The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of supportive nursing intervention on patient's response of anxiety in emergency room as the suspected experimental research sequentially designed for the unequal control group. This study collected the data from 100 patients including 50 patients of experimental group and 50 patients of control group in emergency room of the only one university hospital from July 12. to September 30, 1999. This study used questionnaires that Kim, Jung Taek and Shin. Dong Kyun revised the measurement of STAI(State-Trait Anxiety Inventory) of Spielberger(1972) to measure their anxiety with using physical. spiritual. and informative support of the supportive nursing intervention, and measured blood pressure. pulse and respiration by physiological response of anxiety. After then. this study analyzed the frequency and percentage by using SPSS 7.5 program, $x^2-test$, t-test and ANCOVA. The results are as follows: First hypothesis : the point of STAI of experimental group who received the supportive nursing intervention during emergency room staying will be lower than that of control group without the supportive nursing intervention(F=22.943, p=.000). Second hypothesis : the sistolic blood pressure of experimental group who received the supportive nursing intervention during emergency room staying will be lower than that of control group without the supportive nursing intervention(F=42.603. p=.000). Third hypothesis. the diastolic blood pressure of experimental group who received the supportive nursing intervention during emergency room staying will be lower than that of control group without the supportive nursing intervention(F= 18.482, p=.000). Fourth hypothesis: the pulse of experimental group who received the supportive nursing intervention during emergency room staying will be lower than that of control group without the supportive nursing intervention. Fifth hypothesis : The respiration of experimental group who received the supportive nursing intervention during emergency room staying will be lower than that of control group without the supportive nursing intervention. In the above-mentioned result. the supportive nursing intervention was considered to be useful intervention that raised the effect on patient's response of anxiety during emergency room staying.
Objectives: This study was conducted to identify the intervention effects on health efficacy and health knowledge related to health behaviors for improving cardiovascular health in elementary school children. Methods: A repeated measure, pre-post-test design was used to identify the intervention effect on health efficacy and health knowledge among 5th grade school children. Intervention consisted of a curriculum classroom intervention and parent intervention. Health efficacy, health knowledge, and perceived parental monitoring were measured for testing intervention effect. A sample of 219 participants completed a baseline pre-test and two tests during intervention and after intervention from March to July 2004. Results: Mental health efficacy improved significantly from baseline test to the test after intervention (F = 32.88, p < 0.0001). Physical health efficacy also significantly increased during intervention (F = 50.51, p < 0.0001), but did not significantly change after parent intervention. Health knowledge increased significantly from baseline test to the test after education (F =10.23, p < 0.0001), but decreased after parent intervention. Perceived parental monitoring had a significant impact on mental health efficacy and physical health efficacy. Conclusion: The findings support school-based cardiovascular health promotion intervention as effective in improving health efficacy and health knowledge. Parental influence should also be considered to maintain improved health efficacy and health knowledge by thinking process in the intervention for elementary school children.
Objective : This systematic review aimed to evaluate the global literature on the effect of early intervention for preschool children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Methods : A literature search of the PubMed database identified 10 studies published up to December 2017, using the following search terms: autism, autism spectrum disorder, ASD, high-function autism, high-function ASD, Asperger syndrome, pervasive developmental disorder, PDDNOS, intervention, and early intervention. Results : Early intervention for children with ASD used Applied Behavior Analysis in 8 of the 10 selected studies. The other two studies used a Sensory Integration approach and Technology-based intervention. Most studies reported positive effects on communication skills, social interaction skills, intelligence, adaptive behavior, and improved attention through early intervention. Conclusions : These results suggested a basis for early intervention for children with ASD. Further research is needed to determine the effectiveness of early intervention.

BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: One ongoing effort to curtail dyslipidemia in school children is through lifestyle intervention. This study analyzes outcomes of the intervention of nutrition education and Javanese traditional game-based physical activity, on lipid profiles of overweight and obese children. SUBJECTS/METHODS: The experimental study consisted of three steps: data collection (October to December 2016), intervention processes (January to March 2017), and final report preparation (April to May 2017). This was a split-plot block study, enrolling a total of 72 subjects. Traditional game intervention (12 meetings) and nutrition education (9 meetings) was carried out within 3 months with material related to obesity. RESULTS: Our results showed no decrease in the levels of total cholesterol in the group receiving nutrition education (rise by 1.56 mg/dL), but when compared to subjects without intervention, total cholesterol levels experienced was increased. The group which did not receive physical activity showed increase in the total cholesterol, whereas the traditional game intervention group showed a decrease of 0.05 mg/dL total cholesterol at the end of the intervention. Nutrition education and physical activity interventions did not influence any reduction in the low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) levels, but rather showed a tendency to increase at the end of the intervention. However, the increase in LDL-c levels in the traditional game group was lower than in other intervention groups. Duncan's test indicated that the effect of nutrition education and physical activity interventions did not differ from the cut-off values of LDL-C and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol. CONCLUSIONS: Total cholesterol and triglyceride levels in the traditional game group tended to decrease at the end of the intervention, but the results did not differ much from other intervention groups. We deduce that nutrition education and traditional game-based physical activity interventions are not capable of improving blood lipid profiles in overweight and obese children within 3 months. It is necessary to increase the time of physical activity intervention to maintain the lipid profile in another study.
The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of social support intervention on mood and maternal confidence of premature's mothers. The social support intervention is known to induce improved mood state and provide information on caretaking so as to increase the maternal confidence in the mother of a premature. To systematically investigate its effect, this study employed a nonequivalent randomized post-repeated quasi-experimental design. The intervention was given individually to mothers of prematures five times spanning five weeks. The sample consisted of the 50 mothers (experimental 27, control 23) of a premature. The data were collected using the structured questionaires twice as post tests. Various instruments were used in this study. The POMS developed by Lee(1990) was used to measure the mothers' mood state, Mother and Baby Scales by Wolke et al (1987). The results are as follows: 1. For the hypothesis test to see the effect of the social support intervention, the mean of the experimental group and the control group was compared by means of t-test and the following results are obtained. Hypothesis I. "The mood state of mothers with social support intervention is more positive than that of the mothers without such intervention." was not statistically supported and thus discarded (t=.799, p=.429). However the mean scores were 49.68 and 51.38 for the experimantal and control group, respectively, indicating more positive mood for the experimental group. Hypothesis II. "The maternal confidence of mothers with social support intervention is higher than that of the mothers without the tervention." was statistically supported (t=3.667, p=.001). 2. The mean score of the mood state was highest before discharge (52.29), meaning most negative, declined to 49.68 shortly after the discharge, again increased a bit to 50.07 at four weeks after the discharge, and stabilized to 49.22 around six weeks after the discharge. On the other hand the mean score of the maternal confidence was continuously increased with time. In view of the above results, it is concluded that the social support intervention with a preprogrammed protocol has the definite positive effect on increasing the maternal confidence and positive effect on improving mother's mood state.
This study is an empiriacl analysis of effects of government intervention on the health care delivery system in Korea. The purposes of this study are to find out the effects of government intervention on the per capita national health expenditure(per capita NHE), crude mortality rate(CMR), and institutional efficiency. Here, the institutional efficiency is defined as a formula shown below: log$\frac{100-curde mortality rate }{per capita NHE}$$\times$100. The formula indicates that the instiutional efficiency increases if the CMR and/or per capita NHE goes down. In the meantime the government intervention is measured by six independent variables: I) the degree of social developments, ii) the numberr of physicians per 100, 000 population, iii) the proportion of specialists among the total physicians, iv) the proportion of public expenditure among the NHE, v) the proportion of public beds to the total number of beds, vi) the proportion of physicians working at the public sector to the total number of physicians. In the above six independent variables iv), v) and vi) are the ones that reflect the degree of government intervention. In actual calculation, the two independent variables v) and vi) are integrated into a new variable based on one to one correspondence. The materials used are the time-series data from 1970 through 1990 in Korea. A path analysis and the time-series regression analysis were adopted to estimate and examine the causal relationship between variables involved. And decomposition of the effect of causal relationship is made to find net effect, direct and indirect effect. The major findings are as follows; 1. The effect of public expenditure, number of physicians per 100, 000 population, the proportion of specialists among the total physicians and social development shows a positive relationship with per capita NHE. Only if the government intervention would be counted, the effects of the number of physicians and the proportion of specialists succeed in containing per capita NHE. 2. In additionn to the above four variables, one additional variable, per capita NHE, was also responsible for the reduction of CMR. The factor of social development found to be the most potent predictor of the CMR reduction. However, the CMR reduction due to government intervention was negligible. 3. Meanwhile, the above four variables were found to was have negative effects on the institutional efficiency. The reverse is true when the government intervention is counted. For example, the number of physicians and the proportion of specialists have played a positive role in raising institutional efficiency via goverment intervention. This comes from the factual effect that the increment of institutional efficiency via the reduction of per capita NHE is bigger than via the reduction of CMR.
