Evaluation Methods and Design for Bioartificial Liver Based on Perfusion Model

  • A bioartificial liver (BAL) is a medical device entrapping living hepatocytes or immortalized cells derived from hepatocytes. Many efforts have already been made to maintain the functions of the hepatocytes in a BAL device over a long term. However, there is still some uncertainty as to their efficacy. and their limitations are unclear. Therefore, it is important to quantitatively evaluate the metabolic functions of a BAL. In previous studies on in vitro BAL devices, two test methods, an initial bolus loading and constant-rate infusion plus initial bolus loading, were theoretically carried out to obtain physiologic data on drugs. However, in the current study, the same two methods were used as a perfusion model and derived the same clearance characterized by an interrelationship between the perfusate flow rate and intrinsic clearance. The interrelationship indicated that the CL increased with an increasing perfusate flow rate and approached its maximum value, i.e. intrinsic clearance. In addition, to set up an in vivo BAL system, the toxic plateau levels in the BAL system were calculated for both series and parallel circuit models. The series model had a lower plateau level than the parellel model. The difference in the toxic plateau levels between the parallel and series models increased with an increasing number of BAL cartridges.

  • The purposes of this study were to compare abductor hallucis (AbdH) muscle activity during toe curl exercise according to position of interphalangeal joint (IPJ). Fifteen healthy subjects with neutral foot were recruit for this study. All subjects performed toe curl exercise with towel while maintaining the IPJ in flexion (condition 1) and extension (condition 2). Toe curl exercise with towel was perform three trials for five second periods in each condition. Surface electromyography (EMG) activities were recorded from three muscles (AbdH, tibialis anterior, peroneous longus) in each condition. EMG activity was normalized to the value of maximal voluntary isometric contraction (%MVIC). The EMG activities acoording to position of IPJ were compared using a paired t-test. This study showed that the EMG activity of AbdH during toe curl exercise with IPJ extension significantly increased compared to those during toe curl exercise with IPJ flexion (p<.05). However, the EMG activity of tibialis anterior and peroneus longus were not significantly different between the conditions (p>.05). These results suggest that toe curl exercise with towel must be performed with extension of IPJ in order to strengthen intrinsic muscle in subjects with overuse injuries related to excessive pronation.

Advanced SIMD를 이용한 화면 간 예측 고속화방법 (Acceleration Method of Inter Prediction using Advanced SIMD)

  • 본 논문에서는 ARM Cortex-A9 듀얼코어 플랫폼에서 지원하는 병렬처리 기법 중 하나인 Advanced SIMD기반의 NEON을 적용한 H.264/AVC 고속화 움직임추정 방법론을 연구하였다. 다양한 움직임추정 방법 중 하나인 전역탐색기법에 NEON을 적용하여 각 매크로블록의 SAD 연산횟수를 1/4 감소시켰다. 해당 매크로블록의 픽셀 값들을 8개의 16bit NEON 레지스터에 할당하였고, NEON에서 지원하는 Intrinsic 함수를 사용하여 동시에 128bit 연산을 수행하였다. 이러한 방법으로 계산된 SAD 값들 중 최소 SAD 값을 가지고 정확한 모션벡터를 선정했다. 그 결과 영상의 크기 및 매크로블록의 크기에 따라 성능이 평균 30% 이상 향상되는 효과를 검증하였다.

  • 본 연구에서는 비디오게임 이용자가 인식하는 내적 및 외적 동기부여와 몰입이 게임 충성도에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 수행되었다. 또한 이러한 관계에서 몰입이 실제로 매개역할을 수행하는지도 확인해 보도록 하였다. 기존 연구를 토대로 설문지를 작성하여 분석에 필요한 설문결과를 취합하여 이를 기반으로 연구결과를 확인해 보았다. 실증분석 결과 게임 이용자의 내적 동기부여 및 외적 동기부여는 게임 충성도에 유의한 영향을 미치고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 여기에 몰입이라는 매개변수가 매개효과를 발휘하고 있음도 확인하였다. 다만 외적 동기부여는 내적 동기부여보다 영향력이 높지 않음을 아울러 확인할 수 있었다. 향후 가상현실 게임이나 기능성 게임 등의 발전에 본 연구에서 제시한 사용자의 내재적 가치변화에 관한 부분을 적용해 볼 수 있을 것이다.

