Reduction of structure-borne noise in the compartment of a car is an important task in automotive engineering. Many methods which analyze noise transfer path have been generally used for structure-borne noise. These methods are useful in solving particular problem but do not quantify the effectiveness of vibration isolation for each isolator of a vehicle. To quantify the effectiveness of vibration isolation, the vibrational power flow measurement has been used for a simple isolation system or a laboratory based isolation system. This paper identifies the transfer path of booming noise in a SUV. The powertrain used for test has a in-line 4cylinder engine and 5-shift auto-transmission. This powertrain is transversely supported by four isolators. We calculated the energy flow throughout four isolator by the measurement of power flow and the contribution of energy flow at each isolator.

Previous earthquakes show that, structural safety evaluations should include the evaluation of nonstructural components. Failure of nonstructural components can affect the operational capacity of critical facilities, such as hospitals and fire stations, which can cause an increase in number of deaths. Additionally, failure of nonstructural components may result in economic, architectural, and historical losses of community. Accelerations and random vibrations must be under the predefined limitations in structures with high technological equipment, data centers in this case. Failure of server equipment and anchored server racks are investigated in this study. A probabilistic study is completed for a low-rise rigid sample structure. The structure is investigated in two versions, (i) conventional fixed-based structure and (ii) with a base isolation system. Seismic hazard assessment is completed for the selected site. Monte Carlo simulations are generated with selected parameters. Uncertainties in both structural parameters and mechanical properties of isolation system are included in simulations. Anchorage failure and vibration failures are investigated. Different methods to generate fragility curves are used. The site-specific annual hazard curve is used to generate risk curves for two different structures. A risk matrix is proposed for the design of data centers. Results show that base isolation systems reduce the failure probability significantly in higher floors. It was also understood that, base isolation systems are highly sensitive to earthquake characteristics rather than variability in structural and mechanical properties, in terms of accelerations. Another outcome is that code-provided anchorage failure limitations are more vulnerable than the random vibration failure limitations of server equipment.
The new seismic isolation system (StLRB) is developed, which can separate non-seismic displacements which come from the thermal expansion etc. in LRB design. The StLRB has 3 components, sliding system (PTFE + stainless plate), LRB (lead rubber bearing) and STU (shock transmit units). In this project, the StLRB is designed to apply to the bridge structure by analyzing the characteristics of each component and also the dynamic behavior of the structure was analyzed by non-linear analysis. The verification test was performed to show the two stages separated by STU units. Test results show the effectiveness of both the separation and the seismic isolation performance.
Using the physics-based model for the vibration isolation system, the model uncertainties are described. With the model including parameter perturbations, the robust controller to meet the robust performance and stability is designed through $\mu$-synthesis by DK-iteration. The order of controller is reduced by virtue of Hankel norm approximation technique to allow the efficient implementation in the real-time experimental environment without any performance degradation. The performance of the reduced $\mu$-controller is accessed in comparison with the original one. The experiments validate the superiority of the proposed control scheme against the model uncertainties and its applicability with varying payload.

Base isolation is an innovative design strategy that provides a practical alternative for the seismic design of structures. Base isolators, mainly employed to isolate large structures subjected to earthquake ground excitations and to rehabilitate structures damaged by past earthquakes, deflect and absorb the seismic energy horizontally transmitted to the structures. This study demonstrated that the base isolation system may offer effective performance for bridges during severe seismic events through shaking table tests. Two base isolation systems using laminated rubber bearings with and without hydraulic dampers are tested. The test results strongly show that the laminate rubber bearings cause the natural period of the bridge structure increased considerably, which results in the deck acceleration and the shear forces on the deck acceleratino and the shear forces on the piers reduced significantly. The results also demonstrate that the hydraulic dampers enhance the system's capacity in dissipating energy to reduce the relative displacement between the bridge deck and the pier.
Fault Detection and Isolation(FDI) schemes using unknown input functional observers with very low order are presented. These schemes resolve the major practical difficulties with all FDI systems employing multiple observers for residual generation and can be implemented by the use of microprocessors that are normally used in commercial processes mainly due to the simplicity of the residual generation block. Various design objectives including detection, isolation, estimation and compensation of instrument fault/or process fault are achievable with these schemes. The proposed FDI scheme is applied to an inverted pendulum control system for instrument fault detection.
The seismic isolation technology has appeared to be increasingly necessary for highway brides LNG tank nuclear power plant and building structures in view of recent frequent earthquake vibrations in Korea. Also high-technology industries required effective seismic protection. The LRB(Lead Rubber Bearing) systen has been counted as the most effective way for seismic isolation which is now under development and widely used in industries. Hear the commercial FEM software for nonlinear analysis MARC has provided force-displacement curves on the rubber system. The analysis has been carried out about four cases ; 29.5mm and 59mm horizontal dislacements with/without a center hole. The unknown constants of the strain energy function of Ogden model have been obtained by a tension test,
