  • A total internal reflection (TIR) linear lens of size $190(W){\times}5(D){\times}2.1(H)mm^3$ has a directivity of $25^{\circ}$ and was made of a polydimethysiloxane (PDMS) silicone resin with a refractive index of 1.4 and a transmittance of 93% at 365 nm UV wavelength. A light source with a size of $190{\times}25.5mm^2$ was fabricated by installing a TIR linear lens on a chip on board (COB) type LED module mounted with a $1.1{\times}1.1mm^2$ size UV LED. The optical characteristics of the light source showed a maximum irradiation density of $3,840mW/cm^2$ at a working distance of 5 mm and a high uniformity of 91.6% over a $150{\times}25mm^2$ irradiation area. The thermal characteristics of the light source were measured at a supply current of 500 mA. The saturation temperature was reached after 30 min of operation, and measured to be $95^{\circ}C$.

  • GLONASS, a satellite navigation system developed in Russia since 1976, is defunct and orbits in an unstable attitude. The satellites in these problems are not managed and there is no precise information, which can increase the risk of collisions with other space objects. In this study, detailed attitude dynamic have to be analyzed through photometry data, which requires spin period and spin axis. The light curve data is obtained by observing through the photometer at the Graz station and the power spectrum is calculated to obtain the cycle of the satellite. The geometric relationship between observer and sun is analyzed for GLONASS-50 satellite. The box-wing model is applied to obtain the phase reflection of the satellite and obtain the Irradiation of the satellite through this information. In Light Curve and Irradiation, the spin axis is calculated for each peak points with the distance square minimum technique. The spin axis of the GLONASS-50 satellite is RA = 116°, Dec = 92°.

  • Stereotactic radiotherapy is required to irradiate a small tumor accurately. The radiotherapy showing improves when making an accidental error little boundlessly. It is performed according to treatment planning that is established by the outside landmark of head. At present, when stereotactic radiotherapy for a head is done, the Leksell Flame is fixed on the head, and positioning based on the point and so on which it is in that fixed implement is performed. However, there are problems on the method done at present in the point such as reappearance when the fractionated irradiation method in which the Leksell Flame is removed and installed at every treatment is done because there are landmarks outside the head. Landmarks in the skull were decided, and that precision was examined for the purpose of the improvement of the radiation therapeutic gain. Linac-graphy with longitudinal and lateral view were taken with 6 MV photon beams. A distance to base point inside the skull, each film measured the angle from a center of the small irradiation field, and comparison was done. From the results, a large accidental error wasn't seen as a result of the measurement by every film. Stereotactic radiotherapy for a head treatment had an accidental error of about several millimeters when treatment positioning was done. Therefore, it was thought that there was no problem about an accidental error to arise by putting a landmark in the skull. And, because an accidental error was easy to discover, we thought that modification could be done easily. It was suggested that a landmark in the skull on thus study were useful for improvement of stereotactic radiotherapy.

  • The improvement of irradiation intensity and irradiation uniformity is essential for large area and high power UVA light source application. In this study, large number of chips bonded by micro soldering technique were driven by low current, and current limiting diodes were configured to supply constant current to parallel circuits consisting of large number of series strings. The dimension of light source module circuit board was $350{\times}90mm^2$ and 16,650 numbers of 385 nm flip chip LEDs were used with a configuration of 90 parallel and 185 series strings. The space between LEDs in parallel and series strings were maintained at 1.9 mm and 1.0 mm distance, respectively. The size of the flip chip was $750{\times}750{\mu}m^2$ were used with contact pads of $260{\times}669{\mu}m^2$ size, and SAC (96.5 Sn/3.0 Ag/0.5 Cu) solder was used for flip chip bonding. The fabricated light source module with 7.5 m A supply current showed temperature rise of $66^{\circ}C$, whereas irradiation was measured to be $300mW/cm^2$. Inaddition, 0.23% variation of the constant current in each series string was demonstrated.

