Chitosan (deacetylated form of chitin) possesses strong antibacterial activities such as antimicrobial effect, antifungal effect and the induction of plant defense response. Chitosan itself, however, has high molecular weight and viscosity as well as water-insolubility, These natures may restrict applications in various fields, especially in in vivo system. While the hydrolysates of chitosan, chitooligosaccharides (COS) are not only lower in the molecula. weight and viscosity, but also water-soluble. Thus, they would be expected more efficient absorption in vivo. Besides several documents have been reported antibacterial activities of COS against microorganisms (Kendra et al., 1989; Uchida et al., 1989). (omitted)

Collagenases are generally defined as enzymes capable of degrading the polypeptide backbone of native collagen under conditions which do not denature the protein. Two types of proteases with collagenolytic activity have been reported and thought to play different physiological functions. Metallo-collagenases, firstly discovered in tadpole tissue explants are zinc-containing enzymes requiring calcium for optimum activity and stability, and These enzymes have been widely studied from various mammalian tissues as well as from bacteria, such as Bacillus cereus, Clostridium histolyticum, Achromobacter, Vibrio alginolyticus and Clostridium perfringens and snake venoms. The shell of Reeve's turtle has been used as a traditional folk medicine in Korea. We produced a hot water extract from Reeve's turtle shell according to the traditional medical practice. To release bioactive peptides, the hot water extract was enzymatically hydrolyzed with various proteases, and the free radical scavenging activity of the hydrolysate was investigated against 1,1-diphenyl-2-picryl-hydrazyl (DPPH), hydroxyl and peroxyl radicals. The free radical scavenging activity of the enzymatic hydrolysates varied from 1 to 79% depending on the enzymes, free radical species, and concentration. The $EC_{50}$ values demonstrated that the enzymatic hydrolysates of hot water extract from the shell of Reeve's turtle are potential antioxidants.

In recent years, due to the continuous concentration of population and sharp increment of commuters around Seoul metropolitan area, traffic jam has become one of severe problems along with housing in this area. In oder to solve the problem like the one mentioned above, several countries such as Japan, France and so on gradually operate double deck trains as efficient, reliable and comfortable mass transportation systems. However, the double deck train has weak points such as big cross sectional area and high mass center that cause unsafe vehicle running performances and interface problems between the vehicles and infrastructures. Therefore, prior to operate double deck trains on the existing lines, careful investigations should be performed. For these reasons, we have investigated foreign double deck trains and studied the technologies for a double deck train as an alternative way to carry heavy transportation efficiently and comfortably.

It is the urgent task of induce the inhabitants to utilize the public transportation instead of the personal transportation to dissolve the traffic jam. But construction of the subway, the representative substitute means, demands a great of investment expense including various kinds of expenses. So the technical development and research of standardization of FRT(Fuel cell Rubber tired Train), the eco-friendly public transportation system low in construction expenses, effective, excellent in approach as well as in traffic, are propelled positively. This project wants to propose exterior design FRT in which original creative methods are utilized with the target of development and construction of FRT which coincide with anthropocentric eco-friendly traffic system. Utilizing the proposed style as the basic materials, this project wants to grasp difficulties, and to establish the way to solve and develop them.

The operation of double deck train have increased in many countries such as Japan france, and the Netherlands as efficient, safe and convenient alternative transportation systems. Because of continuous concentration of population into Seoul metropolitan and serious traffic jam, the number of passengers using the commuter train have been increased rapidly. Considering these situations, we can find one of the solutions for heavy traffic problems through double deck trains. Stainless steel, and aluminum extruded panel are used to reduce the weight of double deck train. In this paper we compare the results of structural analysis of the double deck car body structures with Al extruded panels and stainless steel. We hope the results of this study may be used as basic guidelines in designing double deck trains in the future.

When we construct a road near an apartment complex, we consider a soundproof wall. To make residential places quieter, we may consider a soundproof road tunnel. Such a tunnel, however, would become highly concentrated with soot from vehicles whenever a traffic jam might occur. To create an optimum design, this study utilizes the PHOENICS-VR software. The work considers three cases: (1) no openings (2) openings at 30m intervals, and (3) openings at 60m intervals on the upper side of the tunnel. The study finds that in the second case shows CO concentration distributions were 15% less than those without openings. And the CO concentration distributions of the second and third cases are almost the same. The findings suggest that we should make the soundproof tunnel to reduce construction fees.

향후 IMT2000 에서도 사용가능한 자바 플랫폼을 기반으로 하는 마이크로브라우저를 설계하기 위해서는 썬마이크로시스템즈에서 제공하는 J2ME 의 기술인 CLDC 와 이를 좀 더 구체적으로 하는 MIDP 를 이용해서 플랫폼을 설계한다. 그리고 무선 인터넷 환경에 적합한 WAP를 마이크로브라우저로 사용한다. MIDP를 사용하기 위해서는 JAM을 이용해 애플리케이션을 관리할 수 있다.