가치소비 웨딩문화의 웨딩드레스 디자인 요소 분석 (Analysis on wedding dress design factor align with value consumption wedding culture)

  • Recently people are trying to lead their life with meaning and value, and people are oriented to value consumption as the values they pursue can be realized through consumption. Consumer demand on value consumption had an effect on Korean wedding culture and 'value consumption wedding culture' which emphasizes the value of marriage, is on the rise as a new wedding custom. Accordingly, Korean wedding market is more segmented and diversified for individual customization to create value. Especially, wedding dress evidently reflects the tendency of value consumption as it gives special meaning for brides. As a result, suggestion and development of detailed design elements of wedding dress to meet the various needs of customers are needed. Therefore, this study has the purpose of investigating the required value of wedding dress aligned with the characteristics of value consumption wedding culture through in-depth interviews and how the intrinsic value of consumers is shown up to a particular design element through investigating on the relationships between design elements. In addition, the study provides a direction for specialized and high-valued wedding dress design development by suggesting wedding dress design aligned with the new trend based on the analysis of detailed design elements that reflects the value.

A Comparative Study of Two Different SnO2:F-coated Glass Substrates for CdTe Solar Cells

  • Two different fluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO)-coated glass substrates were investigated to find better suitability for CdTe solar cells. Substrate A consisted of FTO (300 nm)/$SiO_2$ (24 nm)/intrinsic $SnO_2$ (30 nm)/borosilicate glass (2.2 mm), and substrate B consisted of FTO (700 nm)/intrinsic $SnO_2$ (30nm)/borosilicate glass (1.8 mm). The overall thickness of the FTO/glass substrates was about 2.5 mm. The total light transmittance of substrate B was much higher than that of substrate A throughout the whole spectral region, even though the thickness of the FTO in substrate B was twice larger than that of the FTO in the substrate A. The short-circuit current greatly increased in substrate B and the external quantum efficiency (EQE) increased over the whole wavelength range. This study shows that the diffuse optical transmittance played a key role in the large EQE value in the blue wavelength region, and the direct transmittance played a key role in the large EQE value in the red wavelength region. The higher transmittance is due to the rough surface generated by the thicker FTO on glass. The conversion efficiency of the CdTe solar cell increased from 12.4 to 15.1% in combination of rough FTO substrate and Cu solution back contact.

단회(單回) 및 분획(分劃) X선(線) 조사(照射)가 가토(家兎)의 간(肝) 및 폐조직(肺組織)의 NP-SH 및 NP-SS에 미치는 영향(影響) (Effect of Single or Fractionated X-Irradiation on the NP-SH and NP-SS of Rabbit Liver and Lung Tissues)

  • In view of the importance of sulfhydryl groups in producing a chemical protection against ionizing radiation, an attempt was made to evaluate the changes of intrinsic non-protein sulfhydryl (NP-SH) and non-Protein disulfide(NP-SS) of the lung and liver tissues of rabbits following the whole body X-irradiation with 900 r either in single or fractionated $(300\;r{\times}3)$ dose. NP-SH was measured by Ellman's method, and NP-SS was measured by the electrolytic reduction method described by Dohan. Experiment was performed at 1,3,5,24 and 48 hours post·irradiation, and the results were compared with the control. The results thus obtained are summarized as follows; 1) Intrinsic levels of NP-SH and NP-SS of normal rabbits were $0.77{\pm}0.10$ and $0.61{\pm}0.07\;{\mu}mol/gm$ wet weight in liver, and $0.28{\pm}0.03$ and $0.54{\pm}0.03$ in lung tissues respectively. 2) NP-SH of liver after single X-irradiation showed no significant change in general, but at 48 hours post·irradiation, it was elevated comparing with the normal value. 3) Levels of NP-SS in liver was decreased than the normal value in the irradiated groups, and the lowest level was observed at 3 hours after single X-irradiation and at 5 hours after fractionated irradiation. 4) In lung tissues, levels of NP-SS showed no significant change from the control at earlier experimental hours, but a great decrease was observed at later Part of the experiment.