  • The intrauterine irradiation is essential to achieve adequate tumor dose to central tumor mass of uterine malignancy in radiotherapy. The complications of pelvic organ are known to be directly related to radiation dose and physical parameters. The simulation radiation and medical records of 203 patients who were treated with intrauterine irradiation from Feb. 1983 to Oct. 1983, were critically analized. The physical parameters to include distances between lateral walls of vaginal fornices, longitudinal and lateral angles of tandem applicator to the body axis, the distance from the external os of uterine cervix to the central axis of ovoids were measured for low dose rate irradiation system and high dose rate remote control afterloading system. The radiation doses and dose distributions within cervical area including interesting points and bladder, rectum, according to sources arrangement and location of applicator, were estimated with personal computer. Followings were summary of study results ; 1. In distances between lateral walls of vaginal fornices, the low dose rate system showed as $4\~7cm$ width and high dose rate system showed as $5\~6cm$. 2. In horizontal angulation of tandem to body axis, the low dose rate system revealed mid position$64.6\%$, left deviation $19.2\%$and right deviation $16.2\%$. 3. • This experiment was performed to study the morphological responses of the pigment epithelial cell and the Bruch's membrane of the retina of rat following X-ray irradiation. Male rats were divided into normal and experimental groups. The heads of the rats, under sodium thiopental anesthesia, were exposed to 3,000 rads or 6,000 rads of radiation in a single dose, respectively. The source was a Mitsubishi Linear Accelerator ML-4MV. The target to skin distance was 80cm, and the. dose rate was 200 rads/min. The experimental groups were sacrificed on the 6th hour, 2nd and 6th day after X-ray irradiation. Under anesthesia, 1% glutaraldehyde-1% paraformaldehyde solution(0.1M Millonig's phosphate buffer, pH 7.3) was perfused through the left ventricle and ascending aorta. Pieces of the tissue taken from the posterior region of the retina were fixed in 2.5% glutaraldehyde-1.5% paraformaldehyde(0.1M Millonig's phosphate buffer, pH 7.3) and 1% osmium tetroxide(0.1M Millonig's phosphate buffer, pH7.3), and embedded in araldite mixture. The ultrathin sections contrasted with uranyl acetate and lead citrate were observed with JEM 100 CX-II electron microscope. The results were as follow; 1. The morphological changes of the pigment epithelial cells were not pronounced after exposure to 3,000 rads of X-ray. But on the 6th hour after exposure to 6,000 rads of X-ray, bulging nuclear membrane protruding into the cytoplasm and nuclear chromatin clumped into numerous masses along the nuclear membrane were observed. At the 2nd and 6th day post-irradiation, partial cytolysis or necrosis were seen. 2. The thickness of the Bruch's membrane of the experimental groups were increased in the time and dose range covered by this study, and splitting or diffusing basal laminae of the choriocapillary layer were observed frequently in the experimental group. Above results suggest that large amount(6,000 rads) of head irradiation induce direct hazardous effects on the pigment epitherial cells and Bruch's membrane of the retina of the rat, but pigment epithelial cells are more radioresistant than Bruch's membrane.

  • The treatment of X-ray was manipulated with the large focus of X-ray which was produced the capacity of 90 kilovoltage and 30 milliamphere in the distance of 50 centimeter. The germination of each gruop irradiated with X-ray for 5, 6, and 7 seconds was more delayed in the growth of carrot seed than those of the control group. However the germination of each group irradiated with X-ray for 2, 3, and 4 seconds was rather accelerated than those of the control group. The irradiation of ultraviolet light was carried out in the distance of 20 centimeter by Toshiba germidicial lamp which appeared the wavelength of 2537A$^{\circ}$. The germination of each group irradiated with ultraviolet light for 9, 15, 20, and 40 minutes was more delayed than those of the control group, but the germination of carrot seed was accelerated by adequate dosage of ultraviolet light. Consuquently it was suggested for the author that the inhibited substance contained in carrot seed would be certain fatty substance, becasue the germination of carrot seed was more accelerated by the treatment of acetone than those of X-ray and ultraviolet light.

  • This study has been numerically conducted to investigate the removal efficiency of Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) for different photocatalytic honeycomb filters. Recently, the photocatalysis is being applied to air-cleaner, air-conditioner and vacuum-cleaner with the capability of air-purification, sterilization and antibiosis. However, photocatalysis is less efficient than other methods for removing VOC except in the case of low concentration. So far most of studies have focused on an improvement of the photocatalytic materials, but this study have placed emphasis on the improvements of shape of photocatalytic honeycomb filter. UV irradiation, concentration profile and pressure drop have been investigated for different cross sections of filters and for different filter lengths. Light intensity is dropped sharply with increasing distance from the UV-lamp, and becomes very low in the middle of the filters. Since photocatalytic reaction rate is a function of light intensity, VOC concentration gradient might be small in the middle of long filters. Thus, most of reaction have risen within only three times of dimensionless axial distance. These results can be used effectively for the design of advanced photocatalytic honeycomb filters.

  • In today's technological development of human society more and more influence on the lives of biological organisms different electromagnetic radiation. Therefore, the study and analysis of the mechanisms of their effects is an urgent task. The purpose of research - the study of the primary mechanisms of interaction of photons of optical radiation with the structures of biological objects, using the laws of quantum mechanics and biophysics. Photobiological basis of the mechanism of action of EMR optical range is the energy absorption of light quanta (photons) by atoms and molecules of biological structures (law Grotgus-Draper), which resulted in the formation of electronically excited states of these molecules with the transfer of photon energy (internal photoeffect). This is accompanied by electrolytic dissociation and ionization of biological molecules. The degree of manifestation of photobiological effects in the body depends on the intensity of the optical radiation, which is inversely proportional to the square of the distance from the source to the irradiated surface. Accordingly, in practice, determine not the intensity and irradiation dose at a certain distance from the source of exposure by the exposure time.
