An Analysis of the Relative Importance of Park Services for User-Oriented Smart Park Development (이용자 중심의 스마트공원 조성을 위한 공원서비스의 상대적 중요도 분석)

  • Interest in smart parks has been increasing due to the recent rapid rise of smart cities, but concerns are growing over the development of technology-oriented smart parks. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the relative importance of park services through Focus Group Interviews and the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) to develop user-oriented smart parks in the future. To this end, literature on park functions and services was reviewed, and interviews with experts in the field of landscape architecture and IT were conducted to derive service items. The AHP model consisted of four values, and 15 park services were established and used to survey 38 landscape experts. As a result, services for improving the park's essential functions, such as contact with nature, relaxation, and exercise-walking, were deemed important. Services related to the environment and safety in response to climate change, such as the amelioration of pollution and heatwaves were also high. The importance of social integration services was relatively low, but it was considered an important service to when enhancing community participation. Future smart parks should enhance the health benefits of contact with nature rather than implementing excessive artificial facilities and technology. Additionally, smart technology will need to be applied based on users' needs while reflecting local characteristics. Efforts should be made to enhance user intimacy and improve the understanding of smart parks by strengthening public relations education.

A Study on the Development of the Goals and Contents System of Healthy Dietary Education Program for After-School Care in Lower Grade in Elementary School (초등 저학년 돌봄 교실 건강식생활 교육프로그램의 목표 및 내용체계 개발 연구)

  • Objectives: The study purpose is to develop a content system for a healthy dietary education program for after-school care in lower grade in elementary school. Methods: The contents of healthy dietary education in the 2015 revised curriculum and textbooks and the major education programs related to dietary life that are currently used in elementary school education were analyzed. Focus group interviews were held with field experts related to lower grade in elementary care class. Accordingly, the structuring of the education area and the detailed education contents were systematized. Results: From the analysis results, the contents of curriculum, textbook, and administrative department were classified as hygiene safety, health, and culture. The goal of the educational content system was divided into three areas: nutritional dietary life, food hygiene and health, and food culture. The subjects consisted of dietary balance, healthy body weight, digestion and absorption, food hygiene, Korean agricultural products, traditional food, and table manners. The curriculum was composed of 12 content elements. Conclusions: In order to ensure that after-school care students can grow into healthy, growth-oriented and creative talents, the role of the caring guide is important, and associated guidelines are needed in the future.

Semi-Quantitative Exposure Assessment of Occupational Exposure to Wood Dust and Nasopharyngeal Cancer Risk

  • Occupational exposure to wood dust is one cause of nasopharyngeal cancer (NPC); however, assessing this exposure remains problematic. Therefore, the objective of this study was to develop a semi-quantitative exposure assessment method and then utilize it to evaluate the association between occupational exposure to wood dust and the development of NPC. In addition, variations in risk by histology were examined. A case-control study was conducted with 327 newly diagnosed cases of NPC at the National Cancer Institute and regional cancer centers in Thailand with 1:1 controls matched for age, gender and geographical residence. Occupational information was obtained through personal interviews. The potential probability, frequency and intensity of exposure to wood dust were assessed on a job-by-job basis by experienced experts. Analysis was performed by conditional logistic regression and presented in odds ratio (ORs) estimates and 95% confidence intervals (CI). Overall, a non significant relationship between occupational wood dust exposure and NPC risk for all subjects was observed (ORs=1.61, 95%CI 0.99-2.59); however, the risk became significant when analyses focused on types 2 and 3 of NPC (ORs=1.62, 95%CI 1.03-2.74). The significant association was stronger for those exposed to wood dust for > 10 year (ORs=2.26, 95%CI 1.10-4.63), for those with first-time exposure at age > 25 year (ORs=2.07, 95%CI 1.08-3.94), and for those who had a high cumulative exposure (ORs=2.17, 95%CI 1.03-4.58) when compared with those considered unexposed. In conclusion, wood dust is likely to be associated with an increased risk of type 2 or 3 NPC in the Thai population. The results of this study show that semi-quantitative exposure assessment is suitable for occupational exposure assessment in a case control study and complements the information from self-reporting.

