008 to 2014, which has not changed much for a long time. Therefore, a pragmatic counterplan to decrease in casualties in fishing vessel is indispensable for reduction of marine casualties in Korea. Since the casualties occurred by fishing vessels may incline to a specific type of casualties according to the difference in the operating type; in this paper, 11 fishing types which occurred casualties frequently in numbers and occupied ratio were selected. Since the most frequent occurring casualties in fishing vessels were from collisions and fire explosion in statistics from KMST (2008~2014), the study focused on them. The collision is given a great deal of weight in all the casualties mostly due to the negligence of duty regardless of the job types. Gill netter, trap fishing boat, jig boat, multiple fishing boat and stow netter have their own specific causes of casualties in collision according to the operating types. The cause of fire explosion was mainly due to poor inspection and maintenance the electric cord. For this reason, it may be necessary for an operator to make strict precaution on the other vessels under way systematically, keep the regulation for preventing collisions, and for an engineer on watch to make a check the electricity periodically to reduce the fire explosion.

Analysis of Postoperative Complications in Blepharoptosis (안검하수 교정술 후 생긴 합병증 분석)

  • Purpose: Many researches about various surgical method for blepharoptosis have already been introduced. But researches for complications after blepharoptosis correction is relatively insufficient. So, this study was performed to recognize common complications that arised depending on the severity of blepharoptosis, levator function and surgical method. Methods: 250 patients who have underwent surgical treatment for blepharoptosis from 1987 to 2006 were employed in this study. Patients were categorized by severity of blepharoptosis, levator function and surgical method that has been used. Complications after blepharoptosis correction were analyzed. Result: Total of 64 patients had occurred complications, the specifics are as following; undercorrection 22, asymmetry 13, overcorrection 12, lagophthalmos 4, abnormal eyelid contour 4, exposure keratitis 3, ectropion 2, inclusion cyst 2, infection 1 and conjunctival prolapse 1. Among above patients, 3 patients had two kinds of complications. 21 patients was underwent secondary surgery due to complication. Conclusion: Evaluating the outcomes of the secondary surgery, the early correction was better than the late correction. The most of the complications were recovered through conservative and surgical treatments. The most of the complications (47 patients) were undercorrection, asymmetry, overcorrection and took 73.4% of the total complications. The more severe the blepharoptosis and the more poor the levator function, the rate of complications were higher. According to the operation methods, most complications were occurred in levator operation, frontalis transfer and OOM flap.

  • On the bending process, metal-strap plays an important role in dispersing the stress generated in wood. Therefore, the metal-strap has more influence on the property of bentwood materials. The effect of the metal-strap thickness for bentwood was examined. The effect of metal-strap on the bending properties of Korean red pine(Pinus densiflora Sieb. et Zucc.)was investigated in this research. The metal-strap thickness is divided into 4 kinds such as 1.0, 0.8, 0.6, 0.4 mm. The specimens were selected by grain such as annual ring angles, flat grain and half-edge grain specimens. As a result of this study, the bending ability of 1.0, 0.8 mm, thickness of half-edge grain specimens was better than flat grain specimens but the result of 0.6, 0.4 mm were reversed. The bending ability of half-edge grain was better than flat grain and the grade was higher. When the processed specimens were dried, the radius of curvature(ROC) was decreased became drying-stress was not perfectly dispersed. An optimum drying-condition would deminish this phenomenon.

  • In this study, it was carried out separation process research and development to be able to produce high-grade tungsten concentrate form tungsten taken form Mongolia. In order to reduce treatment cost and increase separation efficiency the jig separation at first was applied for recovering the concentrate. Which reground would make the degree of liberation increase. Which was treated by shaking table to reject the gangue minerals from the first concentrate. Because the heavier product contains not only ferberite but also cassiterite, the product was treated by further dry magnetic separation to obtain the ferberite concentrate. Finally, the high-grade ferberite concentrate of 67.63% $WO_3$ could be obtained with recovery of 86.07% through the separation process developed in this study.

  • This paper describes development of a non-explosive separation device which can be equipped on small satellites. The spur geared micro DC motor, which has high reliability and advantage of price, is adopted as an actuator. The proposed separation device has resettability and it does not need extra jig to reload. In addition, the simple structure makes it easy to fabricate and assemble. To verify the performance of the proposed device, the response time tests, maximum preload tests and maximum shock level tests were performed. Also, through the vibration tests and thermal vacuum tests, feasibility of the proposed separation device was shown in launching and space environments. Therefore, we expect that the proposed separation device can replace the imported separation devices in near future.

  • Recently the interest in permanent magnet alternating motor using for electric compressor become great. Especially the research on Interior Permanent Magnet Motor has been doing actively for its advantages in the energy density and the efficiency. In order to control the output of motor to the desired value, the current control or speed control of motor are required. The accurate detection of rotor position and speed information are necessary for the control of motor. In general, the encoder, hall sensor, and resolver are used to obtain the information of motor position and speed and the speed detection algorithm, M/T method, is applied. However, the M/T method causes the error depending on rotor speed. Therefore, this M/T speed detection method is not perfect. In this paper, it is proposed that the PI control with a 1st transfer function and the integration element between velocity and position are composed in series and this feeds back to the reference value of position angle. The proposed algorithm is a function of the integral elements 2nd term, speed element, is used as an output. Thus, it is possible to detect the correct speed by configuring like the mechanical structure similarly. The proposed algorithm is verified by using PSIM DLL and is applied to the BLAC motor drive. And also it is confirmed that this system estimates the accurate speed regardless of rotor speed changes. As a example, the experimental results and simulations shows that the proposed method is very effective.

High Speed Tensile Tests of Steel Sheets for an Auto-body at the Intermediate Strain Rate (중변형률 속도에서의 차체용 강판의 고속 인장실험)

  • This paper introduces a newly developed high speed material testing apparatus for tensile tests at the strain rate up to 500/sec. The tensile properties of sheet metals are indispensable for the accurate crashworthiness analysis of auto-bodies since the local strain rate reaches to 500/sec in the car crash. An appropriate experimental method has to be developed to acquire the tensile properties at the intermediate strain rate ranged from 0.003/sec to 200/sec. Tensile tests of various different steel sheets for an auto-body were perform ed to obtain the dynamic properties with respect to the strain rate. The dimensions of specimens that can provide the reasonable results were determined by the finite element analysis. A special jig fixture of a load cell is designed to reduce the load ringing phenomenon induced by unstable stress propagation at the high strain rate. Stress-strain curves were acquired for each steel sheet from the dynamic tensile test and utilized to obtain the relationship of the stress to the strain rate.

  • The stirred and thixoformed $SiC_p/AZ91HP$ Mg composites are studied on the basis of microstructural analysis using transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The products of interfacial reaction are identified as $Mg_2Si$, MgO and $Mg_{17}Al_{12}$ phases and the crystallized phases are found to be orthorhmbic $Al_6Mn$ and decagonal T phases. It is shown that $Mg_2Si$ and $Mg_{17}Al_{12}$ phases are found at the surface of $SiC_p$ and $Al_6Mn$ is found near interface and crystallized on the matrix. Phase identification is carried out by crystallographic work based on primitive cell volume, zero order Laue zone (ZOLZ) patterns and single convergent beam electron diffraction (CBED) patterns containing higher order Laue zone ring from a nanosized region.