  • In this study, seasonal customs are analyze the appropriate festival for each 24 seasonal divisions of the year. Recover the intrinsic value of the festival and selected the target villages and each village should investigate elements of the festival. The village were sought activation of a rural village by setting the festive season. (1) 24 seasonal divisions of the year festival is a small town festival, the festival's program is based on the experience-oriented. Based on period seasonal customs and season plays are set up 24 seasonal divisions of the year festival's program. (2) Survey area is the rural tourism village carried seven villages at Cheongju-si in Chungcheongbuk-do. (3) 24 seasonal divisions of the year festival establish as possible to the festival program is based on 24 seasonal divisions of the yearfestival seasonal customs, seven villages were set on the festival. on the season sesipung through the festive season as possible to the festival program was set up, seven villages were set on the festival. The first standard, festivals and events that are currently made. Second,now ongoing in the village is experience program and a 24 seasonal divisions of the year seasonal customs resource. (4) As a result, each period of the festival was set in the village. (5) By festival setting recover intrinsic value of the festival by taking advantage of 24 seasonal divisions of the year. The common interests of the rural town of experience, the rising interest in each town and village festivals activation of the network can be achieved.

CSR이 조직신뢰와 직업존중감에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of CSR on the Organizational Trust and Job-esteem)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 기업의 사회적 책임이 호텔 종사원의 조직신뢰 및 직업존중감에 미치는 영향을 분석하는데 있다. 이론적 배경을 토대로 세 개의 가설을 설정하였으며 회귀분석과 AMOS로 검증하였다. 분석결과 첫째, 윤리적 책임과 기부적 책임정도가 높을 수록 조직신뢰에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, CSR과 직업존중감과의 관계에서, 기부적 책임은 내재적 가치에, 경제적 책임은 사회적 평판에 영향을 미치는 요인으로 나타났다. 셋째, 조직신뢰와 직업존중감과의 관계에서, 조직신뢰는 내재적 가치와 사회적 평판에 유의미한 영향관계가 있음을 확인하였다. 요약하면, 호텔의 CSR중 기부적 책임이 종사원들의 조직신뢰와 직업존중감에 직간접적 영향을 미치는 핵심요인으로, 적극적 자선활동과 판매액의 일정부분을 사회에 환원함으로써 종사원의 긍정적 태도를 유도할 수 있다. 따라서 호텔은 일관된 사회적 책임활동으로 종사원들의 조직신뢰를 향상시키고 직업존중감을 높일 수 있는 정책을 시행해야 할 것이다.

The black hole mass-stellar velocity relation of the present-day active galaxies

  • To investigate whether the present-day active galaxies follow the same black hole mass vs. stellar velocity dispersion (MBH-$\sigma*$) relation as quiescent galaxies, we measured the velocity dispersions of a sample of local Seyfert 1 galaxies, for which black hole masses were measured via reverberation mapping. We measured stellar velocity dispersions from high S/N optical spectra centered on the Ca II triplet region (${\sim}8500^{\circ}A$), obtained at the Keck, Palomar, and Lick Observatories. For two objects, in which the Ca II triplet region was contaminated by nuclear emission, we used high-quality H-band spectra obtained with the OH-Suppressing Infrared Imaging Spectrograph and laser-guide star adaptive optics at the Keck-II Telescope. Combining our new measurements with data from the literature, we assemble a sample of 24 active galaxies with stellar velocity dispersions and reverberation MBH in the range of black hole mass 106< MBH /$M{\odot}$ < 109,toobtainthefirstreverberationmappingconstraintsontheslopeandintrinsicscatteroftheMBH- $\sigma*$ relation of active galaxies. Assuming a constant virial coefficient f for the reverberation MBH, we find a slope ${\beta}=3.55{\pm}0.60$ and the intrinsic scatter ${\sigma}int=0.43{\pm}0.08$ dex in the relation log (MBH/M${\odot}$)=$\alpha+\beta$ log(${\sigma}*$/200 km s-1), which are consistent with those found for quiescent galaxies. We derive an updated value of the virial coefficient f by finding the value which places the reverberation masses in best agreement with the MBH - $\sigma*$ relation of quiescent galaxies; using the quiescent MBH - $\sigma*$ relation determined by Gultekin et al. we find log f=0.72+0.09 (or $0.71{\pm}0.10$) with an intrinsic scatter of $0.44{\pm}0.07$ (or 0.46+0.07) dex. No correlations between f and parameters connected to the physics of accretion (such as the Eddington ratio or line-shape measurements) are found. The uncertainty of the virial coefficient remains one of the main sources of the uncertainty in black hole mass determination using reverberation mapping, and therefore also in single-epoch spectroscopic estimates of black hole masses in active galaxies.