Job Analysis of Early Childhood Special Education Teachers Using DACUM Technique (DACUM 기법을 활용한 유치원 특수학급 교사의 직무분석)

  • This study attempted to analyze the jobs of early childhood special education teachers working in kindergarten's special classes using the DACUM technique. To this end, the DACUM Committee was formed with six early childhood special education teachers with extensive field experience. A total of six DACUM workshops were conducted to derive job definition, job descriptions, and job specifications. As a result, the job description of early childhood special education teachers consisted of 9 duties and 53 tasks, and the job specification consisted of 80 knowledge, 98 skills, and 22 attitudes. Early childhood special education teachers working in kindergarten's special classes were tasks differentiated from special education teachers working in elementary and secondary school including home-linked guidance, health and safety management, elementary school transfer guidance, environmental composition according to play topics, and indoor and outdoor play activities guidance. In the case of knowledge, the Special Education Act on the Disabled, etc. and knowledge on behavioral modification took precedence. Skill showed high frequency of observation-record, parental interviews and parental education skills. Attitudes as experts and administrators took priority. The results of this job analysis can help organize a curriculum to train early childhood special education teachers with high job competency in universities.

A Study on the Development of Convergence Education Program for workers in Health and Medical Industry in preparation for the forth industrial revolution (4차 산업혁명 대비 보건의료 산업분야종사자를 위한 융합교육 프로그램에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to conduct a survey on awareness of the fourth industrial revolution being much debated recently and suggest the educational program for adult learner in order to create a new demand of university according to the social change. Based on earlier researches, the survey was conducted on employees working in the health and medical industry with questionnaire including the relevant educational field, areas of turnover and educational needs from July 1 to July 31, 2017. As a result, the bio-medical device, senior-friendly industry, environment and safety, clinical counselor and food service industry(coffee industry) were identified as necessary education areas. To enhance the validity of research results, in-depth interviews of relevant experts in each field were conducted from August 19 to September 22, 2017, and presented necessary education programs driven by the advent of the fourth industrial revolution and changes in each areas.

Path to Poverty of Sick Workers and Fictional Korean Social Security (아픈 노동자는 왜 가난해지는가? - 아픈 노동자의 빈곤화과정과 소득보장제의 경험)

  • This study analyzes how workers become impoverished and have their jobs less stabilized after they suffer from non-job-related sickness. Given that South Korea lacks sickness benefits, which most of OECD member states legislate and implement except US and Switzerland, this study examines its impact on laborers' job stability and povertization in Korea. The researchers have conducted in-depth interviews with nine former or present laborers who have the experiences and four experts on the issue in July-September, 2017 for the qualitative analysis. It is found that laborers, after becoming aware of their sickness, at first endure their pain without informing their employers not to lose their jobs. The attititude is observed especially among non-standard laborers, because sickness more often leads to job loss for them than for standard laborers. After workers have to leave their jobs due to their sickness in the end, they have no choice but to keep working in less stable jobs to compensate for income losses. They become gradually impoverished with their social capital like family bond declining. We observe laborers who are eligible for industrial accident insurance compensation could not benefit from the system because some employers refrain from the legal reporting duty. Due to this illegal practices, some industrial accident victims unduly lose their jobs due to "non-job-related sickness". Second, some employers report to the authority that their sick laborers have left their jobs 'voluntarily' even when they have quitted it without their volition, in which case the newly unemployed are not eligible for unemployment benefits. Large holes in Korea's safety nets for those suffering from multiple risks of sickness and unemployment.

Development and Evaluation of Separation Anxiety Scale for Mothers Using Child Care Facilities (보육시설 이용 어머니의 격리불안 측정 도구 개발 및 평가)

  • The aim of this study was to develop and validate an instrument to measure the separation anxiety of mothers who use child care facilities. The scale was developed as follows: initial items generated, validity and reliability tests performed, and final items extracted. The initial items were developed through a literature review and interviews. The content validity was verified by five experts. Using a final questionnaire, the data was collected from 204 mothers who used child care facilities with a convenient sampling method. The construct validity was evaluated by item analysis, exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis. The results of confirmatory and exploratory factor analyses showed that the separation anxiety consisted of 6 factors: the mother's guilty feelings (5-items), safety of child care facilities (5-items), trust of teachers (5-items), child's anxiety (4-items), interaction anxiety with the child (4-items), and management of child care facilities (3-items). The separation anxiety scale for mothers using child care facilities consisted of 26 items. The reliability of the developed scale was examined. The Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ coefficient was 0.93. These results show that this scale is a valid and reliable instrument for measuring the separation anxiety level of mothers who use child care facilities.