The present study investigated the effect of music intervention on the anxiety of children and adolescents using meta-analysis, and the specific research purposes were as follows. The targets of the present study were previous studies analyzed the effect of music intervention on anxiety collected the final 28 theses for academic degrees and five scholarly journal articles were used in the analysis. To examine the publication bias of the studies used in the analysis, funnel plot and fail-safe N were verified, and found the publication bias was not significant enough to influence the present study. The homogeneity test showed that the effect size was heterogeneous, and accordingly, a random effect model analysis was carried out and the overall effect size was found to be -1.034. The analysis on the difference in the effect showed that the effect size varied according to subject classification and intervention location for categorical variables and size for continuous variables.

The learning analytics dashboard (LAD) is a supporting tool for teaching and learning in its personalized, automatic, and visual aspects. While several studies have focused on the effect of using dashboard on learning achievement, there is a research gap concerning the impacts of learners' characteristics on it. Accordingly, this study attempted to verify the differences in learning achievement depending on learning motivation level (high vs. low) and dashboard intervention (use vs. non-use). The final participants were 231 university students enrolled in a basic statistics course. As a research design, a 2 × 2 factorial design was employed. The results showed that learning achievement varied with dashboard intervention and the interaction effect was significant between learning motivation and dashboard intervention. The results imply that the impact of LAD may vary depending on learner characteristics. Consequently, this study suggests that the dashboard interventions should be offered after careful consideration of individual students' differences, particularly their learning motivation.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of aromatherapy on sleep quality. Methods: This is a systematic review of randomized controlled trial studies (PROSPERO registration number CRD42017064519). In this study, the PICO were adults and the elderly, aromatherapy intervention, a comparative intervention with the control and placebo oil groups, and sleep. The selected articles were in English, Korean, and Chinese. Results: The results of the meta-analysis showed that the effect sizes of the experimental group were 1.03 (n=763, SMD=1.03, 95% CI 0.66 to 1.39) (Z=5.47, p<.001). In the aromatherapy intervention group, the effect size of sleep was statistically significant (QB=9.39, df=2, p=.009), with a difference of 0.77 for inhalation, 1.12 for oral intake and 2.05 for massage. A post-analysis showed that the effect of massage on sleep was significantly greater than the inhalation method. The regression coefficient of the intervention period, B=0.01 (Z=1.43, p=.154), also showed that the longer the intervention period, the larger the effect size; however, it was not statistically significant. Conclusion: A total of 23 literature analyses showed that aromatherapy is effective in improving quality of sleep, and the massage method is more effective in improving quality of sleep than the inhalation method. A meta-ANOVA showed that the aromatherapy intervention affected the high heterogeneity of the effect size. Thus, future research with stricter control in methods and experimental procedures is necessary.
Background: The purpose of this study was to provide the basis for the treatment intervention by identifying the treatment effect when rehabilitation intervention is applied to patients with dysphagia due to stroke and by comparing the results of the treatment mediation according to the differences of the treatment methods and frequency. Design: Randomized Controlled Trial. Methods: 30 people diagnosed with dysphagia due to stroke were divided in accordance with the differences in treatment mediation techniques and treatment frequency- traditional swallowing rehabilitation coupled with neuromuscular electrical stimulation group and only neuromuscular electrical stimulation group/ 5 times per week group and 2 times per week group, and ten weeks of treatment intervention was performed. Paired t test was employed to show the efficacy of treatment intervention, Independent sample t test was used to compare the results according to difference and number of treatment intervention techniques. Results: There was a significant positive effect of treatment on traditional swallowing rehabilitation coupled with neuromuscular electrical stimulation group, only neuromuscular electrical stimulation group, 5 times per week group and 2 times per week group (p<0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in treatment effect between traditional swallowing rehabilitation coupled with neuromuscular electrical stimulation group and only neuromuscular electrical stimulation group (p<0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in treatment effect between 5 times per week group and 2 times per week group (p<0.05). Conclusion: There was no significant difference according to the technique or number of treatments of swallowing rehabilitation treatment interventions, but it was confirmed that rehabilitation intervention for dysphagia showed positive treatment effect.
